The story begins like any other involving our favorite little gremlin, with Yamai chasing after Komi yet again, Kishi is there, stopping her as usual. Something is different this time though, Kishi and Yamai lock eyes for a second and Yamai instantly drops to the ground. The sound of Yamai's drop startled Komi who quickly looked over. By the time Komi looked over Yamai had already run to class. Kishi and Komi both thought this was unusual for her, as usually she would continue to antagonize Komi for a bit longer.
Komi and Kishi met up after school to discuss what had happened, normally Yamai would be there to try after her again but she wasn't. "So what the hell is up with her, she just stopped going after you." Kishi opened.
Komi quickly wrote in her notebook,"I don't really know, I just heard a thud and she was gone."
"She gazed my eyes for a second before dropping, I wonder what that was about."
In the notebook,"Maybe she was stunned by you Kishi-san"
A small blush arose on Kishi's face before she quietly said ,"That would be ridiculous, right." Komi would agree with her not realizing Kishi was thinking about her looks and not the metal arm she has. Tadano came to get Komi and walked her home. Kishi walked home herself, but thoughts were rising. Dumb thoughts, but thoughts nonetheless. What if Yamai could stop being all over Komi, would that stop the church of Komi. However, every now and then an image of Komi and Tadano flashed in her mind, really the thought of a relationship. She may not have seemed the type, but she was interested in dating.
The next day right on queue Yamai sprints towards Komi, she slows before Kishi stops her. They fight a little, before Yamai runs off. The next day, the same thing happens. After school Komi and Kishi meet to discuss what happened. Kishi opens," She's slowing down, but just fighting me a little and leaving, she isn't even after you anymore I feel like."
"It's odd of Yamai-san to not be chasing me." Komi writes in response. Tadano walks in as the two are talking through it and realizes what's happening.
He takes a seat and joins the conversation,"Wait, so Yamai is somewhat normal now?"
Kishi responds,"Yes, it's quite odd for her."
"She'd have to get hit by a brick to stop caring about Komi," he jokes. The two of them slowly fix their gaze to Kishi's arm.
"Hey Kishi?"
"What, Tadano"
He asks,"What arm did she run into before falling to the ground?" It was at around this time Komi pieced it together fully and started chuckling a little, Tadano felt embarrassed by how cute it was for some reason.
Kishi responds to the question holding up her metal arm,"This one, why?"
"No reason." Tadano says back. Tadano and Komi part from Kishi for the day.
The next day, Komi and Tadano walk in giggling, Kishi is spying on them, because for Itan High that's normal. Kishi wants to see how people in a relationship should act, so that she is prepared, one problem though; she chose the wrong people to watch for the person she's interested in. See, Komi and Tadano have a very odd but standard relationship, Yamai is anything but standard. As they sit down, the gremlin is right on queue, but stops before where Kishi's arm is supposed to be, and looks at Kishi. The two lock eyes, Kishi blushes a little bit before Yamai does the same and runs. Tadano can't help but laugh a little while Komi studies the situation. The truth is Tadano and Komi would love it if Yamai could date Kishi, it could make Yamai normal and keep Komi safe.
The bell rang for the next period, though this was interesting, see Kishi had gotten intel on the Church of Komi's secret attack, she would warn
the two about it. Tadano and Kishi got ready to protect Komi from a literal cult, really just Yamai, but had noticed something as the charge came. Yamai was nowhere to be seen. Without her, the whole attack felt lackluster. However, a chant that wasn't audible arose and raised their spirits. "What the hell," Kishi yelled,"they can boost moral like Komi too?" Tadano scanned for Yamai as a member of the Church was nearing Komi.
Before long all that could be heard was a scream from Yamai,"Lay off of my friend Komi. We are done chasing after her, I'm disbanding this group now." Tadano and Kishi very quickly ran to Komi, the two seemed close, but Yamai didn't try anything. "I'm sorry." Yamai said.
"What?" Tadano, Kishi, and the whole building.
"I'm so sorry," tears now rushing down her face. Kishi looked skeptical but Tadano assured her this was a real Yamai cry.
"Why?" was all Tadano could muster up.
"Fo-o-o-r everythi-i-i-ng," she teared up. An apology from Yamai after years of torture was not what Komi or Tadano expected. Komi started crying with her, no one had seen her cry, besides Tadano. Everyone looked at him to help, but he didn't even know what to do. Kishi came by Yamai to comfort her, blushing a little. Tadano realized, even though it was his girlfriend, this wasn't his situation. Komi was crying because it was over and to help Yamai feel better. After all the shit Yamai put Komi through, she still wanted to comfort her. A tear dropped from Tadano's cheek.
-Three Days after the Church's attack-
A weekend had passed, and Kishi was stressing the whole of it about what to do. She wanted to ask Yamai out but she felt as though it would be too quick. She didn't know what to do, she talked about it with Komi for a bit before some certain individuals heard. "Hey Komi," Sasaki began,"Are you talking about love to someone but us?"
"No, you see Kishi-san here was talking to me." Komi responds in her notebook."
"Ooh Kishi, who is it?" Katou pursued.
"Like any of that is true." Kishi said blushing heavily.
"Visit us after school OK!" Sasaki said.
In the room where love was discussed, you can imagine how quickly Kishi was questioned.
"So, who is it?" Sasaki immediately opened.
"Who is what?" Kishi responded
Sasaki locking in,"Who is the person you are interested in, Kometani?"
"No, of course not him." In her mind she realized that was genuine and eliminated a person from the bracket.
"Is it yuri?" Katou blindly asked.
"N-No"
"Well then we know it's a girl at least."
Sasaki,"You think it could be Naka?"
"It's not naka!" Kishi blindly yells. The two whisper while Kishi and Komi sit there silent. They are going through a list and will evaluate which is most likely in their minds. Komi tells Kishi that they know what they are doing because she is with Tadano. Kishi doesn't believe that but goes along regardless.
"Random guess here, Yamai, eliminate the wild card." Sasaki bolted."
"Who told y- N-n-no." Kishi stuttered.
"Wait, so of all people you want Yamai?" Katou responded.
Now with her face red as roses she responded,"Y-ye-s."
"Well then what does she like?" Sasaki asked. Over the next hour or so they discussed what Yamai liked, most discourse went to Komi. The two still couldn't believe there was any interest in Yamai, but she seemed so normal and sane now; like she got hit with a metal arm. With no one finding something to get her they just decided on flowers, a neutral gift.
The next day, Yamai sat next to Komi for a bit, just talking and being friendly, an extreme oddity in contrast to usual. Tadano remained cautious and watched, as everyone watched her; everyone but Kishi. Who was trying to convince herself to stop Yamai. Yamai was walking out of the door, queue Kishi,"W-wait."
"Yeah, Kishi?" Yamai responded
"N-nothing." After that response Yamai went on with her day, but decided that she would meet up with Kishi after school. The whole day Kishi felt anxious about it. Tadano tried to comfort her, but even though he was dating Komi, he has absolutely no idea what the hell you even do with Yamai. Everyone tried to console her, this was a side of Kishi no one had seen. Through classes even teachers got interested, really in the thought of what Yamai would do. Even Sukida was interested in this now. It was safe to say people were incredibly interested in what would happen.
School ended, and Yamai went into the classroom where Kishi was sitting with a few others. "Hey, Kishi, what was it that you wanted?" Yamai said as she walked through.
"Oh uh, H-Hi Yamai." Kishi stuttered.
"So what did you need to tell me, huh?" Kishi grabbed the roses and shoved them into Yamai's hands, blushing.
"These… are for y-you." She said as she walked out. Yamai stood there clueless for a while; did Kishi like her? Yamai talked with the others for a bit, she was now enjoyable to talk to; despite still being petty with Naka. They'd eventually spill that Kishi had liked her, to which she was somewhat surprised. After all, Kishi would be the one to stop her from getting to Komi, it seemed like Kishi despised her. Yamai decided to chase after Kishi, after Komi pointed her to her address. Yamai ran, ran quickly out the building. Tadano and Komi decided to follow to watch what would happen. Tadano scoffed at the irony that Komi was stalking Yamai. Yamai and the other two ran after Kishi.
"KISHI!" She yelled out the second she saw a metallic arm.
"Ya-Yamai!?" She responded, turning around.
"Kishi, wait!" Yamai yelled back. Kishi had begun walking her way, while Yamai had miscalculated how far Kishi was and was still running full speed.
"Yamai what are you doing he-" she was interrupted by Yamai running into her metal arm, but she was lifted and the pair's lips touched. Yamai quickly tried to escape and apologize. Though, Kishi held her, and soon Yamai did. This was when Tadano started laughing and Komi got some photos. The moment Kishi and Yamai realized they weren't alone they separated themselves. "Hey, hey you've got it all wrong." Yamai bolted.
Still laughing Tadano tried to explain,"No, we really don't care." Yamai however, had a different target, she saw Komi taking photos.
"Komi, delete those now." she yelled. Kishi was watching this unfold still half-unconscious from the kiss. But even if she deleted them, Komi had already uploaded them to a group chat. See, Komi was ready for this, once Yamai realized they were already outside of the phone she stopped caring.
Kishi walked towards Yamai,"So, are we together now."
Tadano responded."Yeah, why not." Yamai ran into her arms; for a hug this time. Tadano and Komi began walking home, while calling the group of friends and telling them every single thing that happened. Kishi and Yamai walked home for a bit.
The next day was going to be very awkward, Kishi and Yamai realized this at similar times while they were getting ready to go to school. Kishi had gotten Yamai's number from Tadano. After a while she texted her asking to meet up and walk together, they did but just blushed and barely made eye contact. When they made it to school, the other gremlin; Najimi, was there waiting, so it could pester the two about it. Pretty much the whole school had to see a normal Yamai next to a friendly Kishi. Yamai was greeting people like normal, walking near Kishi. She got into a bickering with Naka, but they ended it quickly as it was pointless. Kishi kept walking forward, saying hi to her friends; Tadano and Komi really. Kishi and Yamai walked to their classes, again not making eye contact. Tadano and Komi knew not to ask her out of respect, but that wouldn't stop everyone. Naka would eventually come back over to Yamai. Strangely though, not to argue but rather to congratulate her. For the first time in a while they acted like friends, except they weren't acting. Tadano was happy that there were less people to worry about and Komi was happy that there wasn't a genuinely insane yandere orbiting her anymore.
After school, the two met up, Komi and Tadano were somehow vital elements to this relationship, and they wanted to make sure it went well. Intentionally this time, the two kissed, and hugged afterward. The two walked out in the now rainy weather under one umbrella, no longer enemies but lovers. Kishi's arm around Yamai; both were blushing. Tadano and Komi walked out the same.
