This is an idea I've been playing around with for a while. I wanted to get it out there to see if anyone would be interested. I am not abandoning any of my other stories, I will finish those, even if it takes me a decade and everyone has long forgotten about them.
This chapter is short as I'm just testing the waters with it.
Anyways, On to the Chapter!
Aizawa hated staff meetings.
He found them a waste of the very little time he had between teaching class and going on his nightly patrols. Most of them were for frivolous things that could easily be handled with a short email or text.
Today was not one of those meetings.
"I'm sure you all know why I've called this meeting," Nezu, a small white animal and the principal of the school, said from his chair.
Aizawa and all of his colleagues scowled.
It'd been two days since his students had been victims of a large-scale and planned attack on their school. Two days since Aizawa had to watch his student push themselves to their absolute limits to survive. Two days since he had failed as a hero and as a teacher.
"I won't waste time going over something I'm sure you've all beat yourself up over already," Nezu said gravely. "Instead we're going to discuss what needs to change for us to avoid a similar situation happening again."
Aizawa snorted, drawing the attention of the other pro heroes in the room.
"Something to add Aizawa?" Nemuri asked, all traces of her seductress persona gone.
Aizawa shook his head and scoffed.
"I think it's pretty obvious what one of us can do to make the school safer."
Aizawa pointed a bandaged finger accusingly toward Toshinori, the large man having the decency to look ashamed.
"How did you burn through your seven-hour time limit before our field trip," Aizawa snarled.
Aizawa had never liked All Might, he found his loud and overly positive attitude too much to stomach. Since he'd been given the opportunity to work with him, he found himself liking him even less.
"People needed help I ha-"
"We are in a city with one of the highest hero populations on the planet, I'm sure someone else could have helped those people," Aizawa said in response to All Might's unfinished answer. "You're student needed you and you prioritized your ego over their safety."
Aizawa punctuated his statement with a challenging glare.
"He's right you know," a new and metallic voice said.
Aizawa immediately turned toward the doorway and was slightly taken aback by who it was.
Leaning casually on the doorframe was Japan's Number Two Hero, Wavebreak. He was a tall man suited in an intricate set of amour that concealed his face. Where his eyes would be were blue flames. The design of his costume was familiar, yet Aizawa couldn't figure out why.
"Wavebreak, how nice of you to join us," Nezu said cheerfully. "I assume your trip over here was pleasant."
Wavebreak snorted as he pushed himself off the wall and sat down in an empty chair.
"We both know that's bullshit," Wavebreak scoffed. "Villians have been extra uppity since UA's latest oopsie."
Aizawa bristled at the hero's dismissal of the dangers his students faced. He was about to say something but was beaten to the punch by Nemuri.
"What brings you here today Number Two? It's my understanding that you're a busy man."
Wavebreak nodded in agreement.
"True true, I am usually busy, but I'm here as a favor for ol' Nezzy here."
Aizawa's eyes snapped to the man, his previous frustration replaced with shock and fear.
"Now Percy there is no need for that, we both know you're too old to be using names like that," The principal chuckled before addressing the stunned staff. "Wavebreak here has generously offered to assist All Might in the teaching of his class while also providing extra security for the school."
It took Aizawa a moment to process what Nezu said. He was happy the blonde oaf was getting some assistance, but he was unsure about his aid.
Aizawa studied the armored man across from him. He knew who Wavebreak was, anyone with a pulse knew he was. Wavebreak was just as, if not more popular than All Might, and for good reason. He was the top search and rescue hero and his criminal capture numbers were second only to Endeavor. The only reason he wasn't the Number One hero was purely because he didn't want to be.
Yet despite his stellar track record, very little was known about him. He only did interviews regarding his charity work and had no sponsors or brand deals. His only public appearances were the yearly Hero Ranking announcement and his bi-annual nationwide beach clean-up. The man was a mystery, one that made Aizawa nervous.
"It's a pleasure to be here," The man said in an amused tone. "Before we move on I think it would be beneficial if you all knew who you were working with."
Before anyone could say anything Wavebreak tapped the center of his chest twice, causing his amour to retract into a necklace, revealing the face of a man no older than twenty.
"You're a kid," Aizawa said bluntly, his mouth moving faster than his brain.
"I've been a hero since before your grandparents were embryos," The man replied snarkily. "Anyway, ignoring Shouta's rude comment, my name is Percy Jackson, nice to meet you."
"Percy, remember where you are," Nezu chided slightly, a large grin on his face.
"Sorry, Aizawa's comment," Percy replied with an eye roll. "I thought you guys would have gotten rid of that whole thing by now."
"You're American?" The previously silent Snipe asked.
"What gave it away?" Percy replied with a smirk. "Was it my roughish good looks or my accent?"
Aizawa sighed.
He respected Wavebreak and his lack of media presence, but the man behind the mask was nothing like what he thought he'd be. His personality reminded him of another top-ten hero, and Aizawa found her hard to deal with.
"Now that introductions are out of the way, we can get to why I'm here," Percy said suddenly, any trace of humor in his voice gone. "Toshinori needs serious help as a teacher," Percy turned to Nezu. "I know you hired him so he could find a successor, but you couldn't have gotten him a teaching aide? I mean even a third-year student would work."
Aizawa noticed All Might pale considerably, causing him to look at the number two hero through narrowed eyes.
"I admit that is a failing on my part," Nezu replied, his face neutral. "I had faith he would be a good teacher, but I was wrong."
"As much as I enjoy All Might being dressed down, what is this about a successor?" Aizawa asked.
"I'm curious about that as well," Nemuri added.
Percy whipped his head around and glared at All Might.
"You haven't told them?"
"Y-you know why I have-" All Might started to say before being cut off by Percy slamming his fist on the table.
"DAMNIT YAGI!" Percy yelled as he jumped to his feet. "WE TALKED ABOUT THIS!"
Aizawa recoiled in shock, an action mirrored by most of the other heroes in the room.
Percy pinched his brow and took a deep breath.
"I'm sorry for yelling, but seriously Yagi? Still?"
All Might looked down at his lap, a look of shame on his face.
"Are you gonna share with the class Wavebreak, or are you going keep yelling at All Might," Aizawa said, noticing for the first time the dent Percy put in the table.
"We're talking about Yagi's quirk and how-" Percy stopped himself and looked to the shrunken form of All Might. "Actually he should tell you."
"Are you sure this is wise?" All Might asked tiredly.
Aizawa almost felt bad for the number-one hero, his face similar to a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Almost.
"Your successor needs support from people who fully understand what they're dealing with. By not telling others, you are denying him that support."
All Might sat up in his chair and nodded gravely.
"Very well. The name of my quirk in One For All."
Aizawa inhaled sharply. The name had a certain power to it, one he couldn't explain.
"Over two hundred years ago there were two brothers. One quirkles-"
"Are you seriously doing this shit right now? Percy said, cutting All Might off.
All Might looked confused.
"What?"
Percy buried his face in his hands and muttered something Aizawa couldn't understand under his breath.
"Your whole grand story," Percy waved his hand dismissively. "Just give them the basics. Your quirk is a stockpiler that can be passed on, your arch-nemesis is All For One, you're the eighth holder, and Izuku Midoriya is the ninth."
Aizawa felt like he was just hit by a truck.
Midoriya, his problem child, had All Might's quirk. The quirk of the number one hero belonged to a teenager in his class. A child who had a tendency to shatter his bones.
Aizawa was pulled from his mental downward spiral by All Might sputtering.
"H-how do you know Midoriya is my successor? I haven't even told Gran Torino yet."
Percy deadpanned.
"You trained him on the beach," Percy said as if he were talking to a child. "You expected me to not know what was happening on a beach."
"I just thought you'd be too busy to notice," All Might said weakly.
If he hadn't been suffering from severe mental whiplash, Aizawa might have chuckled.
"Well if we are all done sharing closely guarded secrets, I'd say we call this meeting to a close," Nezu said happily, speaking for the first time in a while.
"Agreed," Percy said as he re-engaged his amour. "I have places to be."
Percy walked out the door, leaving a shell-shocked staff in his wake.
"He's a lot younger than I expected," A previously quiet Nemuri said.
"Right! I expected some old grizzled war vet, not someone who looks like they just graduated," Hizashi added.
"You two were unexpectedly quiet the entire time," Aizawa said as he prepared to get ready for class. "And you're seriously focusing on his age, not the information he revealed?
"When arguably the most powerful man in the world starts getting angry, I think it's in everyone's best interest to stay quiet," Nemuri said. "And honestly, I'm still trying to wrap my head around what he said, so forgive me for being a bit quiet."
"I mean the kid had All Might shaking like a little kid," Hizashi commented. "I can yell loud and he can summon tsunamis, I'm with Nemuri on this."
"Fair enough," Aizawa said with a shrug. "Now excuse me, I need to talk to the oaf."
Walking to where All Might stood, Aizawa grabbed his shoulder and forced him to turn around.
"You have some explaining to do."
Aizawa found great joy in the look of terror on his face.
The next chapter will be covering Midoriya's and Class 1-A's reactions to Percy.
'Til Next Time!
