Apparently this has been sitting in my google docs since high school, and I've only just now realized it exists. I read it over and corrected somethings as well as added on to it. The story is told in Dark's P.O.V.
A Lesson For Dark
I always thought annoying Astral and Dark Mist was fun. That is, until one day they decided to teach me a lesson. I had annoyed Astral the week before and Dark Mist the week before that. Now the weekend has rolled back around and I was excited again to annoy Astral and the other residents of the key. I went into the key to see all of my counterparts and Dark Mist's counterparts were there. I walked over and sat on Astral's bed, I watched him turn a page in the book he was reading. I smirked, I bet he knew I was coming to annoy him again.
"Astral," I said to get his attention.
He didn't answer me. I expected this to happen, Astral would try to ignore me as best as he could until he couldn't take it anymore and yelled at me to go away. My smirk widened a little more, and I called Astral's name again to get his attention.
"Astral, I've come to bug you again."
"Did you hear something Dark Mist?" Astral asks as he turns to look at Dark Mist.
"Nope." Dark Mist replies with a smile.
I started to become annoyed, Astral would have asked me what I wanted by now and he didn't. I could tell that Astral was smiling behind the book that was covering his face. The others didn't even seem to notice that I had even said anything. I called Astral's name to get his attention again. I couldn't believe how he answered.
"Did someone mess with one of the gears, they sound off for some reason?" Astral asks the others.
"No." Everyone else responds.
'I don't get it, why is everyone ignoring me?' I thought to myself
I tried getting everyone else's attention, but they started to agree with Astral that the gears of the airship sounded a bit off. It angered and annoyed me. All I wanted to do is have a little fun, but no one paid attention to me. Everyone was acting as if they couldn't hear me when I was right here in front of them, as if I don't even exist.
"Is there any particular reason why you're all ignoring me?" I ask them.
"Maybe." Astral says with a small smile as he turns a page in his book.
I was kind of surprised that even answered me, but maybe this was payback. It's happened before but not like this.
"What, is this payback for last week?" I ask him and poke his leg with a small smile.
"What do you think?" He replies back to me in a somewhat uncaring tone.
I kept poking his leg because I had nothing better to do, but Astral kicks me softly to say stop poking me. Of course I kept doing it until he kicked me harder, I guess I deserved that.
"Hey does anyone want to go out?"
"The gears are sounding off again." The good version of me says in a bored tone.
I felt annoyed again, they were all ignoring me and acting like I don't exist. But I know how to be a pain in the ass, and that's the one thing I'm great at. So, I started calling Astral's name over, and over, and over, and over again. Still, there was no reaction.
With a huff and a pout, I moved on to Dark Mist and poked him in the arm. There was once again no reaction of course, but I didn't give up! There's no way they're just going to ignore me like I don't even exist, like I'm nothing! So, I kept calling their names, poking them in the arm, trying to get their attention, but unlike every other time, all anyone said was that a wind was poking them or that the gears really sounded off.
Deflated but not in the surrendering mood, I decided to take this ignoring me thing to my advantage. Surely, no one would even think to check on me while I ran around trying to get their attention! After scurrying around the ship for a while, I came to the Number Wall. I thought about stealing a Number or two, maybe that will get their attention. But then decided against it and huff in frustration. All I wanted was a little bit of fun, but instead I'm being ignored by everyone as if I don't exist.
"You don't have to annoy others to get attention Dark." A somewhat deep voice says to me, it's coming from the Number Wall.
"Then what am I suppose to do to get noticed around here?" I reply a bit snappy.
"Simple," the voice says, as a light yellow orb comes out of the Number Wall and takes on the form of Number 39: Utopia. "You just have to connect with them in other ways. Like dueling or going for a walk around the city for example. Perhaps you could start a book club amongst the others, see what they like to read."
"Do comics count as books?"
"Of course they do. Just think about it, the others will want to talk to you about the comic. And you guys can come up with new idea for a new comic inspired by the one you're reading."
"Yeah, that actually sounds a lot more fun than getting yelled and called a pest.
"Go and give it a shot." Utopia says with a smile, and gently pushes me away from the wall. Encouraging me to go to the others and bring this idea up.
With newfound confidence I race off to go and find the others to tell them of this idea. I didn't know it at the time, but Astral was watching me and Utopia talk and was pleased to see that I had found a different way of getting attention. One where I didn't have to be a pest to get noticed. And yes, my comic book got the others talking. Thanks to Utopia I learned that I don't have to get on another person's nerves to be noticed by them, I just have to ask about their likes and dislikes.
I know it wasn't that long but I don't think I originally wanted it to be. Anyway, what did you guys think of it? if there's anything I can improve on? It would be much appreciated for some feedback.
