June 4th; Summer vacation is closer than ever as the summer buzz continues to fill everyone with a sense of joy and happiness with many people in school and college reaching their final exams for their terms and are either preparing to relax and enjoy themselves for the season or continue working towards a certain degree through summer school and such.
Today, however, one particular woman (a golfer) and her Partner Pokemon, a male Toucannon by the name of Touckey, were not relaxing as they were hiding out in a wall looking anxiously around for an escape route as if they were trying to get away from something or someone chasing after them. The two of them nodded as they prepared to make their move until they were soon hounded by several news reporters, surprising them as they looked at them as cameras flashed and the reporters hastily banged them on about something that was a touchy subject for them.
"Kahili!"
"Excuse me, Ms. Kahili?"
"You are Kahili, are you not?"
"Can we have an interview with you for a moment?!"
"You're on a losing streak right now, don't you think it was lasting a little too long for your liking?"
"And, why did you make your return home to Alola in secret?"
"There are even rumors that you might, well, retire!"
The unexpected attention and constant badgering they had to endure became too much for the golfer woman, Kahili, to bear, and seeing his partner in distress with no chance of escape from them getting in the way, Touckey proceeded to let out a furious long squawk that terrified the reporters and got them to back off and leave them alone for a moment.
"Touckey!" Kahili called, getting his attention as they managed to escape before they could chase after her.
"She got away!" the reporters groaned, seeing that they disappeared.
Later, Kahili and Touckey were walking through the woods but despite finally getting away from the reporters as she looked around, the golfer sighed in sadness and disappointment over what had just happened.
"Kahili?" Touckey purred as he rested his head next to her, feeling sympathetic for his partner; it had been a rough time for him and Kahili as she had gone through a serious losing streak in her sports profession and now, she didn't know what to do to get her head back in the game and break out of her funk.
"Thanks a lot for saving me back there, Touckey. You're a lifesaver," smiled Kahili before she gave a sad sigh as her losing streak in golf had shattered her confidence to pieces, unsure of what she should do with herself in her current state. "Now, what am I supposed to do? I don't want to keep losing if it meant being hounded by those reporters again and I just don't know what to do to turn our fortunes around. Maybe, it's time for me to give up golf, after all..."
"I know, Kal, but..." Touckey mused, feeling sorry for his human partner and wondering what he can do to help or wishing that there was somebody out there that could help her get her confidence back until he heard the sound of something hitting an object. "Hmm, what's that?"
Kahili soon took notice of Touckey hearing something close to them until she heard the sound as well. They both turned to their right and to their surprise, they saw Sarah and her friends and family playing baseball in the schoolyard. One of the lessons she and the gang were taught concerned sports including Pokemon Baseball and since the little princess and her human family didn't know anything about Pokemon Baseball, her friends are giving her a crash course on the sport. Tsukumaro, Doug, and Delilah joined them for the day (eager to learn about it as well given that such a sport didn't exist in their time) as they and the rest of her family watched from the sidelines with the gang's Pokemon.
On the field, Sarah was up as the batter and Kiawe was the pitcher with Turtonator and Pyroar acting as the umpire and catcher for the three of them were teaching her how to first hit a baseball with a baseball bat.
With them was Ash on Sarah's side as he wanted to help demonstrate how to hit a baseball as he held one of the bats they were using for their sports lessons.
"Go get 'im, Partner!" Pikachu cheered for Ash.
"So, Ms. Mallow, as I understand it, you younguns today call this sport... 'Pokemon Baseball', correct?" Tsukumaro quizzed Mallow as he scratched his chin curiously while everybody on the sidelines watched anxiously and eagerly.
"That's right, only instead of a full team of only humans playing the sport, Pokemon get to join in on the fun, too," Mallow smiled.
"As was the case in Pokemon Diving, Pokemon Baseball relies on the baseball players and their Pokemon working as a team to not only score home runs by hitting a baseball with a baseball bat without making any fouls but also to ensure they catch balls so they score three outs to give themselves a chance at bat while ensuring the other team doesn't score first," Sophocles added.
"What an interesting concept you kids thought up at this age," Doug pondered, interested.
"Okay, Sarah, this is how you do it. Watch me and do what I do," Ash said to the princess as he smirked at Kiawe and pointed his bat at him. "Watch this, Kiawe! Get ready for a Gigavolt Havoc Home Run!"
"And, I'm determined to make sure that home run will never happen," Kiawe taunted playfully before he turned to Sarah. "Watch me, Turtonator, and Pyroar, too, Sarah; this is how you're supposed to throw a ball as the pitcher."
"Calculating the chances of Ash hitting a home run, calculating...YIPE!" Rotom-Dex buzzed as he worked out how Ash would fare in making a home run before he was shoved out of the way by Mienshao as he was blocking her, Delcatty, Boltund, and Talonflame's view.
"Move it, Captain N! You're blocking the view!" she barked.
"This 'Pokemon Baseball' must be an interesting novelty these children are playing," Zelda mused.
"Very novel if they, besides Young Sarah, know anything about it," Link agreed.
"Look out, here it comes!" Kiawe warned playfully, prepping himself to pitch the ball and getting Ash ready to take the hit as he kept his grip on his baseball bat, both of them smirking at each other. "Here's...the pitch!"
Getting his aim and seeing his chance, the Fire Type student let out his best pitch on the first serve with Ash swinging his bat and hitting it in the air, making Kiawe gasp in shock and think he had been bested.
"Yes!" Ash grinned as he watched the ball go into the air only for his hopes to be dashed as he realized he ended up with a foul (the ball having traveled sideways after he hit it) and groaned in dismay, bringing relief to his friend and rival.
"Ash, is that what you guys call a foul when it goes like that instead of straight up as you put it?" Sarah quizzed, getting a confirming groan from Ash.
"You got that right, Sarah."
"But, at least he hit it," Sophocles and Lana nodded.
"But, it sure did fly fall, though," Mallow commented in agreement before she noticed it falling down towards the school entrance. "And... And, now it's falling!"
"Oh, no! The ball!" Ash cried as he rushed off to catch it just as Touckey and Kahili arrived to see what they'd heard while they were walking, putting themselves right in the ball's trajectory and shocking Ash, Kiawe, and the little princess.
"Hey, look out!" Sarah shouted as the two trainers gasped in alarm, catching Kahili and Touckey's attention as they saw the ball coming.
The two of them were shocked but remained calm and reigned in their emotions as Kahili set her bag down, allowing Touckey to take out one of her golf clubs from her bag and hand it to her. Then, taking her place with a perfect sense of concentration, keeping her eyes on the ball and seeing her chance when it came within range, she pulled back her club and hit it, sending it flying at blinding speed past everybody watching with perfect accuracy. Everyone was shocked as they saw it fly by and reach the school bell.
Then, the ball bounced around several times while inside it, greatly annoying Komala as he was asleep before he kicked it away when it fell toward him before it reached Turtonator and he caught it with ease in his baseball glove.
"Hmm?" the Blast Turtle Pokemon hummed in surprise.
"FORE!" Zorua cheered before she laughed.
"What was that?!" gasped Sho in shock, not understanding what just happened.
"Amazing! Truly amazing," blinked Hydreigon in awe, looking at Kahili and Touckey and the ball in Turtonator's glove as everybody else turned to the golfer woman and Toucannon in question in total amazement.
"Incredible!"
"Dude! Did you guys see that lady whacking the ball like that with that stick in her hands?!"
"I see it but I don't believe it-bzt!"
"Sweet Beefy Buzzwoles!"
"Ooooooh!"
"Wow, that cool lady just hit the ball like it was nothing!"
"She's wonderful!" Audino, Wyveon, Manteon, Duke, Mew, Nebby, and Nebula breathed in fascination and shock.
"She hit it back!" gawked Kiawe.
"So cool!" Lana added, awestruck.
"And, that Toucannon with her, such reaction time and a perfect display of trust and friendship! What a bond they shared!"
"It's all a split second when they saw it and braced themselves as they did the way they worked in unison like that!" Guardeon and Breezeon remarked, amazed.
"Remarkable!"
"Sweet!"
"Cool!"
"Amazing!" Tsareena, Togedemaru, Snowy, and Primarina chirped, also gobsmacked by Kahili's precision and her and Touckey's teamwork.
"Those two are incredible!"
"But, who are they?" Zamazenta and Zacian quipped, the latter asking the million-dollar question on everyone's minds as they stared at Kahili and Touckey, still in awe and shock at the pair.
From out of nowhere, a woman with a Toucannon made an incredible shot that puts some of the best golfers around the world to shame, even those belonging to male golfers! Who is she and what did they come to Alola for?

Pokemon Sun & Moon - The Warrior Princess
"Are you okay, Miss? We're so sorry, we didn't know you two came here while we were practicing!" Sarah apologized to Kahili and Touckey as she and everybody else approached, feeling guilty about not noticing them approaching until the last minute.
"I'm alright, no need to worry," Kahili replied kindly.
"Yeah, sorry about the ball! But, that return of yours was super cool!" Ash complimented as they got closer and closer to the pair.
"STOP RIGHT THERE!" Touckey bellowed protectively and gave off a harsh glare, startling everybody as they got too close to them and not wanting a repeat of what he and Kahili had to go through with the reporters from before.
"Yo, Toucan Man, chill out!" peeped a flustered Brawleon.
"We were just trying to pay you a comment!" added a startled yet indignant Jolteon.
"It's okay, Touckey," chuckled a sheepish and understanding Kahili as she petted her partner to soothe him, having him relent and soften his glare but continue to keep an eye on him should they try anything funny against them. "I'm sorry, Touckey was trying to protect me, that's all. We just had a bit of trouble running into a couple of persistent reporters earlier."
"I see... On behalf of everyone here, I apologize for us startling you guys. So, you just passing by or something?" Sarah smiled warmly.
"Yes, and don't worry about it. You see, we were able to shake off the reporters and we were out on a walk until we heard you all playing Pokemon Baseball so we decided to see what was going on and you surprised us with your ball. So, where am I?" Kahili explained before she looked around the Pokemon School and its field.
"This is the Pokemon School," Kukui smiled as he approached the gang, Kahili, and Touckey.
"Pokemon School?" she echoed in surprise.
Kukui nodded as he went on, recognizing Kahili immediately, "Right. And, you are...Kahili, right?"
The golfer woman smiled sheepishly as she confirmed her identity to him and everyone else, "Yes, I am."
"Kahili?! Then, you must be the famous Master Golfer from Alola! I've seen you before when you were competing! My name is Mallow, it's such an honor to finally meet you!"
"That explains why you could hit the ball like that with such accuracy and precise power!"
"I've seen your name all over the internet, you're quite the sports superstar! I'm Sophocles and if I tell my dad I met you before he did, he's gonna be so jealous!" Mallow, Kiawe, and Sophocles gushed.
"Hello there, I'm Ash!"
"My name's Lana."
"I'm Lillie, nice to meet you!"
"Hello there! My name is Rotom-Dex!" Ash, Lana, Lillie, and Rotom-Dex greeted.
"Kiawe, and can I please just say...? That shot you did earlier, it was super...! My competitive spirit IS IN SUCH COMPLETE AWE!" Kiawe added a little too passionately as he started crying with joy over meeting Kahili, supposedly revealing himself as her biggest fan.
"Take it easy/Calm down, Kiawe," sighed Turtonator and Pyroar sheepishly with a sweatdrop as they held him.
"Yeah, dramatic fanboying aside... I'm Asha and these two with me are my parents, Nikki and James," Asha introduced herself. "I'm also Sarah's sister from my side of our family."
"Hey, there."
"Nice to meet you, Kahili," smiled James and Nikki in greeting.
"So, you're the famous Kahili we've been hearing a lot about recently. I'm Doug, Doug Tomoe," smiled Doug and he bowed to the golfer woman before he introduced his wife and their grandparents as they nodded in greeting with warm smiles on their faces. "This here is my wife, Delilah, and these two are our parents: David and Donna."
"And, I'm Sarah, it's nice to meet you, Kahili," Sarah replied in greeting.
Kahili blinked in surprise and awe along with an amazed Touckey as they realized they were face-to-face with the Alolan Royal Family until they composed themselves and bowed back as she sheepishly greeted, "Nice to meet you all. And, it's an honor to meet you and your family as well, Princess Sarah."
"Well, I wouldn't go that far with the title..." Sarah admitted bashfully before she looked at the golf club. "Kahili, that stick in your hands, did you use really that to hit the ball when it was coming at you and your Partner Pokemon?"
"Yes. In fact, this right here is a golf club," she confirmed, holding her club out for everyone to see as they looked in awe.
"Fascinating..."
"What an extraordinary piece you have there..." David and Donna (former queen) blinked in amazement.
"Would it be alright if we all have a look, too, please?" Mallow asked curiously.
"Yes, please!"
"Me, too!" Sophocles and Kiawe smiled, eager to see her golf clubs.
Kahili hesitated for a moment but she eventually composed herself again and agreed, "Oh, yeah. Sure, go ahead."
Touckey nodded as he turned to his partner's bag and handed out the golf clubs he and Kahili allowed them to see, passing two of them to Sarah and Ash as they each took one.
"Thank you. So, this is a golf club, nice... By the way, Kahili, the Toucannon you have with you, you called him, 'Touckey', right?" Sarah quizzed the golfer woman, looking at Touckey while she examined the club she was given.
"Yep, this Toucannon is my loyal partner and best friend for life. As you already guessed, I like to call him 'Touckey', never once left my side throughout our time together," smiled Kahili, introducing everybody to her faithful Cannon Pokemon.
"Greetings," Touckey greeted simply (despite being fluent only to Sarah and Race).
"Hmm, nice name you gave him."
"Amazing! So, not only is Touckey your partner and best friend but he's also your little helper?"
"And, your assistant?"
"Touckey's like a caddy!" Ash, Mallow, Lana, and Sophocles remarked, impressed before they turned their attention to the golf clubs they were given.
"Interesting... The clubs are made from light but strong material, perfect for striking golf balls," Race deducted.
"Slick!"
"Never held one before!" Ash and Mallow gushed.
"It's surprisingly heavy yet somehow light."
"You're right," Lillie and Lana mused over their golf clubs while Kiawe practiced using the one he was given, trying to remember how Kahili was able to hit the baseball with her club and getting a feel of using it.
"How remarkably simple."
"We didn't have anything like this during our time," Doug and Delilah nodded with intrigue as they examined the club they were given.
"You have to be quite an expert with lots of practice to use one of these clubs to win a golf tournament."
"Yes, and it's not as easy as it looks," Nikki and James added.
"I see what you mean if she was able to use this to hit the baseball without having it hit her," Asha commented while she and her parents looked at their clubs.
Even the Pokemon and Sarah's Pokemon and dragons looked on curiously at the clubs the princess and her friends along with her human family were examining and they were looking impressed by what they saw.
Still gushing and fanboying at this stage, Sophocles chuckled nervously as he then approached Kahili and requested, " Hey, I know! Uh... Well, uh, he-he... Uh, Kahili...? In case you don't have anything special going on right now, and if you still have time... Well, it would be the coolest thing in the world for us if we can play a round of Pokemon Golf with you! What do you say?"
Ash, Tsukumaro, Doug, Delilah, Sarah, Race, and Asha looked over at Sophocles in surprise and confusion and echoed, "Pokemon Golf?"
Sophocles blinked before he looked at Sarah as he puzzled at her face with narrowed eyes despite also directing his comment towards her, Ash, her blood family, Asha, and Race, "Are you saying you never heard of Pokemon Golf?"
"Hello, 517-year-old girl and blood family with no knowledge of modern human society back then," she remarked.
"Don't forget me living much of my reincarnated life at Dragonstone," added Asha.
Sophocles smiled again as he said, "It's a kind of Golf where you play with Pokemon."
"It's the most popular sport in Alola right now," Kiawe added.
"Sounds awesome! Okay then, let's learn and play some Pokemon Golf!" Ash grinned, interested in learning the sport.
"Yeah, let's do it!" Pikachu agreed.
"I want to play, too!" Mallow concurred as Lillie and Lana nodded in agreement with the three of them also wanting to play with her.
Kahili became a little anxious over the offer; in truth, she still wasn't sure if she would want to play Pokemon Golf again given her current losing streak. The gang didn't know this as well as the fact that her supposed number of losses in her profession had made her lose confidence in herself as a golfer, and what's more, she only had Touckey to confide her worries with given that he witnessed her struggles and her anxiety firsthand. She was left in a slump as a result and she didn't know how to break the bad news to the kids and Kukui as well as the royal family.
"Uh, well... But, you see, I..." she stammered, knowingly a little reluctant to explain.
"Hold it! I'm sorry, Kahili, let us talk it over first before we play with you first. Basically, whether or not we play one round with you is up to you and Touckey alone, right?" Sarah replied, wanting Kahili and Touckey to decide for themselves first before she turned to her friends, much to their surprise. "Listen, you guys, it's not up to us if Kahili wants to play with us or not. Shouldn't we let her decide to play a round with us?"
"Hold on, Sarah's right, kids. It does us no good if you're putting Kahili on the spot like that," Kukui concurred.
"I agree; the elephant in the room is none other than Kahili herself and we want to know what she and her partner think about the offer," Race nodded knowingly as Touckey saw and heard everything and was inspired as he faced his partner.
"Kahili, let's do it! I think this would be best for you, you should play a round with them after what you've been through!" he urged Kahili, seeing what can help her now.
"Huh, Touckey?" Kahili blinked, turning to her partner in surprise.
"Go on, Kal! This is just what you need! Take time to unwind and practice with them! Especially with the princess, she'll be of great help to you!" the Toucannon continued to beg before he pushed her over to the group.
"H-Hey! Touckey," she yelped before Touckey went over to her bag and took out a club for her.
Sarah had to smile as she realized what he wanted for her as he gave her the club in his beak, "You know what, Kahili? I think Touckey's made up his mind for you, why not give it a shot for his sake, alright? It'll make him happy if you do."
"But, Touckey..." Kahili protested, knowing what the two of them are up against with her losing streak.
"Please, Kahili! Give yourself another chance! In fact, I want to play again, too!"
"Oh, so... You want to play with everybody, too?"
"Of course."
Kahili was still reluctant but after turning to Sarah as she gave her a soft nod and held her right hand out to Touckey, gesturing and wanting her to trust her partner and listen to him with her heart, she sighed and half-heartily relented, "Well, I guess I have no choice. Let's all play Pokemon Golf together."
"Excellent!" Kukui smiled at her.
"Alright, thank you so much!"
"This is gonna be so great!"
"I'm so happy!" Ash, Kiawe, and Sophocles cheered, eager to start.
Sarah then approached the pair and she warmly told them, "Thank you, Kahili, Touckey. I promise you won't be disappointed in playing with us and if you have any problems, just confide it with any of us, me and my family, especially."
Kahili was surprised and Touckey shared a thankful bow for their chance of a lifetime as Kukui announced, "Right. Okay, if that's the case, we'll shelve Sarah and her family's crash course on Pokemon Baseball, for now, for the afternoon resort activity for sports today will now be Pokemon Golf!"
"Alright!" Everybody cheered while Sarah and her family nodded in response.
Arriving at an afternoon resort, the group then changed into some proper golf attire for their training rounds and their golf round with Kahili, the golfer woman leading them to what is a perfect area for Pokemon Golf. The area was none other than a huge area full of vast green fields which would be perfect for them to begin learning the sport.
"So, this is a Pokemon Golf course?" Ash asked in awe.
"I guess so, especially since it's nothing like a mini-golf course."
"I've never seen a Pokemon Golf course before; it's so huge for what it is, I can barely see the whole in the distance," Sarah and Asha admitted.
"Now, this Pokemon Golf course we'll be using has something, from beginners to master golfers. It's perfect," Kukui acknowledged with a grin, satisfied with what he was seeing.
But, not everybody was in the swing of things as Tsukumaro pouted about the uniform he was wearing, blushing in humiliation as some of the Pokemon (some of whom are in golf uniforms as well but ones that are custom-made for Pokemon) including Absol, Bambi, and Togepi couldn't help but either laugh out loud or stifle giggle fits at him while he tugged at it gently. While the Pokemon laughed or giggled at him, he just glared at them and his goddaughter with a groan, given that it was her that wanted him to try out an outfit and who also roped her blood parents into wearing golf uniforms in place of their regular outfits.
Zorua and Sho were laughing the hardest as they pointed at Tsukumaro and rolled on their backs uncontrollably with Sarah noticing this as she said, "Come on, you two, cut it out! Cut him some slack. Tsukumaro, it's not going to bite you; this is a golf uniform, you have to wear something like this if you're going to play golf let alone Pokemon Golf."
"She's right, Tsukumaro, you look so dashing in a uniform so sporty."
"I wouldn't worry about the uniform if I were you since it fits you," Delilah and Doug chuckled.
"This stuff itches," Tsukumaro grumbled simply.
With the Pokemon and dragons, however, they were having fun already as Pikachu, Sandy, and Togedemaru were playing on the soft grass with Shadow and Winter resting as they basked in the sun alongside Aegis, Sunflare, Inferno, Veneon, Silver, and their families.
Primarina, Aqua, Snowy, Snowflake, Flygon, Draco, Hydreigon, and Vikavolt got together as they looked at a nearby Alolan Exeggutor.
"Hello down there!" the Alolan Coconut Pokemon called happily.
Tsareena watched over Shaymin and Sarah's Shiny Shaymin (whom the princess decided to rename Grace despite him being a male) as the Gratitude Pokemon siblings smelled the flowers over at a nearby garden despite not seeing any Gracedia Flowers amongst the floral patches.
Dracovish wandered about aimlessly and looked around in awe before he eventually noticed an Alolan Diglett, scaring it as it yelped at the Fossil Pokemon and dove back into its hole. The ancient Water/Dragon Type tilted his head curiously and he was about to innocently chomp the grass to see if he can follow the Alolan Mole Pokemon before Touckey noticed this and stopped him just in time as he came over.
"Ahem...?" he coughed, getting Dracovish's attention before Rotom-Dex floated over and noticed what he was about to do.
"Now, now, Dracovish, you mustn't damage the grass. We don't want your family to pay a hefty fine from the owners of the golf club just so you can follow that Alolan Diglett you scared off, okay?" the Living Pokedex lectured.
"...Hmm, okay," Dracovish cooed innocently as he waddled off while waving his tiny flippers.
"As you can see, Pokemon can live freely on Pokemon Golf Courses," Kahili smiled, seeing the wild Pokemon and the gang's partners as well as Sarah's family on the field.
This was proven as Aqua and Primarina looked at the water before Lana called out, "Let's go, Aqua, Primarina!", getting the Soloist Pokemon's attention and they joined her and the others while a Goldeen and Finneon jumped out.
Then, it was time for Kahili and Touckey to teach everybody how to play the sport as they all gathered at Golf Course Number 1 which was the first tee professional golf players start at during a golf tournament given it was perfect as a starting point for beginners to get the hang of learning the ropes of the sport.
"Now, this is the first tee and it's where we'll begin your training," the golfer woman introduced as Touckey handed her a golf club he knows she would need for the first tee. "Thanks, Touckey."
"Hold on, how exactly does Touckey know which club you're supposed to be using for each tee?" Rotom-Dex pondered curiously.
"It's probably because we've been playing and living together as a team and a family since I was a girl."
"Exactly, ever since she was a child, Kahili has been nothing but a sweet girl with a brilliantly competitive spirit. One of the best golfers, if not, THE best golfer I've ever had the pleasure to be with," Touckey confirmed as his trainer turned to the group.
"If you don't mind, I'll go first."
"Of course, please do," Kukui nodded.
"We don't mind, Kahili," smiled Sarah as her family nodded in agreement.
"Please, show us how it's done," Ash and the gang concurred.
Smiling, Kahili proceeded to go over the basics to help them get accustomed to how Pokemon Golf is played before she pointed everyone towards a golf hole in a spot called the "Green", "The rules of Pokemon Golf are simple; you hit the ball from here and the objective is to land your ball into that hole on the green. However, the most important rule of them all is for you to understand and achieve cooperation between the Pokemon and their trainers."
"Uh... Where is the Green?" Ash asked, looking around and not seeing the exact spot Kahili mentioned.
"The 'Green' she speaks of, Ash, is right over there," Kukui informed, pointing everybody towards the spot where a red flag is pitched inside a golf hole in the distance. "The hole over there is where the flag is."
"Wow...!"
"Huh, how about that?"
"Way over there?!"
"It's so far away!"
"It looks kinda hard..." Sarah, Race, Ash, Mallow, and Lillie blinked in surprise and bewilderment, seeing how difficult it could be given their being greenhorns at the sport.
"Kahili, if the hole is over there, how exactly are we supposed to win the game?" Asha pondered, a little unsure.
"It's simple, really, and all it takes is the cooperation between you and your Pokemon to hit the ball into it; if you want to win, you and your Pokemon will need to work together to get the ball in the whole with the fewest shots within the limit known as Pars. But, as I said, the most important thing to be aware of is the cooperation between trainers and Pokemon. You and your Pokemon will need to work as one to get your ball in via the fewest shots possible, the best one being a Hole-in-One which is not an easy thing to accomplish by itself unless you have some long, hard practice," Kahili explained to the older sister.
"Hold it right there!" barked an arrogant-sounding voice as the group turned to see who everyone in Alola calls the "Master Caddy" who was really an old man Ash and the others met prior to crossing paths with Sarah who lied to them about capturing and seeing a Totem Pokemon called a Totem Wishiwashi. "When you're talking about Pokemon Golf, missy, you're talking about me!"
"And, you are?" Kukui inquired to the Master Caddy as the old man approached him and bragged, "I'm the Master Pokemon Golf Caddy and I've been at this business for forty years which, by all accounts, makes me a legend!"
"Pokemon Golf caddy?" everybody puzzled, sweatdropping.
"Yawn..." sighed Race, unamused and unimpressed given that he, Sarha, and Asha never heard of such a person let alone seen the old man.
"Who's the old geezer who sounds more like an arrogant hotheaded conman rather than a golf caddy?" Asha quizzed her sister quietly.
"Nobody I know of. He doesn't even look like much," she whispered.
"As a caddy with fifty years of experience, I'd say it would be foolish of you to go through this course and more without me!"
"Hey, wait! You said you had forty years of experience!" Rotom-Dex barked.
"Pardon my skepticism but are you absolutely sure you had so many years of experience? Have you ever picked up a golf club or shot holes in this place or trained any humans and their Partner Pokemon in this peculiar sport?" Guardeon asked, glaring suspiciously at the Master Golf Caddy with narrowed eyes and his family doing the same as they suspected he was not what he seemed to be.
The Master Golf Caddy was silent for a moment as he sweatdropped before he eventually decided to ignore the pair that spoke to him as he bragged again, "With me on your team, every shot that you make will be nothing but pure gold!"
"Oh, come on!" Roton-Dex groaned in annoyance while Guardeon and his family sighed and facepalmed in exasperation with Sarah also pinching the bridge of her nose and sharing the latter group's exasperation.
"LET'S PLAY!"
And, so the Pokemon Golf training began with Kahili making the first shot as she swung her club and hit the ball with Touckey, via his sharp eye and strong bond with his trainer, using a Tailwind attack to give the ball more speed as the ball moved towards the flag where the whole is position. The Alolan Diglett from before saw the ball coming its way as it popped out and it yelped again before it took cover and the ball fell inside, making it come out and see it curiously.
"A perfect Hole-in-One for Kahili!" Kukui smiled as the golfer woman stared in surprise at her making what looked like her first Hole-in-One in a while.
"Whoa, it actually went in!" she blinked.
"I've never seen a Hole-in-One before!"
"Let alone one that was done so perfectly! She and Touckey looked like they were really working as one!" Mallow and Asha gaped in amazement.
"Thank you very much," Kahili smiled.
"Thank you, children," agreed a pleased Touckey.
"As a caddy with sixty years of experience," barked the Master Golf Caddy as he looked at the pair (particularly Touckey), confusing everybody and shocking a bewildered Rotom-Dex.
"Sixty years?! That's about ten more than before when you said you had forty years and then fifty years of experience!" he shrieked as the caddy continued to exaggerate.
"I was the first golfer ever to come up with the idea of using Tailwind on this golf course. But, of course, everybody has been copying my brilliant idea ever since."
"Excuse me?!" Touckey growled darkly, seething at the Master Golf Caddy's insult and wanting to give him a piece of his mind.
"Are you kidding me?!" a stunned Sho snapped angrily at the Master Golf Caddy.
"I doubt whatever you said rings true, 'Sir'. Especially since we've yet to see any solid proof," Arrietty snorted in disgust.
Seeing Touckey wanting to chomp on the caddy's head, Dracovish quickly stopped him before gesturing the older Cannon Pokemon to allow him to deal with it as he waddled over and playfully chomped down on his head as lightly as he could as punishment for arrogantly lying to the Flying Type's face, startling the old man and greatly surprising Touckey as he gaped at the Fossil Pokemon. Sarah saw this but given her own exasperation and annoyance at the Master Golf Caddy's lying and seeing how annoyed Touckey was getting after he got under his feathers, she let him get away with it.
Kukui chuckled sheepishly as he then said to everybody before things could get more heated or awkward than they already are, "So, uh, he-he... What do you say we all give it a shot them, everybody?"
"Right," the entire group barring the Master Golf Caddy nodded.
"'Kay, I'm up first!" Ash smiled as he started off first with Pikachu joining and he took his position at the ball. "Just hit the ball..."
"Don't lose or break the club or you'll end up buying it, Ash Ketchum," remarked Race before Touckey then pushed Kahili towards Ash and Pikachu.
"Go on, Kal," he encouraged his partner.
"Now, what, Touckey?" Kahili asked, startled as he gestured to Ash and his partner.
"Go and help them, give them some advice. And, remember, have fun with it..."
"I see, why not give Ash some help before he fumbles on the first go? That's what you want her to do, right, Touckey?" Race chuckled as he told Kahili then looked at Touckey who gave him an affirming and thankful nod for his translation.
"Really, you want me to give him some advice?" Kahili echoed in surprise, her partner happily nodding and getting Ash excited as he accepted the offer.
"Some advice? Yeah, sure, that'll be great!"
Kahili smiled as she nodded and joined Ash, proceeding to give him a few pointers on how to hit the ball before she demonstrated to him, "Oh, alright... When you take a swing of your club, to make a full one, try using your entire body, kind of like this."
"Entire body... Like this?" Ash replied, mimicking her moves perfectly.
"You got it!"
"Let me try it, for real!"
Using what he had learned from the golfer woman, Ash managed to successfully hit the ball with a full swing from his entire body. To his horror, however, he realized that he had sent the ball flying too high into the air rather than toward the cup before Pikachu, seeing what was happening, rushed forward and together, remembering the need for total cooperation between trainer and Pokemon, they managed to hit the ball with Iron Tail and send it hurtling towards the Green.
"Alright, Pikachu!"
"That's how it's done!" cheered the pair in relief and elation.
"Very good, Ash! You've put faith in your partner and hit the ball toward the green and the hole by working together! That's the essence, the secret, of Pokemon Golf and what it's all about!" Kahili praised with a smile.
"Good show, boys! Good show!" grinned Touckey in agreement.
Then, at the second tee, it was Mallow's turn to have a go but she wasn't sure of what to do for this course.
"Uh, Kahili...? Would it be alright if I ask you for some advice, too, please?" she asked, looking a little lost.
"Sure, let's see... Stand with your legs, both of them, shoulder-width apart when you take your position."
"Right," the Grass Type student nodded as she followed Kahili's moves.
"Perfect, just like that! And, then, when you take your shot, swing like you're drawing a circle."
With the advice she needed, Mallow then hit her ball but it rolled away from the hole as it reached it until Shaymin popped out of some nearby bushes she was playing in for she felt the ball rolling but thought there was a Diglett or another Pokemon around.
"Huh, who's there? Hello? Hmm?" cooed the female Gratitude Pokemon before she noticed the ball and nudged it forward, getting it into the hole before she blinked in surprise and then cheered happily, realizing what she did. "Oh! Hmm, I hit the ball? I hit the ball!"
"Shaymin?" Mallow quipped in surprise, seeing her second partner save her shot as the Pokemon and dragons cheered for her.
"YAY, SISSY!" Seth roared excitedly, cheering the loudest for his little sister.
"Well, pluck my tail razor, Shaymin saved Mallow's hot at the last minute!"
"So, that's where the little dear's at!"
"Way to go, Shaymin! WHOO!" Skylar and her parents cheered loudly, the blind Razorwhip hearing the Grass Type's happy cheers.
"Huh, you sneaky little hedgehog," smirked Silvally, impressed.
"I was wondering where Shaymin went but I didn't know she was there!" quipped Lillie, smiling in surprise.
"That was a nice shot! Of course, that's what makes Pokemon Golf so much fun compared to regular golf and even mini-golf, you never know what could happen when you add Pokemon to the mix!" chuckled Kahili.
"As a master caddy of seventy years, I've seen these kinds of miracles many times! If I won a prize every time a Shaymin hits a ball-AHH!"
"Shut up, Old Maid!" Dracovish barked as he chomped on the caddy's head.
The exaggerated statement soon started to catch Star's attention as she glared suspiciously at the caddy and felt his Aura, wondering if the old man was really telling the truth about his years of experience as a Master Golf Caddy and even Colbalt couldn't help but share her sentiments as he gave a searing glare at him.
Then, Kiawe stepped up to take on the third hole as he prepared to do an Inferno Overdrive-inspired swing and he chanted away while making the shot but he retreated at the last minute because he wanted to have his family's Alolan Marowak (who had rejoined his family's son to take part in school activities and spend more time with him) hit the ball instead. Marowak used Shadow Bone as intended as he hit the ball but unfortunately for the pair, much to their, Turtonator, and Pyroar's shock and horror, it disappeared into the sky.
"Uh, Kiawe, you and your family's Marowak were too fired up as you took the shot."
"Looks like you owe the resort a golf ball now that you lost that one with that foul," Sarah and Race frowned, realizing what Kiawe and Marowak had done.
"...Well, Kiawe, I hope you got your wallet out and ready to pay 'cause you and Marowak are both gonna have to explain what happened should it come back down and shatter the window of a nearby or faraway building as well," Asha added sheepishly while rubbing the back of her head as Kiawe and the Alolan Bone Keeper Pokemon grimaced and slumped down in disappointment and shame.
Kahili sheepishly smiled as she reassured the pair and demonstrated her next moves for them, "Don't worry! That was an excellent shot but maybe next time, try not to add too much fire and do it with a lot less. Let's do it like this, okay?"
While Touckey and Dracovish along with Star and Colbalt kept an eye on the caddy when he nodded at the trio, the pair tried again but with Kahili's advice this time as the Fire Type student encouraged the Ghost/Fire Pokemon, "Okay! Now, let's try it one more time, Marowak!"
"You got this, Marowak! Less fire this time!"
"Don't give in to your impulse, m'lad! Concentrate!" Turtonator and Pyroar cheered.
Taking Kahili's advice into account and with the support of Pyroar and Turtonator as well as Kiawe by his side, Marowak managed to hit the replacement ball, and this time, after controlling his swing and power, he finally managed to get the ball on the green and into the hole without losing it as he did with the first ball.
"On the green, nice!" cheered Kahili, liking Marowak and Kiawe's second attempt.
"YEEEEESSSS!"
"WE DID IT!" the pair cheered ecstatically, happily crying as they, Pyroar, and Turtonator came together for a group hug as they celebrated their successful Hole-in-One on the second go.
Then, Tsukumaro stepped up to the plate after them with Bambi stepping forward to join him. The Deerling in question happily wanted to try the sport with him so the group ended up at a course that had three small islands in the middle of a small river with a hole set on the third island (the layout of the course being akin to a river in a forested area which was to her liking).
Kahili also gave some pointers to the old advisor as she saw him looking nervous while preparing to take the shot which was for him to calm himself, take a swing while ignoring everything else around him, and let Bambi help him along the way by putting his trust in her. Nodding gratefully to the golfer woman and with everybody watching him as he took her advice into account, Tsukuamto took a deep breath to calm his nerves, blocked out everything and everybody else around him, and then hit the ball when he was ready.
He soon put his faith and trust in Bambi as he watched the happy-go-lucky Deerling use Double Team to bounce the ball all the way to the hole without dropping it and without letting it touch the water.
"I did it! We won, a Hole-in-One!" she cheered, bouncing up and down excitedly.
"Stellar effort, Bambi!" cried Tsukumaro, wiping his brow in relief as he smiled at her.
Doug and Delilah then had a turn on another course away from the main tees as they brought out Blossom and Zorro to join in on the fun. Their own course consisted of a set of multiple Diglett holes as the challenge of this tee for them was a game of careful decision-making and reaction time as the hole they are aiming for is amongst the myriad of Diglett whole and sending the ball down one of the wrong holes would spell game over for them.
Taking the shot together, the king and queen hit the ball with a combined force that landed it in the middle of the Diglett hole field, seeing their chance for their chosen Pokemon to give them a hand as it rolled along and was about to reach the hole in front of it.
"Blossom/Zorro, use Frenzy Plant!" they called, allowing the Forest Pokemon and the Shiny Regal Pokemon to use their attack to stop the ball in time and guide it around the Diglett holes as best they could with quick reflexes and reaction time before they found the hole they were looking for and dropped it in.
"And, into the green and the right hole it goes! Well done, Your Majesties!"
"A wonderful display of Frenzy Plant and trust between you and your Serperior and Sceptile!" praised Kahili and Touckey proudly as everybody cheered for the royal couple.
"See? Playing Pokemon Golf is so much fun!" Kahili then added as Touckey gave a happy nod.
Tee 4 came along and this time, Lillie was up next as her course featured an Alolan Exeggutor, the challenge for her being that she was to hit the ball and get it to the whole *WITHOUT* hitting the Alolan Coconut Pokemon by mistake. But, of course, seeing how difficult it is for her when she stepped up to take the shot, she was already letting her nerves get the better of her again.
"I hope I can hit it well," she fretted, already feeling nervous.
"Just relax! You got this, Lillie!"
"Yeah! Just try to stay calm and you'll do fine!" Mallow and Lana reassured, seeing how antsy their best friend was already becoming.
"Right, I'll try!"
Steeling herself and taking a deep breath, Lillie turned to the course that now showed three Alolan Exeggutor instead of one which made it harder for the Ice Type student as she realized she got her work cut out for her and knew she would have to be extremely careful not to hit them.
"*Please don't let my ball hit any of the Exeggutor,*" she prayed, gulping before she shut her eyes and took a swing with everybody awkwardly looking on before Sarah came over and gently tapped her on her shoulder.
Lillie opened her eyes and looked at Sarah in surprise before the little princess sheepishly smiled and pointed to her ball, seeing that it was still where it was; the poor Ice Type student had unfortunately missed because she shut her eyes as she took the swing. This left Lillie feeling embarrassed as she readied her club again for another try.
"Oh, no! Okay, I got it... Just one more time!" she said as she went at it again but closed her eyes for a second time and repeated the same mistake she made. "And, once more!"
"Uh, Lillie, I think we should-AHH!" Sarah yelped, ducking as Lillie swung a third time and she spun around like a top given her third swing was too hard as her nerves got the better of her again, prompting Kahili to smile knowingly and sympathetically as she came over while Sarah patted her best friend's back. "Lillie, perhaps we should let Kahili help you with that, okay?"
"Thanks, Sarah, I'll take over. You're all so tense from being so nervous to make the shot for fear of the Exeggutor being hurt, Lillie. Now, let's take a deep breath together," Kahili put in as Sarah rejoined the others and she and Lillie stood together before they took a deep breath to help calm her nerves.
Then, they looked down to see Snowy coming over and nuzzling her human mother, "Mama?"
"Snowy..." Lillie breathed as she knelt down and petted her Alolan Vulpix who smiled at her.
"See? That's the Mama I wanna see! You're happy again, YAY!"
"Oh, Snowy, you're so sweet. Thank you," Lillie smiled warmly with a thankful nod, getting back up again and no longer feeling nervous as she took her position or a fourth attempt, knowing that she has Snowy by her side along with the support of her friends as always.
"You can do it, Lillie!"
"Yeah, just stay focused!"
"And, don't let your nerves take hold of you! You have us by your side as well as Snowy, you're not alone in doing this!" Mallow, Lana, and Asha encouraged.
Then, preventing herself from closing her eyes via her nerves, taking aim at it, and making the swing, Lillie managed to hit the ball and have it go a short distance as it barely passed the Alolan Exeggutor as its tail head looked at the ball. It wasn't a Hole-in-One but the knowledge that she was able to hit it without getting nervous again and with the support of all her friends and Snowy was satisfying a reward for her.
"I did it! I finally hit it!"
"Nice shot, Lillie!" Mallow cheered.
"Great work, Lillie! That hit was a perfect first step for you!" Sarah nodded proudly, giving her best friend a thumbs up as Snowflake cheered for her fellow Vulpix.
"That was great! Don't forget how you felt just now after taking that deep breath and knowing you have friends all around you who can help," Kahili agreed proudly.
"As a Master Golf Caddy with eighty years of experience, relaxing through deep breathing is something I insist on every day of the year-DAH!"
"BUTT OUT!" a now-irritated Dracovish roared, biting his head and making him yelp and flail in pain again.
"That hurt!"
"Shut your mouth and stay out of this, you old hag!" Tyson barked at the Master Golf Caddy.
"Oh my god, you're an outright liar saying that! Nobody can be a golf caddy for that long! Why do you lie and butt in like that?!" groaned an aggravated Sarah as she held her head and seethed at the Master Golf Caddy.
"Can somebody get rid of that guy, please, for crying out loud?!" agreed Sarah's Altaria incredulously.
Sophocles stepped up for Tee 5 but the overall angle of the course was a little steeper compared to the previous courses with it moving in at about 45 degrees given the position of the grass as Kahili told him, "The green here isn't flat compared to the last ones. This one takes brain power and perfect judgment; you have to study and slope and direction of the grass first before you take the shot."
"Hmm... Calculations, let's see," Sophocles pondered as he took out his portable keyboard and began making the calculations required for him to shoot the ball. "Okay, the angle of the right slope measures about 1.9 degrees. Therefore..."
Unfortunately, this was taking him too long to hit the ball to the hole as Togedemaru tapped him and called, "Sophy! Sophocles!"
"Sorry, Togedemaru, I'm a little busy right now."
"...Okay, then," she replied simply with a smile before she curled herself up and simply rolled with the golf ball, shocking her partner as he stared at her.
"Wha-?!" he balked.
"What's Togedemaru doing?!" Mallow cried in shock.
"She must have something in mind if she made off with the ball like that," Tou-Tou replied, tilting his head curiously at the Roly Poly Pokemon.
"I see... Sophocles was taking too long for her liking so she decided to take matters into her own hands for him," chuckled Sarah, smiling as she and everybody else watched Togedemaru rolling with the golf ball before she noticed a Spinarak and avoided it with ease, amazing everybody with her incredible control over the course and the ball.
"Wow, look at her go!"
"She's racing like the wind and she's got more control over the course than any normal golfer can have!"
"She's awesome!"
"Fascinating! By the looks of it, Young Togedemaru will have a 95.7% chance of passing the course if she can get the ball to the hole!"
"Huh, what do you know? That little spike head's got a useful brain, after all," Bella, Skiddo, Phanpy, Nitro, and Eternatus remarked.
Then, three Alolan Diglett tried to block her but with a loud, "SCRAM, YOU MANGY ROAD HOGS!", she scared them off and reached the hole as she rolled the ball into it.
"Ta-Da~! Here you go, Partner! He-he-he!" she cheered to Sophocles.
"Togemaru did it!"
"Nice one!"
"What a great putt there!"
"Amazing work, Togedemaru!" Fennekin, Kukui, Kahili, and Sophocles praised in amazement.
"Good job, Togedemaru! That's one up the golf green for Mr. 'I'm The Master Golf Caddy'!" smirked Brawleon, giving a sneer at the Master Golf Caddy. "Got any snarky comments and anything else you wanna lie about this time, old man?"
"As a master caddy for ninety years, I would have shown you a much easier throughline, if you had asked-GAH!" the Master Golf Caddy quipped, annoying everybody yet again and this time, prompting Touckey to bite him.
"SILENCE, YOU!"
"OH, FOR THE LOVE OF OKOYA JUNGLE, SHUT UP!" the baby and younger Jungle Pokemon snapped in agreement as they all rounded up at the caddy, startling him as he let out a frightened yelp at their angry faces.
Tee 6 and Lana and Sarah decided to take it on together with Aqua and Primarina but the two of them also nodded at each other, deciding to add a bit of fun to their game before turning to their Soloist Pokemon.
"Okay, Aqua, time to blow up some balloon bubbles!"
"You too, Primarina!" they called, allowing their Water/Fairy Pokemon to create beautiful bubbles and start singing being the performers they were, prompting the other Pokemon and the dragons to join in.
The wild Pokemon around the courses also joined in on the fun but Eternatus groaned and he floated off, quietly grumbling as he wanted to get away from the singing and dancing he saw before him. Everybody laughed at the scene before them as they were seeing how much fun they were having.
"I can't believe it!"
"Look at them all."
"Oh, the cute little darlings!"
"I've never seen so many of them having fun," laughed Asha, Race, Delilah, and Doug.
"They're all singing so beautifully, very well akin to a nice, cozy Rest that comes from a group lullaby," smiled Kukui.
Touckey was surprised but he was also intrigued to see and hear the Pokemon and the dragons all singing and dancing together as he began to tap his right clawfoot to the music. He soon started to smile a little but he was even more surprised when he felt a small but sharp tug as he turned to Blitz who smiled warmly at the Cannon Pokemon.
"Uh, can I...?" he began a little awkwardly, unsure of what the male Alolan Pikachu wanted.
"Come on in, Touckey! It's not as hard as it looks, join in and sing! It's fun! Take a load off! Have fun, sing! Dance! Let it go!" he encouraged as he gently pulled Touckey over and the latter soon found himself having the time of his life as he sang in key and danced his cares away with his fellow Pokemon and the dragons.
"Hey, Touckey?" Kahili asked in surprise as she saw her partner happily singing and dancing with his new friends and the wild Pokemon, something she hadn't seen for some time since her losing streak began.
"Look at that, Touckey does have a more jovial side, after all!"
"I've never seen him having so much fun since we met you," Mallow and Lillie giggled happily.
Kahili didn't know what to think as she commented, "Wow, I haven't seen him like that in such a long time..."
"Pokemon, after spending so much time with their human trainers, are best known to reflect their emotions. If you ask me, Touckey's slowly reflecting on your current emotions without you realizing it," smiled Sarah as she approached Kahili with Kukui alongside her.
"I'm sure seeing you be so happy after so long must've made Touckey very happy, too," Kukui acknowledged.
Kahili was touched as she continued watching Touckey being happy for the first time in a while as she thought to herself, "Wow, I wonder if Touckey wanted me to play Pokemon Golf with everyone because he knew I was sad and needed cheering up..."
"Golf Balloons, away~!" Aqua and Primarina sang as they made several colorful balloons, two of which had their partners' balls in them as Sarah and Lana prepared to take the hit.
"Here's our finish: a Double Pole-And-Line Finishing Smash!" Lana grinned as she and Sarah hit the balls with their clubs as they flew up and the bubbles popped, eventually came to the hole but just stopped a mere inch from it.
While it wasn't a Hole-in-One for them as well, the fact they got so close to it was impressive enough for everybody.
"Ooh, so close yet so far!"
"Should've been a good one but that's quite the distance!"
"Very nice, girls!"
"Now, those are nice shots with a bit of a musical twist!" Dusk, Luna, Misa, and Kahili praised, impressed with what they saw.
Tee 7 saw Race taking a shot this time with Robbie alongside him, the two of them seeing that their course had some wild Shiinotic lazying about which presented them with the challenge of somehow sneaking their ball over to the hole without waking them up and alerting them to its presence.
"Robbie, your turn. Secret Power Time," he informed his Mimikyu, the male Disguise Pokemon nodding as he used Secret Power which turned into Grass Whistle given their current terrain, allowing him to put the Shiinotic to sleep and giving his partner a chance to hit the ball and get a perfect Hole-in-One.
"Booyah!" Robbie grinned with a cheer, pumping his shadow arm in victory.
"Excellent lullaby with Grass Whistle, Robbie," smiled Race to his Ghost Type.
Ziracon and Asha proved themselves to be quite adept in Pokemon Golf after taking everything they saw and learned from Kahili with the others and making their own Hole-in-One on Tee 8 using the male Ataria's fluffy fluff to push the ball towards the hole. And, taking another shot as he had his own ball in the air, Kiawe and Marowak (who had followed suit for an attempt) swung it over a group of Alolan Exeggutor before it reached the hole as well.
Lana went again with Primarina and Sandy this time for a team shot as the pair used Surf and Tackle in a combo move to shift the ball and get finally a Hole-in-One for herself. And, as for Lillie on Tee 9, finally relaxed and having fun without having her nerves get in the way, she and Snowy were able to use Powder Snow to create an icy slope to move their ball close to the hole without needing to try too hard (which was already a remarkably fast improvement over her previous attempt at Tee 4).
"Quite an impressive approach!" smiled Kahili to Lillie.
"Thanks, Kahili!" Lillie thanked, smiling back.
During that time, Touckey and Dracovish took it in turns to bite the Master Golf Caddy's head to prevent him from making more lies and snarky comments that would've ruined the moments everybody was savoring as they made their shots and Hole-in-Ones (both of them fully irritated by now with his arrogance and how cocky he was with his words). All the while, Star and Cobalt continued to keep an eye on him as they and the others let it slide since by now, they can't stand hearing him snark out of left field and add any more to his tall tales.
"You folks aren't bad, at all... Not bad, at all. Impressive, I'd say," the Master Golf Caddy finally spoke up again as he chuckled. "I'd have to say, after everything I've seen out of you, I suppose you're all quite worthy of a challenge that is the secluded Tenth Hole of Doom."
"Huh?" the gang puzzled cluelessly.
"Tenth Hole of Doom?"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Sarah and Asha asked, raising suspicious eyebrows at the caddy before everybody found themselves at some cliffs along the golf resort that had a strong windy breeze blowing about which had a river down below leading to the ocean.
"I guess the guys at the resort either forgot or neglected to clue us in about the last hole being this close to the sea!" Race shouted as the ocean wind blew hard and fast at the heroes.
"It's so windy out here!" Lillie fretted.
"Sure is! Where is the green, anyway?!" Ash bellowed to the caddy as the wind blew at a deafening rate.
"It's up there on that island!" the caddy replied, pointing everybody to a small island in the middle of a high area on the cliffs.
"No way!" the gang and Ash gawked in shock.
"You've got to be kidding," Asha remarked in annoyance as she facepalmed at the caddy.
"I've heard of high shots as we've seen before with the others when we first started out but this is a thousand levels of stupid rolled into one!" Race grumbled.
"Mr. Caddy, have you lost all sense of humanity in you?! How can you possibly expect the princess and her friends as well as her sister and betrothed along with Ms. Kahili to take such a dangerous shot? This is absolutely preposterous!" Tsukumaro raged at the Master Golf Caddy, incensed with what he had planned for the heroes and Kahili.
The Master Golf Caddy huffed as he said to everybody through the wind, "When I say the 'Tenth Hole of Doom', I mean it! It's the most challenging hole of the entire course where any balls that don't make it up there to the cup eventually drop to the bottom of the valley!"
"How are we supposed to make par on a hole like this?!" Sophocles balked.
"You better have a good reason for bringing us here let alone have something in mind to show us how it's done, you old weasel!" Glastier snorted in anger and disgust at the caddy who just laughed.
"As a master caddy for ninety-nine years and three months, it's finally time to show you the full extent of my true power!"
"SHUT UP AND BUTT OUT!" Umbreon's daughters raged in his face, making him yelp in shock and fright before he pushed them off and ignored them as he made his move.
"You seriously couldn't be bothered to give us proof when it's clear that almost nobody has ever made it up to or over 100 years of age and lived to tell the tale?!" grumbled an annoyed Tai Lung, the Master Golf Caddy hearing him with a sweatdrop before he ignored him as well.
"Actually, before I even became a master golf caddy, in my prime, I used to be a legendary Master Pokemon Golfer! Once I get my claws around this tee shot... Now, out you come!" the Master Golf Caddy shouted, bringing out a Pokeball and sending out a Krabby.
"Uh..." Ash and the gang sweatdropped.
"A Krabby, that's who your partner is? I know some small Pokemon pack a big punch if they're given the right training, living conditions, and all the love they can get from a trainer but this is seriously out of left field still," Sarah groaned, facepalming herself at the audacity the caddy is presenting.
"Your claws, did you by any chance mean that Krabby's claws?" deadpanned Rotom-Dex before he was ignored.
"Left arm straight!" the caddy shouted to his partner, Krabby using its left claw to take the caddy's hand and he was swooped up, striking the ball up into the air as it headed for the whole with everybody gasping at the sight until the wind blew it away.
"Aww...!" the gang trailed off.
"I guess you and your ball fell a bit short," Rotom-Dex remarked.
"LAME-O!" Scorch, Wooloo, Ponyta, and Yamper jeered, throwing the caddy and his Krabby unimpressed raspberries with the latter hearing their jeers and decided to ignore the crushing blow to his exaggerated pride.
"Of course! Even with all of my ninety-nine years and six months as a master caddy-HEY!"
"Okay, I think we've heard just about enough out of you, Mr. 'All-Talk-and-No-Actual-Action'!"
"Yeah, I think it's time we put you to bed and give you a binky and a bottle!" sighed an annoyed Danny and Danielle as they threw him and Krabby back and he yelped in surprise before he crash-landed behind the group but not before he shouted, "ONE MISTAKE CAN RUIN EVERYTHING...!"
Sarah blinked in bewilderment before she turned to her two Meowstic, "Was that really necessary?"
"Don't sweat it, Mom."
"You gotta admit, he was asking for it," they replied indifferently to their mother.
"Either way, that must be the only useful thing he has ever told us out of all the lies he rambled about," Virizion nodded as she approached Kahili and told the golfer woman, "Since you know more about Pokemon Golf from a professional standpoint, Ms. Kahili, why don't you show us how it's done?"
Kahili blinked before she decided to think for a moment as Rotom-Dex worriedly stated, "But, how can she do that? The chances, the likeliness, the possibility of Kahili scoring a Hole-in-One hitting the ball into the cup are exactly 0.00001%-AYIE!"
"Don't bother the girl stressing the statistics!" Silvally snapped with a frown as he whacked him away from Kahili with his head scales.
The golfer woman was a little apprehensive as she recalled her losing streak and what she had been doing thanks to Touckey encouraging her to play with everyone but Virizion, seeing how scared she felt about messing up and losing again in her mind, gave her a reassuring nudge and smile as she told her, "Fear, Kahili, is your greatest enemy and the most important thing here is to not only control that fear but also learn that it doesn't matter whether you win or lose as long as you have fun and know how you play the game. You must conquer the fear that lives inside of your heart."
Terrakion, Keldo, and Cobalion looked at each other and nodded knowingly as they joined Virizion and Kahili and proceeded to share with her the same lessons the three older Swords of Justice first taught to their former pupil in addition to what the Grassland Pokemon told her.
"Listen closely, Kahili. We understand that you don't like to lose but as Virizion said before, the most important in Pokemon Golf is to learn how to have fun with it and know that you and Touckey are doing the best that you can. Also, never take your eyes off of the ball and the hole the moment you swing your club. Keep your focus up until the very end when the ball enters the hole and you win a Hole-on-One," Terrakion then added.
"You mentioned that Pokemon Golf has to be fun and in the sport, it's important to take note of the cooperation between trainers and their Pokemon, right? Put all of your trust and faith in Touckey and let him help you when the time comes after you swing your club and hit the ball towards the hole," Keldeo taught, giving the golfer woman and Touckey a warm and knowing smile.
Cobalion nodded in agreement as he then told the pair, after seeing through their eyes and knowing of the woman's losing streak, "It is what you learned from defeat in anything including Pokemon Golf that is truly important. You now know where you are falling on your head over and how you feel back then and now throughout our whole endeavor playing with you, what are you going to do?"
Kahili thought over the words and lessons the Swords of Justice were giving her until she eventually steeled herself and confirmed, "...I accept!"
The group was shocked and concerned for Kahili as Ash and Lillie begged, "But, Kahili...!"
"I'll be fine, I now know where I'm going wrong here thanks to you all and Touckey. As long as I have the support of you all, both my new friends and my partner, I know I can't fail this time! Right, Touckey?"
"Of course, Kal. I know you won't, never again," Touckey nodded in agreement, sharing Kahili's sentiments and nodding in gratitude to the Swords of Justice for the lessons they had given them as they took their place.
Recovering from Danny and Danielle's throwing him, the caddy laughed heartily as he cried, "That's it, champ! Go for br-AHH!"
But, he was then muffled by an apple from the golf resort cafe that was shoved in his mouth as he was snapped at by an annoyed Goodra glaring at him (while the Dragon Type also spooked his Krabby as it hid in his back and shivered), "Cork it, Joker!"
Touckey looked over the clubs to see which one Kahili would use before he picked out one from her bag that resembled his beak coloration and handed it to his partner.
"Thank you, Touckey," she thanked after readjusting her hat and positioning her feet one last time as she readied herself, keeping everything the Swords of Justice taught her in her mind.
"You can do it, Kahili!"
"Just stay relaxed!"
"And have a fun time, too!"
"You're gonna be great!"
"Keep your eye on the ball!"
"And, become the shot!" Ash and the gang cheered.
"We're with you, Kahili, stay focused!"
"Keep calm, Kahili, dear! That's the first thing for you to do!"
"And, trust and have faith in Master Touckey! Don't worry about winning or losing!"
"Remember to work together as you hit the ball and don't let your nerves get the better of you!"
"Take the shot and allow Touckey to do the rest! And, have fun while you're at it!"
"Good luck, Kahili, and may the power protect you guys once you make the shot!" Sarah, her family, Asha, and Race called encouragingly.
"Thank you, everyone!" Kahili smiled thankfully before she got her game face on and readied herself with Touckey also taking his position. "Here we go! This drive belongs to Touckey and me, long and straight! GO!"
Landing a long drive as she swung her club, Kahili managed to hit the ball straight up to give themselves a fighting chance against the ocean breeze. Touckey then used Tailwind to blow the ball up fast only for the wind to blow the ball back down, however...
"Touckey!" Kahili called, seeing their chance as her partner nodded and she held him like he was a huge blaster.
"Goodness me!" Tsukumaro balked in surprise as everybody else gasped, seeing Touckey's beak glowing and heating up as the ball came back down.
"...Beak Blast, let's go!" the golfer woman signaled, allowing her partner to finally fire his species' signature attack and push the ball back up, fighting through the breeze as it reached the island and landed in the hole, scoring a Hole-in-One for Kahili for the first time ever since her losing streak began.
There was silence but then, after a moment...
Everybody cheered loudly for a surprised and overwhelmingly amazed Kahili as the gang then shouted in great elation, "HOLE-IN-ONE!"
"Bust!"
"Psyche!"
"Fantastic work, Ms. Kahili!"
"What an impressive display of teamwork, confidence, and focus by you and your darling Toucannon!"
"Congratulations, Madame Kahili, Master Touckey!"
"You and Touckey did it, Kahili!" Sarah, Race, Asha, and her family congratulated, all of them and their Pokemon and the dragons clapping, warbling, roaring, stomping, and cheering happily for her and Touckey.
"Way to go, Golfer Queen!"
"You too, Mr. Touckey, Sir!"
"You two were amazing!"
"You did us all and Alola proud with that one!"
"Y-You're both g-g-g-gonna n-n-nail it at y-your next game!"
"I guess whatever's got you both down in the dumps earlier today is finally gone, gone, gone!" Blitz, Curly, Bella, Robbie, Ziracon, and Proud praised the pair as well.
"We did it... We did it, we really did it! Touckey! We've done it! We finally got our first Hole-in-One in a while! This is so wonderful!" Kahili smiled at her partner.
"We've done it, Kal! We're ready for the big leagues once again!" Touckey replied ecstatically before he turned to the little princess as everybody else cheered for them.
"Princess, I don't know how we can thank you all enough! This is the best thing that's happened to us in years! It has been some time since we've gotten so good and if it weren't for you and our chance of a lifetime to play with you and your friends and family, I... I don't know what we'd do if you haven't been here to help!"
"I'm just glad you got your game faces back on, you're ready for the Pokemon Golf ring again!" laughed Sarah happily, feeling grateful for Touckey and Kahili as well.
Nodding in approval, the caddy took his leave as he bragged, "So as a master caddy for ninety-nine years and nine months, there's nothing left for me to teach at this secluded hole. But, mark my words, I'll be waiting for you at the Eleventh Hole of Doo-AHH!"
"Oh, my Arceus! THAT'S IT! Even I know that was a flat-out lie right there, you're a liar! Why do you keep lying like that, old man?!" Star grumbled in exasperation as she heard the caddy and grabbed him before he could leave.
"I wouldn't lie about everything I do, at all! I've had so many years of experience, you can't deny that you'd be lost in doing something with-!" barked the caddy incredulously before he was immediately cut off.
"You literally said, 'I'm the Master Pokemon Golf Caddy and I've been at this business for forty years which, by all accounts, makes me a legend!' as you came in! And, what's worse, you've been adding more and more years into your so-called 'experience' without giving us any proof that adds credit to your statements! No certificates, no awards, no trophies, no documents of your glory, nothing that suggests that you're a 'legend' in Pokemon Golf!"
"Wait, wait! No, no, no, no, no! I didn't say that! I said what I wanted to say and everything I said is the truth! I was a legend and still am but forty years is a flat-out lie when I meant to say ninety-nine years and three months!"
"Mm-hmm, you did, right in our faces. You did, every time something happens, no question. I wouldn't lie given what your Aura's like and what you've been doing."
"Where's your source?"
"YOU, YOU LUMBERING TAUROS!" Star spat finally, having lost her patience as she pointed an angry claw as the rest of her aggravated family also rounded up on the lying caddy.
"YOU'RE FULL OF CRAP, OLD MAN! THEN, HOW ABOUT YOU EXPLAIN TO US WHY AND HOW MAMA AND HER FRIENDS EARNED THE CORAL HARBOR MEDAL OF VALOR? YOU DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER? ALRIGHT, WE'LL TELL YOU; THEY EARNED IT AFTER THEY HELPED THE POWER RANGERS BEAT A BAD GUY VIRUS AND HER CRAZY YOU-KNOW-HOW AFTER THEY AND THEIR GOONIES KIDNAPPED HER LAST YEAR AND THREATENED TO STEAL A GIANT ROBOT THAT NOW BELONGED TO HER?!" roared Altaria in fury, shocking the caddy as he balked at the princess.
"WHAT?! SHE DID, THEY DID?"
"YES, YOU IDIOT!" the younger and baby Jungle Pokemon snapped finally.
"Wait, you mean to tell us that everything you said was nothing but a lie and you're nothing but an old blithering conman who's telling nothing but stupid stories just for fame and glory without even showing my pipsqueak and her bumbling friends proof?!" Eternatus remarked in shock and anger at the caddy.
"Hold on a second, you really have not been trying to prove your statements by playing with our family and friends this whole time ever since you came in-bzt?" added Manteon with angry eyes.
"Of all the nerve!"
"I can't believe we actually had you joining us of your own accord ever since we came here and started our lessons with Kahili!"
"You really haven't been trying to back your statements up, haven't you?!"
"And, you just rolled with the punches until this whole when you actually tried that time?!" Helioseon, Freezeon, Thundereon, and Seleneon barked furiously.
The caddy then grew flustered as he frantically tried to save himself as he held his hands in front and shook them at the furious Pokemon and dragons as Eternatus drew closer to him, "NO! No, wait! I'm sorry, I can show you everything that I did just to prove-!"
"NO! YOU WASTED OUR TIME BEING NOTHING BUT USELESS AND INSULTING UNTIL THE DAMN ELEVENTH HOUR! AND, SPEAKING OF WHICH, THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS AN ELEVENTH HOLE OF DOOM YOU AND THAT PINT-SIZED CRUSTATEAN ARE ON, YOUR, OWN!" Eterantus roared as he rammed the caddy and his Krabby and golf bag with a hard and fast tackle and knocked them into the sky, the caddy screaming as he eventually twinkled out.
The entire royal family of Pokemon and dragons finally breathed a sigh of relief but they still felt angry at the caddy and his lies as they soon turned to Sarah, her human family, Blitz, Curly, Race, Robbie, Bella, Asha, Proud, Ziracon, Ash, the gang, their Pokemon, Kukui, Touckey, and Kahili as they paled at what they just saw.
"Anybody got a problem with that or should we play some more before that creep comes back?" Eternatus questioned bluntly, getting no answer from the group as they shook their heads.
A few days later, after much more practicing and playing once everybody had calmed down before they had to say goodbye to Kahili and Touckey, Sarah, her friends, and all their families along with Kukui and Burnet were all gathered at the castle's movie theater as they were all watching the golfer woman and her Cannon Pokemon compete again. They had managed to attend their first Pokemon Golf tournament in some time and were making waves as they reached the finals with one final hole to sink their last ball in so they could finally win and break their losing streak.
And, that's it for the rival player. Kahili's up and she needs to sink this if she were to win it.
They watched anxiously as Kahili gently puts the ball and sure enough, it went in the hole as the crowd in the tournament cheered for whom everybody called the Alola Cannon Golfer and her Beaked Cannon with the golfer woman and Touckey clinching the match and breaking their losing streak at last.
She's done it, it's in! After such a harsh losing streak, Kahili and her Toucannon, Touckey-the Alola Cannon Golfer and the Beaked Cannon-are our new Pokemon Golf champions!
Everybody else in the home theater cheered loudly for Kahili as they were all proud of her and Touckey for finally winning their first championship in so long.
"She did it!"
"Amazing!"
"What a match coming from her and Touckey!"
"HOORAY!" Ash, Mallow, Tsareena, and Shaymin cheered while everybody else celebrated her victory in their own ways with bright smiles and happy yet passionate tears in Kiawe's case.
"After watching some children and the royal family having so much fun playing and learning about Pokemon Golf for the first time, it took me back to when I first started playing the sport!" Kahili thanked as she gave her interview before she turned to the camera and the heroes watching as she held out her trophy and gave her thanks. "Pokemon School kids, Your Majesties, this one's for you! Thank you so much!"
"Yes, indeed! Thank you all!" Touckey agreed happily as he joined her partner and gave his thanks as well while the two of them celebrated their long-awaited victory in some time, knowing that things are looking brighter for him and Kahili now thanks to their new friends.
"I'll be seeing you two, at the Eleventh Hole of Doom, HA!" an image of the disgraced caddy sneered as it appeared in the sky, catching Touckey's attention as he then raged at it, "Hmm?! Hey! What are you doing?! D'oh, wait 'til I get my talons on you, you creep!"
After a lively round of Pokemon Golf with our heroes, Kahili and Touckey are back in full swing as the journey continues!
