Kuoh Academy. A school that was once all-female before it changed a year prior to today. Around the main building showed numerous students chatting among one another casually talking about life either related to school or everyday life, giving off a warm atmosphere.
At the front entrance, stood a young man with dark skin and short black hair with sky blue eyes. He was wearing the traditional uniform but without the blazer leaving his arms a little exposed. He was feeling very nervous, why, you may ask, well who else wouldn't be nervous to a new school and had to interact with new people?
"This is gonna be tough." He told himself as he stared at the main building in front of him. His guardian had gone ahead and enrolled him into school but he never knew why this one in particular. They said that it would make his life a little more interesting, not that it was important. At least that's what he thought. Taking a deep breath, he started walking towards the building and had a map in his hand aiming for his destination. "Ok, so… how do I get to the principal's office?"
After searching through the map and finding himself lost for five minutes, the boy finally found the principal's office as he was now standing in front of the door. Raising his hand, he knocked twice on the door.
"Excuse me, hello?"
"Come right in." A voice muffled from behind the door. Opening the door, the boy found himself face to face with a male that he could guess was in their mid-30s with long red hair and light blue eyes. "Good morning you must be the new student that I was told about. I am the administrator of Kuoh Academy, Zeoticus Gremory." He introduced himself as he gave him a bow.
The boy tilted his head as he inspected the administrator's hair.
'Dang, this guy got bright crimson hair. For some reason, just looking at it makes me think of lava.' He thought to himself as Zeoticus stared at him.
"How can I can help you?"
Hearing the older male speak brought the boy out of his thoughts as he spoke.
"Right, sorry sir. My name is Itsuki Yurei. I'm uh…here to pick up my schedule and find out where to go." The young man now named Itsuki informed.
"Itsuki, what a peculiar name you got there." Zeoticus chuckled as he walked over to a set of drawers and pulled one out showing off numerous folders going in alphabetical order. "Now let's see… here we are." Zeoticus pulled out the folder and went onto the computer. As he was doing this Itsuki looked around the room as he was waiting for his schedule, after a few more seconds he heard a printer go off and looked over to the desk.
"Here you go. These are the papers you need for your class." Zeoticus handed him two pieces of paper.
"Okay, homeroom teacher Glynda Goodwitch." Itsuki said aloud as he read the paper. "And these are the rest of my classes, okay wait what about this one?" he asked as he held out the second paper.
"Oh, that's for us actually. Just to let your homeroom teacher, the nurse and other staff know if you have any allergies, medical conditions, anything that may affect your health." Zeoticus explained.
"Oh, okay. Thank you for your help, Gremory-san." Itsuki thanked as he gave the teacher a bow earning a chuckle from the latter.
"It was my pleasure, now run along, you don't want to be late to your first class now do you?" He joked as the student looked up and noticed that he had five minutes to get to his class.
"Ah crud! You're right! Gotta go, thank you sir!" Itsuki shouted as he suddenly vanished from the office, running to his first class.
Zeoticus chuckled once again, "I can tell that kid is going to make things a bit more exciting around here."
Itsuki was panting as he stood at the door to his classroom 2-B. He would be more nervous about it if he wasn't out of breath, not to mention saying excusing himself and apologizing repeatedly as he passed through the other students.
"I made it *pant* just *pant* in time." Eco was looking up at the door and was about to grab the handle before a voice called out to him.
"Are you alright young man?" Turning his head, he saw a woman enter his view. He came face to face with a middle-aged blonde woman with a voluptuous figure as she was wearing a white long-sleeved blouse with a black high-waisted pencil skirt with black-brown stockings and black boots with heels. She was also wearing glasses showing her bright green eyes and had her hair styled in a bun.
"Um… yes ma'am." Itsuki answered while fixing his clothes.
"Why were you running in the hallways, you do know that is very dangerous in case you could hurt someone or yourself?" The blonde teacher asked in a stern tone causing the boy to slightly flinch before bowing his head at her.
"I'm sorry." He apologized. "It's my first day here and I didn't have a schedule ahead of time so I just came from the admin office to pick it up and realized that I would be late since I had five minutes left." He explained.
The blonde teacher eyes softened at bit at how apologetic the boy was and gestured him to raise his hand.
"May I please see your schedule?" She asked as he nodded his head and gave it to her. She scanned her eyes over it, reading the contents on the sheet and let out a small hum.
"Ah, I see. So, you are the new student that I was informed of." She spoke as she inspected the paper.
"Yes ma'am, once again I'm sorry for being late and running in the hall." He apologize once more but the teacher let out a small chuckle.
"No need to apologize, it's your first day and you didn't want to have a bad start so it's no trouble. However, I do prefer it if you please try not to run and don't want this to be a constant thing."
"Yes ma'am."
"Wait right here, and I'll call you in." she ordered as he nodded his head. She opened the door heading inside and close the door behind her leaving Itsuki out by himself. He waited for a few minutes before hearing a shout come from inside.
"You can come in now!" Hearing Glynda's voice he walked into the room and he came face to face with so many students. He froze as he saw so many girls in the room and then realized he was the only boy in the room and immediately flustered.
'So many girls!' He thought internally as he looked over the class then realized that he needed to introduce himself.
"Oh, I am Itsuki Yurei, nice to meet you all. It's my first day here and i-I'm new to this school, p-please take care of me." He presented himself the best he could as his face was red and his head down, he could hear a few girls giggling at him.
"Alright, class please make Itsuki here feel welcome here and treat him fairly. Itsuki your seat is going to be next to Ravel." Glynda stated as Itsuki's eyes sprung up at the name. It sounded very familiar. "Ravel please raise your hand." Glynda ordered as the said girl raised her hand, causing Itsuki to gaze over to the back of the class. Following it, he made his way over to her and once got to the back of the class, at in the middle between his seat and girl right next to him.
In the seat beside him, was the girl Glynda mentioned. She had the appearance of a beautiful young girl with dark blue eyes, long blonde hair tied into twin-tails with large drill like curls and ribbons to hold them in place, and the front of her hair had several bangs hanging over her forehead. She was staring out the window as Itsuki took a look at her.
'Huh, she doesn't she's that interested in learning that she has another classmate.' Itsuki thought while tilting his head a bit. Suddenly her eyes blazed over to him for a second, causing to freeze up at her gaze before recomposing himself.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to stare." He apologized while waving his hands. "It's just that well you look like you weren't interested and I didn't want to bother you but I would like to know my classmate if I'm going to be here or you don't have to because it's your choice and not mine… and I'll think I'll shut up now." He said nervously before turning around and went into his seat.
The blonde girl stared at him with cold calculating eyes making Itsuki feel a little uncomfortable as he was unable to meet her gaze, the atmosphere was a bit intense until the blonde let out a small sigh and turned her head away from him, allowing him to breathe in relief.
'For a second there I thought she was going to chew me out.' Itsuki thought before turning his head back to the teacher.
"Now that introductions are over with, we shall get on with history class. Itsuki, you can share a book with Ravel since this is your first day. You will get your books, later on within the week." Glynda said as Itsuki nodded his head before turning back to the blonde girl who he guessed was Ravel.
The said girl pulled out her book and opened it to the designated page and put it at the edge of her table before gazing at him who realized that she was waiting for him to do something. He attempted to lean over the and read the book but the words were still a bit far off from his view.
'I can't read the words that well…' He said as he leaned himself over more to look at the book only to find himself next to Ravel his face nearly pressed against hers, causing the latter to let out a small growl.
He heard her growl and realized he was doing and quickly backed away before letting out a quick apology.
"Sorry." He whispered as she said nothing and let out a sigh knowing that it was going to be a long day. He was about to read it at a distance but Ravel instead grabbed his ear and pulled him down to where they were reading.
After an hour of their class, the bell rung and the period ended as all students headed to their next class. Itsuki was ready to leave until someone called him.
"Yurei-san, would you please stay after for one minute?" Glynda called out as the young man nodded his head as he gathered his belongings. After everyone left the room, he walked up to his teacher and stood in front of her desk,
"Yes, Ma'am?"
"Since this is your first day, I would prefer that someone give you a tour guide through school." She stated.
"Well that doesn't sound too bad."
"Which is why, I'm pairing you up with Ravel." Glynda said as Itsuki let out a small sound of surprise.
'Nevermind!' He then rubbed the back of his neck.
"Oh no, that's okay. I don't want to waste her time with a new student like me, I'm pretty sure she has other important stuff to do." Itsuki said as Ravel came beside him.
"Nonsense, Ravel wouldn't mind showing a new face around the school, and I think it would be good for her as well. She barely interacts with the current student body so I believe a new face and naïve young man like yourself could break her out of her shell." Glynda stated as Itsuki sweat dropped.
'Naïve?'
"You don't mind that do you Ravel?" Glynda turned her head to the young blonde who answered right away.
"Not at all." Ravel replied as she gave her teacher a bow. "In fact, I would like to know Itsuki as well."
"Wonderful." Glynda had a smile on her face. "Go ahead and use you the first break to show him around." She then turned her head to Itsuki. "Come back here after school ends, I'll help you pick up your books."
"Yes ma'am." Itsuki said.
"Now run along, you two. Have fun getting acquainted with each other." Glynda said as she left her classroom to do what she needed to do, leaving the two students behind.
"So, I guess it's just us huh? Hehe." Itsuki said in a nervous tone as Ravel turned around and started walking away causing him to stumble a bit before running up to catch up with her. As Ravel and Itsuki walked with each other, the atmosphere around them was quiet. Ravel was making no attempt to talk with her newcomer while Itsuki didn't know what to say. He felt like he gave a bad first impression towards the girl and he wasn't sure what else to do, he didn't upset her any further.
"Um…" The blonde girl didn't turn back as she continued walking. "Look, I know I didn't leave a good impression back there but I really do want to know you or at least be able to talk instead of us sharing this tense atmosphere."
Ravel stopped moving alerting Itsuki to stop as well and alerting that he may said something wrong once again and was about to apologize until…
"I have an idea." She said slowly as she turned her head around and gazed at him. "I want you to go to the field and wait five minutes there for me, I have something to do. Once that's done, I will meet you up there." Ravel said before turning around and continued walking away from him.
Itsuki realizing what she had just did had drop his head and let out a sigh.
"Dammit." He cursed while turning around and walking out to the said location.
Itsuki was by himself at the field as he watched the clouds in the sky instead of the students going pass him. He was staring at the clouds with frown on his face, he was thinking about the events from earlier, not even a full day in school and he already left an impression on someone and not in a good way.
It's been more than five minutes since Ravel told him to meet her at the field but he had already known what she was going to do. She was not going to be hanging around him any longer, or give him the tour guide, not like he was interested in doing it anymore anyway.
"Man this sucks." He sulked. "I was pulled out of my last high school to get away from all that freakin drama and I want to make new friends but that doesn't seem like it will happen since I'm terrible at doing that!" Itsuki whined while sitting up. "I only had one friend and she's off who knows where."
He then raised a hand to his face, specifically his right side and ran his hand down his face.
"The only friend I ever had just decided to end their friendship with me and then disappears from my life the next day as if the bond was never there…" Itsuki let out a long sigh before laying his head back onto the soft grass and closed his eyes wanting to go to dreamland only for his want to be denied as someone had stood over his head.
"Are you okay?" A soft voice had rang into his ears. Opening his eyes, Itsuki was met with a pair of large breasts hanging in front of him making him to stare incredulously before his eyes widened in shock at what he was staring at and let out a small sound of surprise.
'Huge!' He mentally shouted and then immediately sat up, he turned his head to see who he was talking to. In front of him, was a girl with short black hair and dark grey eyes. She was wearing the school uniform but she had on long sleeves and short magenta skirt with high knee socks and brown loafers.
"Um… hi." He waved weakly.
"You know if this is how you greet people normally then you're become an antisocial person."
'I already am one.' He mentally thought before clearing his throat and speaking. "I was just surprised to be approach by someone. My uh tour guide had told me to come here and meet her but she had never showed up, so I think she ditched me."
"Now that's just rude of her, they shouldn't abandon someone just because they don't want to be bothered with." The girl before said with anger in her voice.
"That's okay. I doubt she would wanted to do it anyway, she didn't seem interested to be my tour guide or anything with that matter. I mean Ravel wasn't exactly easy to talk to considering—" Itsuki explained but then was interrupted.
"Wait, did you say Ravel, as in Ravel Akari?" The girl questioned.
"Yeah, you know her?" Itsuki asked as the girl let out a small sigh.
"Everyone does. Ravel is one of the mascots of the school but she's really anti-social. She prefers to be alone and away from people, not giving anyone a chance. The only person that's been able to speak with her is a teacher named Glynda but everyone else to her is just annoyances." She explained using air quotes for the word mascot.
"Well, that makes sense." Itsuki said while mentally sighing in his head. 'Wish I had known that earlier.'
"Don't feel too bad about it, you didn't know and it's your first day so you're bound to hear stuff that goes on around the school." She reassured him as he gave her a smile.
"T-thanks."
"Oh, how about I be your tour guide and I can show you around the school?" She offered as he looked at her in shock.
"R-really, are you sure? I don't want to cause too much trouble."
"Oh don't worry about it, I like helping others and you're not trouble." She reassured him with a smile.
"Thanks, oh by the way, I'm Itsuki. Itsuki Yurei, 2nd year transfer student." He introduced himself.
"Suguha Kirigaya, nice to meet you Itsuki." She greeted herself. "Now let's go, on with the tour of Kuoh Academy!" She yelled while pumping her fist in the air.
"Yeah!" Itsuki followed as he pumped his own fist into the air as well.
Elsewhere, Ravel was by herself alone on the rooftop of the academy. Her arms planted on the edge of the rail with her hands on her cheeks, gazing at the humans below her all of them conversing with each other as if they were having a good time with their lives. She let out an annoy sound and glared at them, she wanted to be like them, she wanted to be happy where she wouldn't have to worry about anything and could just enjoy her life freely without any worries.
Unfortunately for her, she didn't have that luxury to be happy and have that freedom. No, she had to suffer for it. Her suffering involved hours of physical abuse from her brother whenever he was pissed off, dealing with a certain someone on a daily basis as a constant reminder of their problem and let's not forget that she cannot even use her family's ability properly. Yep, Ravel Akira aka Ravel Phenex was the only one in her family that couldn't use her family's ability to its full capacity.
Who knew that it would cause a lot of problems with the stupid high-class society that they live in the underworld. Only her parents, and her older sister cared for her. Everyone else out there, found her as a failure or a weakling due to not being able to use her family's fire. At least to their knowledge, she can regenerate just like her family can but at a much slower rate. She had found that out the day she had tried to take her own life by slitting her throat in the middle of the night after dealing with a really bad day outside home. Surprised that she was still alive, and that her throat was in tact but it still left a scar from her self-harm. However, this scared her parents immensely.
Her mother Layla and father Igniz, knew that having their daughter in the underworld any further would make things worse so they pulled her out and decided to have her live in the human world. Ravel was both angered at the action and understanding of it. She was angry that her parents would leave her here but she understood why they did it and couldn't blame them. They were terrified for her and worried what she would do next after her suicide attempt.
Ravel let out a sigh at all the stuff she was remembering from her past and gazed at the sky.
'I wonder, if I was able to die and be reborn, would I be as free as the clouds are in that bright blue sky? Away from all the things that have made my life a living nightmare?' She thought to herself before letting out another sigh as she felt a presence from behind her. "I know you're there, come on out already."
Coming from behind the door was a soccer sized sphere full of water that was endlessly floating in the air towards Ravel.
{I thought I would find you here}. The sphere spoke as it set next to Ravel.
"Why are you spying on me?"
{To make sure you don't hurt yourself.}
"I'm fine."
{Really because last time we left you alone you wander off alone it didn't end well. So sorry, if I can't help but find your answer not convincing.}
Ravel eyes narrowed in anger as she turned her head to the sphere.
"If you don't mind, I'd liked it better when I was just by myself, so please do not bother me until I get home." She said in a firm tone leaving no room for argument and immediately picked up her bag, walking towards the door. Opening it, she heard the sphere speak once more.
{Ravel, please just let us know what we can do for you.}
"You can leave me alone." Ravel said as she slammed door leaving the sphere alone before it suddenly exploded leaving drops of water to splat along the ground.
Passing onto lunch time, Suguha and Itsuki were sitting at a table eating their own lunches, the former was eating kitsune udon while the latter was eating some chow mein and fried rice.
"So what do you think of the school so far?" She asked starting a conversation.
"Well mhpa idsf bet moawre!?" Itsuki's mouth was muffled with food earning a scowl from his classmate.
"Finish chewing." She scolded as he held a hand up and swallowed his food.
"Sorry, what I meant to say is that this is alright but weird. I mean the one thing I notice off about this place was that they're a lot more girls here than normal." Itsuki stated before realizing what he said and immediately waved his hands frantically.
"N-not that's it a bad thing! It's just that it's weird that there's more girls and not like a balanced—" He stuttered trying to explain himself only for her to wave her hand,
"Calm down, I'm not mad." Suguha reassured him. "If anything, I'm surprised that you finally noticed that, this place used to be an all-girl student academy, both students and staff." She stated.
"Really?" Itsuki asked while tilting his head. "This place used to be an all-girl academy? That actually makes more sense."
"Yep, and it was for a while until last year they changed it into co-ed school." Suguha explained while taking a bite of her udon.
"Why did they change it then?" Itsuki asked out of curiosity.
"No one knows." Suguha said while shaking her head. "It became a coed school when I started my first year here, that was the only thing that changed along with four transfer students coming in at the same time." She added as Itsuki raised his eyebrow.
"What!?" That seemed very odd.
"Mmhm. Four second year girls all came in at the same time but what threw me off was how popular they became within the few months they started here." Suguha said as Itsuki listened.
"Who are they?"
"Well…" Suguha paused for a second to raise her free hand up. "First you have Souna Shitori, she is the president of the student council. She is a an intelligent person and is very strict on rules and duties so if you get in trouble or caught slacking in a subject, you're in for a rude awakening."
"Yikes, better watch out for her." He did not need another woman in his life to keep him on his studies, he already has one.
"Second there's Tsubaki Shinra. She's the right hand of Sona as she's the vice president of the Student Council and has a serious personality. Like her president, she can has a strict and calm demeanor, rarely smiling. Third is Akeno Himejima, she is seen as an elegant and gentle lady embodying the principals of the ideal Nadeshiko Japanese woman, but don't let her looks fool you. She like to tease students whenever she can both male and female. " Suguha described.
"So, she's into both gender?" Itsuki asked with a raised eyebrow.
"No one knows, no one's brave enough to ask without falling for her charms within 3 feet of the girl." Suguha stated with an exasperated tone. "Lastly, you have Rias Gremory. She is the number one popular girl around here that every guy wants to go out with and girl. She's very kind and compassionate to everyone around her."
"That… doesn't sound too bad…" Itsuki said.
"But I don't trust her." Suguha stated. "For some reason I don't know and I rarely talk to her but whenever I'm around her, I have this feeling go through my body telling me to be careful around her." Suguha said as she turned her head to look up at the ceiling. "I can't describe it any further than that."
"I see."
"Anyway, that's what I wanted to share. Other than that, I don't really have anything else much interesting to talk about so let's move onto you." Suguha planted her hands on her cheeks and her elbows on the table. "Where are you from Itsuki?"
"Oh well… there's nothing that much about me. I'm from Tokyo High and I came here with my sister." Itsuki explained.
"Tokyo High?"
"Yeah, that place wasn't exactly eh, fun. It was nothing but class and the school was suuupper boring both in and out." He stated.
"I see, I bet you miss your friends since you were transfer here." She said as his eyes widened a bit, turning his head away and rubbed the back of his neck
"Yeah friends…. Um yeah… hehe… kinda…" He trailed off as Suguha noticed the tone in his voice.
'He's nervous…. Did he not have friends at his other school?' She questioned wondering if Itsuki had problems back at his former school. Wanting to move onto something else Itsuki cleared his throat.
"So um, what about you Suguha?" He asked.
"Well, I'm captain of the kendo club and part of a gaming club outside of school." She answered.
"Kendo club?" Itsuki enquired when he turned to the stick standing up by Suguha and let out a realization sound. "Ah, should've know since you were carrying that thing around the entire time."
"Yep, kendo is a hobby of mine and the only other time I do anything else is hang out with my friends, Murayama and Katase." Suguha explained. "Other than that, I don't really do anything outside of school, and I live with my mother but there are days when she doesn't come home till midnight sometimes so I rarely see her."
"Wow." Itsuki said as Suguha let out a giggle before they both went back to finishing the food. After that, Suguha offered to help finish the tour as Itsuki nodded his head and followed along wherever she went. As they were heading to the field, Itsuki stopped for one second as he felt like something or someone was watching him. Slowly turning his head, he looked around the hallway and didn't see anybody that was staring at him, they were all conversing with each other.
Suguha noticed that Itsuki stopped walking and was looking around.
"Hey, are you okay?" She asked as she shook his shoulder.
"Huh? Oh yeah, I'm fine. For some reason I felt like something was watching me but I could be just losing my mind." Itsuki joked.
"Really, are you sure you're not just staring at the girls' bodies?" Suguha teased earning a small blush from Itsuki.
"N-no that's not it!" He shouted a bit before realizing how loud he sounded. "I-I mean, I'm not trying to be a pervert but they are all beautiful in their own way including you." He whispered.
Suguha let out a small sound of surprise at being called beautiful by her fellow classmate causing her cheeks to blush at the compliment. She's never been really called that by anyone other than by her friends but hearing from Itsuki for some reason made her feel different.
"Well, if I'm beautiful then you're pretty handsome." Suguha compliment him earning a small stutter before he whispered a thank you in return. "Come on, let's finish the tour." Suguha said as she grabbed his hand and pulled him along to wherever they were heading, the former blushing as he was holding hands with a girl.
Peering them from behind a corridor was Ravel as she had her arms crossed underneath her chest. She wasn't the only one, up on the stairs staring at them over the railing was a crimson haired girl with a buxom figure. She had blue-green eyes and long crimson red hair, with a hand placed on her cheek and her lips curled into a smile. This was Rias Gremory. She was currently observing the new kid who had just entered the school but what made her curious about him was that there was no record of Itsuki Yurei through anything. No records of middle school, no dob, nothing about him that would identify who he is. Normally she could have one of her peerage members watch over him but she decided to see who he is for herself.
'I spy my little eye on something innocent, so frail, so gentle…..' Rias then licked her lips seductively as she watched Itsuki blushed before being dragged by Suguha. '…..so easy to corrupt.' She then gazed her eyes down to Ravel who seemed to notice that the redhead was staring at her before frowning and turned her head away and left the place.
'Just who will you be Itsuki, a rook, a knight, a pawn…. So many possibilities.' Rias thought. "In the meantime, I shall send to Koneko to spy on Izumi for me and report back." Rias then turned around and walked away from the railings while disappearing into the crowd.
Itsuki yawned as he made his way to his home, stretching his arms out as he did.
"Well, that was a pretty good first day." He commented as he put his hand on his headphones, his other hand holding his bag. "I was almost late, met a cool teacher, met a cold girl, met an awesome girl and I got my own set of books thanks to Glynda." Itsuki said.
"Wonder what else is in store for me?" He asked himself. His train of thought was interrupted when heard a small sound from an alleyway.
"Hm?"
Walking over to the alley, he saw a dumpster, windows, nothing of the sort that would make that sound… or so he thought. As his eyes gazed over to the ground, and his pupils widened in shock. On the ground he saw a girl with blonde hair, laid down on her back and she was wearing some sort of dress that was stained with blood. His eyes then widened in recognition when he realized who he was looking at .
"Ravel!" He shouted in alarm as while dropping his bag to the ground and rushing over to her, sliding down he gently wrap an arm under her back and her head as he examined her state. His eyes widened in alarm as he saw blood staining around her midsection on her dress. "Oh no." he looked up and saw a trail up to the other side of the alleyway telling him that she's been bleeding out for awhile.
'Is there at least a heartbeat,' he thought as he laid his ear near her chest, panicking when he heard nothing come from her. He was about to get back and start CPR until a faint heart beat reached his ear.
He sighed in relief. "Okay, she's still breathing." He thought calmly but mentally he was being frantic. "How did this happen?"
"An unexpected guest." Itsuki turned his head up away from Ravel and saw someone. He saw an extremely attractive young woman with long red hair tied into twin tails and blue-green eyes, wearing a French maid outfit confusing him.
"Um, hello?" He called out.
"A human, this is very unexpected. I was sure I put up a barrier to make sure we wouldn't be interrupted." She said as she gazed at Itsuki before peering down at Ravel who was breathing heavily. "No matter, I must finish my mission. Excuse me young boy, but could you please kindly move aside so I can deal with the girl in your arms?" She asked kindly.
"What? Wait you mean you're responsible for this!?" Itsuki shouted at her.
"Yes, and I must kill her however I would prefer if it was just her. I really hate to kill an innocent human like you, so please turn around and walk away from this." She repeated.
"Yeah, no thanks. Like I'm going to walk away from a classmate of mine that is about to kill by a random woman." Itsuki retorted.
"Do you even know what she is?" She asked while pointing to the blonde. "She is a devil and not just any devil, she is a banished daughter of High-Ranking clan and is not considered to be a very high spoken of."
'Ravel's a devil… wait what about her being banished?'
"I will ask this one more time, please walk away and I promise you that you will not remember this." She gently asked.
Itsuki looked at the redhead in front of him before turning down to Ravel whose eyes slowly opened a bit and stared at Itsuki.
Itsuki then stood up and turned around facing the girl, clenching his teeth before staring at the girl with a protective gaze.
"Sorry, ma'am but you're going to have go through me to get to her." Itsuki stated fiercely.
"Very well, then you shall die along with her for your own foolishness. In the honor of the Swamp Witch, I, Airi the maiden wraith shall be your executioner and send you to the afterlife." Airi revealed while summoning a large scythe and aimed it at Itsuki.
The boy shook as he felt an intense and dark aura fill the air making his body shiver in fear and causing his heart to beat a hundred miles per hour.
'Whoever this girl is…. She's not joking. She's really going to kill me. This air around her…. It's making me feel sick and nauseas, my mind is telling me to run but I can't even move!' He shivered as his mind started panicking.
Just then he felt a voice whisper to him, looking down he remembered the blonde girl in his arms as she tried to speak to him.
"Get… get out…. away… from here..." Ravel panted while trying to remain awake. Itsuki grimaced at how hard she was trying to convince to leave her alone so he would be saved, he wouldn't. Despite the girl being cold to him this morning and ditching him, he wasn't going to leave her behind and leave her to die. Shaking his head, he gently lifted Ravel and sat her against the wall of a building.
"What…. What are you…" Ravel tried to ask only to feel a hand on her head.
"I won't let you die." He whispered. Ravel wanted to say that he couldn't, that a human had no power against a wraith and was going to die but she couldn't speak as she felt herself losing consciousness.
'Yeah, I might die but…' Itsuki turned his head to Ravel. 'I can't just stand by and let someone get killed… so what do I do, the best I can do is run and hide….' He trailed off as he turned back up to Airi. He then took something out of his pocket in the form of a ball before clicking on it.
"Sorry, but I don't intend on dying just yet!" Itsuki then threw the object towards Airi who clicking raised her scythe and was ready to cut it down until the object suddenly made a sound. The sound of an alarm rang through the air as if forced Airi to wince at the sudden sound and Itsuki who quickly used this chance to turn around with Ravel in his arms and immediately start running the opposite direction.
"That little boy." She muttered before looking down at the alarm clock and sliced it in half, destroying the battery. "You will not get away from me!" She said before she blasted off her feet and started flying towards her targets.
Itsuki was running through the streets like crazy, he was too busy in the state of urgency that he never noticed that there were no cars or people around the area.
'Got to run, got to run, got to run. I need to get her to a hospital fast!' Itsuki mentally thought as he looked behind him and didn't see anyone then turned up to the sky and saw that it was pitch black and there was mist all over the streets.
"What the? What's going on, where are all the people!?" He asked in confusion as he just realized that there was no one around or any signs of life around. Just a minute ago, there were cars patrolling the street and now there was no one in sight. And when did the sky become a dark bloody red.
SHTINK!
Before he could think any further, he felt something slice his back immediately, causing him to trip and fall onto the ground drop Ravel who grunted in pain at the impact.
"AAAAHHHHHH! UGGGHH!" Itsuki yelled as he felt hot searing pain shoot through his back as there was a large gash going from his shoulder down his back, blood seeping through his uniform and dripping onto the pavement.
"You should've left this alone." Turning his head slowly, he saw Airi giving him a cold stare. "If you had, then none of this would've happened. You could've gone back to your life and pretend you never saw me but you had to go play hero, thinking that you could help."
Itsuki attempted to get up and was on his knees but Airi had kicked him back down and stabbed her blade into his back, leaving the boy let out a wail of pain.
"AAAAHHHH!"
"And now, you're going to die for your foolish attempt. Noble but foolish." Airi said while pressing her weapon harder into his back. "However, my main target is the Devil princess so I will deal with her first." The wraith said as she started walking away but then felt a hand grab her foot, looking down.
"No… don't… I can't let you…" Itsuki groaned as he was trying his hardest to get up but his body felt so tired.
"Honestly, what are you doing?" She asked while kicking him in the stomach. "Why do you care for this girl, you've never even met her and yet you're willing to sacrifice your life for her? Why is that?" Airi asked while bending down on her knees and stared at Itsuki who now had blood running from his lips.
"Answer me boy, why do you continue to when you know it's futile?"
"Because…." Itsuki was struggling to breathe as he tried to speak to her. He turned to Ravel whose eyes were opened and like him, she had blood running from her lips. Her head turning to him. "…she needs help….i'm not saving her… for something in return…. I'm helping because it's the right thing to do… Ack!" he explained before coughing up some blood and splatted onto the pavement.
If I just left her…. Leave her in the alley knowing that I could've done something…. It wouldn't sit right with me…. it shouldn't matter whether you get a reward or not… if you found yourself in a situation where someone needed help… and you have the power to be able to do that then… that's all there should be to it…" He panted while coughing up more blood onto the ground and Airi could the see the light in his eyes slowly starting to fade.
"Humanity sucks… but… there are… still a few people…. out there that… actually care…
Airi started chuckling at his words before she went back to a cold expression but this time her lips were shooting upwards.
"How amusing. You're the first male that I've met whose intentions are pure. Every other male I've encountered has given me the wrong answers, all of them wanting rewards for their own personal gain or worse." Airi then reached out tracing her thumb over the corner of his lips, wiping away some of the blood and then put in towards her mouth, consuming it.
"You are different. Your soul, it tells me everything about you. What've you been through, what've you endured, if anything it makes feel sad that for what I am about to do." Airi stated while standing up.
"But first…" Airi walked over to Ravel and stared down at the blonde girl that was close from dying. "Do you have any last words that you would like to say little devil? I don't mind relaying your message to whoever you wish it for." Airi asked.
Ravel slowly turned her head towards Airi and had no words for her as she glared at the wraith with all the hate she could muster at the moment.
"Very well, may you live easily in the afterlife young girl." Airi said and Ravel couldn't say anything as she watched the blade swing down on her. The sound of steel connecting with flesh and blood spraying into the air and splatted onto the pavement leaving only silence in its wake.
Ravel had her eyes closed waiting for the blade to strike her down and end her existence but she felt nothing. She slowly opened her eyes expecting to see the blade in her stomach only to be shocked at what she saw instead, Itsuki in front of her standing on both feet as he held his right forearm above his head to stop the scythe as it was embedded in his skin. Airi was also surprised at not only that the human boy she had wounded stopped her attack but also what changed about him.
'What? What's going on!? This boy was just barely breathing and now he's able to stand on his two feet?' Airi thought in shock at seeing the human boy block her attack. She was about to remove the blade from him until she heard him speak.
"You... shouldn't have done that." Itsuki spoke in a low tone with his head still lowered. Airi was confused on what he meant when suddenly she felt the wind knocked out of her when a blow connected with her stomach and sent her flying to a car nearby and she crashed into it.
"AHH!" She yelled in pain as she collapsed to the floor and landed on her knees. She panted as the air return to her lungs, and she slowly stood up from the ground with her scythe still in her hand. She looked up at Itsuki and saw something that shocked her. Looking at his face, she saw that his eyes were different. Instead of the scared boy from earlier, she saw someone else... Itsuki now sported a neutral look and his right eye, it was no longer the same sky blue, it was silver with an inorganic clock face with Japanese Numerals.
"I told you... that you would have to go through to get to her... but it seems you did not heed my warning." Itsuki said while looking at his right arm that was bleeding profusely and didn't look like it would stop anytime soon. "Since you refused listen to reason, I believe it's time to take action." He finished while looking up at her.
"So how you would like to die, by age acceleration, cutting out your heart, dissecting your brain or complete erasure?" He asked giving her several options making Airi narrow her eyes at being spoke as if he had the advantage while Ravel was still confused on what was going on. What had happened to the boy that she met earlier, today and what was he hiding?
"Don't fret, you don't have to give me answer right away. We've plenty of time to thank it over..." He trailed off while his face contorted into a smile, not the normal full of innocence. No, it was a smile filled with malice and killing intent.

If you like it awesome, if you don't then sorry to disappoint. As always, thank you for reading and see you in the next one.
