Note: So Neil's power in fancy terms is Probability Computation. Aka, luck, as usual. :3
Changes
Everything was changing.
For the past few weeks, Belle wasn't feeling herself.
She worked as a vet office receptionist, and always loved animals. Her family owned a horse farm back in the country, which could explain her connection to animals.
She was walking in the park one day since the weather was sunny and fresh. All of a sudden, a guy stole a woman's purse, and she wished someone would stop him. All of a sudden, all the dogs in the park went after him, and the thief was swarmed with dogs on top of him.
Everyone thought it was unusual, but at least the dogs helped and they had the thief. The cops got him no problem.
She was doing some chores on the stairs outside of the house, then all of a sudden, her sapphire necklace, the one her boyfriend Neil gave to her fell off her neck. Her eyes widen. Neil was going to be so upset. It belonged to his grandmother before she died, and his grandfather gave it to her after they dated for a year before they got married.
It was like she made a command for someone to get her necklace, then all of a sudden, a robin flew, and caught it. The bird perched up on the ledge and gave it to her.
It was the most strangest moment of her life, and there was no logical way to explain how it could have happened.
It wasn't just her, Neil was changing as well.
The only difference was, he was glad for his change.
He went to Jay's bachelor party after Jay and Theresa got engaged.
They went to a casino in town, and Neil tried everything. Roulette, slot machines, poker. He won every game.
The casino security thought he was cheating.
Belle, who frantically came over when she got the phone call, suggested to give at least half of the winnings back, just to make the peace.
Maybe Lady Luck was watching over him, or it was something else.
She heard her boyfriend enter the house as she laid on the couch.
"Hey, Belle," he placed the groceries on the table.
He sat down beside her as he stroke her hair.
"Still caught up about the dogs in the park and that bird, Dr. Dolittle?"
A laugh track should be played, though it was no time for joking. This was serious. What if she had to do something about controlling those dogs, or commanding that bird?
It wasn't normal at all.
What was she becoming. What was Neil becoming. What were they becoming?
"Why are we changing, Neil?" She finally broke the silence. "Why is this happening to us?"
She got up. "We're suppose to just be living ordinary lives. This happens to other people, happens in books and movies. Not to us…!"
Tears in her eyes, her boyfriend's hands were in hers.
"Hey…" he said softly. "If I can love what happened to me, you can love it, too. You're great with animals, and this is a total bonus for you."
He made sure she was listening. "Even if you had something to do with those dogs, you nabbed that thief and got that woman her purse back. You did a good thing out of it, so how could all this be a bad thing?"
He placed a hand on her face. "And hey, at least I have my own Disney Princess now. Are you turning into Snow White? Can you make the birds bake a pie?"
Now was the best time to laugh. She always wanted to be a Disney Princess ever since she was little. Now it was all coming true.
On the plus side with Neil's recent change, it could bring in some income, though he was still going to have to work.
"Whatever happens," began Neil. "I'll always stand beside you."
She leaned into him. Everything was changing, though she was glad she didn't have to go through it alone.
She was so in love with her boyfriend.
Her new animal powers didn't change how Neil felt about her, and nothing about Neil could ever change the way she felt about him either.
A new super power was changing her into something that she didn't know, but at that moment she knew they were both going to get through this together.
