Prologue: A History of Nameless Heroes

What was the dungeon?

Well even now after so much time the answer did not seem to be clearer than before, no one really knew what this place was or what purpose it served in the order of the world, the dungeon or dungeon as it was mostly known had been there forever, even before the arrival of the "gods" to the world the dungeon had been there.

And although in the beginning it seemed completely indifferent to the life that inhabited the planet, eventually and for an unknown reason it considered them as a threat and was determined to end all traces of it, this was even clearer when the life was in fact almost completely extinguished, the beasts released by the dungeon were too much for the humans and semi-humans that inhabited the planet.

The hope of surviving it was easily decimated and day after day fear was the common factor in each of the inhabitants of this world, however, with the help of a few brave people who decided to fight, life prospered again and little by little hope was recovered.

Cautiously a boy walked along the wide paths of the dungeon.

This boy's name was Bell Cranel, a 15-year-old boy whose greatest feature was his snow-white hair and red eyes that could easily be mistaken for a rabbit, as many had told him throughout his childhood.

It had only been three weeks since he had arrived in the city and only a week since he had managed to join the "family" of a god, these last few weeks had been quite difficult in comparison to what seemed to be his everyday life as a simple country boy with aspirations beyond his own capabilities

"Grandfather I want to be a hero, like the ones in the stories you tell me" Said the boy in an energetic manner.

Memories of a not so distant past came to him as he continued on his way into the dungeon, if only a month ago someone had told him that he would be in Orario, the city that is well known not only for having a mysterious dungeon but also for being the center of the world he probably wouldn't have believed it, For him it was a fact that he would have eventually come here in order to accomplish his goal, but he had not planned to come suddenly as he finally ended up doing, if it wasn't for the death of his grandfather who was the only family he knew his journey would have started much later than he is doing right now.

The first days after his grandfather's death had been especially difficult compared to the others, the loneliness, the sadness and the helplessness of not having been able to do anything to prevent his grandfather's death had been extremely difficult feelings to overcome, was there really something good to live for? What was the point of fulfilling his dream if he had not even been able to save the person, he loved the most? These were some of the many questions that kept him awake for days.

At the end of the day, he was just a boy who even though he had seemingly lost his parents and all of his immediate family, he still had his grandfather even when none of the others could be there for him, so when for the first time a tragedy that would truly affect him appeared in his lifetime how else could he react, if not in a way that was completely harmful to himself?

In the end even if his body and heart were heavy, he made the decision to fulfill his dream of being a hero, even if his grandfather was not there to see him, he would make sure to honor his memory by following his dream no matter how childish and improbable it may have been.

His first challenge was to find a "Family" This was a task that really took him a while given that his appearance did not differ much from that of a fragile child who could barely stand up, during the first days in the city he was constantly humiliated by it, in fact if the kind goddess had not appeared and given him a chance he probably would have left everything right there, the death of a loved one and being almost disowned by everyone was not a good combination for the mind of a 15 year old boy at all.

Anyway, back to the main point, he was in the dungeon right now, this was the third time he entered this place since he finally became an adventurer, his goal in his mind was clear "to become stronger" was what drove him even if he was not even able to go beyond the third floor of the dungeon thanks to how weak he was, he was completely determined to come here as many times as necessary to achieve his goal and really have a chance that his dream would be fulfilled.

Returning to his tour of the dungeon, Bell was walking around looking everywhere, this was weird... Despite having been walking for more than 20 minutes since he arrived, he had not seen a single monster in the surroundings, this made advancing through the floors fast due to the lack of enemies trying to stop him, now he was close to the 5th floor... Should he go back?

His kind but extremely demanding advisor, who even though they hadn't known each other for long seemed to genuinely care about him had given him more than one piece of advice since he met her the day he registered as an adventurer in the guild

"At the slightest sign that something weird or dangerous is going on get out of there Bell do you understand?" Eina said with a terrified look on her face.

"Since you are going alone to the dungeon and you are of a low level don't go beyond the third floor for now" The girl stressed with a serious look at the boy.

Bell swallowed as he realized that in fact, he had already left aside one of Eina's advice, taking into account how demanding she was, he didn't want to imagine what would happen if she found out about this... Well, she didn't have to find out anyway, did she?

"Maybe I really should go back..." Bell thought out loud, in the end what was the point of coming to the dungeon if there was nothing to fight with to become stronger, probably and now that he thought about it more in detail the large group of people who entered shortly before him had taken all the monsters ahead of him.

In fact, if that was the case, it was to be expected that there was nothing to fight and it could also explain the small amount of people he had seen in the dungeon during his descent to where he was now.

All in all, he would return for today to the surface, he could ask Eina for one of those lessons about the dungeon that she had offered him a few days ago, a little information of what he would find in the deeper floors would never hurt

*Crack*

Unfortunately for Bell he was only able to advance a few steps back when he felt a strong tremor under his feet, he barely had time to think before the whole floor seemed to collapse in an instant.

/ \ / \ / \

Bell opened his eyes again, everything in his body hurt, the fall had undoubtedly done him great harm, with effort he removed some rocks that had fallen on him and slowly sat down on a pile of rocks behind him.

"Where am I?" he thought to himself as he looked around in disorientation.

This place didn't look like anything he knew, nor had he heard of any deep floors, for all the good in the world he hoped this wasn't it, despite wanting to be stronger Bell knew very well what his current strength was and doubted he could survive a floor beyond his capacity... Whatever it was he should find someone to help him locate and get out of here, he doubted that staying for long in this place was a good idea.

As he got up, he could not help but think about what happened, what had caused that tremor, he had never heard about a similar phenomenon inside the dungeon before, maybe this place itself was a mystery, but as far as he knew this had not happened before.

"Augh" Bell complained in pain as soon as he tried to stand up completely, his leg was hurting too much he couldn't rest it completely on the ground... That was not a good sign he might have a dislocated leg and worst-case scenario broken, with more urgency he needed to get out of here as soon as possible

But that was not all, the blood rolled down his forehead and his arms also hurt too much, if he really wanted to consider the idea of getting out of the dungeon alive he should avoid at all costs any kind of confrontation with any monster no matter how weak it was, he would probably still be able to clumsily defend himself from the weakest enemies, but a fight would only tire him and make him waste the energy needed to get out of the predicament he had gotten into, so taking a breath and filling himself with determination Bell walked with great effort in search of a way out.

Walking had never represented a real challenge until now, the simple fact of standing up was already making Bell sweat bullets, it did not help at all the fact that he was completely lost, unlike the upper floors, the floor where he was, had wide corridors where he looked everywhere he looked at the floor and ceiling made of bedrock, besides the light of the place was limited and the atmosphere felt humid, I'm just making the location or even think about locating was a rather complicated task.

Walking at an extremely slow pace, Bell was still in search of help, his pain was only increasing and if he kept going the way he was going he would eventually run out of strength to even stand anymore

"▂▂▃▃▄▄▄▅▅▅" A roar echoed through the floor drawing Bell's attention.

Turning in the direction where the roar came from, he could see a monster he easily recognized, a Wyvern, this was a monster that appeared in the middle floors of the dungeon, that was a good sign, despite having fallen a minimum of eight floors (The power of the script prevented him from dying from the fall xd) after the tremor, if he found someone he could get out of here with ease

However, even though at least he had already found an indication of where he could be found, this situation was not good, Bell was quite injured and he was completely sure that if that monster saw him, he would be finished, although he still had his sword and could try to defend himself even though he was in a horrible state and he supposed that the slightest attack from that Wyvern would send him to sleep immediately.

Bell took his sword as a precaution and without taking his eyes off the place where the roar had come from, he crept up to one of the walls to hide while the wyvern moved away.

However, Bell's luck couldn't have been worse, as he tried to hide, a rabbit monster with white fur and a horn launched itself towards Bell, making him fall before the sudden appearance of the latter.

Of course, this fight didn't last long since to Bell's fortune these types of rabbit monsters were only dangerous when in a group and he had only run into one, making him with a somewhat clumsy cut be able to eliminate the little creature

"▂▂▃▃▄▄▄▅▅▅" The roar was heard once and to Bell's horror the Wyvern seemed to have heard her short fight with the rabbit.

Even though he had managed to get rid of the little monster his little fight with this creature was enough to draw attention to the real problem, this was terribly wrong.

It was one thing to fight a small creature that was considered the weakest beast within the intermediate floors and quite another to fight a wyvern that only had a tail that was 5 meters long, at that moment the pain in her leg and the worry of worsening her wound ceased to matter completely.

Even though his legs hurt and it was difficult to even stand up, Bell ran, ran with everything he had no matter how much pain this action caused him.

However, this didn't seem to do any good, in an instant and thanks to the monster's great advantage of being able to fly, it accelerated its flight when it saw the boy's intention, it was definitely not going to let such a defenseless prey escape easily.

The Wyvern quickly reached Bell and attacked him with its tail, hitting him full force and sending the boy flying into a nearby wall.

The blow had been too much for Bell, with his vision completely blurred by blood the boy watched with effort as the beast that attacked him slowly approached, it almost seemed to be doing it on purpose in order to make the victim feel fear and helplessness.

"So, I'm going to die..." Bell thought in frustration "GrandfatherCOPY00. Please forgive me, I wasn't even able to start my adventure".

"In the end I was nothing more than a child, with a dream impossible to fulfill" It was his last thought finally resigning himself to his fate.

The beast was approaching, he knew it very well, this boy had lost the will to fight and was not going to try anything to escape or defend himself

Then the monster opened its mouth and approached to deliver the final blow.

Bell's breathing was getting more and more frightened.

The monster was getting closer and closer.

And then

*Slash*

Just before the Wyvern could deliver the final blow a sword claimed his head and dissipated leaving behind a small crystal.

Bell's vision was completely blurred but he was able to identify a golden-haired person who had saved him.

"Are you okay?" the person asked in a concerned tone.

Then Bell finally after the great load he had been under fell unconscious.
