The return of Klatu
Chapter Four
Helen Benson drove her blue Audi Volkswagen to the Pentagon's main gate. She had been summoned by General John Lewis. She had no idea what this particular was all about. She had changed into a blue flowery knee-high dress with black slip-on shoes for comfort.
She had stopped at the main gate showing having to be pulling out her I.D., she had been working part-time for the General as a favor during the last five years. She was more worried about her son Robert and his men heading for the Gaza region to help with retrieving the hostages.
She stopped at the gate before being told by the young female officer that she was able to head for the General's office.
She had taken a deep breath while driving off to section C only ten minutes away from the main gate. Helen looked up at the security jets flying over the Pentagon as part of a special exercise. There was a possible chance that these jets and the officers flying them would be heading for the Gaza section.
She headed off...
GENERAL JOHN LEWIS OFFICE...
General Lewis and his aide Melanie had been waiting for Helen Benson to arrive at his office. There was a great deal to tell her with the news they had for her.
Shaking his white hair with placing a hand behind his neck. He will say to Melanie as she looks up from her computer to finish up with her notes given to her by the general.
She looked up at the general concerned mostly..."Are you alright, sir?" she asked needing to take a sip of cold water from the clear pitcher.
He shakes his head slightly before looking over at his aide working for him for the psst six years. "I really don't know about this with the latest transmission received from Andromeda. I just hope to god this doesn't turn into a war with the galaxy police force." he exhaled...
"I know what you mean, general. Maybe Klatu will be able to help us out? Receiving that other message from Klatu telling you and the president of the United States that he's coming here to live in peace." she advised him while finishing up the last of her cold water.
Meanwhile...
Helen Benson had arrived on the main level of 16 while wearing her pass. She had gotten out of the elevator filled with employees and security officers. She stopped off at the security desk with the main officer in his fifties looking up from his computer.
Colonel Anthony Morris aged 56 years old will ask Mrs. Benson for her reason for being here in the first place.
Nervous slightly...
"I am here to see General John Lewis. I have been summoned to his office for some reason Colonel," she advised with a slight smile showing on her features.
"One moment while I advised him that you've arrived Mrs. Benson. I have the information on my computer screen that been asked to come here to see the general.
Colonel Anthony Morris decided to escort Mrs. Benson to the General's office instead of having someone else. He will let his partner Jeremy tell him that he's going to be back in 15 minutes to please take over the desk.
"Thank you, Colonel, for escorting me to the General's office." she quipped feeling somewhat out of sorts.
Taking a few moments to reach the general's main offices with everyone busy elsewhere with their work in the main building and off the grounds.
When they reached the main office to were stopped by another security officer with Mrs. Benson and the General to show their I.D.'S. Sergeant Jack Tripper working on the job for the last ten years smiling slightly.
He was able to confirm the General and Mrs. Benson before letting them both inside the double doors and the main conference office.
A moment later the Colonel was standing outside, while Mrs. Benson walked in to be greeted by the General telling her to sit with his aide Patricia asking whether she wanted a drink of water, coffee, or tea. She decided on a cup of tea for now with a drink.
General Lewis will say the following to Mrs. Benson...
"Helen, I have something important to tell you when it comes to your old friend Klatu," he advised with a low tone in his voice.
This shocked her since she had not thought about him for a long time. She shifted in her wooden chair taking a quick sip of her hot green tea from Patricia.
What about Klatu, General Lewis?" she tells him with mixed emotions.
"I have been advised by the White House communications that the Washington D.C. Observatory had received a long-range transmission from Andromeda from Klatu and his military friends." General Lewis watched for a reaction from Helen to see that she was frozen in place.
After a few moments, she will say the following..."What did Klatu have to say, General Lewis?" she murmured with her tone. She took another sip of the green tea while Patricia brought up the transmission on her Microsoft computer to have her listen to it.
She will begin to hear his voice with Klatu saying that he was heading for Earth to talk with Mrs. Benson and hopefully, she will be able to accept him for who or what he is mostly. He tells her and those in the conference room that he is going to reach Planet Earth in four-plus months. This is when there is silence in the room with Mrs. Benson unable to completely understand as to why he's telling her this in the first place.
General Lewis will say the following to the woman unable to understand. "I do hope Helen that you're able to understand that Klatu is coming back to Earth for you?" he advised with a stern tone of voice.
"A little general after 20 years," she replied. "Now what do we do General Lewis?" she just had to ask the importance of the question.
Turning to face her..."Now we wait Helen." he said to have Helen squirm in her seat...
