The day the Earth stood still
The return of Klatu
Chapter Eight
General John Lewis had been in a predicament at the moment with seeing the bleeps on the main screen. His command staff were running to their stations as the klaxons continued. Take a long look at the information on the computer screen.
After a brief moment...
He needed to make a decision with needing to speak to the president of the United States in order to use the missiles to be rid of the bleeps on the screen.
Picking up the red phone near him and his console. He was able to make contact with the president directly...
"Sir, we have bleeps on the screen that may be dangerous for the entire Eastern coast Mr. President." General Lewis will announce to the voice over the red phone.
President Biden had been listening to the general while his military aides were in his office already on the phones. "John, you know we need to be careful with this alert. I won't give the order at the moment to send out those missiles," he announced over the phone.
"Are you sure about this Mr. President?" he shouted out to have everyone around him hear the outburst.
President Biden looked at his top aide with a shake of his head. "Yeah, I am sure John. I will order the Washington D.C. base to send out the jets. They will be ordered to scan the area unless provoked. Understand me?" he says in a strong tone of voice to scare the general for the moment.
"Very well, sir. The command center will be sure to keep an eye out on the main screen will the jets will be in the region." General Lewis exhales after hanging up the phone.
He turns to face his employees to say the following. Sergeant Andrews moved up from his console connected to the satellite system. "I just don't know about this General," he announced with a slight slur on the side of his right side of his face.
General Lewis was pissed as hell. He turned to face the 47-year-old pointing a finger at him. "I don't give a damn Andrews. It's up to the president to make the decisions since he's the commander and chief of the United States." he voiced his opinion with a loud tone.
"Just fine!" Sergeant Andrew cried out while working on his console as with the rest of the team.
MEANWHILE...
Washington, D.C. Air Force base
Alerts were going off on the base with eight jets with possible speeds of Mach three had been dispatched to the area of the bleeps.
Captain Jemeny Cobbs was concerned while moving into the cockpit since he was alone. His entire team was picked to head to the region. His orders were to investigate without having to fire a weapon. Colonel Cobbs had just gotten back from his honeymoon after two weeks in Hawaii with his bride June.
He always hated investigations like these just scare him for the likes for the most part. He called the tower while his team Major Samuels had finished with his checklist before Cobbs advised him that they had final clearance to take off...
"Already everyone let's do this right," Cobbs announced over the scanner and the radio in front of him. His breathing was erratic before his heart was able to settle down.
Captain Jemeny Cobbs had been in the Air Force and a flyer for the past ten years. His wife June as well is a class two flyer on the same base. Currently, she is home with her sister Melanie having dinner.
MOMENTS LATER...
All eight jets were speeding across the White House and other monuments in Washington, D.C...Meanwhile, the bleeps were back onto the screen at the Command Center and others across the Eastern coast.
Four spacecrafts moved quickly towards Maine with the eight jets reaching them within ten minutes. Captain Cobbs was able to see them but was at a loss for the moment. He advised his officers to stand clear while taking photos of the crafts to bring back to the base and those involved...
All of a sudden there was an explosion a mile away from them. It was the four spacecraft that had to be destroyed by some unknown force.
Covering his eyes...Captain Jemeny Cobbs will say the following. "Jesus Christ! What the hell happened?" he cried out.
