Hello!
It's been a while since I've written anything, and I know I have to finish my Levi fic (that will be done...eventually), but I couldn't help myself.
Enjoy! Leave a review and just have a good time entering my fantasy world.
High School
"Not again." I sighed as my back hit the ground due to another defeat. The late summer air filled my lungs as I took in a deep breath. With the grass underneath me, I was reminded of my defeat. I opened my eyes to see black oval sunglasses looking back at me. With a grin on his face, Satoru said,
"You did well, Tsu." He reached his hand out for me to grab, so he could help me back up. I sat up myself and shook my head as I kissed my teeth.
"Not good enough." I commented. After pushing myself off the ground, I turned to walk away from Satoru, but he stopped me when he asked,
"Hey, don't you want to come and grab lunch with us?" I raised my hand up and waved to him as I walked away saying,
"No thanks, I should probably shower before afternoon classes." With that, I dug my hands into the pockets of my sweater and walked towards the dorms. The practice match kept playing in my head over and over again. I analyzed every detail before opening up my door and heading into my room. Once I was by myself, I leaned up against my door, my head hung low, and a sigh finally escaped my lips.
Why can't I just be as strong as him? I'm always so far behind.
I grabbed a change of clothes out of my drawers and headed towards the shower. Once I was clean and dressed, I looked in the mirror before leaving my room to head to class. I had braided my long black hair into two braids, starting from the top of my head. My skin looked soft, my lips looked hydrated, but my eyes had a deep sadness to them. Those black as night eyes looked back at me – just to show me that no matter how hard I worked, I was never going to change what has already been written.
"Okay class, we're going to run some drills. There are low-level curses in the forest, and you must kill them all. However, the one that kills them first will win a prize." Sensei Yaga announced. I stood next to Shoko, while Suguru was next to her, and Satoru was last. The five of us stood a few meters away from the forest. With the afternoon sun beating down on us, we were prepared to begin our training.
"Oh? What will the prize be?" Satoru inquired.
"Gloating rights, obviously." Was the answer we received. He crossed his large arms over his chest and looked forward, completely ignoring the shocked expression on Satoru's face.
"Huh?" Satoru wasn't happy with this answer and Suguru chuckled to himself. "You can't say that there is a prize when there isn't! That's a lie!"
"Oh, is it? Well, I don't think that'll stop you from being competitive. Now, you four head into the forest, there are a total of 20 curses in there – five for each of you." We all began walking towards the edge of the forest, but my steps faltered when I heard sensei yell for me, "Tsu, don't rely on your sword so much this time! Work on your curse!"
"Yea yea!" I waved to him as we continued to walk to the tall trees in front of us.
"I bet you've gotten a lot stronger recently, Tsu." Shoko said to me as the four of us continued walking. Shoko had always been nice to me – she had the belief in me that I wish I had for myself.
"I don't know about that." I sighed. You're always last in class.
"Oh, come on Tsu, you're always so hard on yourself." Suguru said. I looked at him and he gave me a soft smile. His smile reached his eyes and he always appeared genuine when he spoke. I always wondered why someone as nice as him would be best friends with Satoru – who had the biggest ego in all of Japan.
"I mean, it's hard not to be when you're in the same class as the strongest sorcerer in Japan." Satoru added. I rolled my eyes at his comment. Satoru Gojo was someone that I constantly had mixed feelings about. I wanted to be him, have his confidence, and his power. On the other hand, I wanted to hit him in the face with a frying pan because his ego was too large.
"Hey, I think all four of us have our strengths." Shoko said as we crossed into the forest. "Obviously, Satoru has the Six Eyes, Suguru with his curse selection, me with my reverse healing, and you with your moon abilities." I stretched my hands above my head and rolled my shoulders back to loosen them up – readying for these curses lurking in the trees ahead.
"I mean, I don't know if I'm as good as you three, but I'm giving it my best shot." I said.
"How about we make this interesting." Satoru suggested. We all stopped and looked at him as we waited for him to continue. "Whoever finishes last, has to do whatever the first-place finisher wants." Satoru had a cheeky grin on his face as he looked at us.
"I'm in. I'm confident I won't be last." Suguru said.
"I'll do my best to not be last, but I definitely can't make any promises." Shoko added. Then, all three faces turned to look at me. I sighed with defeat,
"I guess that means I'm in too."
"Perfect! May the best person win!" Satoru cheered as he ran off into the forest looking for five curses to kill. The rest of us split up. I was running through the forest until I sensed some curse energy to my right. After quickly jumping up the tree to land on a branch, I peered through the leaves and saw a curse making its way past me. It was shaped as a large blue slug with blisters all over it.
This is almost too easy.
I pulled out my Damascus steel blade with white copper trimmings. It was recently polished, so I could see my reflection in it. On the hilt was a dark blue cord that was 10 inches long with a crescent moon pendant near the end. After imbuing it with some of my cursed energy, I jumped off the branch and sliced the curse in half. As I walked away, it disappeared into dust behind me.
After walking another five minutes, I felt the presence of something coming from behind me and I quickly ducked, swiveled on my right foot, and looked up to see another curse had tried to attack me. It resembled a baboon, but it had fangs that hung outside of its mouth, mold on its arm, and a disgusting smell that filled my nose.
"My God, why do you stink?" I asked out loud. The curse didn't like my comment, which is when it ran towards me, screaming, with its mouth wide open. I stood still until the last second, when I ducked down, raised my sword and sliced its head off. While I walked away from the disappearing curse, I could finally breathe again.
Walking further into the forest, I was surprised when an axe came flying my way. I ducked down, so I wouldn't be hit by it, but was surprised when I heard it flying back towards me from behind. I dropped to my knees a second time to avoid the axe. When I looked up, I was met with green eyes that were the size of dinner plates on a body that was a few feet taller than me. The larger, rounder, and louder curse walked towards me with its axe in both hands. I propped my blade on my shoulder as I watched it.
It was definitely larger than me, it could have faster reflexes than the other two curses I'd come across, and it may be slightly more intelligent. I wanted to ensure my safety, so I proceeded with caution. It ran towards me, holding its axe above its head. I jumped out of the way as it swung it towards me, I slid across the dirt before pushing forward on the tips of my toes, to try and swing at the curse with my blade.
It blocked my blade with its axe, so I quickly jumped back. The curse began to charge towards me again, but I jumped to the left. However, it grabbed my ankle and swung me around, throwing me into a tree trunk. My back collided with the hard wood before I fell face first into dirt. I heard the loud stomping of its feet as it ran towards me again, but I quickly rolled to the side, so it ran straight into the tree. I quickly jumped to my feet because it took no time for the curse to turn towards me and run again.
However, I ran towards it, dropping at the last second, to slide between its legs, slightly touch its ankle, and stand when I made it behind him.
"Gravity Manipulation: Push."
Gravity Manipulation: Push – Where the user is able to grab onto the gravitational pull of the object/thing and move them as they wish. This can allow the user to push or pull their enemy. More advanced users can move their opponent up into the sky and down into the ground, showing the opponent the true power of the gravitational pull of the moon.
I commanded my curse energy as I used my hands to pull the gravitational threads around the curse taught before pushing him completely backwards – sending him straight into the tree – causing it to break due to the impact. With the curse lying on its stomach on top of a broken tree, I ran towards it before jumping and landing on its back. With a quick movement of my wrist, I cut its head off – leaving it to disappear while I walked away.
That's three curses so far. I don't think I'm doing too badly. I wonder how the others are doing. I'm sure Satoru is first already.
A yawn escaped my mouth as I tilted my head back. I had been training for a couple hours in the morning, then after morning classes, and now I was searching for two more curses in the woods. Exhausted wasn't the right word for me in that moment, but it was the only one I could think of. It will all pay off.
Suddenly, an arrow whizzed right passed my face and landed on the tree next to me. I turned my head to the right to meet with nothing. Another whizzing sound of an arrow was coming towards me, so I moved out of the way. I looked up and realized that whatever was shooting these arrows would be in the trees.
"Lunar Aura: Damascus."
Lunar Aura: Damascus – Where the holder is able to transfer some of their lunar cursed energy to an item of their will. Lunar Aura can be used to help the holder of the cursed energy, allowing them to move faster and have stronger physical capabilities. Additionally, more advanced users can use this to create an aura shield around their person, helping to defend off attacks.
The imbued curse energy on my blade heightened as I sent more around it. I jumped out of the way of another arrow before slicing my blade in the air – sending a streak of lunar energy in the direction of a branch where I sensed a curse. I heard a yell as an arm fell from the tree and landed on the ground. "God damn it." I mumbled as I heard it begin to move away.
I jumped up a tree and landed on a branch before jumping from branch to branch – chasing the curse. I was lucky enough that the trees were so close together, so I didn't need to use too much energy to follow the curse. It moved at an incredible speed through the trees. After it shot another arrow at me, I swung my blade again – sending another ripple of lunar energy its way. Another scream was heard as I heard a thud on the ground below.
After jumping down, I saw that there was a curse evaporating into the air. With that, I continued my search for the final one I needed to kill in order to head back to the school. After walking for another five minutes, I sensed a curse to my left. I sprinted through the trees, went through a berry bush, and made my way to an open area.
The curse in front of me was a large ball with muscly arms. As soon as it saw me, it grabbed a bit of the ground and threw it my way. I jumped out of the way and pulled out my blade as I ran around it. Then, additional eyes appeared on the curse, watching me from every corner. I tried to run towards it, but it either threw things at me, would try to punch me, or would jump extremely high in the air.
With growing frustration, I was thinking about what to do. After placing my blade back into its sheath, I ran towards the curse, it jumped in the air, so I touched its shadow. I stood away from it before saying,
"Shadow Manipulation: Copy." I tried to practice the hardest part of my curse energy – shadow manipulation.
Shadow Manipulation: Copy – Where the user is able to gain access to the opponents' shadow and make it attack its holder. This can be used in a long-range attack and it useful for larger enemies. However, the larger the shadow, the more difficult to control.
The shadow was too large for me to move. No matter how much I concentrated, I could feel how heavy the curse was. The feeling of a vessel in my forehead protruding began to annoy me, so I let go of the shadow and realized that I wasn't strong enough to use that form of manipulation yet. Begrudgingly, I pulled out my blade again and ran towards the curse. Before it could jump up, I jumped first, imbuing my blade with my Lunar Aura, and slashing it towards the curse – sending a streak of light its way.
It reached a corner of the ball-shaped curse as it jumped out of the way. The piece that fell off meant that it could no longer land straight and was wobbling around the ground. I ran towards it, jumped up, and brought my blade down to pierce it in its left eye. A shrieking sound escaped its mouth as it opened up wide. I jumped back, dodging its teeth that tried to grab me.
I ran towards it from behind fast enough for it to not settle straight, so I raised my blade and slashed at it again. This happened a couple of times until I finally finished with my fifth curse. With a sigh of relief, I turned on my heels and started making my way back to school.
As I walked out of the forest, I had a cloth in my hand and was wiping all the residual curse juices off my blade. My grandmother gave me this Damascus before I left for Jujutsu High School. She made sure to put the crescent moon pendant on the end of the string as a good luck charm.
"Hey, Tsu!" I looked up and saw Satoru, Shoko, and Suguru standing next to our sensei. I sighed when I realized that I was last in this exercise. I'm not entirely surprised.
"Shit." I mumbled to myself before I reached the four people waiting for me.
"Well, Tsu. You may have been last today, but you weren't far behind Shoko. Also, my eyes were telling me that you did use more of your curse techniques and that it went pretty well. You should be proud of yourself." Sensei complimented me in front of my class.
"Thank you." I mumbled my thanks.
"Come on Tsu, lighten up!" I felt Satoru lazily wrap an arm around my shoulders as he smiled to himself. "You are the most improved! That is something to celebrate!"
"Get off, Satoru." I said.
"Now now, I can do what I want because I am the winner." He gloated.
"I'm not surprised in the least." Of course, he was first, he's always first.
"Well, Satoru, I guess that means Tsu has to do one thing for you." Suguru teased. I looked up and saw a smile on his face as Shoko snickered next to him. The last thing I wanted was to be in debt to Satoru Gojo. There was no telling what he was going to suggest.
"I don't know what I want." Satoru pouted his lips in thought.
"Any time this decade would be nice." I stated out of frustration. I just want to get this over and done with.
"Well, how about I think about it. Which means you're in my debt until you can pay it off."
"But that's not a part of the plan!" I exclaimed as I raised my hands above my head – stepping away from him, so I could look him in the eye. Satoru bent towards me and looked at me over his sunglasses.
"All's fair in love and war, Tsu." God, why am I stuck with someone like him?
So, what did you think of the first chapter? Are you ready for more?
I've already written a ridiculous amount and have many ideas, so there is a lot to share!
Let me know!
