Hi everyone. This is my take on the epilogue at the end of 02. I've created my own characters for the children of the DigiDestined, and changed some of the couples. At the time I started writing this (way back in 2007!) Digimon Tri, Last Evolution Kizuna weren't released so it won't follow/mention events that happened in those movies.

[02.09.23] - I'm currently in the process of rewriting earlier chapters as my writing seems to have improved over the years. This is giving me the chance to tweak little bits as well that I may have overlooked/made a mistake on etc and improve the general flow of the story. The main plots of each chapter will probably remain the same so there won't be any drastic changes. As of this date I've reposted chapter 1. Hope you enjoy the new version!

Digimon 2.5

Episode 1 "A Dream Come True"

.:Native Forest, File Island, Digital World:.

A gang of Gazimon surrounded herself and Agumon. They were standing in the middle of a clearing in the depths of the Native Forest…

Despite only being ten years old, Akira 'Dawn' Kamiya wasn't fazed. They were only rookies, and she was confident that her partner could handle them, even when outnumbered. Her messy brown hair blew slightly in the cool breeze as she remained still. Any suddenly movement might spark an attack from their enemies; and she wanted the first move. They must have strayed into the Gazimons' territory whilst trekking through the forest, as they had suddenly been ambushed without warning.

Agumon narrowed his eyes at the Gazimon standing in front of him. He moved his claws ever so slightly; preparing to attack once his partner gave the order.

Dawn's brown eyes slowly surveyed each one of the Gazimon before she smiled confidently. "Okay Agumon," she finally spoke calmly, shifting her feet a little. "Give them all you've got!" she ordered, pointing straight ahead.

Upon his partner's command, Agumon leapt forward. He pulled his arm back before unleashing his Claw Upper Cut attack at the Gazimon. Each strike sent every Gazimon it hit crashing to the ground before they had chance to launch their own attacks. Swipe after swipe, Agumon moved around the group; taking them all out with ease.

His partner grinned as her eyes fell upon the last remaining Gazimon that was now standing in front of them. "Just one more left, Agumon… think it's time we turned up the heat."

Agumon also grinned. He opened his mouth, preparing his Pepper Breath attack…

The lone Gazimon looked panicked, before he swiftly turned and began to run, heading for the darkness of the forest away from the clearing.

"Don't let him get away Agumon," Dawn demanded.

Gazimon jumped in between two tree trunks, his features now hidden in the shadows but the outline of his body still visible. He paused, on all fours before turning to look back at the human and her partner. As Dawn and Agumon approached, Gazimon's body then began to change; causing them to freeze. "Huh?"

The two friends looked confused as his body slowly began to morph into a much larger one... "What's happening?" Dawn wondered.

"Maybe he's digivolving…" Agumon said.

Once Gazimon had finished his transformation; they noticed he now resembled some type of wolf Digimon, with his yellow eyes glaring straight back at them whilst his features remained hidden in the shadows…

Dawn stepped back cautiously as the wolf Digimon snarled at her.

"Dawn…"

"Huh?" She could have sworn he had just said her name… how did he know her name? Just as the large Digimon was about to step out of the darkness and lunge towards her, everything then went black as she heard her name once more although it sounded more distant…

"Dawn!"

Her brown eyes then suddenly opened and she was met with the bright blue sky overheard. Slowly sitting up from the slouched position she now found herself in, she let out a long yawn and stretched her arms. Looking around it now dawned upon her that she was not in the Digital World, but now back in Daiba Park underneath the tree she had dozed off under earlier.

It had all been just another dream…

Dawn sighed as she slouched back against the tree. For a while now she had hoped those dreams would have eventually become a reality. All the stories her mother and father had told her ever since she could remember sounded so adventurous, and she was eagerly waiting for when it would be her turn. She was a DigiDestined; just like her parents… and so were her cousin, and the rest of her friends.

They had all been gifted their own Digivice and Digimon partners when they had reached the age of five, and now that Dawn was a little older she had started to believe there must have been a reason why. Their time in the Digital World must be coming soon…

"Dream about the Digital World again?"

Dawn looked up, and noticed her partner Agumon sitting in one of the tree branches above. They had come to the park earlier to play some soccer as Dawn wanted to take full advantage of the warm Saturday afternoon, and after playing for a few hours they had settled underneath the tree for a break. "I've been dreaming about it more lately… maybe it's trying to tell me something." She admitted.

Agumon jumped down from the tree and landed on the grass beside her. "Yeah, it's telling you that you think about it way too much." He teased.

Dawn shot him a look before she got to her feet, stretching again. "Hey, what's wrong with thinking about it? All those stories Mom and Dad told me sounded so cool. I'd love to have adventures like that; saving the Digital World from evil Digimon, leaping into battle… surely it's got to be our turn soon…" she sighed and bent down picking up her soccer ball. Walking away from the tree, she made her way up the small incline of the park towards the edge that looked out over Tokyo Bay and Odaiba. The park was an old battery island situated in the bay near to Rainbow Bridge. She sat back down on the grass, resting her soccer ball between her legs before gazing out across to her hometown. "There must have been a reason why we were made DigiDestined…" she thought aloud.

Agumon soon joined her, sitting down beside her. He watched as she unclipped her orange digivice from her belt, staring at it for a moment. "Maybe there is… but perhaps we should be a little careful what we wish for. You don't want to find yourself in serious trouble one day… despite your Aunt Kari telling you that 'trouble' is your middle name." he added teasingly. "Somehow I don't think the Digital World will be like in your dreams."

Dawn smiled slightly as she continued to stare down at he digivice. "I know… I just wish something would happen though. What's the point in being a DigiDestined if we never get the chance to protect the Digital World?" she complained. She then clipped her digivice back onto her belt before leaning back on her hands, looking back out over the bay.

.:File Island, Digital World:.

Way beneath the ground somewhere on File Island, a darkened dungeon was situated. The dungeon had been empty for many years, but recently the dozens of cells that were lined up either side of the main tunnel had started to become occupied. The occupants of the cells were hidden amongst the darkness. The only light in the dungeon's tunnels came from the small candles on the walls.

In one of the cells a lone Dracomon slowly paced back and fourth, until the sound of someone approaching caused him to stop. He looked up as a shadowy figure appeared in front of the bars of his cell. The rookie Digimon growled slightly and narrowed his eyes, stepping back further as the door to his cell slowly opened. Dracomon watched as the shadowy figure floated a little closer towards him. Sensing a moment to escape, he roared and tried to charge forward. But as he did, the figure raised his hand, suspending Dracomon in a dark aura a few inches from the ground. He growled and tried to move, but he was frozen.

The shadowy figure then moved even closer to him, and in his other hand, produced a small syringe from behind his back. The syringe was filled with dark data, with little round specks of dark red floating amongst it. With Dracomon suspended within the aura, the figure had no trouble injecting the syringe into the rookie's arm. Once the dark data had absorbed into Dracomon's body, the hooded figure stepped back; releasing him from the aura.

Dracomon collapsed into a heap on the ground before his body began to glow a dark red. He snarled, trying to fight whatever it was that had been injected into him, but it soon took hold; and his body began to change. He grew taller, and his tail grew longer. His small red wings fused onto his forearms, and the horns on his head grew longer and pointier. A large yellow 'X' appeared on his head; completing the transformation. The dragon Digimon growled under his breath as he kept his head down, adapting to his new form.

The hooded figure smiled. "Perfect."

.:Odaiba, Tokyo:.

The bell above the door of the FamilyMart convenience store rang as a young eleven year old girl stepped out carrying a shopping bag filled with groceries and a bouquet of flowers sticking out of the top. The girl had long thick brown hair and brown eyes, features that had a similar resemblance to her mother. It was now early evening, and the sun was starting to set in the distance.

As Shinju 'Margaret' Kimura turned the corner to make the short walk back to her apartment building down the street, she suddenly collided with someone who had been running in her direction. The force sent her falling back onto the ground, but she still managed to keep hold of her grocery bag. Pushing her large grey hat up that had slipped down over her eyes she looked up to see her cousin standing over her, smiling meekly, with Agumon by her side wearing his dark blue coat as a disguise, carrying her soccer ball. "Dawn!" she exclaimed a little irritated. "Watch where you're going," she got back to her feet, brushing her clothes down with her free hand.

"Sorry Maggie…" Dawn apologised, calling her cousin by the nickname she had given her since she was a toddler. "I didn't see you."

Margaret opened her bag, giving a quick check of her groceries to make sure nothing was damaged; especially the flowers. "Of course you wouldn't going at that speed... What's the rush anyway?"

"I was heading home when I suddenly remembered my Mom had asked me to bring back a bag of rice for dinner tonight." Dawn replied. "Wait there a second; I'll walk home with you."

Margaret watched as her younger cousin dashed into the FamilyMart, and after glancing at her watch, she smiled a little to herself. Her cousin was already running late for dinner and no doubt she would still get a talking to from her mother after arriving home late with the rice. A few moments later, Margaret heard the bell, and Dawn stepped outside now holding a bag of rice.

"Okay, let's go,"

The two girls and Agumon then began the short walk home. Margaret and her mother lived in the same apartment building as Margaret's grandparents, whilst Dawn lived in the apartment building opposite. Dawn glanced at her cousin, the bouquet of blue flowers having caught her eye. "Who are the flowers for?" she asked, but she then suddenly remembered what the date would be tomorrow. "Oh… yeah, sorry… I didn't damage them did I?"

Margaret shook her head. "No, they're fine…" she then fell silent for a moment. "Can you believe it's already been six years?"

Dawn didn't know quite what to say at first. Six years ago, Margaret's father had died in a car accident. Dawn had only been four years old when it happened, so she couldn't really remember much about her Uncle Tenchi; only a couple of memories of Christmas and a family vacation they had taken the summer before. "… Wow, really? That long?" she said honestly.

"Well, they are really pretty." Agumon spoke up, referring to the flowers.

Margaret smiled as they neared their apartment buildings. "Thanks Agumon," she said. They then turned and walked up the steps towards the apartment complex. "My Dad's favourite colour was blue. Aunt Sora actually recommended these. She really knows her stuff about flowers… maybe she could teach you a new hobby besides soccer." She added teasingly to her cousin.

Dawn scrunched her face up in disagreement. "No way," she retorted. "That's a girly hobby."

Margaret smiled as they reached the top of the steps. "Well, last time I checked you are a girl… but I did hear my Mom say once you are your father's daughter so it's no surprise you act more like a boy."

"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?" Dawn complained as they made their way towards the apartment complex, to which her cousin continued to giggle.

.:File Island, Digital World:.

In the mountainous region of File Island close to Infinity Mountain, a young man and a Centarumon were standing on one of the lower ledges of one of the smaller mountains. The area was dark and dreary, and had recently become a subject of interest for the young man Gennai…

"Is it time Gennai?" Centarumon asked, breaking the silence.

Gennai looked over the edge of the mountain ledge at the castle down below that he had been keeping an eye on for at least the past six months. The castle was huge and made of stone, situated at the foot of the mountain. It was surrounded by a tall brick wall, with two Orgemon X guarding the main gate. The castle had been abandoned for years, but had recently become occupied which what had captured Gennai's attention. The occupation of the castle had soon followed by some Digimon going missing and the rise of sightings of X Digimon on the island, and Gennai believed the two were connected. "It is time." He finally replied.

"Are you sure?" Centarumon asked. "The children have never experienced the Digital World before… they are not as experienced as their parents. Are you sure they will be ready for what they could face?"

"They'll be ready. Don't forget Centarumon; their parents were inexperienced when they first entered the Digital World, and look what they have done. It's time the children followed in their footsteps."

"But this threat could turn out to be a lot bigger than we initially suspect… wouldn't it be best just to let their parents handle it?" Centarumon said.

"The children need to learn to grow just like their parents did, as do their Digimon. They need to learn to protect the Digital World before it's too late; that's why I believe now is the time to call upon them." Gennai explained.

Centarumon cast a glance down to the castle below. "I hope you're right Gennai,"

"When have I ever been wrong?" Gennai humoured. He then sighed a little, returning his attention the castle. "I don't know who has occupied that castle; whoever it is has kept themselves hidden inside… but I have my suspicions." He admitted, causing Centarumon to glance curiously at him. "I've been hearing reports of Digimon going missing, and it can't be a coincidence that there have also been sightings of X Digimon all over the island as well."

"You think whoever has taken over that castle is turning the missing Digimon into X Digimon?" Centarumon asked.

Gennai nodded. "Yes. There must be a connection, I'm sure of it."

"Now that you mention it, I heard a rumour that a group of Rhinomon had disappeared in the Gear Savannah not long ago. They just disappeared without a trace."

Gennai frowned slightly. "I suspect whoever it is in that castle might be building up an army of X Digimon in preparation for something… what that something is though I'm not sure what yet…"

.:Izzy's Research Lab, Minato, Tokyo:.

Monday morning came, and Izzy entered his computer lab with Tentomon, with his laptop bag swung over his right shoulder. They were the first in the lab, as Haruhiko, Sora's father, and Jim, Joe's older brother, hadn't arrived yet. Izzy walked over to his computer desk, placing his laptop bag down in his chair before checking the computer to make sure the Digital World's readings were all okay, and nothing out of the ordinary had happened throughout the night.

After the events twenty five years ago, Izzy, Haruhiko and Jim had been hired by the government to research and keep a check on everything concerning the Digital World to prevent further attacks. Izzy had also teamed up with Gennai in creating a way to erase the memories of Digimon from all the non DigiDestined of the world so the Digital World would still remain a secret. The last thing Gennai wanted was humans interfering with the Digital World and causing problems. The gate to the Digital World had been closed for many years, but Izzy and his team were still able to keep track on the Digital World's data despite being unable to travel there.

"Everything looks okay," Izzy said after surveying the data on his screen. He then put on his grey lab coat before moving his laptop bag onto his desk so he could take a seat in front of his computer. "Although I do want to look more into that new data I discovered…" he thought aloud.

"The data on File Island?" Tentomon asked, to which his partner nodded. "Do you think something's wrong?"

"I'm not sure…" Izzy replied as he brought File Island's data up on the screen. "I need to research more into it to be certain." He began to type on his keyboard, and various pieces of data began to appear on the screen. "See, there; there's a new type of data that seems to be increasing slowly. I first noticed it a few weeks ago when I was going over File Island's data, but I'm not entirely sure what it is."

"You don't suspect it could be a type of virus or something?" Tentomon suggested.

"It's too early to make that conclusion Tentomon," Izzy replied as he continued to study the data. He then brought up a digital map of File Island, transferring the image onto the large touch screen on the wall before cross referencing it with the new data he had discovered. The data was represented by small dark red dots on the map; some were dotted randomly all over the island; but what caught Izzy's attention was the cluster of red dots in one particular area. "Hmm… that's interesting…" he thought aloud to himself, as Tentomon flew over beside him for a closer look. "There seems to be a cluster of that data there; near to Infinity Mountain…" he stepped up, touching the screen so he could zoom in on the map. "Looks like it's in the mountains… but then there are other locations of that data randomly scattered across the island; but the main mass of the data seems to be there… what's in those mountains that could be causing that?"

"That cluster of data must be what you first discovered," Tentomon said.

Izzy nodded in agreement. "Yeah… This is the first time I have cross referenced the data against the map so I had no idea there was a mass of it mostly confined to one place. This definitely needs looking into."

.:File Island, Digital World:.

In a darkened room, inside the castle that Gennai had been keeping watch on, a young girl was standing in the corner with her Digimon partner. Her partner was in his champion level form; resembling a large wolf.

They weren't alone; as a hooded figure was situated on the opposite side in the darkest part of the room. "I think you are now ready for your first challenge," he spoke cunningly.

The girl lifted her head up, looking over at figure across the room. She didn't know much about him, or what he truly looked like. The figure always wore a large black cloak with the hood up, covering his whole form. Sometimes she even wondered if he actually had a physical form as the cloak seemed to levitate off the ground. His feet were never visible, and he always seemed to glide across the ground when moving. "What do you mean?" she spoke quietly, a little afraid to ask.

"It's time to test your partner's strength,"

The young girl glanced to at her partner. He had remained at the champion level ever since they had first arrived in the Digital World, although since their arrival; he had taken on a very different form. "I thought he had passed all of your tests? All those Digimon he fought in your dungeon; he beat them all."

"I'm talking about a real challenge. Those fights were simply getting your partner ready for this moment… do you think you are both ready?"

The girl hesitated for a moment. "… I guess so… what do we have to do?"

.:Odaiba Elementary School, Odaiba, Tokyo:.

Dawn was currently sat at the back of her Math class. It was her least favourite subject, which made it easy for her attention to wander. She was slouched forward, with her chin resting in her palm half gazing out of the window; not paying the slightest bit of attention to what her teacher, Mrs Sato, was saying. After getting a little bored of staring out of the window, Dawn's attention then briefly shifted to the empty desk a few rows down from her own desk.

The desk usually belonged to Suteishi 'Stacey' Ishida, but for the last six months it had been empty. The ten year old had disappeared practically without a trace, except for her silver digivice that had been found in a nearby park. There had been talk throughout the school for the first few weeks; with some believing Stacey had run away. She had always been quiet and kept to herself, but shortly before she had disappeared she had seem to withdraw herself even more from everyone. "Something doesn't seem right… how could someone just disappear?" Dawn thought. Growing up the two hadn't exactly been good friends. Just like their fathers they often squabbled. The more Dawn thought about it maybe Stacey had run away… after all her Digimon partner Gabumon had disappeared along with her. As she continued to think about the Ishida girl, Dawn had failed to notice Mrs Sato had stopped talking and was now looking in her direction.

Sitting next to her was her best friend Danjuro 'Dan' Motomiya. He was almost the spitting image of his father, except for the blue eyes he inherited from his mother. His messy maroon hair was being held up by the old goggles his father used to wear. Noticing the teacher's attention was now on his best friend, Dan faked a cough to try and get her attention. It had failed, as the Kamiya girl continued to stare at the empty desk. "Dawn." He said sharply under his breath.

"Miss Kamiya," Mrs Sato finally said a little loudly, which worked in breaking the young girl from her thoughts. "Would you mind repeating what I just said?"

Dawn froze, now realising the whole class's attention was on her. She laughed a little nervously. "Umm…. Something about Math?" she grinned sheepishly, which resulted in the class breaking into slight laughter.

Mrs Sato sighed. "You're just like your father," she said. "Always have to be the joker of the class." She then turned back to the white board and began writing down the next equation. "You should really start thinking about paying attention Dawn. Your grades are low, and if they don't start to improve I may have to put your name forward for summer school this year."

Dawn slouched down in her chair, frowning at Mrs Sato who still had her back to the class as she continued to write. Summer was her favourite time of the year, and there was no way she was going to spend it in school. Her attention on Mrs Sato didn't last long, as a faint rumble of thunder outside brought her back to the window. Dark clouds had begun to form in the distance, which Dawn thought was a little strange as the sun had been shining and the sky had been clear only moments ago. Another rumble of thunder caused Dawn to sink down a little in her chair. She had been terrified of thunderstorms when she had been a baby, but although she wasn't as scared of them now, she still felt a little uneasy during them, although she tried not to show it…

.:Izzy's Research Lab, Minato, Tokyo:.

Later that afternoon, the storm had spread across most of the Minato and Odaiba area of Tokyo. The sun had long disappeared behind the grey clouds and rain had been pouring down for the last few hours. Outside on the street, a young eleven year old boy ran down the sidewalk from where he had left the train station further up the road. Reaching the government building where Izzy's research lab was located, he dashed inside, eager to get out of the rain.

Jonasan 'Jonathon' Izumi removed the hood from his jacket and ran a hand through his black hair as he headed down towards the door to his father's lab. He often came to the lab after school, as he loved learning more about the Digital World. Like his father, he had a keen interest in computers. He was very intelligent for his age; something he inherited from both his parents. Upon reaching the door, he typed in the pass code on the touch screen digi lock and stepped inside once the door had opened. As he walked in, he could hear his father speaking.

"I've definitely confirmed the data is in some of the Digimon, and not in File Island's data itself,"

Jonathon looked up as he removed his school bag and jacket, noticing his father speaking with Haruhiko Takenouchi and Jim Kido. All three men were standing in front of the large screen with their backs to the door. Hanging up his bag and jacket on the coat hook beside the door, Jonathon walked over; a little eager to hear what they were discussing.

"Well I guess that's some relief that File Island's data isn't corrupted," Jim said.

"But we don't know for certain if the data found in those Digimon is corrupted…" Haruhiko added. "It could be harmless, but then it could be a virus which is spreading throughout the Digimon which would explain why it's been increasing."

Jonathon, a little concerned over the mention of a virus, stopped just behind his father. He peeked at the large screen which was still showing the map of File Island. His eyes were immediately drawn to the cluster of red dots. "What's that?" he spoke up, alerting the three men to his presence.

A little startled as he had been deep in thought, Izzy looked over his shoulder. "Oh hi Jonathon. I didn't hear you come in." he greeted. "Uh, it's nothing you need to worry about son… just some data anomaly we are trying to work out."

Jonathon glanced at the screen again. "A virus?"

"That's not been confirmed yet," Izzy assured him. "It's still early in our research."

"But the good news is whatever this data is it isn't in File Island's data, so the Digital World itself should remain stable." Jim explained.

"For now," Tentomon added a little dryly, to which Izzy gave him a look.

The young boy continued to study the map, and he began to wonder what File Island was truly like. All he had ever seen were maps and old photos. "It would be easier for you to look into if you could actually go to the Digital World." He commented.

Izzy sighed a little in agreement. "I know, we would be able to visit that site and see for ourselves what's causing that anomaly. But unless the gates reopen there's nothing we can do."

Just then, the lights flickered a little and the computer system seemed to dim as a rumble of thunder could be heard outside. "Sounds like that storm is really picking up out there…" Tentomon said.

.:Kamiya Apartment, Odaiba, Tokyo:.

Another flash of lightening filled the sky which was then quickly followed by the booming thunder. Dawn's Agumon was standing with his face pressed up against the balcony doors, watching the rain lash down. "I don't know about you guys but I feel like something's not right here…" he said.

"What do you mean?" Biyomon asked, standing beside Tai's Agumon. "It's just a thunderstorm isn't it?"

"I dunno…" the younger Agumon said. "I just have a feeling something strange is going to happen…"

Agumon and Biyomon both glanced at each other, both wondering if the younger rookie had a point. The storm had seemingly come out of nowhere, and the forecast that morning had predicted clear skies… Their attention was then briefly averted from the storm as they heard the front door open.

Sora entered the apartment, arriving home from work. "Hey, I'm home." She called as she removed her jacket. She walked down the hall and into the living room to see the three Digimon near the balcony doors. "What's going on?" she asked, slightly curious as to why they were all standing by the balcony.

"Agumon's got a feeling something strange is going to happen," her husband's Digimon replied.

"Strange?" Sora repeated with a little laugh. "Unless the apartment gets flooded or something what else can happen during a thunderstorm?" she joked.

The younger Agumon frowned. "Hey, I just have a gut feeling something's going to happen." He protested.

"Maybe you're just hungry." Biyomon teased.

Sora smiled, before she glanced around the apartment; noticing her husband was absent. "Where's Tai?"

"After Dawn didn't take your advice this morning about taking her jacket, Tai thought he better go pick her up from school." Biyomon answered.

Sora was about to respond when she heard the front door open behind her. She turned around to see her husband and daughter walk in; one considerably wetter than the other…

As Tai removed his jacket, Dawn kicked off her shoes and dumped her school bag down beside the coat rack; her hair and clothes soaked through. She headed into the apartment, but stopped when she looked up to see her mother giving her an 'I told you so' look regarding their conversation earlier that morning. "I didn't know it was going to rain, did I?" Dawn protested before her mother had chance to say anything.

"Well maybe next time you'll listen to your mother, kiddo." Tai said as he walked past her, giving her hair a playful ruffle, to which Dawn frowned in response.

"And, perhaps you'll listen to me now when I say you better change out of those wet clothes before you catch a cold," Sora humoured.

"Alright, I'm going." Dawn continued to frown as she walked past her parents and towards her bedroom.

Before she made it to her bedroom door, there was an almighty flash as the sky was filled with streaks of lightning followed by a loud bang of thunder. The lights flickered before going off completely, before the rest of the city was plunged into darkness as the power cut spread…

All three digivices then began to buzz, and their screens flashed rapidly. Tai unclipped his digivice from his belt. "Uhh… What's going on here?"

.:Izzy's Research Lab, Minato, Tokyo:.

The power cut had also reached Izzy's lab and everything shut down, but it only lasted for a few moments before the back up generators kicked in and restored the power; turning all the computer systems back on. But once the system was back online, an alarm began to sound throughout the lab and a map of Odaiba automatically popped up on the large screen over the top of the map of File Island. One the map was a small pulsating blue dot.

"The Digimon Detection System…" Izzy gasped, a little surprised. "There's a Digimon here…"

"How can that be?" Haruhiko questioned as Izzy sat down at his computer desk. "The gates have been closed for years."

Jonathon watched his father as he began to work on his computer. "Could it have something to do with that big flash of lightning just now?" he suggested.

"It's possible…" Izzy replied as he brought up a portal on his screen. "The gates are still closed…" he then brought up another data file. "But there's been a tear in the barrier between both worlds…"

"That's not good," Tentomon spoke up. "More Digimon could pass through into Tokyo if there's a breach in the barrier."

"Can you fix it Dad?" Jonathon asked.

"I'm not sure," Izzy said with a sigh. "I've never had to repair the barrier before… this could be something out of my control."

Jim, who was still standing in front of the large screen, zoomed in on the map of Odaiba. "The Digimon is at Zepp Tokyo." He said, glancing back to look at Izzy.

.:Kamiya Apartment, Odaiba, Tokyo:.

Sora had found a torch in one of the cupboards. The apartment was dark, with only a little natural light coming from outside. The thunderstorm had seemed to have now stopped, but the rain continued to fall. "Perhaps this is that strange feeling you were having, Agumon." She said as she shone the torch around the living room. "Huh?" she then noticed the screen on her digivice was still flashing, but this time it was just flashing steady like a beacon.

"Hey, my digivice is picking up a Digimon reading," her husband said, looking at his own digivice that was flashing just the same.

"Mine too…Does that mean there's a Digimon somewhere in Odaiba?" Sora said.

Dawn grinned, holding her orange digivice which was flashing as well showing the same Digimon reading.

"There must be." Tai turned to his partner. "Ready for a little battle Agumon?" he said with a grin.

"You bet!" Agumon replied also grinning. "After all these years I was starting to feel a little rusty."

"Be careful Tai," Sora said, placing a hand on his shoulder just as he turned to head for the door. "It might be a little dangerous out there during this weather."

Tai smiled and gave his wife a quick peck on the lips. "Don't worry; we'll be fine. This shouldn't take long. By the looks of it the Digimon is at Zepp Tokyo." He reassured as he clipped his digivice back on his belt.

"Alright! Let's go Agumon!" Dawn grinned excitedly to her partner. She bolted for the front door, but she didn't get far as she was pulled back by her father grabbing the back of her t shirt.

"Hold it right there. You're not going anywhere." Tai told her, pulling her back gently.

"What? Why?" Dawn exclaimed looking up at her father as he walked past her. "Me and Agumon can help fight-"

"No,"

"But Daaaad-" Dawn began to complain.

"Don't argue Dawn, you're staying here." Her father said firmly as he and Agumon headed towards the front door.

Dawn frowned in frustration as she watched her father and Agumon leave the apartment. This was her and Agumon's chance to have a fight with a real Digimon yet she was being told to stay at home? Why wasn't her father letting her go with him? She was a DigiDestined too.

Sora looked down to see her daughter glance up at her with an almost pleading look. "Don't look at me," she said just as firmly. "If your father said no then it's still no."

Tai's cell phone began to ring. Having left in a bit of a hurry he had forgotten to pick it up from the breakfast bar where he had left it earlier.

Dawn stomped her foot a little before turning and heading for her bedroom. Before she reached her door, she glanced behind to see her mother pick up Tai's cell phone, answering the call.

"Hi Izzy," Sora greeted. "No, he just left."

Dawn watched her mother for a moment, guessing from the conversation she was having that was it regarding the Digimon reading on their digivices. Biyomon was currently watching the rain continue to fall outside, and her mother still had her back to her… Sensing an opportunity to sneak out, Dawn tapped her partner on his shoulder; motioning him to follow her. They both quietly made their way down the hall, and after Dawn slipped on her sneakers and grabbed her dark red jacket, she slowly opened the front door just wide enough for them both to squeeze through and out…

.:Zepp Tokyo, Odaiba, Tokyo:.

Over at Zepp Tokyo, Tai and Agumon had just arrived. They were standing outside the main entrance to the nightclub, which was empty as the nightclub was usually closed on a Monday evening. "Where is it?" Tai wondered, looking at his digivice. According to the signal they were right on top of it, but they couldn't see anyone.

"The Digimon must be around here somewhere," Agumon added also looking around.

But unknown to the two friends, they weren't alone. Standing just above the Zepp Tokyo sign on the roof of the building, the young girl and her champion level Digimon were watching them. The girl's outfit concealed most of her features. She wore a pair of shades over her eyes, and her hair was mostly covered by a grey beanie hat, but a few spiky blonde strands were sticking out, covering her right eye. Her white t-shirt with a black stripe running horizontally across the chest was tucked into her black jeans, and her long night sky blue jacket blew slightly in the wind that had started to ease. She continued to watch Tai and Agumon down below for a few moments before she exhaled slowly, stretching her arm out; signalling for her partner to attack.

Her partner grunted approvingly before he leapt off the roof and down towards the unsuspecting friends below…

Tai sighed, still looking at his digivice. "I can't see anything Agumon. Maybe the digivices are faulty-"

Agumon happened to glance above them, and he suddenly gasped. "Look out Tai!" he pushed Tai out of the way just in time as the Digimon landed on the ground where they had been standing.

Tai landed with a splash in a large puddle. "… Thanks a lot, Agumon." He groaned, sitting up with water dripping from his body.

"Thank me later," Agumon replied, standing protectively in front of him. "Right now I think we've found who we were looking for,"

Tai looked ahead to see the Digimon now standing in front of them, growling menacingly. The Digimon was covered in thick light blue fur with blue markings on the front of his face. He had large metal spikes sticking out of his back, and his long tail swished behind him. "He looks a little like Garurumon.." Tai thought to himself.

Dawn and her own Agumon hadn't been too far behind and had just arrived at Zepp Tokyo. They were peering out from behind the corner of the building watching what was happening. Dawn took hold of her digivice and held it up aiming it towards the mysterious Digimon before pressing the top button. The digivice scanned the Digimon's data before supplying the data through a holographic image. "Garurumon X…" Dawn muttered under her breath. "He's a champion level Digimon."

"I've never seen an X Digimon before," Agumon said quietly as the two friends watched on from behind the wall.

As Dawn continued to study the image of Garurumon X on her digivice; she suddenly gasped under her breath as she realised something… Garurumon X looked just like the Digimon she had seen in her dream the other day when she had fallen asleep at the park… although she hadn't seen his features in her dream, his body shape was strikingly similar.

"Pepper Breath!" Tai's Agumon spat out his small fire ball, but it simply fizzled out against the champion's body.

Garurumon X growled under his breath, glancing at his shoulder where the attack had tickled him. He took a couple of steps back before lunging towards them. But as he was in midair about to pounce on them, someone tackled him from the side. He crashed to the ground, rolling over a few times before slumping in a heap as whoever had tackled him jumped off.

The young girl gasped under her breath as she noticed who had now joined the fight. She took a couple of steps back away from the edge of the roof.

"Hey Tai!"

Tai, who was still sitting in the puddle, turned to look to his right to see a familiar figure running towards him dressed in a black rain coat. "Hey Matt," he greeted.

Matt helped him to his feet. "I got an alert from my digivice saying there was a Digimon nearby. Looks like you and Agumon could use some help." He said light-heartedly.

Tai smiled. "Hey, me and Agumon are just warming up…" He replied, grasping his digivice in his hand. "Ready Agumon?" he turned to his partner, holding his digivice up that began to glow…

"AGUMON DIGIVOLVE TO… GREYMON!"

Dawn watched in awe as her father's Digimon transformed from his rookie form into the huge dinosaur Greymon. "Wow…" she grinned. She had never seen a Digimon digivolve before…

Garurumon X smiled a little slyly as he watched Garurumon position himself behind him. He had a suspicion what they were going to do, and he prepared himself for their predictable move.

"Nova Blast!"

"Howling Blaster!"

As is of cue, the two Digimon both released their signature attacks in unison. Garurumon X timed his move perfectly and leapt clear out of the way allowing the attacks to sail past him. Greymon's Nova Blast struck Garurumon head on whilst Garurumon's Howling Blaster hit Greymon in the chest. Both Digimon fell backwards onto the wet ground. "Kaiser Nail!" Garurumon X pounced on top of Greymon, slicing his sharp claws into the dinosaur.

Garurumon sprinted to his friend's aid as Greymon let out an agonising roar. He jumped up and opened his jaw, sinking his teeth into Garurumon X's back.

The X Digimon cringed in pain and swiped his claws, but Garurumon jumped back just in time, resulting in him swiping through thin air.

"Howling Blaster!" Garurumon unleashed his ice beam attack once more, this time hitting its target sending Garurumon X sliding back across the ground.

Garurumon X soon got to his feet and launched himself at Garurumon. Both wolf Digimon began scratching and biting each other any way possible. Garurumon jumped backwards and waited for Garurumon X to pounce. As he did, Garurumon lifted his two back legs up and kicked his foe square in the stomach.

Dawn and Agumon continued to watch on. She had an incredible urge to join the fight. But she knew if she did her father would obviously know she was there, and she would probably be grounded for the rest of the week for disobeying him. She knew she had to head back home as well before her mother noticed she was missing too.

After another attack from Garurumon, Garurumon X crashed painfully on the ground and landed in one of the puddles. Greymon made his move and grasped a hold of the wolf's tail and swung him around twice before slamming him against the wall of the nightclub. The building shook from the contact and the blonde girl on top almost lost her balance. She carefully stepped towards the edge and glanced down. Garurumon X had fallen limp on the ground, obviously wounded from that last attack. He shakily got to his feet, limping on his left front paw, which had been wounded when Garurumon had bitten it earlier.

"Alright, looks like we've got him now." Tai smiled.

"Finish him off Garurumon," Matt added.

The girl sighed to herself. She decided that was enough, and she wasn't going to stand around and watch her partner get hurt any longer. If something happened to him then she would truly be alone… Holding a digivice up that looked very similar to Dawn's except it was all black, she pressed a couple of buttons before it buzzed twice.

As Greymon and Garurumon closed in on Garurumon X, a large bolt of lightning suddenly struck the ground, causing a shockwave to engulf the area. Everyone was thrown back onto the ground from the force of the shockwave, whilst Dawn and Agumon quickly ducked behind the wall for cover.

Once the dust from the impact of the lightning bolt had lifted, Tai looked up to see their partners had de-digivolved back into their rookie forms, lying on the ground. Noticing Garurumon X was now nowhere to be seen, he searched the area before finally spotting the X Digimon back on top of the roof of the nightclub… and that's when he spotted the young girl next to him. "Hey!" he suddenly exclaimed, jumping to his feet. "Who are you?"

The girl gasped and stepped back. She quickly pressed another button on her digivice before holding it up to the sky.

Matt, who was just sitting up rubbing his head, glanced up to where Tai was currently looking. He gasped under his breath when he saw the young girl standing on the roof, but he couldn't make out her features…

Thunder rumbled in the sky above, causing Dawn to flinch a little uneasy. She looked up to the sky, noticing the clouds were starting to split. Behind the clouds was a black dimension. "What's that?" she thought aloud. She watched as a beam of light shone out from within the dimension and engulfed the girl and Garurumon X. The light slowly began to lift them up and towards the dimension in the sky.

Matt suddenly snapped out of his thoughts. "Wait, Come back!" he shouted as he bolted forward a little, but his shout went unheard as the girl and Garurumon X floated higher and higher away from them.

Once they had disappeared through the dimension, the light faded and the clouds returned to the earlier position. Tai, Matt and their Digimon continued to look up at where the girl had been standing on the roof as the rain continued to fall.

Gabumon slowly walked closer to his partner, who was still staring up at the sky. He had a feeling he knew what the blonde haired man was thinking. "… Who was that?" he asked a little shakily; a little afraid of what the answer might be.

Matt didn't respond. He just continued to stare up at the sky. "A girl… with a Garurumon X… it couldn't possibly have been…?"

Over by the corner of the building, Dawn was also still staring up at the sky. Was that the way into the Digital World?

To be continued…
