Shogunate Pride Chapter 3: Keeping up with the Samurais
By Bluestar076
Hello everyone! Bluestar here with a new chapter! I was a bit hesitant to start It immediately, since I usually take some time from one chapter to another, but seeing the hype for this next one and considering that I was eager to start it, since it was an important piece to the story, I've decided to let it out and start slightly earlier. Maybe this will end up getting published a bit further, but in any case, I could say that it's normal! After all, since this is a brand-new story, it's only natural that we all want more and see more about it! Especially considering what's gonna happen in this one! After we saw a starter with Revany in the previous chapter (And I thank you for appreciating it, it really means a lot for me) it is time to show us the rest of the samurais and see the complete guild of Shogunate Pride! So, as always, I hope you enjoy!
Note: I do not own Fairy Tail. All rights go to Hiro Mashima, A-1 Pictures and CloverWorks.
Chapter 3: Keeping up with the Samurais
Era – Ishgar's Magic Council Headquarter
The Magic Council.
One of the most powerful government forces that reside in Earth Land. It is the supreme center of everything that involves magic and the ethernano spreading in the world. Every guild, even the most powerful ones, served under their word, which was absolute. If they wanted a certain thing, it had to be done.
And even today, the most important members of the council were going to have their regular meeting.
A middle-aged man wearing an elegant button-up dress shirt with dark-purple hair and red eyes that overall looked like a vampire, was walking towards one of the many tables of the building. It was a circular one, where other mages were sitting, waiting for him. As soon as they saw him, they all had a more serious stare on their faces.
The man sat down and crossed his fingers, looking at the rest of the table. "Forgive my delay, gentleman. Sometimes, morning treatments take more time than usual." He spoke.
Draculos Hyberion – Chairman of the Magic Council -Ten Wizard Saints
"Ooooh, there's no need to worry my old friend! Sometimes I do tend to forget things! Age makes his blows as always! I sometime leave the house without brushing my teeth!" Another mage said with a carefree tone. This one had the resemblance of an old tree.
Naturally, his sentence shocked everyone. "WHAT!?" They shouted, but the sage made a loud laugh.
"Haha! Joking! As always! Come on, a good laugh in the first morning doesn't hurt anyone, does it?" He commented.
Warrod Sequen – Member of the Magic Council – Ten Wizard Saints
Everyone in the room left out a sigh of relief. "Sometimes I won't understand your sense of humor, Warren! Even in time of peace, you can deliver some worrying stuff!" Another member of the council answered. This one was quite short and had a dark grey beard. He was wearing a dark-colored vest under a light-colored vest. He even had an earring, a pair of glasses and a large blue hat. Judging by the tone, he was mildly annoyed.
"Come now! No need to be that serious!" Warrod replied with still a smile on his face.
"But you can't make these comments when you're someone of your reputation! You should have some tact! Gee…it really shows that you were a mage of Fairy Tail…" The short man said, standing still on his position.
Wolfheim – Member of the Magic Council – Ten Wizard Saints
"What can I say? We've always been lively and we'll always stay like that! Am I right, Makarov?" The tree mage then asked to the current Master of Fairy Tail, who was another member of the Saints that was standing with them at the moment.
Makarov Dreyar – Eight Guild Master of Fairy Tail – Ten Wizard Saints
The short old man sighed a bit. "That's absolutely true, but I have to say it as well…sometimes your jokes are a bit uncomfortable." He commented.
Warren was displaced by such comment. "Aw, come on!"
"Leaving this aside, if there isn't anything you want to add, we could start our scheduled meeting." Draculos then spoke. The others looked at him, ready to start. "As you all know it is fundamental to have a frequent update of our world's status. After the council was gravely damaged by the action of Tartaros three years ago, we still need to get back on some of the things we lost after most of our staff was killed in that process."
"Luckily, as of now, we didn't encounter any major threat yet. It had been quite a while since we last faced such a major crisis. Both my guild and the other ones that are placed in the region of Fiore are doing their best every day." Makarov answered.
"I can confirm that." Another member of the saints answered with a smile. This was a rather tall and muscular man with a bald head, two black marks above his eyes and a long brown beard under his chin. His overall clothes made him look like a monastery monk. "In these days, we of Lamia Scale have become even more productive in our job. Everyone is doing their best to make sure that this calm life continues. And honestly, I couldn't agree more."
Jura Neekis – S-Class Mage - Lamia Scale – Ten Wizard Saints
"Indeed. I would say that the guilds in Fiore are the ones who did most of the job, especially through all the hard times we had between the Balam Alliance and the conflict with the Alvarez Empire. Fairy Tail even saved my life from an almost inevitable death. Your guys have a lot of credits for that, Makarov." Wolfheim then said, referring to the other short mage, who closed his eyes.
"We simply did what we are talented at doing. Plus, we were able to settle various old stories with other people. I'm just glad that everything went fine." He commented.
"Still, on the other hand, despite the productivity of all guilds, the evil deeds of dark guild continued to grow. Last time we have reported a 5% increase of dark guilds's activities, aimed to harm our system. It seems that even after all that happened, there's still a somehow balanced contrast between our forces and those of the darkness." Draculos then pointed out.
"Unfortunately, it's only natural. After the three guilds of the Balam Alliance had been destroyed, everyone on the sidelines had started the hunt for taking the supremacy over everyone else. We had a confirm of that with the cult of Avatar two years ago." Jura commented.
"Honestly, I don't see it as something alarming. Like we said, the legal guilds are as productive as ever in this period of stability, so there will always be someone ready to stop them. In fact, just yesterday I've got proves of that!" Warrod said, gathering the others' attention.
"How so?" Makarov asked.
"I've went for a small tour in the kingdom of Bosco, and I came across the legal guild of Garuda Wrath. Apparently, just a week ago, they were able to take down an entire dark guild in just one day all by themselves!. I've asked for a proof and they show an unexpected power." The tree mage explained.
A small choir of 'Uuuuuh…' rose up.
"To be fair, I've heard of something familiar, in the kingdom of Bellum. In that zone, the guild known as Olympus Will was able to clear a good portion of the region from a recurring increasing number of bandits that infested the local cities." Wolfheim added something up to the discussion.
"Impressive! It seems that we of Fiore aren't the only ones who are achieving notable feats! Guess we're about to have some competition between regions!" Jura commented.
"Actually, I was starting to see something as well. The region of Caelum caught my interest in particular. There were two guilds that were making a road of their own in these times. One is Grand Katze and the other one is Shogunate Pride, which is known as one of the most renowned guilds of the region. They seem to have a large number of accomplished missions. Grand Katze, on the other hand, seems to have started increasing their competition rate, with even a fair number of S-Class mages." Draculos added as well.
That last comment made Makarov slightly wide his eyes, since it wasn't the first time he heard that name. "Shogunate Pride…" He thought. Naturally, he wasn't going to tell them the unexpected truth he discovered the day earlier. It was already a big deal with his own guild, he wouldn't want to imagine the result with the Magic Council itself. So he preferred to stay quiet.
"Still…" Warrod then spoke out. All the eyes were on him curious.
"Hm? What about it?" Draculos asked.
"There was a concerning fact I've discovered recently that I thought it would have been the best choice to tell you." The tree mage continued.
"Please, explain." Draculos let him talk.
The former mage of Fairy Tail made a slightly more serious expression, something unusual from him. "From various mages of all regions, I've started to have these reports about some strange behaviors coming from people throughout Ishgar and possibly the rest of Earth Land."
"Strange behaviors?" Jura asked.
"What do they do?" Wolfhiem added.
"In one day they all seem calm, but in the next one, they start to have convulsions, panic attacks, sudden illnesses and become even aggressive towards other people." Warrod explained. "There were similar episodes in the past years but on a lower frequency. They started to increase last year."
Everyone in the room was silent for a couple of seconds.
"Strange…" Wolfheim commented. "What happened to the victims?" He then asked.
"The episodes seems to last only a few minutes before the people turn back to normal. When they were asked to describe the feeling, they all said that they don't remember, but it was almost as if there was something buzzing on their brain." The tree mage explained.
"So, some sort of manipulation magic?" Draculos asked.
"It could be…maybe the work of a hidden dark guild…" Jura said.
But Makarov wasn't entirely sure of it. "…Maybe it's something more complicated. Like…a virus…or a curse. In any case, if such events will increase, we shall start the first investigations. I have someone to back me up for this."
"Yes, that would be the best option. I'll make sure that other members of the Council will start to work on the problem if it persists." Draculos added. Everyone nodded in approval.
"I'm sorry if I ruined the mood after all the positivity, but I thought it would have been important." Warrod then apologized.
"There's no need of. It's a good thing that you warned us about it." The chairman told him.
"And that's not even the worst part! Did I tell you that I have a terminal disease?" The tree mage then said, making the others panicking.
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?"
"Joking!" Warren immediately made another one of his laughs.
"Oh my God, WILL YOU STOP!?" As always, Wolfheim was annoyed at such pranks.
The reunion continued for a while longer, and the Saints discussed of other topics, mostly bureaucratic ones, and as soon as it was over, the Wizard Saints were dismissed.
As he was descending the stairs, Makarov ended up watching from the several windows the majestic sight. Seen from that position the city of Era surely had its charm, and as such, he decided to spend some minutes by looking at it in peace. A few thoughts crossed his minds, like the mysterious infection that suddenly abrupted and that he needed to investigate. But apart from that…hearing the name of that guild for a second time…made him wonder about the twist he heard about the day earlier.
"Shogunate Pride…a renowned guild of its region. This Tsukuyomi must have aimed high if she wanted to join them. Considering that I didn't receive any news of someone joining our guild today and I didn't see anyone new this morning…maybe she's still trying that road…or she already got in. In any case…this surely makes me curious…maybe one of this day I could get a day off to make a little trip on Caelum."
With that in mind, despite the remaining energies he was left with, he started to walk towards the closest station. Another day of work as the Master of the most famous guild in the work was waiting for him.
"All right, time to head back. God knows what they did while I was absent."
Caelum – City of Elba
The mountain which stood at the top of the city of Elba that looked like its guardian, was indeed a common place to explore for both local people and tourists. Even if it wasn't that height, it was still a pleasant sight to experience once arrived at the top of it, also thanks to the green of the plants and the fauna that the mountain housed. Those who climbed it could remember the sight of beautiful white birds that flew around, and even peaceful monkeys that walked through the forests. It was the perfect place for those who wanted to isolate themselves and feel at peace, with only the sounds of nature to listen.
But all those who climbed the mountain knew a small, yet crucial issue about it, which became common even for those who wanted to go on it: it was quite hard to climb it.
The mount had a lot of roads, most of them were also intricate and it was easy to get lost. To climb all of it, the people had to be prepared both mentally and physically, or they had to give up.
Still, a century earlier, someone was foolish enough to make that mountain their home and find a way to get back on the city multiple times. Something that only one with extreme patient was eager to do. In the end, other people followed them, and through time…that mountain became the host…of the Shogunate Pride guild, which wasn't situated on the top, but still…those who wanted to visit the guild or directly go for it needed to make a lot of way.
"Anf…anf…anf…anf…" Tsukuyomi was following Revany through the route to go to the guild. At first, she seemed fine, but then at a certain point, the fatigue started to set in, and she fell on her knees. Her front was sweating a lot and she could feel her throat starting to dry off. When she raised her head, she could see that Tsukuyomi was continuing to climb up without her. They were on the route made especially for those who were directed at the guild.
"Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait..." Tsukuyomi tried to call the other girl back with a dead tone.
Revany turned around and saw her, rolling her eyes. She was familiar with this scenario. After seeing her that way, she made a few steps back and reached her. "Tired already?" She asked.
"Anf…it's just that…anf…anf…I've never expected to be this long of a road. I mean, I've got used to use a lot of energies in the past but…anf…not in such way…" Tsukuyomi replied.
Revany stared at her in silence and then pointed at the right of the staircase. "Luckily for you, there's a large water puddle over there. I'll wait here." She simply spoke. The shorter girl didn't lose any time and immediately ran over it.
"THANKS!"
Revany sighed and made a facepalm.
A few seconds later, Tsukuyomi was already feeling better. "Uaaaaah! Thanks nature! I don't know what would have happened without it! I wonder I'll have to get used to it…" She commented with her mouth still soaked in water.
Revany simply proceeded while looking forward. "We're almost there." She simply spoke out before continuing. Tsukuyomi could see that apart from duty, she wasn't a woman of many words. But it didn't bother her that much.
The road continued. Since Revany remained silent for most of the time and Tsukuyomi didn't want to disturb her, the road went on in an extremely quiet way, with only the wind and the sounds of birds as backgrounds. Somehow…this was appealing and relaxing for Tsukuyomi. She could even get the time to witness trees of a particular colors or small water springs that reflected the sunlight. The girl was simply caught in such images.
"Beautiful…" She thought. But she had to hurry up since Revany wasn't waiting for her. "AH!"
They continued for a quite a long, even if they were walking on a staircase. But then…the efforts were rewarded.
"Anf…anf…" Tsukuyomi had to take a few breaths once it was over, and then she raised the head and could see that the staircase ended, and they were standing pretty high and the city could be seen from above. "It sure is a small city, but seen from here it almost looks like a village! It's surely a nice view…" She commented. She then turned on the right and could notice Revany turned around, looking at something. This made her turn around as well…and by doing so…she opened her mouth in awe. She always saw it from below and in the distance…but now…it was standing right in front of her.
"Is…is this?" She asked.
Revany nodded. "This is Shogunate Pride. Your new home." She simply spoke. Tsukuyomi turned around and witnessed the building of the guild.
If there was one word to describe it, that would have been…immense. Seen from below, it seemed a lot smaller, but now that she could see it entirely, she could notice the majesty of the place.
It was a two-floor palace built in classical oriental-style, with the beams colored in red, while the two roofs were black. Around the entrance, there were a lot of turned off lanterns, and at the two sides, two statues representing ancient benevolent kings holding spears were standing up. On the roof of the building, there was the guild mark, the same one Revany had, and a written that said SHOGUNATE PRIDE made with black ink. The door was red with various silver buttons and two golden handles.
"Amazing…Oh God, I'm so excited! I've already seen some guilds in the past but…seeing it from so close…truly makes its effect! I'm so pumped up! So, what do we do now?" Tsukuyomi asked, all happy.
Revany didn't answer and simply went towards the door, knocking it twice.
"Oh…right…didn't think of it." Tsukuyomi thought.
After the knocking, a few moments of silence followed…and then the door slightly opened…revealing a small girl wearing a red and white kimono that had brown hair and brown eyes.
"Who goes there?" She asked.
Revany looked a bit annoyed. "Mami, it's me. I've brought the new member." She spoke out.
"Ha-ha-ha! No one passes here without the magic word, got it?" The little girl, Mami, seemed hesitant to make them enter. Tsukuyomi thought it was an innocent scene, only a bit embarrassing. Judging by the appearance, the girl had around five years old. But Revany was of another mood.
"Open the door now or I'll tell your parents."
"WUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! S-SORRY!" The girl cried out scared and then fully opened the door, making it a large noise. She then bowed down, embarrassed. "P-Please forgive me…"
In that moment, two other girls of the same age arrived, and Tsukuyomi could notice that they were different yet similar between them at the same time. The second one had white hair and violet eyes while the other seemed like a mix of the other two, with white hair and brown eyes. The three of them were dressed in the same way.
"Mami, were you annoying miss Revany again?"
"I'm sorry, Homura! I don't know who to trust!"
"Come on, just because of that one time with the doppelganger, it doesn't mean that everyone is fake!"
"It just scared me, Madoka!"
The three girls continued like this for a bit. Revany had to take a deep breath to let it slip, while Tsukuyomi was mostly confused than anything else.
"Uhm…are these three…members of the guild?" the black-haired girl asked.
"No. These are the daughters of the Master. They usually are in school during day, but when they're here, they tend to give a hand." The Sith mage answered.
After hearing it, Tsukuyomi looked at them with still a drop of sweat coming down from her head. "Well…considering that they are the Master's kids…it's only natural. Though they seem a bit weird…" She commented.
Once they were done talking to each other, the three girls started to walk around Tsukuyomi like a spinning flower. Needless to say…they were curious. "Ooooooh…"
"Is she the new one?"
"She's pretty!"
"What's with her eyes?"
"Eeeeh…" Tsukuyomi didn't really know what to say until Revany came closer and slightly pushed them away.
The three children made a small bow. "Welcome to Shogunate Pride!" They all said in unison.
"I'm Madoka!"
"I'm Mami!"
"And I'm Homura!"
"We hope to work together fine! Please, come in! Make yourself comfy!" Madoka then pointed at the entrance in a gentle way.
Revany didn't waste any other time and simply came in. Tsukuyomi looked at all of them and then at the entrance.
"Well, at least they seem educated…" She thought. She still couldn't believe that she was going to set foot in the guild, but after arriving at that point, there was no way she was going to turn back. She took a deep breath and went in. Once she was in, the three small girls closed the door behind them.
The inside revealed to be as majestic as the outside. It had a completely different appearance than most of the legal guilds scattered throughout Ishgar and the rest of Earth Land. Instead of a medieval tavern, it looked more like an ancient oriental palace mixed up with a fancy sushi restaurant. The floor was covered with a large squared red carpet with yellow lines that occupied most of the area. There was a total of four long horizontal tables colored in black with yellow lines as well, each one with at least twenty red brass chairs. At the end of the ground floor, there was the bar counter made with a valuable wood and colored in black like the tables. Various stools were put in front of the bar counter, which had several bottles of mostly every type of beverage, this naturally included even alcoholic ones. The walls were light brown and, on the sides, several columns were holding the general structure of the guilds. The columns were red with spiral-like yellow stripes. On the ceiling, there were four small chandeliers, each one with four small statues of golden dragons that held a lamp in their mouth, making it look like they were making the light. On both sides of the bar counter, there were two staircases that led to the upper floor. There was a small door besides of one the table at the extreme right and a small part in front of the table at the extreme right. From there, Tsukyomi could see a small portion of the upper floor. It was covered with a long banister that extended on three sides, straight, left and right, and several doors could be seen. At the left side of the ground floor, there was also a small stage used mostly for reunions and if anyone wanted to make a little show.
As Tsukuyomi walked deeper in the main hall she was immediately caught by the look of the guild. "Fascinating…it's completely different from what I've expected…but ten times better!" She commented.
Revany, in the meantime, stopped halfway and simply looked at the newcomer, while the three little girls walked deeper towards the staircase.
"Glad that you like it!" Madoka answered.
"We're going to tell the Master of your presence! Wait here in the meantime!" Mami added. With those words, the three kids walked pretty fast and entered inside one of the doors on the first floor.
Tsukuyomi nodded and continued to gave a small look around. Revany, on the other hand stayed silent and looked straight.
"Ok…in the meantime I guess I can…" Tsukuyomi was thinking of what to do in the wait…but right in that moment…
"Ah! So, this is the new member that joined us! We finally get to see her!"
"Uh!?" As soon as she heard the voice, Tsukuyomi turned around, and she could see them…
Five people were already standing there, looking at her with curiosity and each one different from the others. The girl could already sense something special in them.
"Are…are these…?" Tsukuyomi asked to Revany, who simply nodded.
"Yes. These…are other members of the guilds, the samurais. And your new roommates." She simply spoke.
Tsukuyomi turned back on them, who were eager to speak to them, and soon started to talk. Her first interaction with the guild.
The first one was a boy that stood at 180 cm and had crimson hair and eyes. His eyelashes were thick and luscious while the straight hair was short to about chin-length. His skin was fair, almost porcelain and had a toned physique (but not bulky). His nails seemed pristine and well-trimmed. He wore a black skin-tight jumpsuit with red armor plates. This included arm guards, shin guards, shoulder plates and plated boots. He also had a gas mask that could cover the mouth around his neck. This individual looked at the girl with a pleased smile.
"So, our new comrade is a girl? Good to know! It's always a good thing to put pinker tones in our guild. I was starting to get worried! Hope you don't find this guild too masculine! I'm really curious of what you'll do!" He said with a wink.
Nobuhito Naoe – Nobu The Fool – Regular Mage – Shogunate Pride
The second individual was an 181cm tall girl with dual color hair. The prevailing color was cobalt blue, but she also had orange sides of it, and they were wrapped up in a mid-tigh ponytail. She had eyes with star-shaped pupils in her irises. Her body was voluptuous and her breast had notable dimensions. Her clothing resulted of a mix between a kimono and a samurai armor, with the former being sleeveless and having a lavender color and the latter being a light chest armor with a single shoulder pad on the left one and both arms had shin guard. She also wore fishnet socks with sandals. This girl had a more serious stare.
"Don't know about you guys, but she seems quite small. I hope she doesn't step behind us in the future." She spoke. But her thoughts were actually of a different opinion. "Though she's really super cute I'm almost fainting!"
Hoshiko Star – The Star Night Assassin – Regular Mage – Shogunate Pride
The third person was also a girl that stood around 167cm tall and had an athletic build. She was tan skinned and had wavy short black-dyed hair with green eyes. Her clothing consisted of a white long sleeved shirt with a black collar and a black skirt that went just above her knees, as well as a black derby hat with a golden band around it. She also wore black combat sandals on her feet. She had a more sweet and caring stare.
"Now, don't say it like that Hoshiko! You don't give the right impression! I'm also short but you can see what I can do!" She spoke before turning on Tsukuyomi. "Eheh, please forgive her, she likes to be straight. Welcome! I hope that we can work together fine!"
Domino White – Regular Mage – Shogunate Pride
The fouth individual was taller than the others, being a man with light blue eyes, dark brown hair that keeps tied in a top knot. He also wore a dark blue tuxedo and large blue and black boots. He seemed to look carefully at the new one.
"In any case, we can give a general opinion of what she can do once she'll see her fight. The fact she was able to take on Revany is already something. Just know that we're counting on you, sir."
Fern Gully – Lion Heart – S-Class mage – Shogunate Pride
"Sir?" Tsukuyomi asked.
To this, the fifth person that was with them intervened. He was a young boy that stood around 162cm with a tan/brown skin, short and curly blonde hair that were pulled into a bun. He had large dark red eyes, smooth cheeks and a round face with angular eyebrows. He had straight hips, a lean torso and some muscles hidden from a lean frame. He wore a simple black hakama and a short clear blue kimono without anything under it. He had a pair of black sandals on his feet.
"Forgive him, he does that with everyone. We simply have our own way to greet a new member that's all. Still, it's nice to see someone new here! You were Tsubaki Dragneel, right?" He then asked.
Iori Crimson – The Tempest – Regular Mage – Shogunate Pride
"Oh, actually I'm…Tsukuyomi…Dragneel." Tsukuyomi corrected him.
Iori made a small facepalm after hearing it. "Ah dammit, misspelled again…so far for a good impression…" He commented.
To hear that, Domino made a small giggle. "You keep on messing up, eh Iori?" She asked.
"I mean, it's not that hard to remember it! Just that I keep on forgetting about it…" Iori said. In that moment, what seemed like a cat flew on his left shoulder. They were a tall and lithe with a grey fur and shining ivory eyes. He simply wore a straw bamboo hat. "Nah, it's normal! I mean, living of our own for a while made us lose a bit of stuff!"
To that, Tsukuyomi slightly widened her eyes in surprise. "Ah! A cat!? Are there animals among the members?" She asked.
Iori made a small smile. "Well, yes and no. He's my partner, but not entirely a member. I fill the spot for both." He explained.
"And I'm an exceed to be correct! The name's Ronin! Nice to meet you!" The small animal added, introducing himself even with a little bow.
Ronin Crimson – Shogunate Pride
"Exceed, uh? I did hear of them in the past…" Tsukuyomi commented before giving a look at all of them. "This is still amazing…I, mean, you all show an incredible energy! And all these styles…it's unique!" She commented.
Nobuhito was the one that seemed more please. "Ah, did you hear? She says I'm cool! Flattered to hear that. Your style isn't that bad either! I think we'll get along extremely fine."
"You know that didn't turn out to be true all the times, right Nobu?" Fern then asked, making the other get embarrassed.
"Oh, come on! Don't ruin the moment as always!" He exclaimed.
"Just saying! There's a notable number of moments where you didn't have the best of luck with people." Fern pointed out, making the other member blush even more.
"Y-You counted them!?"
"Eheh…they seem a lot lively at least…" Tsukuyomi commented.
"And you just saw a small number of them. Do you want to sit perhaps? Maybe the travel made you tired." Hoshiko then asked.
"Can I?" The black-haired girl asked.
"Why shouldn't you? I mean, you're a member as well now, after all! Although your officialization will probably be tonight." Domino answered.
"Officialization?" Tsukuyomi asked.
"It's a small celebration we all had when we joined. It's usually a nice moment…when someone doesn't break anything in the aftermath." Iori explained.
"Didn't do it!" Nobuhito immediately exclaimed before Tsukuyomi could make any suspicious comment.
The girl looked at him confused and then went towards one of the tables. "Ok then…" She looked at one of the chairs and sat down on it. She found herself comfy enough.
"You…look like you're doing something you're not supposed to…are you sure you're ok?" Iori asked, seeing her expression.
"N-No it's not that. Just…it's the first time I get to stay in such place and…I don't know how to feel…" Tsukuyomi explained, still a little embarrassed. "Still…these chairs are really comfy! Might be worthy somewhere!" She then added.
"Eh? worthy? You talk my language then." A voice suddenly said.
Tsukuyomi started to look around while the other members knew what was coming. "You said the magic word." Domino commented with a small smile.
The girl with the kimono found out where the voice came from after she looked up. On the first floor, there was a person that lied on the banister, looking at her with an interested smirk.
This person was a moderately tall, fair skinned young man standing at a height of 180cm. He had nape-length, short white hair with cowlicks sticking out of his head and soft spikes, along with several loose bangs that hung over his sharp red eyes. He had a noticeably lean body with a very chiseled and muscular physique. Judging by his appearance, including broad shoulders and a slim waist, he seemed like one who rigorously trained frequently. He wore a black leather jacket over a plain white t-shirt. He also wore a pair of slim-fitting, dark blue pants and dark brown boots He also hold a red scarf around his neck.
"Sometimes a good entrepreneur knows the value of an object just by looking at it. That assures them a high loot as reward." The boy commented before making an acrobatic jump that made him land near Tsukuyomi, landing on his feet.
"Ah!" Tsukuyomi exclaimed for a second.
"You have a sharp eye, new one! We could talk more about it later!" The boy continued.
Ren Hiroto – The Deadly Flash – S-Class mage – Shogunate Pride
"Uuuuh…what is he talking about?" Tsukuyomi asked, looking at the others.
"That's Ren for you. Whenever someone mentions money, nothing can stop him from that point on." Hoshiko warned the other girl.
"Isn't it obvious? They're the thing that moves this world alongside magic! Whenever I get the chance, I go for them!" Ren said, standing still on his opinion.
"Do I really need to remind you what happens with those money you get, sir?" Fern then asked. And this time, it was Ren's time to blush.
"Oh, come on, it doesn't happen that often!" He protested. Everyone started to look at him with a sceptic face, even Tsukuyomi. She didn't know the details, but judging from Fern's words, she could have an idea.
"GUYS!?" Ren shouted before making a sigh. "Well, at least I get high prices from the missions, so I do have a backup!"
"You do know that you still owe me 2.000 jewels for that time I win that amusement park game, right?" Hoshiko remined him.
Ren remained silent for a few seconds and started to look elsewhere while whistling.
"So…is he that of a money grabber?" Tsukuyomi asked.
"He looks like it, but don't get tricked by that. He knows his stuff." Nobuhito told her.
"You could say I'm one who likes to dare with fate!" Ren added. "Anyways, nice to meet you, lady. I do have to make my congratulations to you! It's not that common to hear about Revany fall down! I do work with her, so I know what she can do." He then looked at the other girl. "Right Revany?"
Revany simply stared at him without saying anything.
"Say, how much did she talk to you?" Ren then asked to the other black-haired girl.
"Well…she did say something during the battle and when I woke up…but yes, she tended to stay silent. Why's the question?" Tsukuyomi replied.
"Let's just say…she tends to keep it short with words, that's all." Domino spoke up. "But it's just her personality, though! She's as kind as anyone here!"
To hear that, Revany looked down.
"Yeah…I could see it too! Though to be fair, for a moment I thought she was going to kill me…" Tsukuyomi commented with a little shiver.
"Let me guess, she did the whistle, didn't she?" Nobuhito asked.
The girl simply nodded.
"It's not that big of a problem! She just knows what a good presentation is, that's all!" Another voice suddenly spoke up.
Tsukuyomi turned on the left alongside anyone, and they could see someone else coming down from one of the doors from the first floor. Another member.
This one had quite a different outfit from the others, but It gave him attention. He had a long brown coat over a blue collared shirt, a belt over his jeans and brown gloves with white boots. Both his eyes and hair were cobalt blue and he even had a cowboy hat on his face. As soon as he came closer, he gave a bright smile at Tsukuyomi.
"You must be Tsukuyomi Dragneel right? Glad to have you abroad! I hope you'll have fond memories with us on the journey, and trust me, with these guys, there's a lot of it!" He quickly spoke before lending his hand.
Henry Luminol – Blade Blitzer – Regular Mage – Shogunate Pride
Immediately caught by his bright attitude, Tsukuyomi shook his hand. "Pleasure's all mine! And who are you?" She then asked.
"Him? He's just Lucky." Ren shortly answered.
"Lucky?" Tsukuyomi asked. Henry didn't seem pleased by that.
"Ah ah ah. Very funny, Ren. Just because I do happen to have some bad moments once in a while there's no need of giving me-" He was about to counter the nickname, but just as he said it, he stepped on a tile that jumped out and slapped him in the face.
Tsukuyomi seemed shocked, but the others looked at it as if it was the most normal thing in the world. "See? He's Lucky!" Ronin pointed out.
"Are…Are you ok?" Tsukuyomi asked.
The pile then fell down of its own, and Henry made a sceptic face. "Ok…next time I'll just shut up."
Wanting to leave that aside, Tsukuyomi gave a closer look at him and could notice the particular outfit. "You seem…a cowboy? Strange clothing for a guild like this…where did you get it?" She then asked.
"Oh, this? Well…if I were to tell you that I found them after I woke up a few years ago, would you believe me?" Henry asked, sounding strange.
"Eh-?" The more she was talking with them, the more she started to get confused.
"It's a long story, but we'll cut it for another day. Don't want to ruin the time nor the mood for the rest of the crew!" Henry replied.
"There's more? Gosh this makes me curious!" Tsukuyomi said, with stars on her eyes.
"Aaaaah! She has stars just like me, it's just adorable!" At the sight of it, Hoshiko was melting inside, but somehow she maintained it just in her mind.
"Yes, even if it doesn't seem there are a lot of people who passed through, and even tough ones! In fact, one of them is under your legs right now!" Nobuhito answered, pointing at under the table where Tsukuyomi was sat on.
"Uh-?" The girl immediately looked under the table and was shocked to see a person lying down there. The reaction was obvious.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! THERE'S A DEAD WOMAN HERE!"
To her surprise, the woman started to groan and slip out of the table. "Hmmm…what's with all the noise? And here I thought I found a comfortable bed…"
"B-Bed-?" The Dragneel mage wondered with her hair messed up for the scare.
The woman started to slowly stand up, feeling still dizzy, revealing most of her appearance. She was a lady with a slender, mesomorph body type with defined muscles. Her figure was mostly curvaceous, almost like a hourglass and she even had a large and voluptuous breast, probably the biggest among the ladies in the guild. Her face was heart-shaped with droopy light-green eyes. Her hair was long and pink and she wore a pink yukata with heavy pink and white floral pattern. The robe was left loose, exposing her breast more (much to some's displeasure), and she wore slim zori sandals. Tsukuyomi could also see a beauty mark on the lower left corner of her face.
The woman opened her eyes and looked around. As soon as she saw everyone, she made a goofy smile, looking like a baby. "Oh myyyy! Everyone is here? Did I perhaps fall asleep again? I think we were all here yesterday partying…that sake was pretty gooooood! It probably had an extra effect on me!" She spoke out before looking at the bottle she was holding. "Oh my…It's empty…no problem!" With her magic, she was able to summon back an alcoholic liquid on the bottle. "Much better!" Without hesitation, she started to drink it.
Tsukuyomi was speechless at such scene, as she looked at her with eyes without pupils and her mouth wide open. "I-Is she allowed to do that!?"
"Get used to it." Everyone else in the hall told her, even Revany.
"Aaaah…delicious." The woman commented before looking at Tsukuyomi. The girl could feel the terror on her face. "Aaaaah! You must be the new one! Tsukuyomi, right?" She spoke before running towards her.
"What is she-" Tsukuyomi was afraid…but she could have never predicted what was coming for her.
The woman jumped right on her, making Tsukuyomi's face get stuck in her breast. "I'm so happy to meet you! We'll be greaaaaaaaaaat friends! I can assure you!" She exclaimed all happy.
Iku Yamaguchi – The Drunken Beast – S-Class Mage – Shogunate Pride
Tsukuyomi was simply there…devoid of soul and emotionless after her whole being was severely damaged by this event.
Domino widened her eyes, Revany simply facepalmed, Ronin was shocked and Iori covered his eyes. "Don't look…" Fern gasped while Hoshiko seemed impress, and in the end both Nobuhito and Henry both burst out in laughter.
"AHAHAHAHAH! It's a shame I don't have the camera!" Nobu explained.
"Have some tact, for the love of God!" Fern exclaimed before occurring in the young girl's help. With a swift movement, she grabbed Tsukuyomi and put her away. "Iku! You can't just jump on her with your notable dimensions! You traumatized her!"
"Awww…I just showed some affection! Is it that wrong?" Iku asked.
"Not with that size!" Fern exclaimed before turning on Tsukuyomi. "Are you ok?" He asked.
Tsukuyomi didn't answer. She still had her pupils shattered and seemed more like a soulless doll.
By seeing this, Domino had a drop of sweat coming down from her head. "I…think she needs some moment to recover…"
A few minutes later…
"Ooooof…" Tsukuyomi took a deep breath once she recovered. The others made sure that Iku was fairly far from her.
"Feeling better?" Domino asked.
"Yeah…somehow…" Tsukuyomi replied with an off tone.
"Yeah, despite being one of the oldest here, Iku had always been like this. Though the jump it's a new thing actually…" Iori explained.
"And I'm proud of it, eheheh!" Iku added.
"Next time don't scare off newcomers like that-" Hoshiko told her.
"W-Well…at least I suppose that after this, nothing can go wro-" Tsukuyomi was then about to state something, but before she could finish it, she could sense two menacing presences from behind her.
"What's with the all that noise before?"
"Judging by our sight, it seems that they show excitement for the new member."
Tsukuyomi didn't say anything. She slowly turned around…and she made a hiccup.
Two enormous figures were standing right above her, staring at her. The first one was a rather well-built man with well-developed muscles he stood 190cm tall and had a head of white / blue shades hair that were not too spikey but had a middle parting separating the hair to go left and right side. He wore a white shirt over a purple oriental vest mixed up with pieces of samurai armor wrapped up with a straw ribbon. He also had two black fingerless gloves.
The second figure, instead, was a man with a lean muscular body that was hidden by his clothing. He had a lather large frame standing up at 185 cm. He had a diamond shape face with a small pointed nose and large sharp eyes, colored in dark brown with small narrow eyebrows. He had sports small ears and his hair were colored in black, medium in length that properly combs to the right. He wore a red haori over a pale-orange colored kimono with black unamori hakama pants and a pair of zori with white tabi socks. Both of them were incredibly imposing.
Tsukuyomi trembled at such sight. "Aaaaaaah…"
"Yori! Rokumon! You came as well! Eager to meet the new girl?" Henry asked.
Yori Yoshiro -Zen Lord – S-Class Mage – Shogunate Pride
"We were actually chatting on the courtyard outside when we heard someone yell out of panic. But after seeing this girl here, I can understand why. Someone turned out to be too invasive right?" Yori asked.
Rokumon – The Undying – Regular Mage – Shogunate Pride
"That mostly seems the case. Though I think she seems scared also now. I think we should calm her down." Rokumon suggested to the other tall member.
"Yes, that's most likely." Yori agreed before lowering on Tsukuyomi and put his arms on his shoulder. "I know we may scare you, but I can assure you that we don't intend any harm. Breathe in…"
Tsukuyomi immediately did so.
"Good…now breathe out." Yori continued.
And Tsukuyomi continued as well.
"Better?"
"Better…you're…pretty good."
"To be fair, I'm quite used to that. I do tend to see people right in the soul." Yori spoke out.
"Y-You mean…like her?" Tsukuyomi asked, pointing at Iku, who was dancing around, still in a clear state of thrill.
"Oh…now I see why you were panicked. Yeah, we apologize for her but…she's just like that." Rokumon explained.
"AY AY AY! I'M YOUR LITTLE BUTTERFLY!" Iku continued, more agitated.
At this point, Tsukuyomi needed to make peace with herself, so she sighed. "I get it…"
In that moment, from one of the doors from the upper floor came out another person. "Did something happen?" He asked.
Tsukuyomi clearly looked up, while Nobu greeted the person.
"Oh! You're here too! Come in! Greet the new girl!"
"Ah! Coming up!" The person exclaimed. As soon as they went down, Tsukuyomi could give a better look at them.
It was a young boy with messy blonde hair that were long enough to pass the ears and half way down the back of his neck, hazel eyes, white skin with a healthy-looking tan, a smooth looking face with sharp and slightly chiseled chin, making him an overall handsome figure if a little rough and a muscular and lean body that showed his training. He was tall 177cm and his clothing consisted of a black metal forearm that were connected to a black hand guard, a blue kimono with sleeves that went down to the wrist and up to the shoulder and armpit. The two sleeves were connected on the back and on the front, but unlike the back, which was connected like the regular cloth, the front was connected by a set of parallel lines that were attached to the right side and clamp on the left, black armored greaves that covered the front of the legs up to the knees and also covered the top of the foot, black rope shoes that have black cloth covering the skin. He also wore black hakama pants that had three matching silver lines on both front and back, a black waist cloth that was open at the front and went down to the knees, three silver lines on the border of the entire thing, black form fitting sleeveless top that went up to the base of the neck and under the kimono sleeves.
The boy looked up carefully at the girl, almost as if he wanted to analyze her. "Hmmm…so, you're the new one? You're shorter than I expected…" He commented.
Tsukuyomi seemed a bit offended, making a puffy mouth expression.
"Ah! Sorry, did I offend you? Wasn't in my intention…even to this day I don't know how to properly speak with girls…or anyone in general. I'm sure that you are something, considering that you were able to beat Revany." The boy said, apologizing immediately after.
"No, it's fine…and it was more than a tie than anything else. You…seem quite kind actually!" Tsukuyomi told him.
This naturally made the boy slightly blush. "Y-You think? This is a new one for me…anyways, I hope we can work together just fine. I'm also curious of how you can fight, judging by the fact that you have a nichirin sword…the name's Cal Armas by the way!"
Cal Armas – Regular Mage – Shogunate Pride
"The feeling is mutual." Tsukuyomi replied. "At least he seems normal…maybe." She thought.
"Were you perhaps holding some suspicious thought? I can see youuuuu!" Ren said after looking at her with a small smirk.
"No? No! It's all probably in your mind!" Tsukuyomi tried to defend herself.
"Anyways, what happened here? Did Iori crash again with a carriage?" Cal then asked, shocking the girl.
"…He did what?"
"THAT NEVER HAPPENED. HE LIES. END OF THE STORY." Iori promptly shouted out.
"Hmhm!" Ronin supported him.
"Anyways, nothing in particular, Cal. Just a simple misunderstanding between the newcomer and Iku." Yori explained.
"Oh…" Cal spoke before turning on Tsukuyomi. His expression looked dead serious for a moment, making the girl worry she made something wrong…but then he leaned a hand on her shoulder. "I get you, ma'am. You and I will get along very well." He spoke, exposing his embarrassment.
The girl with the kimono teared up a bit. "Someone who gets me…"
And right in that moment, everyone could hear the doors of the guild get slammed open.
"Where is she!? I've been told that she's here!" Another voice shouted out.
"Uh?" Tsukuyomi turned around while Revany sighed again.
"There she is…"
"Ah! It's her!" The person who just entered immediately started to run towards Tsukuyomi at an unexpected speed, reaching the other girl and grab her face. "I get to see you! Oh God, I'm so happy to find someone new! It had been ages since I've last joined the guild and I've started to feel a bit strange being the last one to join the guild but now I'll get what it feels to have a kohai! I really want to know a lot of things about- EERGH!" The person kept on talking continuously until Yori grabbed her on the neck.
"Shut. UP." He simply spoke before letting her go.
"Anf…come on, Yori! I just wanted to greet the new one!" The person protested.
"Yes, but there's a limit in doing so, sir. As always, you tend to exaggerate." Fern pointed out.
"It's just being me, that's all! And you keep calling me sir!" the individual protested.
"He actually does it with everyone." Nobuhito pointed out.
In all of this, Tsukuyomi witnessed the scene with once again, confusion. "So…she's another member?" She asked.
"Tammy Oaks. One of the youngest ones here." Hoshiko told her.
The person turned around with an innocent smile. A small girl in sature being only about 149cm with dirty blonde hair and an androgynous appearance. Her eyes were colored in silver and she wore a frilly white dress with grey heel shoes. She also had a large star tattoo on her left cheek.
"Hope we can get along! The more friends I get to talk with, the better it will be for both of us, right?" She asked with a hopeful smile.
Tammy Oaks – The Most Annoying Girl In the World – Regular Mage – Shogunate Pride
"Sure…I…don't see where's the problem honestly!" Tsukuyomi answered, tried to act it cool, though she was still puzzled by her introduction. In that moment, Iori came closer to him.
"In case, you're free to shut her up." He whispered to her, but Tammy overheard it.
"HEY!"
But then…large footsteps could be heard, making the earth slightly rumble. Everyone started to look around, and they realized that the noise was coming from the entrance.
"Well, well…the situation seems interesting here…" A big voice spoke out.
Tsukuyomi turned around and felt in alarm as soon as she saw it. "Ah!?"
A large red horned hogre holding a kanabo club in his hand was glaring at everyone with a devious smile. "So this is the new member of the guild, right? I'm really curious of what you can do, pipsqueak!" He spoke out, implying a menacing tone.
"A-A Oni demon!? Dammit!" Feeling endangered, Tsukuyomi quickly grabbed her katana. "I'll get him, don't worry!" She exclaimed.
"No wait You don't-" Domino tried to stop her, but the other girl was already dashing towards the monster.
"WREAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Tsukuyomi was already charging eclipse magic in her katana, but to her surprise, the Oni made a panicked face.
"AAAAAAH! NO NO NO STOP! IT'S A PRANK! IT'S A PRANK!"
"What?" Tsukuyomi asked after stopping. Seeing this, the creature could take a deep breath.
"S-Sorry…I thought I could lay a trick on you, didn't know you were going to react that way!" He spoke.
"Well, to be fair, you kinda asked for it, Sena. I mean, I would do the same if an Oni was going to attack me." Ren pointed out.
Tsukuyomi turned on him. "Sena?"
"Fair point…let me get back to normal." The Oni said before a giant pile of white smoke started to cover him. When the smoke got out, instead of the demon, there was a young boy standing 172cm tall with a lithe and lean build like a gymnast dancer. He had violet big puppy eyes, short but fully black hair that seemed messed up and he wore plain clothes consisting of a white tunic, black pants and traveler's shoes.
Sena Kojiro – Regular Mage – Shogunate Pride
"Once again, sorry about that! Though I have to admit that your reaction wasn't half bad! You surely have ready reflexes! No wonder you were able to take down a wanted and stand up with Revany!" The boy commented while crossing his arms.
Once everything was normal, Tsukuyomi sheathed her katana and looked at the other person curious. "So, you're a human…"
"That was his Takeover magic! Pretty neat, right?" Domino explained.
"And you didn't see the rest yet! There are a lot of supercool creatures I can turn on! But I'm also interested in that magic that surrounded your blade!" Sena added.
"Well, if you want we can talk about it later…would be nice to discuss about something I'm familiar with…STILL!" Tsukuyomi then pointed out.
"Oh oh…" Sena understood that a scold was about to come.
"You can't just greet a newcomer turning into a giant red ogre! That's just messed up!" The girl with the kimono explained, giving some light slaps on Sena's head.
"Aaaah! I said I'm sorry!" The boy exclaimed.
"Yeah, he is quite the prankster. I remember that one time he scared off three kids on a park. But he's a nice guy actually!" Henry pointed out.
"Y-Yeah…the Master gave me one hell of a scolding that time…" Sena commented on it.
Cal then started to give a careful look on everyone, noticing that the guild was getting full. "Is everyone here, then?" He asked.
"Well…everyone should be here, aside from the Master…" Rokumon replied before actually remembering something. "Ah! No wait, there's still one missing!"
"Really? Who?" Tsukuyomi asked, and coincidentally enough, someone could be heard getting in.
"Seems that you two called her!" Nobuhito jokingly said.
When she turned around, Tsukuyomi could see another girl that seemed to have a disappointed expression on her face. She was standing 170cm in height and had a slim figure, with at best a curved waist and being rather small in the chest and back area. She had lightly tanned skin that was noticeably darker compared to those with fair skin and she had full heart-shaped lips. She had a button nose and somewhat droopy tsurime eyes and eyelashes that were long when looked up at close. The eyes were golden in color and her hair were light brown and had an ombre into blonde towards the tips, notably at the bangs which fell on either sides of the face and reach her jaw in length. Her hair were thick and slightly wavy and wore in a ponytail that was bailed up into a bun at the back of her head, leaving about five inches of hair loose underneath the bun. She wore a golden bira-bira kazanshi in her bun that had a crescent moon design at its end and three small stars dangling from the crescent moon. She wore a long golden haori that reached past her knees in length, which was tied around her waist with a black obi. Underneath the haori, she wore a pair of black hakama that stopped below her knees, a pair of black tabi socks that reached her ankles and a black tengu geta that had a single four-inch tooth under the sole. The straps of the geta where of the same golden of the haori. Tsukuyomi could notice the trace of faded white bandages covering her chest and stopping above her midriff, with another bandage around her neck. She also had similar bandages over her arms and forearms, with the right arm bandages that were blended with the chest ones.
"Sigh…sorry if I'm late, but as always, that damm Morshu didn't want to make me a discount for those knives and I've ended up trying to persuade him before having to buy them with the regular price…just what is wrong with him? He knows me already, yet he tells me the same thing! He almost sounds like a-" The girl complained about a little misadventure she had and then interrupted herself once she noticed Tsukuyomi.
The two girls looked at each other in silence for a few seconds. The older member didn't get what was going on and why there was a stranger with the others…but realization soon knocked on her mind.
"OH SHIT! THE NEW MEMBER!" She exclaimed before immediately starting to run towards her and make several bows. "I'm terribly sorry! I've heard that you passed the test battle but I didn't know you were coming this early! Forgive me for being late!"
"No, no! There's no need of! I mean…I've waited three days to come, so there's no hurry, right?" Tsukuyomi told her, feeling a bit sad for her.
"Oh…eheh…sure…" The girl then stood up. "Anyways…I'm…Rere Takara. Welcome to the guild, then! And please don't mind my manners, I tend to…act like this in public."
Rere Takara – 10-Jewels Takara – Regular Mage – Shogunate Pride
"Nice to meet you! I'm Tsukuyomi, but you probably heard of me." The other girl told her.
"Yeah…you beat Revany, right? I would have never been able to do so. I mean…" Rere said before turning on Revany. "She's…so scary…" She then commented.
The Sith mage simply stared at them without saying anything.
"To be fair, I was a bit creeped out when I first saw her…" Tsukuyomi thought. And now, she gave a look around, and could see the guild full of what seemed to be impressive mages. All of the samurais…were now there.
"There's all of you now…and I'm among you now…this is so amazing…" She commented.
"Feeling pretty good, uh? I can assure you that everyone here is a great person, so apart from being in a well-renowned guild, you'll be sure to have great company!" Henry assured her.
"Well…most of us, at least." Iori added, looking at Iku, who made a small laugh.
"Eheh…my baaaad!" She said with still a childish tone.
"Did I…lose something with her?" Sena asked.
"Oh, nothing much, just a small hilarious episode!" Nobuhito replied.
"Yeah, and maybe it's not a good thing to point out…" Domino told them.
"In any case, whether she likes it here or not, we'll see it with time. Either way, we hope you'll find this place of your liking, especially considering that you'll live here. You come from another region, right?" Fern then asked.
"Yes, I'm from Iceberg. Does that mean that you also live here?" Tsukuyomi replied with another question.
"Yes. Most of us come from various places and we ended up getting here. After getting used to it, it's hard to not live here! It's almost like we are all a family! True, there are people who live in places outside their guilds, but it's not in our style." Domino answered.
"I see…that's why Revany used the term 'roommates…'" Tsukuyomi pointed out.
"But please! Talk us a bit about yourself! Can't start a bond without knowing each other! Let's see…ah! How old are you?" Nobuhito asked. Rere immediately stomped on his foot. "OUCH! What was that for!?"
"You can't just ask a woman their age, come on! You even forgot the bases!?" Rere told him.
"Ah, no! It's not that big of a deal if he wants to know. Anyways I'm…" Tsukuyomi was about to tell the answer…but she stopped herself for a moment.
"…Are you ok?" Rokumon asked.
"Oh gosh, considering what Erza told me…should I tell them my true age? N-No, maybe not…I don't want to scare them…they could even call me an old bagger…" She carefully thought. It was clearly a better move to tell them the age she was showing, so she spoke out. "Twenty. I'm twenty."
"Wait, seriously? You're five years older than me then…" Sena pointed out.
"My kohai is older than me! Don't know how to feel about it…" Tammy added.
"Interesting…pretty much in line with most of the members here. A good amount of us is in their twenties, though there's also who's older. Like Iku." Yori commented.
"Aww don't say it like that! I may be thirty-six but I still show the energies of an iiiinfant!" Iku answered with her usual laugh.
"Should we…make her stop?" Ronin asked to his partner Iori, who shook his head.
"She would probably start immediately after…" He spoke.
"You took some time to answer though…how so? Did you perhaps forget about it?" Henry then asked to Tsukuyomi.
"N-No, of course not! Just that…I was thinking of something else." The black-haired girl replied, hoping to divert the topic in order to avoid more embarrassment.
"About what?" Cal asked. But Hoshiko intervened on that.
"Ok, let's not exaggerate with questions. Maybe she doesn't like being at the center of attention." She pointed out. But her mind was somewhere else. "Though she would be super cute with her cheeks bright red…"
But Tsukuyomi shook her head. "No, it's not like that, really! In fact, this is actually the first time someone pays me this amount of attention…back in my house I didn't have many friends."
"I can get you…" Rere told her.
"Oh! So you like being at the center of attention! Just like me!" Tammy exclaimed, already happy to see a similarity between her and Tsukuyomi.
"I don't think she means it in the same way as you do…" Cal pointed her out.
And then, as the chat continued, everyone's attention got caught by a clap of hands that made them turn around and look towards the upper floor.
The one who made it was a woman that stood in front of the door that stood at the center. She had brown hair in a bobcat and a medium-length foliage that reached half of her back, brown eyes and was wearing a red and white oriental vast with sandals and tabi socks on her feet, much like the three little girls that were close to her.
"Who's that?" Tsukuyomi asked.
"Yukari. She's the wife of the Master, but she doesn't serve as a complete member of the guild. She mostly helps around." Iori explained to her.
"Oh…" The girl simply breathed.
"Thank you all for the wait. The Guild Master has arrived." Yukari simply spoke before moving to the left, leaving space for the coming person.
Tsukuyomi slightly widened her eyes after hearing of the Master and then turned around to see a surprising thing.
All the members of the guild were in line and kneeled down with a serious expression. Even people like Iku, Nobuito, Henry and Sena abandoned their carefree faces and were focused on showing respect.
Tsukuyomi didn't expect it at all and didn't know what to do. In order to not show any form of disrespect and not knowing how to behave, Tsukuyomi kneeled down as well, and waited with the others.
And then…from the central door of the final door, a figure came out and slowly started to go down the stairs and meet up with the rest of the mages until he was in front of them, while the wife and the three daughters followed him behind.
"Good day, my friends! Glad to see you in health." The Master simply spoke.
"GOOD DAY, MASTER." All of the members said with a high voice.
To that, the man simply smiled and looked Revany. "Forgive me for being late, Revany. Did you bring her here?" He then asked.
Without standing up, Revany pointed at Tsukuyomi simply with her eyes. "The girl who passed the text, Tsukuyomi Dragneel."
The Master nodded and walked towards Tsukuyomi. "You may raise your head now." He simply spoke.
Still sweating, Tsukuyomi slowly raised her head and finally made an eye contact with the Master, which left her completely puzzled, since he was completely different from what she expected.
The master turned out to be a quite young man around his thirties with long wavy hair that reached his calves and clear lilac-colored eyes. He was wearing a long kimono that wrapped up most of his body colored in white from the neck to the upper part of his belly and blue from the lower part of the belly to his ankles, making it look like an endless sky. On his feet, he wore a pair of black sandals and white tabi socks and he had a long odachi katana attached on his back.
Dohko Tenshimaru – The Lingering Will – Guild Master of Shogunate Pride
The Master started to give a closer look at the girl and gently lifter her head with his thumb and index fingers. Tsukuyomi didn't do anything and simply let him do so, fearing of what would have happened. "Hmmm…a wealthy body, even if a bit pale skin…a fancy dress, and a medium length katana…an overall nice look." The man commented. "I've been waiting to meet you, Tsukuyomi, ever since you sent the request letter for joining us. Now, since you've joined us…I was waiting to make you one. Simple. Question." He then spoke out with a deep tone.
Tsukuyomi didn't do anything, but the pressure was still clear, and the other members could see it but didn't say anything. What pressured the girl the most was that the Master looked at him with a dead serious stare, implying that maybe he wanted to know something extremely specific.
This made the girl swallow. "…T-Tell me…?" She asked.
Dohko continued to look at him with a serious stare for a couple of seconds and then…
"What's your favorite food?" He asked with a playful smile.
"…Eh?" Tsukuyomi asked.
"What's the thing you like to eat the most? You'll eat it as your first dinner here! We need to celebrate your arrival one way or another!" Dohko repeated.
Tsukuyomi looked at him in silence, still worried. To be sure, she turned on the other members of the guild, who looked at her with a smile.
"You can go!" Nobuhito told her.
"Uhm…Omelette…with ketchup." She simply answered.
"Good! Then you'll hear eggs gets fried tonight, right darling?" Dohko asked to his wife, who nodded.
"Sure thing my dear!" Yukari replied.
"Very well, you can stand up now!" Dohko then told everyone, who did so.
Tsukuyomi stood up confused. "Wait…is that it? No…interview or something?" She asked.
"There's time for that. You can tell us about you in the future, no further pression, don't want to give a bad impression as a Master after all!" Dohko told her. "You thought I was one of those super extra prejudicial Masters, right? I could see it from your expression. Don't worry! I'm not like that idiot of Jiemma from Sabertooth of Fiore. I always make sure to make everyone feel at ease, right guys?"
"Yes, Master!" Everyone said with a happier tone.
"One thing is assured! With Master Dohko, you'll always feel at home!" Sena suggested.
"Plus, if you thought otherwise we wouldn't have acted like this with you, don't you think?" Henry added.
"Speaking of which, Master, what took you so long? We got the time to see the girl for ourselves." Yori then asked.
"The truth? Well…I was sleeping. I think I didn't digest well that chicken of yesterday." Dohko said while scratching his back. This made some of the members fall down for the stupidity.
"Well…at least Henry didn't cook it…" Iori pointed out, making him annoyed.
"Hey! What's that supposed to mean!? I cook just fine!" Henry exclaimed.
"That time when you cooked a Takoyaki proves otherwise, actually…" Cal pointed out.
"GUYS!"
Tsukuyomi looked at everyone as they chatted and were overall happy of the new addiction. Sure, it all started with her with some pressure…but overall, the excitement remained, and even if some members of the guild seemed bizarre…she could sense that they were nice people (Maybe except Iku).
"Man…this is…surely a lively place." She commented. In that moment, Domino came closer to her.
"You like it?" Domino asked.
"You kidding? This is…wonderful. I've always seen guild from a normal civilian perspective but…seeing it like this…I think I'll get a whole world open! Plus, it's a guild that resembles me a lot! I'm sure of it…I'll be able to be myself here." Tsukuyomi replied.
"Just wait to live adventures with us then! True, they are hard, but there's always something satisfying in staying with us." The other girl told her.
Tsukuyomi then turned to Revany. "And I can see why you described them as lousy, but…they don't seem that bad! Well…most of them." She commented.
But Revany looked at her with a sceptic face. "For you maybe…" She spoke.
"Don't mind her. She's always like that but deep inside she cares a lot! Even if she doesn't show it." Domino explained. To hear that, Revany simply looked elsewhere.
"Yeah, she's just like that! After all, the dark and grooming girl gets a lot of attentions so it's fine!" Nobuhito commented.
"And that's not all, my dear Tsuki!" Dohko then pointed out.
"T-Tsuki?" The girl with the kimono asked.
"A funny nickname like I gave to everyone here! Back to the topic, you'll feel even more complete after tonight! After all, no mage can feel themselves a full member of the guild after an officialization, right?" Dohko asked.
"Right…" Tsukuyomi simply replied. She didn't know yet what that particular event meant, but seeing the premises of the guild she joined…she didn't hide a side of curiosity in it.
Luckily for her, she didn't have to wait long. Time flew on…and the sun soon went behind the mountains, leaving space to the moon.
That night…
The moon shined its pale light over the palace of the Shogunate Pride guild, while the inside was darker, illuminated only by several candles placed inside the hall. This was a tradition for whenever the guild…had to greet a new member.
And once again, the tradition took place.
The members of the guild were all gathered around, sitting on pink pillows, while Tsukuyomi was standing at the center. All of them had their pillows on the ground, while the Guild Master, Dohko, was sitting in front of the new girl, with his family standing on his left.
Tsukuyomi looked pretty tense, even if it wasn't going to be something tedious. The other members had a more serene look on their faces, waiting for the moment to occur.
Dohko then opened his eyes and started the speech. "Tonight we are gathered here to embrace a new member in our ranks. A new mage. A new warrior. A new samurai." He started. "Someone that, apart from showing her skills and strength through the test battle, showed the purity of her heart, in her good will to help a mage from another guild catch a criminal that infested the roads of our town."
Hearing that last part surprised Tsukuyomi. He knew of what she had done of Kabuto, and this made her happier.
"To all these qualities, her reward can only be to accept her in good heard in this guild, who hosts those who want to find their own road. Here, gathered around, and with the aid of the spirits of the warriors who left us…we embrace her with open arms." Dohko continued. "May I have your weapon, please?" He then asked.
"Sure…" Tsukuyomi promptly took her katana and pulled it out to give her to the Master. Once the man had the weapon in his hands, he looked at his wife, who passed him a small bottle with a dye oil. Dohko put two fingers on it and then passed it slowly on the sharp blade. "These are the requirements that every samurai has." He spoke out.
Tsukuyomi saw him as he gently made particular small forms on the blade, that soon turned out to be kanjis. Dohko made four of them.
"力 – Chikara; Strength. To stand up and fight those who threat the balance of Earth Land and magic. 忠誠心 – Chusei kokoro; Loyalty. To remind you to who your heart should be truly dedicated, to remind you who's going to guide your path of life and to remind you to be sincere in every battle you'll face. きれいな心 – Kireina kokoro; A clean mind, which will allow you to focus on the battle you'll face and prevail in them. And finally…家族への名誉 – Kazoku e no meyio: honor to family…to always remind you those who love and cheer for you that are an indelible part of your heart and will always be with you, no matter what."
Four combinations of kanjis. Four important elements.
"The elements that define a samurai…are now entrusted within you. If you stick with them and never betray yourself…no enemy will be able to block your way." As soon as Dohko ended his speech, the four words made with oil started to shine of an aquamarine light, surprising the girl. The words turned solid, inserted in the metal of the blade, as if they were already a part of the katana.
"Woah…" Tsukuyomi remained speechless to such sight.
"And with this said…the last piece! The guild mark." Dohko continued.
Homura came closer to Tsukuyomi, holding a stamp in her hands. "Where do you want it?" She asked.
Tsukuyomi thought of some seconds about it…and then took slightly off her kimono. To this sight, Cal immediately blushed and turned around.
"If possible…I would like it here." She spoke.
The little girl nodded and slightly pressed the stamp on the point of the back near the neck. "Color?" She then asked.
"Hmmm…clear blue!" Tsukuyomi replied.
And as magic, once Homura took off the stamp…the mark appeared on Tsukuyomi's back, with the color she asked. The little girl passed a mirror on it.
Tsukuyomi used it to see the mark and needless to say, she was extremely happy with it. The samurai helmet was now on her skin as well. "Oh yes! My mark! This means that…"
Dohko nodded. "Number XVII: Tsukuyomi Dragneel. You are now an official member of Shogunate Pride!" He proclaimed.
"YEEEEEEEEEES!" Tsukuyomi suddenly shouted, making a large jump. She realized what she had done a minute later, making a little gasp. "Oh sorry…did I overreact?" She asked.
A small moment of silent followed and then everyone made a small laugh (except Revany). Seeing that reaction, the black-haired girl slightly blushed.
"I have to say, that's one good reaction! I did the same when I got nominated, if not worse!" Sena commented.
"I wouldn't say overreact, girl! It's pretty normal! I mean, who wouldn't do that!?" Nobuhito added.
"Remember when I got elected? I threw an arrow out of excitement!" Tammy then remembered.
"Yes, and you almost broke one of the chandeliers…" Fern pointed out.
"I don't know about you guys, but I would show our new friend how excited we are to have her here!" Henry said before starting to get closer.
"I like the idea!" Domino added.
"Count me in!" Hoshiko exclaimed as well.
"Save it for me!" Even Dohko came closer.
"WEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Needless to say, even Iku ran towards it.
"H-Hey, what are you doing!? Woah!" Soon, Tsukuyomi found herself lifted up by various members of the guild, who threw her high. "WOAAAH!"
"Congratulations!" Everyone exclaimed while keeping on throwing up high.
"Aww, seeing these scenes make me so happy! I would join in but…I fear they might step on me…" Rere commented slightly intimidated. She then noticed that Cal was also standing there, looking at the scene. "Won't you join them, Cal?" She asked.
Cal was extremely red in face and looked down. "I-I don't want to end up seeing her underwear…" He commented.
To hear him, Rere made a small laugh. "Now, now! I'm sure she has something beneath that kimono…I hope so."
Yori looked at the scene with a small smile while keeping his composure. "We still need to see what she can do, but I can already see that we'll be just fine." He commented.
"…Hmph." Revany simply looked at the scene while taking a drink.
Ronin, in the meantime, started to fly above Tsukuyomi while she was thrown up. "Welcome to the group, nya!"
At this point, Tsukuyomi couldn't keep her joy anymore and started to tear up. After many days of decision, she tried to tempt fate and prevailed. Still…she didn't expect to see such acceptance, especially after everything she had been through in the past. "I…I never expected to see all of this…I...I….THIS IS JUST THE SECOND HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE! I ALREADY LOVE YOU ALL! WAAAAAAAAH!" She shouted out, crying like a little girl.
"Hey guys! She's crying! I think we should throw her higher!" Rokumon suggested.
"WHAT!? NONONONO- AAAAAAH!" Tsukuyomi protested, but without effort.
After a while, they stopped, and Yukari came closer. "And as we promised…here you go!" She spoke before revealing one of the tables with over 15 plates of…
"AAAAAH! Omelettes with ketchup!" Tsukuyomi exclaimed with stars in her eyes.
"Please, enjoy it!" Yukari encouraged, not knowing what was expecting her.
"DON'T MIND IF I DO, YUKARI!" The girl immediately dashed towards the plates, emptying them with outstanding speed and shocking the others.
"OH MY GOD, SHE'S EATING LIKE A TORNADO!" Ren shouted out.
"IF SHE CONTINUES LIKE THIS SHE'LL HAVE A STROKE!" Domino added.
"Should we stop her?" Yori then asked at Dohko, who had an entertained smile.
"Naaah, she's enjoying herself, leave her be! She reminds me of when Iori eats actually!" Dohko answered, making the other member of the guild blush.
"Come on! It only happens when I'm starved!" Iori commented.
The night continued for a little bit…and eventually, the candles were turned off.
Everyone soon went to bed in order to rest and be ready for the following day. Soon, in the mountain above the city, pure calm and quiet were dominant, with only the crickets and occasionally owls to be heard. The lights were turned off in all rooms of the guild…but one person was still awake.
Tsukuyomi was sitting in her new bedroom, which belonged to a former member of the guild, writing a letter with a pen, addressed to someone dear to her.
Dear mom
Sorry if I haven't written for a few days, but trust me, the last days were just bizarre and incredible! First, I've wanted to tell you that I was able to land safely on Caelum and I've waited for their answer a couple days. And from that point on, I first helped the mage of another guild taking down a criminal, then met up with one of the guild and faced her to get in! It was hard, but I was able to win, and now…I'm writing directly from their building…as one of their members. Yes, mom! I've made it! I've joined Shogunate Pride! I still can't believe it! The rest of the members are quite…strange If I'd say, but they all show good intentions, so I'm not entirely scared by what's going to come. Even the Master turned out to be completely different from what I expected. He seemed a complete playful person…and very kind. Considering that I've become an official mage working for a guild, it'll mean that I'll dive into more battles, and I know how much you're worried about my safe…especially after everything that happened in the past. But…I came here exactly for this reason, to make sure that other people like us and the rest of our village won't suffer the same injustices. Through time, I've affiliated my skills with both dad's katana and my eclipse magic. Staying here, I'll probably get stronger. And in case something happens…I'm sure I won't be alone. I have more fellow samurais on my side now! Still…I wish you could visit me here sometimes…I still want to see you several times. I hope things are doing well in the village, send my regards to my friends. I hope to see you soon.
With love, your daughter Tsukuyomi.
After finishing up the letter addressed to her adopted mother, Tsukuyomi laid down on her futon and looked up. It had been a long, yet incredible day for her. And now, all that was left was to see which surprises the future had for her.
"Alright…tomorrow it's time to work! Let's get ready! …ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" As soon as she said it, she instantly fell asleep.
The next day…
The mountains are the first places where the sun laughs at the faces of those who want to keep on sleeping, and as such, the mountains were already colored in their regular green and gray color. This could only mean one thing for the guild.
Work time.
"Hmmm…" Tsukuyomi could feel that the sun had already risen up, which meant that she needed to get up. "Oh…it's daytime…time to get up and-" She tried to stand up but found herself stuck in something…squishy. "Wait…where am I…..AGH!" Once she realized it, her pupils shattered once again.
Laying besides her on the bed was Iku, who held her tight, making Tsukuyomi's face get stuck once again on her…chest.
"Hmmmm…man this is sure a soft pillow…" Iku said while holding Tsukuyomi's head.
The black-haired girl's face turned full red, and then…
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" A loud shout could be heard from all around the mountain, loud enough to scare off the birds.
Somehow, Tsukuyomi was able to get out from her grasp and went as far as possible from her. "I-IKU!? WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY BED!?" She shouted.
"Hmmm…uh? This doesn't seem my room." Iku opened her eyes, groaning and laid her eyes on the other girl, who was breathing heavily. "Woah, hi Tsukuyomi! I think I have walked up in here while sleeping…funny, right? Eeheh…Hic!" She spoke.
"NO! PLEASE GET OUT OF HERE!" Tsukuyomi didn't want to hear anything and told the other girl to leave, still with the face bright red.
"Oh, don't be shy! It's normal for comrades to show some girly affection…am I right?" Iku asked before noticing that the other girl was still clearly in a panic state.
"Ooook! Guess it's still too early for you! Don't worry! Don't want to make you feel more uncomfortable! I'm going to the gym! The others are there, see you later!" With those words, Iku stood up and came out from the room, leaving Tsukuyomi to make several deep breaths.
"I-I still don't get it…how can she be that sneaky? I…I don't think I'll ever see alcohol in a normal way again…" She commented. Right in that moment, though, she remembered of something the woman just said. "Wait…gym?"
After getting out from her own room as well, she gave a look around and noticed that the main hall was empty, both in the ground and upper floor. There wasn't even a fly around.
"Where is…everybody?" She wondered. She started to wander around, in search for them, but they didn't even show up in the angles. She thought of the idea of sneaking in the other dorms, but she didn't want to be invasive like Iku. Then…she started to hear several voices, even if faintly, from the upper floor. "Hm?" When she came closer to the noise, she could see that it was coming from a green door in the upper floor that was standing a bit distant from the dorms' ones. She put an ear on it, and she could recognize the voices of the other members of the guilds.
"Are they here?" She wondered. Eager to know the answer, she opened the door…and what she saw…wasn't what she expected. "Is this…?"
All of the members were inside what seemed to be a gym, just like Iku said. The gym was mostly colored in green, both on the walls and on the floor. On the other side of the room, there were several mirrors that reflected the overall room, which was large enough to host all the people inside of it, even for small training match. What surprised Tsukuyomi the most was to see that every tool used for physical exercise was present. Treadmills, exercise bikes, weights…everything was simply there.
And the rest of the guild was present, doing a large variety of exercises, and all of them seemed deeply focused.
"A gym…so that's what was she meaning…" Tsukuyomi said, as she came closer.
In that moment, Sena turned around and noticed her. "Oh, hey guys! Tsukuyomi's here!" He commented.
"Morning!" Everyone said.
"Did you sleep well?" Domino asked.
"Uhm…morning! Yes, I've slept fine…until this morning. I-Iku jumped on me again…" Tsukuyomi replied, trembling a bit.
"Iku! What did we tell you on sneaking into others' rooms!?" Fern asked her.
"Come ooon! I was starting to get hot, so I went to a colder place!" Iku said.
"Uhm…don't worry! Next time we'll make sure it won't happen again…" Iori apologized.
"So…what are you exactly doing?" The new girl then asked, still confused.
"Simple! Every day we do two good hours of physical exercises to make sure we're keep our physique well trained. And since today it's Monday, we'll do it on morning." Dohko told her while coming closer to him.
Tsukuyomi turned on him and felt…a bit confused upon seeing him wearing a quite fancy white gym uniform colored in white and blue. The sleeveless t-shirt had a drawn clouds with the written I stay chill on the clouds. But the strangest part was that he was wearing sunglasses for some reason.
"Uhm…morning, Master…" Tsukuyomi greeted him, not knowing what to say.
"Be honest, you're attracted by the fanciness of my outfit." Dohko told him with a nonchalant tone. Though the reaction of the girl was another one.
"Uuuuuh…"
In that moment, even Hoshiko came, showing off her light shirt with a drawn muscular mouse holding a weight with the written Bet you want to be as cool as me, short light pants and a pair of white trainers. "If I may say, Master, we all know that when it comes to outfits…I'm the flashiest one." She commented with some sparkles around her.
"Sure thing, Red ✡ Star!" Dohko replied before turning on Tsukuyomi. "Anyways, if you already have a gym suit I suggest you to put it on. The exercise also applies to you, so flex that skin!" With those words, he turned back on doing his exercises.
Tsukuyomi gave a look at everyone and felt a bit out of place. Therefore, the solution was simple. "Hmmm…I should have one, now that I think of it." She thought. "Be right back!"
"And we'll be here waiting." Hoshiko told her. "I wonder how she'll look with her outfit. Everyone here is super cute…" She thought.
A few minutes later, Tsukuyomi came back with a black and suit consisting of a white sleeveless shirt with a black sun on it and the written VOID, a pair of long pants striped in black and white and simple white trainers with black spots. "Ok, I'm ready!" She proclaimed before coming closer. By looking around, she could see the various members busy in their exercises.
She could see Domino run on a treadmill, Hoshiko lifting weights, Iori exercise with a mannequin, Cal and Yori spar in the distance, Tammy bounce on a large ball, Rere jumping on a rope, Revany lifting two small weights and so for. The girl was really spoiled for the choice.
"Hmmm…so many things to do…I really don't want to step behind…everyone seem to have a fairly built up body so I should blend in somehow…what can I do…?" She wondered.
After a few seconds of picking up a choice, she could see something that attired her: a small punch bag attached to a portable column with wheels.
"Hm! Not really in my style, but it's already something!" She commented.
A few seconds, and she was already into it, trying to deliver punches as fast as she could while moving around the small punchbag. Even if she wasn't used to bare-handed fights, she found herself pretty comfy for some reason. "Ooof…" She then noticed something that made her happy. "Oh yes! Sweat! It means I'm using energy!"
"Oh! I see that you've started with some good old boxing." Rokumon said from behind her, making the girl turn around. "If that's the case, I could show you a more effective way on using it. Might increase your reflexes whenever you can't use your katana." He suggested.
"Oh, sure! You make me curious now!" Tsukuyomi said with a smile.
Soon after, Tsukuyomi started to deliver several punches at Rokumon, who kept her at bay while wearing hand wraps. While they were training, the young girl kept on moving, so Rokumon had to keep up with her movements, which was a quite easy thing to do.
"Hmm, impressive for a new member. Considering that in order to get here, you had to take on Revany, I suppose that you already made some training before." The tall man presumed.
"Well…yes. But I'd rather not going into details if that's not too much…" Tsukuyomi replied, feeling a bit uncomfortable.
"Don't worry. No need to." Rokumon answered shortly. The training between the two of them continued, until Henry got curious and came closer.
"Hey, you move pretty good, Tsuki, but If I may, I want to show you some skill! Just a clear proof of what we can do here!" He spoke.
"Uh? Oh, sure." Tsukuyomi agreed, moving a bit away. After that, Henry quickly wore two boxing gloves and approached Rokumon. In an instant, he started to make swift movements while attacking Rokumon's hands, which hold up the hits. Henry quickly jumped from one angle to another as he continued, surprising even more Tsukuyomi.
"Wow!"
"See? That's how you do it proper-" Before Henry could finish the line, Rokumon gave him an heavy fist by surprise and sent him to crash against the wall. Tsukuyomi looked at the scene with wide open eyes while everyone else turned around.
"…You ok, Lucky?" Ren asked.
Henry raised a thumb up while he stood there. "I'm fine!"
Confused and amazed by his outstanding strength, Tsukuyomi looked at Rokumon. "I like to do pranks once in a while." He spoke with a small smirk. He and the girl resumed their training shortly after.
In the meantime, Fern was training his muscles through the use of a back machine. Despite being put at the max level, the samurai mage was able to pull up the levers with ease, surprising Sena, who looked at him.
"That's impressive! Hey, how about you let me try?" The young boy asked.
"Are you sure? It's set on the maximum level." Fern warned.
"Naah, I'm a member too! It won't be that hard for me! Let me show you!" Sena insisted, and as such, Fern stood up and let him try. The other boy didn't lose more time and put himself in the position. "Time to show you what I can do!" He tried to pull up but…
"NGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Anf…don't worry…I've got this! NGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Anf…anf…anf…" The levers didn't move of an inch.
An embarrassing silence followed between the two mages.
"…Can I transform?" Sena asked.
"No! Do it yourself." Fern protested.
After a few minutes of trying, Ren came closer brought by curiosity. "Hard, eh?"
"Y-Yeah…" Sena simply replied.
"Let me give a try. Let's see what I can do!" The other mage then proposed. Sena quickly stood up, tired for it and Ren took his place, starting to pull up the levers.
"NGHHHHHHH ONE! Anf…NGHHHHHHHH TWO!" Unlike Sena, Ren showed a bit more of strength…but just enough to pull up once every couple of seconds.
Even Iku came closer with her usual smile. "Aaaah nice job! Let me try!" She asked. Once Ren got up, Iku took her place and started to pull the levers with ease, even if they were at maximum level.
Sena was shocked. "Woah! W-With such ease!?" He exclaimed.
"Sometimes I forget how strong Iku actually is…with that smile you could ever know…" Ren commented on the other hand.
"And you know how she acts in battle. So, it's really not a surprise for me." Fern added.
Domino, in the meantime, was using high parameters as well, as she ran through the treadmill at level 9 of speed. Despite this, she turned out to be on pace with the slide. Rere was besides her, making more jumps with the ropes.
"Hmmm! It seems that you're reaching my level of speeds!" Domino noticed.
"No, don't say it like that! I'm just…standing here, bouncing up. I could never reach your levels, I mean…look at you!" Rere replied. "If I were to pass on one of those I would probably end up on the other side of the gym! Well…unless I would use my magic, but in that case, I would probably break it…"
"No need to exaggerate! Though this gave me an idea…I could make some practice with mine as well, once Iori has finished with the mannequin." Domino said while turning on the other mage, who was giving his best against a simple doll of straw.
The young mage held tightly his two katanas and jumped in the direction of the mannequin before making the swords rotate and generate several air slashes that reduced the target into pieces. Once the mannequin was broken, the floor behind it opened, making it fall and get replaced with another mannequin.
"Great job, Iori!" Ronin exclaimed while clapping his little paws.
The mage removed the dirt from the two blades by simply making a swift with them. "Hmmm…maybe I should go directly for the attack instead of jumping next time…" He considered.
Rere looked at the scene a bit taken aback. "S-So cool…" She commented.
Meanwhile, Hoshiko came closer to heavier weights, the ones someone needed another person to serve as support while doing the weights.
"Aaaah, we finally arrive to my best part…take bigger weights…AND LIFT!" She spoke before turning around. "Is anyone-" She wanted to ask if there was someone who wanted to help her, but she could see that everyone was busy in something else.
"Damm…hmmm…welp, I guess there's no other choice." She spoke out before taking a key with a particular green emblem representing a leaf. "Open, gate of the spring! Aki!" After the command, the key released a golden light, from which came out a new figure. He was a boy with blue hair and yellow eyes, wearing what seemed to be a blue vest with bareback, long leather pants and black boots. Apart from his androgynous look, he also had two long pointed cat-ears.
The being, Aki landed on his feet and looked at her owner. "Hoshiko, did you call me? What do you need?" He asked.
"Can you help me with the weights?" The girl asked with a dull face.
"…You…did you really call me just for this?" He asked.
"I mean…the others are busy…" The ninja girl answered quite sincerely. The cat boy could see that she wasn't lying, still it annoyed him a bit.
He made a deep breath. "Fine. Come on get it down."
"Nice!" Once it was settled, Hoshiko laid down on the axis and started to lift the weight as best as she could. Sure, it was heavy, but she could do it. "AAAH!"
"COME ON! YOU CAN DO IT!" Aki encouraged her.
"I CAN DO IT!" Hoshiko answered to the encouragement and started to lift more frequently.
"YOU'VE GOT THE MUSCLES!"
"I'VE GOT THE MUSCLES!"
And the situation went on like this for a while, catching Tsukuyomi, who looked them from afar confused yet intrigued by that spirit that helped her. "Who's that?" She asked.
"Oh, that's Aki, one of Hoshiko's spirits. She's a Celestial Spirits mage, she can summon them through the use of keys." Rokumon told her, surprising the other girl.
"Wait, really!?" Tsukuyomi explained. "I did hear about that type of mages…but I never expected to see one of them!"
"She can be quite lethal with them. you still didn't see her in battle." Rokumon added.
"You say so?" Tsukuyomi asked before her attention got caught by something else. She could hear some clashing noises that made her turn around, and what she saw slightly surprised her.
It was Cal and Yori, who were having a little spar far from the others, to make sure that the clash didn't get the others.
"They're…fighting?" Tsukuyomi asked. Even Revany turned around, curious about those two. Even if she knew them at this point, she wanted to know how far they had come.
The younger mage glared at the more experienced one before starting to run at extreme speed towards him. Yori didn't move and instead waited for the enemy to come.
As soon as he was at an acceptable distance, Cal held his katana tightly and started to run around Yori while unleashing several attacks. The other mage remained in his position and started to defend himself with his particular weapon, a double-bladed katana that could guarantee him an attack in both sides. Though for some reason, he let himself get attacked by some of them.
Seeing an opening, Cal tried to go with a more direct attack, but Yoshi slammed the katana right in front of him at the exact second when the younger mage's blade came across the blade. The result was the two weapons clashing and generate a small shockwave.
"Incredible!" Tsukuyomi commented before noticing something in particular.
Cal's eyes seemed off, cold and serious, as if he removed anything from both his brain and heart. All that he could see seemed to be Yori, who was standing in front of him.
"What's with…his eyes?" The girl wondered. To her surprise, Revany gave her the answer.
"Yesterday, you learned the four qualities that define every samurai. Here in Shogunate Pride, despite keeping in mind all of them, most of us decide to increase the value of one specific trait, in order to make ourselves stronger both mentally and physically with the one trait that resembles us the most." She spoke before looking back at the two. "And in Cal's case…he focuses on the third trait: きれいな心 – Kireina Kokoro – A clean mind…the same you used to take me down."
Tsukuyomi heard her carefully. "A clean mind…"
Cal and Yori kept on glaring at each other for a few seconds, until Yori could feel a sudden heat from Cal's blade and noticed that it was covered in flames. "Hm!" Seeing that, he jumped away, but the other samurai was already charging his attack.
"Applied Magic: Fire." With a cold tone, Cal intensified the flames on his blade and released them on a large tongue of fire that aimed directly at Yori, who slightly widened his eyes and put his double-bladed katana in front of him to defend himself. The flames enveloped the tall samurai, causing a small explosion. When the smoke came out, Yori had a few burns all over his body, but somehow, he was still standing.
Despite this, Cal immediately threw himself to attack and this time, his blade was enveloped with a small tornado. "Applied Magic: Wind." He immediately attacked Yori repeatedly, with every clash generate slashes made out of wind magic.
Even with this power, Yori was able to stand up and defend himself with his weapon. Seeing this situation, Cal jumped up and tried a dive attack, when Yori seemed to have an exposed vulnerability.
"What is he doing!? He's gonna get hit!" Tsukuyomi exclaimed, but Revany stood there impassible.
"Don't talk yet."
And in fact, as soon as Cal was ready to finish the match…
"FURUKAUNTA-REVENGE!" Suddenly, Yori released an outstanding magic blast with his weapon that made Cal wide his eyes. But the blast was inevitable and he got hit and sent away.
"NGH!" Despite the impact he was able to regain balance and land on his feet, staring back at his opponent, whose stare seemed incredibly pacific.
A few seconds later, Yori stood up and sheathed his weapon. "I think that's enough for today." He spoke.
As soon as he said this, Cal's eyes turned normal, and he started to breath heavily. "Anf…anf…anf…" The two of them then bowed down to each other.
Tsukuyomi was simply left speechless. "That blast was incredible…how did he do so?" She asked.
"That's Yori's magic: Furukaunta. He stores most of the attacks he gets during a fight and then releases that same amount of power back at the enemy. A risky yet incredibly strong move. Getting attacked by Cal's blade was partially his purpose." Revany explained.
Tsukuyomi was simply puzzled after hearing this. "D-Damm…it's…something you definitely don't want to mess with!" She commented, shivering a bit.
Yori came closer to Cal and placed his hand over the boy's shoulder in a friendly way. "You have improved a lot. Your reflexes have surely become quicker and more effective. Although I think you're still a bit too aggressive when you launch yourself into attack. Focusing only on the enemy is surely a vital fact in a battle, you should keep a small trace of yourself." He then gave an opinion on his comrade's opinion.
"Is that so? Honestly…whenever I fight, I don't know why I act like this. It simply becomes natural. But if you say so, I'll try to be more careful next time…" Cal answered.
"It's not a flaw. Everyone fights in their own way. You simply need a bit of control, that's all." Yori added.
"Thanks again for this sparring, Yori-shishou." Cal thanked.
"No problem at all. Now rest a bit. You used a lot of energies." The other mage suggested.
"They're really…on another level…" Tsukuyomi said to herself before looking at her katana. "Well…I'll try do improve as well! Don't want to step behind!"
In that moment, Dohko came at the center of the gym after he controlled Nobuhito lift his body on a metal pipe. "Ok, you're all doing good! Now it's time for our daily collective exercise!" He proclaimed.
"Hm? What's that?" Tsukuyomi asked.
"Oh that's quite simple actually!" Nobuhito answered. And in fact, it was actually simple.
Shortly after, all of the members of the guild were all lined up, doing pushups, including Ronin. Dohko was in front of them, encouraging them with a megaphone. All the members, even Tsukuyomi, were somehow able to keep up with the exercise, even if they already used most of their energies.
"KEEP GOING! YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING! I'M THE BEST COACH YOU COULD EVER HAVE! YOU GUYS JUST KEEP SENDING IT!" Dohko shouted through the megaphone. "REPEAT WITH ME: OINK! OINK! OINK!"
Everyone was confused…but either way, they repeated while doing the push-ups.
"Err…OINK! OINK! OINK! OINK!"
A few minutes later…
Everyone sat on the ground, regaining air for the big effort, while Dohko stood up and clapped his hand. "Ok, great job everyone! Even you Tsukuyomi! Not bad for your first day!" He spoke out. "Now, get your thick bodies inside the showers to take off that sweat smell and after that, breakfast time finally!"
"YEEES!" Everyone shouted happily.
"Thank you for the support, Aki!" Hoshiko then thanked her celestial spirit."
"Next time call me for something more serious, please!" Aki complained with a sceptic face before turning back on his key.
"Gee, he'so prickly sometimes..." The samurai commented.
The gym section of the day was over and everyone went on the showers, which stood at the second floor. They were separated between males and females, and they mostly consisted of small bricked rooms with a pair of twenty showers disposed on the left and on the right and with small circular manhole, where all the water ended up. Bottles of shampoo and other bath stuff were disposed in a small cabinet to make sure that everyone had what they needed to completely clean themselves. Considering that they just made a lot of physical exercise, it was quite comfy.
As she washed her body alongside the rest of the female members, Tsukuyomi closed her eyes in relax, as she let the hot water pass through her body. "So good…" She then opened her eyes and noticed the other girls talk to each other (Except for Revany).
For some reason, her stare lowered down and her eyes met up with their…breasts. Her face turned red and she quickly turned around. Apart for embarrassment…she felt somehow a sense of inferiority. "Now that I think of it…my chest is quite small…"
Luckily, she was able to put that thought away as she continued to wash herself. Though Domino could notice her.
"Hm? Is there something wrong, Tsukuyomi?" She asked.
"NO! No…not at all." The black-haired girl quickly replied.
Hoshiko could see what she had and made a small smirk. "Well, not anyone can get used that early in washing with other people!" She commented.
"It reminds me of my first days…" Rere added.
"So what? I don't have problems! Look at me!" Tammy said, spreading her arms, but she quickly got a small karate chop by Revany. "OUCH!"
"Don't exaggerate." The other girl simply spoke.
After the shower was over, everyone put back their regular clothes and reached the main hall ready to finally eat.
As Tsukuyomi went down the stairs, she could already see everyone was sitting in one of the long tables, including the Master's wife.
"Come, Tsuki! I'm sure you're hungry after all that training! There's a free seat there!" Henry called her out, pointing the seat.
For her it was a first experience, but she accepted the offer gladly, and went for the spot. Once she sat, she could realize that she ended up between Yori and Rokumon. It was strange to be that small and yet between two giants.
In that moment, Rokumon passed her a bowl of rice with a small bento box. "Make sure to eat it up. You need to be at full energies for your first missions." He suggested.
"T-Thanks…" Tsukuyomi replied.
Dohko then made a single clap to gather the other members' attention. "All right! As always, let's all thank our precious Yukari as always for the wonderful meal, and let's be grateful to have Tsukuyomi here for the first time! Hope you'll enjoy your stay here at the guild!"
To that, Both Yukari and Tsukuyomi scratched the back of their heads in embarrassment.
"Oh don't be that way, darling I only do my best!" Yukari said.
"And with this said…" Dohko started.
"GOOD APETITE!" Everyone concluded.
Everyone started to eat, some fast while others preferred to take their time. Tsukuyomi was part of the first ones. Once she tasted Yukari's cuisine, her voracious instinct prevailed and she started to eat fast. "Splendid…" She commented before looking at Rokumon. "You know, it impressed me on how you were able to keep up with my movements!"
"I've got used to it." The other samurai simply commented while eating.
"Rokumon here is pretty much a rock in our guild. You surely don't want to be on his bad side. Though it's better if you don't say too much on him. He's quite gullible." Ren explained. Though Rokumon didn't like the last part.
The taller man looked at Ren annoyed. "Hey! That's not true! I'm not gullible! Santa Claus told me in that letter!" He exclaimed, making Tsukuyomi confused.
"Rokumon, Santa Claus doesn't exist!" Dohko told him.
Rokumon gasped. "But you said-"
"I lied!" Dohko retorted.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Rokumon cried out.
"See what I mean?" Ren asked to Tsukuyomi, who nodded.
"Y-Yeah…" The girl shortly replied.
"Don't worry! We're not mean with him! He's a pretty good guy." Nobuhito spoke up before looking at Revany with a smirk. "Am I right, dear Revany?"
The black-haired woman looked at him with a deadly stare. She didn't need to add anything. That look said everything.
Nobuhito's expression remained the same…but he moved backwards of a few inches. The noise of the chair slipping away could be heard.
Meanwhile, while she was eating, Tammy seemed nervous. Some could have thought that she had a bad thought in mind, but in reality, she was thinking of something else.
"Daaamm…I want to say something to the newcomer! I mean as a senpai of hers, I should tell her about a few things, maybe about the guild, or in general what's her favorite dress- Aaaaah! So many choices, so many questions I can make and yet I can't decide which one to make first! What should I do, what should i-" She kept on while keeping on eating but then…
"So, what was being the last one before me?" Tsukuyomi asked.
"AH!" Tammy suddenly woke up from her mental dilemma and turned on the other member. "Oh…so she ended up making the question first…that means I'm likeable! Jackpot!" She thought before turning on the girl with a proud smile. "Oh, nothing that particular! I was able to conquer anyone with my charisma!" She spoke.
Everyone looked at her with a sceptic face, except for Dohko.
"…See? They're all caught up!" Tammy insisted. "Why the question though?" She asked with a drop of sweat, hoping to change subject.
"There wasn't really a particular reason, just wanted to know a bit more how it felt, and reading on the list I saw earlier, you were the last one before me." Tsukuyomi explained.
"Nothing in particular. As you could see, we're quite open! I was the last one before Tammy and they treated me nice! Well…apart from when I do my usual pranks, eheh." Sena answered for her.
"And I'm surely the one who greets the most!" Iku said, while holding a cup of wine in her hand, despite the fact that it was around 10:00 A.M.
To that sight, Tsukuyomi shivered a bit.
"We don't have particular opinions for who's older or who's newer here. Everyone has the same treatment both in the guild and out of missions. If anything, we're a bit curious." Fern added.
"Y-Yeah, I could see it…" Tsukuyomi commented.
"Did you not like what happened yesterday?" Domino asked.
"No, no, I'm not saying this! It was one of the best things that happened to me! It's just that…I come from a small village and…it's mostly a new thing for me to talk and get greeted by so many people…so it was a bit…weird." Tsukuyomi said.
"Hmmm…quite sincere. I like that." Yori commented.
"And I can get what you're talking about. I'm not that used to nice comments after….nevermind! Eheh…" Rere added.
"Everyone acts differently, here, it's not that bad! Revany doesn't talk that much and as you can see, she's with us!" Ren said.
The grim girl didn't care and continued to eat.
"Aaaah dammit, I've wanted to give the answer…" Tammy thought.
In that moment, Tsukuyomi took up the list again and noticed something. "Speaking of which…what are these titles?" She asked.
"Oh, those? It's a nomenclature that define us better. Something that makes us more memorable to the others! Even other guilds use it!" Nobuhito replied.
"They give us a cool vibe! Honestly, I'm happy with the one I gave myself: Blade Blitzer! You gotta admit it had its charm!" Henry added.
Tsukuyomi then gave a look at the list again, confused a bit about Henry's statement. "If so…why does Tammy have this one?" She then asked, referring to her embarrassing title.
The Most Annoying Girl In The World
"Oh, I gave it to myself! Just for the purpose of make every enemy be on guard when they face me!" Tammy replied proudly.
"Quite fitting if I may say- COUGH! Hmmm…this tempura shrimp is good." Revany commented, making sure that no one heard her.
"Want to give yourself one as well?" Dohko asked, curious of her answer.
Tsukuyomi looked at the paper, especially at the empty space in the title section. She didn't mind if someone else gave her something, considering also that not all members had it, but on the other hand…she might have been cute, so she thought of it…and the answer came pretty quickly actually. Since her eclipse magic, and since she was somehow an important daughter…she came up with a suitable title in her opinion. She wrote it down and then showed it to everyone.
"Uhm…opinions?"
Everyone gave a look.
"Uuuuh! Fancy! Reminds me of a princess of some sort!" Nobuhito commented.
"Yes…flashy indeed." Hoshiko added.
"If that makes you feel comfortable, then it will be so! Nice choice, if I may add!" Dohko told him.
Tsukuyomi felt relieved somehow. "Thanks guys…ok then!" And as such, she had her title as well.
Tsukuyomi Dragneel – The Morning and the Evening Star – Regular Mage – Shogunate Pride
Once she was done with the title, Tsukuyomi gave a second look at the list and noticed something particular. "Wait a second...Iori...Yori..." She looked up at the two members with those names. "You...you guys have the same name?" She asked.
"Eheh, yes...strange, right? We can assure you that it was all a coincidence." Iori replied, a bit embarassed. "It didn't bother us that much. The problem rises up when someone needs us."
"Just so you know, i'm the Yori with an Y and he's the Iori with an I. If you specifically need me you can call me Yoshiro or call him Crimson." Yori added.
"True...using the last names seems more useful. Though...it's really bizarre-" Tsukuyomi commented with a drop of sweat coming from her head.
The meal continued smoothly and it ended up with Yukari having to do acrobat moves to hold all the plates. "Eheh, surely it's a hard thing to hang out with all this stuff!"
"Are you sure you don't want help, mistress Yokai?" Iori asked.
"No, no! I can handle it! I've already endured having the girls in the belly, I can do this! And you know it's Yukari, by the way!" Yukari insisted.
"Ah, dammit, again…" Iori said to himself, with Ronin patting him with his paws.
Tsukuyomi then looked around. "Now that I think of it…where are they?" She then asked, referring to the girls.
"At school! Where else?" Dohko replied. "Even if they were to join the guild in the future, I do wish them to be educated."
"…What about the underage members?" Tsukuyomi asked, referring to members such as Iori, Tammy and Sena.
"Don't worry, we got our ways." Iori replied.
"I still remembered when I surprised Nobuhito with my math skills!" Sena added.
"He's ironic." Nobuhito pointed out.
"Hey! At least I didn't stab you with a fork!" Sena exclaimed.
"It was just awful! You made that multiplication entirely wrong!" Nobuhito retorted.
Tsukuyomi looked at them argue with a nervous smile before turning on the Master, trying to find something else to talk about. And in fact, a pretty obvious question came into her mind.
"So…what should I do now?" She asked.
"Well, isn't it obvious? We send you to your first mission!" Dohko answered, surprising the girl.
"Oh! Really? Already?" She asked.
"Of course. Even if you're new, you can't just slack off. Time to show us what you can do, sir." Fern told her.
"Honestly, I'm not against that option!" Ren called out.
"Me too!" Iku added.
"No problem. I'm ready! I mean…since I'm now part of the guild, it's only natural, right? Plus, I've already helped a mage on a quest, so I think I can handle it!" Tsukuyomi answered, showing intention and excitement.
"Already like your spirit. Ok, then! Pick up a mission on the dashboard. It's on the upper floor." Dohko then told her.
The Dragneel mage didn't lose any time and quickly went there. The dashboard was something every guild had, since it was mostly the place where civilians could put their requests and let the mages do their job. Shogunate's Pride one turned out to be quite whole. The girl wasn't surprised, since they were well renowned. But still…she was spoiled for choice.
"So many…let's see…" She took a few minutes to decide and then…one light brown paper caught her attention. She gave it a good read, thought it was ok, and then reached Dohko, showing him the paper.
Dohko read it as well and nodded. "Hmm! Seems reasonable enough! So you want to go for tough challenges, eh?" He asked.
Tsukuyomi picked that mission by coincidence, but she decided to nod.
"Very nice. Now…let's see who could join you in this quest. I don't want to make your start lonely and this could help you cooperate with the rest of the members." Dohko said while turning on the rest of the guild.
"Sounds fine to me! I listen to people a lot!" Tsukuyomi said happy.
"Let's see…who should I choose…" The Guild Master gave a careful look to anyone, who were eager to hear him.
Instantly, Tammy started to run around and jump to be seen. "UH! ME, ME, ME, ME!"
"Someone else?" Fern asked with an angry sign on his head.
"Hmmm…" Dohko kept on looking, wanting to choose carefully. And the girl continued.
"ME, ME, ME, ME, PICK ME, ME, ME, ME, ME, I'M IN, ME, ME, ME, ME, I'M AVAILABLE! ME, ME, ME-" Revany shut her mouth, but Tammy kept on going even if she was gagged.
"Hmmm let's see…Cal!" Dohko then made his choice, surprising the boy.
"Oh, me? Sure, count me in." Cal said, eager to help.
"I've seen what he can do yesterday…I should be in good hands…" Tsukuyomi thought, looking at him.
"Let's add someone else…" Dohko said, wanting to choose someone else…that meant only one thing.
"ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! M E!" Tammy continued, somehow getting free from Revany.
"Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm…Rere! Yes, these two should go fine!" The Master decided in the end.
"Awwww bollocks…" Tammy said with a resigned tone.
Everyone soon turned on the light brown-haired girl, who stood silent for a few seconds. She still didn't realize what the Master said.
"…Ahahahahah! That's a good one! You have a nice sense of humor, Master! Come now, who's going to join her?" She said, thinking it was sarcasm.
But the Master didn't say anything and made a smile at her.
An embarrassing silence followed…and the girl realized it.
"…Wait…you're serious?" She asked.
"Yup." Dohko shortly answered.
…
"…Uh? WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!? W-W-WHAT ARE YOU SAYING, MASTER!? WHY ME!?" Rere shouted.
"Why not? You seem fit enough!" Dohko replied still with a carefree tone.
"WHY? YOU KNOW WHY! I'm terrible! I would drag them only to trouble! Come on, there must be someone better!" Rere tried to protest, but her superior already had a clear idea in mind.
"If you were that terrible as you say, you wouldn't be here. You know what you can do! Plus, think about it, this could be a good chance to get out of your inner bubble, don't you think?" The Guild Master insisted.
Though Rere didn't seem to be convinced enough. "Eeeeer…"
"These are the Master's orders. You know you can't exactly argue with them." Yori reminded him.
And it was true. Even if she was hesitant…she could sense that somehow, Dohko's words were correct. Tsukuyomi seemed a nice person, so spend time with her could have helped her as well, alongside the rest of the crew.
In the end, she made a deep sigh. "Fine…I'll go." She answered before reaching Tsukuyomi and Cal.
"Don't worry! I'm sure everything will be fine! You surely have more experience than me!" Tsukuyomi tried to cheer her up.
"T-Thanks…" Rere simply replied, still not that convinced.
"I suppose that's everything then? I wonder how this will turn out." Cal commented, making the Master nod.
"Indeed. You'll now head towards the designated place of that mission and accomplish it. Rere, Cal, I'm counting on you with making this a solid first experience for Tsukuyomi. The same goes for you, girl. Don't hesitate in front of the challenge. Show them the true pride of the shogunate!" Dohko told them with a happy yet serious tone.
"YES, MASTER!" Both Tsukuyomi and Cal shouted with the same tone.
"Yeeees…" Rere followed.
Everything was settled. The first mission was waiting the new girl. A new, mysterious, yet exciting experience. Now that she was there, she couldn't do much more than that. And as such, with firm decision, she followed the other two mages and headed out of the guild.
"You picked up an interesting combination, Master. I wonder how this will turn out." Rokumon commented.
"You know I have a keen eye. There's a reason I picked them. I didn't do it only for Tsukuyomi. The other two might need it." Dohko replied.
"We know it well. Cal will make it, I can talk for him. Still…could this be the birth of a new team in the guild?" Yori wondered.
"That would intrigue me as well…let's wait and see." Hoshiko answered.
"We can't do much more. Even if Rere has her problems…maybe an experience like this won't be that bad." Iori added.
Dohko then clapped his hands once, gathering the others' attention. "The same goes for you! Time for work!" He exclaimed.
"YES, MASTER!" Everyone shouted.
In the meantime, the three members were already making their road down the mountain to reach the city and then head to the station. Their mission was in another part of the region, so they needed to take a train.
"My first mission…ooof! I can't stop shaking…though If I don't know if it's for fear or excitement…" Tsukuyomi commented.
"In case, remember to keep your mind clean, and everything should be fine." Cal suggested.
"Eheh, yeah. I could see it myself. Revany told me a lot about it." The black-haired girl replied.
"I hope so…but…if the Master entrusted me with this it means I can do it! Y-Yeah, it won't be that bad! Count me in, Tsukuyomi! What's the mission about?" Rere asked, trying to be optimistic.
Tsukuyomi took the paper back and read it. "Hmmm…according here, it's about some sort of…monster." She spoke.
…
Rere turned around with still her smile, which turned into a worried expression. "Oh no…"
And that was finally it! For a moment, I feared it might have turned super long, but luckily, this didn't turn out to be that long. It was surely shorter than some of my Digimon Adventure 04 or Fate/Twin Roses chapters XD! As you could see, this was mostly a more relaxed chapter focused on properly introducing each of the OCs that I've received. It was hard, but I tried to give a proper space to each one of the characters, even if there were 17 of them. In case there's no need to worry! There's a whole story to dig deeper into each one of them! Overall, I've had a good time writing this chapter, even if I had some worries on my mind. Making the characters as faithful as possible was challenging but a fun ride at the same time! I hope I was able to make it so!
But of course, I leave the final word to you! Did you like the chapter? What are your ideas on Shogunate Pride as a guild? But most importantly, what do you think of its members? Which one intrigues you the most? What do you think they'll be able to do? As always, let me know in the reviews, your opinion is important!
I thank you for the time you spent in reading in this chapter, which concludes the Prologue Arc! The first part of the story will mostly consist of several smaller arc before going into longer and more complicated ones. With this said, I once again thank you, I hope you'll continue to like what I'll do and I'll see you next time!
From Bluestar here, Arrivederci!
