Hello All who read this, This is my first attempt at writing so I'll try my best here and try and fix any of the mistakes I make before uploading and after uploading, sry if there is something I miss but I know someone will mention it in the comments so I'm not very worried. Anyway, enjoy this 1st chapter or well prelude?... I'm not sure I'm sure ill figure it out later.

The Invincible Monster
Prologue
It was only just after the first few weeks of school, and most of the students were getting into the swing of Beacon life when Team J.N.P.R received a mission. It wasn't anything crazy or end-of-the-world scale, but it was important nonetheless. Checking on relay towers outside the walls of Vale, this crucial task involved inspecting each tower's electricity and dust supply for their generators and going through a checklist for maintenance crews to address later.
Team J.N.P.R hated this, mostly the "N" part of J.N.P.R. "I'm sooooo bored, Ren, can we please play something now?" she twirled herself and her massive hammer around the quiet, cold, and very boring woods. Ren answered her with the same calm voice he always seem to have. "Jaune said to wait here till he is done with the checklist, and Pyrrha is back from her scouting. Sorry, Nora, you'll just have to wait a little bit longer." Nora then flopped on the ground with a huff and kicked her feet up and down in the air like a kid would. Ren piped up as he looked down at the short redhead, "I'll make some brownies when we get back if you ge—" He was interrupted by Nora tackling him.
Jaune at least knew how to do this, and it didn't involve launching a girl at a giant bird monster at the speed of sound. Going through the last of the list, he found no real problems with this station besides an annoying smell in the lower levels and a leak near the entrance. His thoughts were interrupted by a beeping noise from the tower's alarm grid. It was Grimm, and by the looks of the scanner, they were heading directly for— "Pyrrha! You got Grimm heading your way, lots of them." He quickly put away his scroll and headed for the entrance of the tower, preparing for the worst.
The Grimm were charging, about two dozen Beowolves searching for the prey they had caught on the wind. They clawed trees with their shoulder spikes and leaped and bounded in the direction of the scent. The leader stood up on its hind legs and sniffed the air once more. Whatever was out here was close though; it smelled different, like he knew this scent but it was stained by something else. The Beowulf Leader never got to figure it out, for in just a split second, a shot rang out, and where the Pack Leader's head was, now a hole and a dissolving body.
"Hello Prey, Glad you found me, but you're going to die now." The creature in question had a humanoid upper half, with long red hair kept in a ponytail along with piercing emerald eyes. She wore an armored corset of a bronze metallic color and a skirt covering her lower humanoid half. Below that, though, was a serpentine body made up of green scales with bronze armored sides. At the end was a large metallic-looking tail in the shape of a club. This monster rose up to 9 feet tall, coiling itself upward as the rest of its body was probably twice its length in height. It readied a spear and shield it had in its hands and like a spring, charged at the Beowolves.
The first Beowolf was hit by a shield bash followed quickly by a spear thrust through the neck. The monster then turned its whole body, twisting until its tail smashed through one, launching it into its packmate and then into a tree, impaling both on one of its wayward branches. She shifted her weapon back into a rifle and ducked in time for a counterattack by two of the Beowolves, causing both of them to smash into each other. They looked up just in time to see this creature raise its rifle up and darkness soon followed as two shots rang out, then darkness. She quickly gained some distance as the rest of the pack closed in, using her body to duck and weave between trees at an alarming speed. Quickly turning about and transforming her rifle into a spear again, she impaled one of the Beowolves on it as it launched itself at her. She followed this up by tossing her shield at a tree which rebounded into the back of one of the wolves cornering her. Finally, one of the wolves leaped from behind, getting within striking range of her. She was soon pinned to the ground by her shoulders as the Beowulf lowered its maw to bite her head off. Suddenly, the Beowulf felt its body being crushed. As the monster's body coiled around the Beowulf, it raised itself off the ground, looking down at the Beowulf with anger in its emerald eyes. "I hate that I might share something with you creatures, so filled with hatred..." She followed this by crushing the Beowulf within her grasp, its body going limp for it to only start to slowly dissolve in the wind. The rest of them fled out of fear of this beast, but also knowing they would only be throwing their lives away for no reason trying to take down this adversary.
Pyrrha watched as the Beowolves fled and breathed a sigh of relief. She hadn't fought in this form for a while, not since she got to Beacon, as she heard a rumor that there were a lot of cameras in the initiation trial. She caught a noise coming from her right and knew it to be her friends. She quickly ducked between a large bramble of trees and bushes and noticed the rest of team J.N.P.R as she began to transform. It was never a painful process; it was a tingly sensation as her serpentine body shrank and changed from green and bronze scales into what was her regular pale human legs and her armored greaves. Her tail split into two and reformed into her feet with her high-heeled shoes. She checked herself over and once again sighed in relief. "Good right height, right coloration of skin, everything is normal on me now." She moved out of the woods quickly back to the clearing and waved over to the rest of the team, smiling normally as she waved with one hand holding her rifle Milo. "I took care of them, about a dozen or so fled though," as she pretended to catch her breath. Jaune looked around and saw the last bits of dissolving Beowolves, scattered about the clearing. He resigned himself to smiling and shaking his head. "Good job, Pyrrha, but please wait for backup to arrive next time," he said with a hint of worry in his voice. Pyrrha smiled again and nodded, "I'm sorry, I knew I could handle them though. I promise to wait until next time." Nora then went up to Pyrrha all bubbly and twitchy. "Yeah, Pyr, come on, leave some for the rest of us. I haven't bashed anything since four towers ago and that was a tree," she exclaimed with an annoyed and bored expression. The rest of Team J.N.P.R laughed at Nora's bored expression till Ren answered, "That was the last one though, so we should be headed back to Beacon soon." A few hours later after Jaune set up the signaling flare, the team boarded the Bullhead and was flying through the sky back to Vale and the Academy.
Watching far from the Bullhead's landing was a Beowulf. It snarled and scratched at the tree it was clutching as it saw the air vehicle launch up and fly away. The pack of Beowolves had accidentally found a new enemy. A Monster that fights monsters.
Pyrrha was sitting in the window seat of the bullhead watching as the sunset over the forest below, its orange and red rays giving way to blue and purples as night approached. This had been the first time in while she could use that power or curse she had. She wanted to keep this to herself to be that pillar that many saw her as but… she wondered how long she could keep this hidden. He thoughts were interrupted by the sound of Nora Snoring in her sleep as ren was reading something on his scroll and Jaune was sitting with his bucket just in case of another incident like the 1st day at the academy. "Oh well-" she thought to herself "That is a question for another day" She got up and sat next to Jaune and rested her eyes till the bullhead made it back to the academy.
And that wraps up the prologue, I'll try to upload new chapters every Saturday or Sunday depending from now on but Ill let you guys know if something might come up or apologize when the next chapter is released. I will also put this thing through a few spell checks and grammar edits but please let me know what you think in the comments, this is my very first fanfic so im new to this.
