Pacifica went up on the stage for an announcement, "The open microphone entertainment is now starting. Everyone who signed up, please come to the stage."
Robbie, Gideon, and Bill Lownie came to the stage. Robbie went first, strumming his electric guitar in a sad but angry manner. The notes of the song fluctuated between low humming and deep growling. He wasn't singing; he was playing and letting the music speak for itself.
Gideon read over the paper with the love spell on it, and an evil smile crept over his face. He glanced at Lownie and muttered, "I know who you are, and tonight I will show everyone."
Lownie gulped hard. He knew precisely what Gideon meant. When Robbie finished, the audience clapped politely.
Gideon went upstage as Robbie came down and set up an electric organ. He played an upbeat little jingle. Most folks clapped their hands to the beat.
Gideon sang, "Well, here we go again, just little old me with a simple message!
I've got so much love in my heart for you. I'm surprised you can't return it.
But when this song is done.
I know that you'll see that I'm the one.
Evol em!
I will set your heart free!
Htrut eht ees!
I'm the one you want and need!
Noisulli an si ytilaer
Wake up and see the one you truly love is me!"
Gideon then encouraged the crowd, "When I say Rise, you say Up!"
Gideon said, "Rise!"
The audience shouted, "UP!"
Gideon said, "Rise!"
The audience shouted, "UP!"
Gideon said, "Rise!"
The audience shouted, "UP!"
Gideon then continued singing, "Evol em!
I will set your heart free!
Htrut eht ees!
I'm the one you want and need!
Noisulli an si ytilaer
Wake up and see the one you truly love is me!"
He finished off with a joyous tinkle of his organ. The audience cheered loudly. Bill Lownie took a deep breath and came upstage once Gideon got down. He strummed an acoustic guitar.
He sang, "Space is cold and dark.
It can be lonesome when you're wandering around.
Then there was a spark!
It was your light and warmth that were found.
Shine your light tonight!
Let your dawn chase away the night.
Shine your light tonight!
And everything will feel alright!"
Mabel watched in awe as Bill sang. It was like the rest of the world had fallen away as Bill Lownie strummed his guitar.
Lownie continued singing, "You'll never be too far.
You're my Shooting Star!"
He took off his glasses as a power surge shut off the lights. Blue fire suddenly ignited the stage and illuminated Bill Lowie. Mable gasped when she saw Lownie's eyes were glowing yellow. He was strumming more aggressively.
"Your light is so bright it's blinding!
I know my power can be hypnotizing,
I hope now you're realizing,
I shouldn't be alive!
I should have died!
Incinerate me!
Incinerate me!
The Call of the Void,
It is hard to avoid!
Shine your light!
Set things right!
Don't let me resurrect tonight!"
His voice was deep and imposing; he jumped into the air, and Mabel could have sworn he was floating back down. She could also see a distinct triangle shadow under him.
Bill sang as if he was begging, "Don't let me resurrect me tonight!"
Then, it was reset back to normal. Lownie put his glasses back on as the audience clapped excitedly. He got down from the stage. Mabel was caught off guard and a bit scared. Stanford was also stunned. He questioned if Bill may have been purposely holding back his power.
Lownie went back to the pizza table to clean up. The party eventually died down, and most folks were going home. Gideon came to Mabel. She grimaced at him.
Mabel asked, "What do you want, Gideon?"
Gideon went onto his knees, taking Mabel's hand, and asked, "Will you give me a second chance? My love for you is undeniable. I have grown a lot for the better. If you get to know me, you'll see it too."
Mabel thought about it, then replied, pulling her hand away, "I don't think so, at least not now. I'm just focusing on just the first month of summer."
Gideon smiled and said, "I'll count the days."
He stood up and went looking for Bill Lownie. Bill Lownie was sitting on a bench, staring at a paper crane in his hands. Gideon came to Bill.
Lownie put the crane away and asked, "Are you satisfied with the spell?"
Gideon then led Lownie down the path Cipher had him memorize, with Dipper quietly following the two of them.
Lownie approached Cipher's old body and reached for the outstretched hand.
Dipper shouted impulsively, "No wait, don't do it!"
Lownie stopped and asked, "Who said that?"
Gideon replied, "just some weirdo, I'll take care of it."
Gideon approached Dipper as Lownie stared at the statue.
Gideon asked, "What are you doing here?"
Dipper retorted, "What am I doing here? What are you doing here?"
Gideon answered, "Helping Bill Cipher fulfill his destiny!"
Dipper snapped, "Are you insane? Do you want Weirdmageddon again?!"
Gideon was quite in thought. Dipper Pines approached Bill, getting between the person and the statue.
Lownie said flatly, "I have to do this, Pine Tree. I'm just a vessel for him; I need to resurrect me."
Dipper saw Lownie's eyes. He could see the hollow sadness underlying the gold irises and narrow pupils. He took a deep breath.
"No," Dipper said, "You have a choice. You can be better than that jerk you were."
Lownie said robotically, "You don't know that for certain."
Dipper said bluntly, "Neither do you."
Lownie chuckled, "Uncertainty, it's perfect irony."
Gideon quipped, "I don't think that's ironic."
Dipper said, "Come on, let's get out of these woods."
Lownie followed Dipper away from Cipher's old body.
