Reina was a thousand feet in the air, surveying the damage of the Hidden Leaf village. It was catastrophic to put lightly. Fires burned, buildings collapsed, and corpses lined the streets. She floated back down to the ground to regroup with her family and shook her head.
"It's bad." Reina looked up towards her brothers. "We lost too many shinobi and our defenses are weak."
"What are we going to do if other villages catch wind and there's an enemy attack?" Tobirama turned to Hashirama.
Hashirama turned to Reina. "Reina, you-"
"No." Madara stepped forward. "Reina is staying in the village with me and Kagami."
Hashirama's breath hitched in her throat. "We need someone to survey surrounding lands. Reina and the ANBU are the only ones capable of this. Hell, Reina is a one-man army at this point in her life."
"No, brother." Reina shook her head.
"Hokage's orders," Tobirama muttered.
Reina looked both of them in the eyes. "Go fuck yourselves." They both were flabbergasted.
"Reina!" Mito gasped.
Han simply stood back with his arms crossed, pleased with his adoptive sister's display.
Reina continued. "I've had it to the point where I cannot believe I haven't defected from a trainwreck of a village. And do you want to know why we are in this peril? It's because of YOU two! But mostly YOU Hashirama." Reina pointed. "You couldn't fight Tobirama on not making this village a democracy and assumed leadership in a rigged election when you KNEW Madara would be a better leader. You told him yourself. You assumed position, knowing you couldn't. You didn't even stand up to your own prejudiced brother!"
"Reina!" Tobirama tried stopping her.
"JUST SHUT UP!" Reina roared. "I'm tired of being silenced!" She continued. "You ruled my life to become a war treaty for Madara Uchiha, so you could monitor your own friend's behavior because you were already privy to the inequality he was subject to! You knew one day or another the Uchiha would rebel. Oh, but wait. You figured tying our clans together would unify them somehow." Reina shook her head. "You then had me and Madara take on work that YOU should have been part of, only stepping in right before catastrophe hit! And you know what?! The UCHIHA clan is going to take the brunt for this, because EVERYONE who you've become so damn chummy with knows that is was us spearheading this goddamn mission! And now you're afraid!" Reina chuckled. "You think you have the spine to take down those who harm your village, but no, you're fine sending in your coveted baby sister, because all along you've NEEDED my power! YOU needed ME! YOU have used ME!" Reina panted. "And now, because you're worried about being taken over, you want me to slaughter the innocent!"
Mito looked at Hashirama. "Is this what you and Tobirama have been stressing about?" She stepped in front of him. "You wanted to take lives to save your pipe dream manifest?!"
Hashirama was frozen in place. "Mito.. it was a difficult thing to-"
Mito shook her head. "I… don't know what to say to you." She began walking away. "I'm going to round up bodies. I can't do this right now."
Hashirama took in a deep breath and turned to Reina. "If war breaks out we're done for. My dream. Madara's dream. The village. Our clan."
Reina stepped forward and looked Hashirama dead in the eyes. "Why should I care about anything or anyone who doesn't have my back? You were all willing to throw me and the Uchiha to the wolves."
Hashirama shook his head. "That's not true." He started you become emotional. "I never thought of it that way. I never thought the Uchiha clan would be subject to prejudice or that this would exacerbate it."
Reina laughed. "That's rich since the source of this bullshit has been beside you this entire time!" She pointed to Tobirama. "And now you're fine with getting my hands bloodied?!"
Hashirama's eyes began to well up. "It's the only way. You or all-out world war all over again."
Reina nodded her head. "And this is all because of you having no spine and a lack of involvement. This is because you kept dragging your fucking feat." She was mere inches from his face. "This is for being a failure of a Hokage. You out to be ashamed of yourself. A true leader would do anything to preserve as many lives as they could. Their goal should be to unite. Tsk! Some humanitarian you are." Reina hissed as Hashirama went cold. "Let me show you how real leadership is done. We're doing things my way now."
Tobirama's eyes widened. "Are you trying to usurp the Hokage? That's treason!" He scowled. "You truly have become an Uchi-Aaah!"
Hashirama sent Tobirama flying with a punch. "SHUT UP! SHE'S RIGHT GODDAMNIT!" He cried. "STOP INSULTING THE UCHIHA AND LISTEN FOR ONCE!"
Reina was flabbergasted but nonetheless pleased. "Here's what we're going to do. We're going to round up all the dead Miyashita bodies and incinerate them. Once that's completed, we will round up all corpses of civilians and lay them out on the streets. After that, I'll direct you from there. Understood?"
"Right!" Hashirama and Tobirama said before disappearing.
Reina turned to Han. "You inform your people, please and thank you."
Han smiled. "Anything for you." He said before disappearing.
Reina turned to Madara. "Let's start with out home."
Madara nodded and the two stepped inside. "Oh my-"
Reina gasped as she saw Chiharu and Shika dead on the ground. "No… They tried to protect Kagami."
Madara kneeled on the ground, picking up a bloodied teddybear. "It was this…"
Reina lowered her gaze. "They must have given it to Kagami."
Madara ripped off the button eyes. "Obsidian." He flipped them around to reveal the seal of the Miyashita clan. "There it is."
Reina placed a hang over her mouth, a wail erupting from her throat.
…
Reina and Madara made their way to the shelters and found Sasuke and Hiroko. "Hiroko!" Reina called.
The woman turned around and sighed with relief. "Oh thank goodness you're alive." She scooped Kagami up from the cushion he was resting on. "He's okay."
Reina cried and took her baby in her arms. "Thank you!"
Madara's eyes watered as he shook Sasuke's hand. "Thank you… Sasuke."
Sasuke, equally as emotional, nodded. "Yeah, of course, friend."
Madara wrapped his arms around Reina as the two sat and cradled their baby in solace.
…
Reina held Kagami while she watched the Miyashita bodies blaze. Madara took Tadao and tossed the teddy into the fire. The couple held hands while they watched the burn with satisfaction.
"Reina!" Mito called. "All of the bodies are laid along the streets as requested.
Reina gave a bittersweet smile. "It's time." She looked down at Kagami. "Oh, my sweet child." She turned to Madara and looked up at him while tears streamed down her face.
Madara looked down at her with slight concern. "Honey, what's wrong? Reina?"
Reina gestured towards the Uchiha clan compound. "Let's walk and regroup."
The couple walked towards the gates to the Uchiha clan compound, passing dead bodies and people wailing over them. Parents shrieking over their dead children. Husbands weeping over their wives. Wives screaming over their husbands. There weight of tears shed was greater than that of the world. It was a dreadful sight.
Reina and Madara waited as Hashirama, Tobirama, Mito, and Han gathered around. Jun and his wife also joined up, along with various Uchiha, Senju, and ANBU, waiting for their next order.
Madara turned to Reina. "Reina… what's our next move?"
Reina smiled up at him. "There is none." She slowly walked over to Jun. "Will you kindly hold Kagami for us?"
Jun nodded. "O-of course." He looked at her with concern.
Reina bent down and stroked her baby's cheek. "I will always love you." She kissed him before turning on her heels, never looking back. Tears streaming down her face.
"R-Reina, what's going on?" Madara grew increasingly anxious.
Reina turned to Hashirama. "Would you be so kind… to use your wood style restraints when the time comes?"
Hashirama, bewildered and afraid, nodded his head. "Of course…"
Reina turned around and walked up to Madara. "Honey… I love you so much." She grabbed his hands and kissed them. "You have made my life worth living. You showed me what it means to love someone. You can be flawed, but if you're willing to grow together and accept one another… dedicate your life to never intentionally harming one another… working to comprehend and always having each other's backs… that's love." She sniffled and her breath became shaky as she wept. "You are my hero… My sun…"
Madara became increasingly concerned. "Reina… why are you saying all of this now?"
She continued. "Do you love me?"
"A-absolutely." Madara nodded and looked at her with bittersweet confusion. "I always will no matter what."
Reina smiled and cupped her hands around his cheeks. "Thank you… for everything." She kissed him on the lips.
Madara's breath became shaky. "Reina, what is this? Why are you saying this?"
Reina pulled apart from him. "This is my contribution to the cause." She smiled and clasped her hands together, interlocking her fingers. "This will be the last jutsu I ever perform."
Madara protested. "What?! But why?!"
"I didn't want to tell you, because I knew you'd object. Please forgive me for withholding one thing from you…" Reina smiled. "I hope you love me regardless."
"O-of course I love you! That's never going to change, but you're not making any sense!" Madara grew panicked. "Reina what are you doing?!"
"One of the powers of the Rinnegan is to breath life back into the dead." Reina smiled. "But I can only do it once. My life, for the lives of many."
Hashirama clasped his hands together. "Wood Style!" Wooden roots emerged from the ground, wrapping Madara in a cage.
Mito placed a seal on Hashirama's cage to reinforce it. "He can't escape with ninjutsu."
Madara cried out. "Wait! No! NO! NO! REINA!"
Reina smiled through her tears. "I love you… please don't hate me for this. I don't want to leave you, but this is the only way to stop war and reset our lives…"
"My life is nothing without you! Don't! REINA! PLEASE! PLEASE STOP!" Madara roared.
"Please love our son. Raise him to be kind. Live a life you're proud of… And love yourself." Reina smiled at him with nothin but love. "I love you… Good-bye, Madara."
"No! NO! NOOOO!" Madara clawed at the wood surrounding him.
Reina's hair fluttered as her chakra increased. "Gedo…" She whispered.
"Are you really going to do this?"
"I am…" Reina closed her eyes.
"Well, I suppose this is good-bye for now, Reina."
"Good-bye…" A large statue emerged from the earth, rattling everyone around her. The abdomen of the giant, demonic-looking statue opened up, engulfing the surrounding area in a warm, green light. It scattered in particles, like falling stars, entering the bodies of all the civilian corpses, breathing life into everyone around her.
Hashirama, Tobirama, Mito, Han, the Ashikaga, the ANBU, and civilians watched in awe as the dead came to life.
Madara cried out from his prison. "REINA STOP! REINA PLEASE! What about our baby?! What about growing old together?! What about… what about… please…!" He whimpered. "Stop…" His cries fell on deaf ears. "Please don't leave me…"
Jun looked at his clan leader and then down at baby Kagami. He slowly began shuttering and weeping, registering what was to happen. "Oh my god…"
Kazuko held Jun as he wept. "Jun, what's happening?"
Jun shook his head and cried, too distraught for his friends and their baby to speak.
Reina's skin paled as her hair turned into a snow white. She slowly exhaled with a smile, opening her eyes at the scenery around her. She turned to Hashirama. "It's done… Release him." She said before opening her mouth wide. A black, globby substance emerged from her mouth, stabbing her Rinnegan, destroying them so none could take them. The black substance fell to the ground and disappeared in the earth without a trace.
Madara could felt the prison loosen and undo. "Reina!" He called.
Reina turned to him and smiled, blood dripping down her cheeks. "Madara… I love you." Just as Madara was released, Reina's body buckled. Madara lunged forward and caught her before she hit the ground. He kneeled with the corpse of his wife, the mother of his child, in his arms.
"Reina…" He shook her body, but no response. "Reina!" He shook her again. "Reina! REINA! REINAAAA!" He belted before breaking down, crying. "Aaaaaah! AAAAAHHH!" He raored as tears fell on her face. "BRING HER BACK! COME BACK!" He wailed. "AAAAH~!"
Everyone began crying and weeping, not only at the death of Reina, but at the reduced man in front of him. Hashirama kneeled on the ground with wide eyes, registering the magnitude of his irresponsibility. Tobirama stood in shock at the product of his prejudices. Mito wailed at the death of her friend. Kazuko gasped in horror and instantly broke down holding Jun and Kagami. The villagers surrounding mourned her death, but most of all, the broken man before them.
"Aaaahaahaaaa!" Madara wailed, caressing her sweet face and white hair. "Reinaaaaaah!"
…
Hours passed and Madara was still kneeling on the ground, crying in shock, cradling Reina's corpse. The sun began to set and he was numbly crying with his deceased wife still in his arms.
Hashirama stepped forward, but Jun grabbed his shoulder and shook his head. He walked over to Madara and kneeled. "Madara… my friend… it's time to let her go."
Madara shook his head. "No."
Jun tilted his head. "Madara, she deserves the respect of being put to rest. You have to let her go."
"No!" Madara shook his head. "No, please don't take her from me."
Jun gently rubbed his back. "Madara…"
Madara closed his eyes and took in a somber breath. "Yeah… I know." He turned to Hashirama. "Please take her." He said while tearing up. As his wife was scooped out of his arms, he began weeping on the ground. Jun stayed by his side until he passed out at nightfall. Jun carried his friend inside his home, where he and Kazuko chose to stay to help out with the baby and watch Madara until he dismissed them.
