Pulling Babs from the Titan get-together was easier than I thought it was going to be, thanks to Megan. While I was thinking of a tactful way to pull her away from the group without attracting attention, Meg sent her a psychic message to come to her room right away.

The ensuing conversation was the hard part. Babs wasn't like Dick or Jason, both of whom you could ask a question without them figuring out why. Upon asking about Harley Quinn, who was still frozen apparently, Batgirl began to barrage us with her own questions. I ended up just telling her the truth, which was easier than making up some intricate story on the spot. Barbara told me that I was an idiot, but took it better than Bruce would've, had he ever found out about Harley and I. She was the first person besides Megan to find out about this.

The truth was, Barbara didn't know much. Quinn was still cryogenically frozen in the Batcave after Ra's had poisoned her. Alfred had been working on an antidote, but he was no longer able to due to obvious circumstances. Barbara didn't know anything about a child of Quinn either, but she would look into it. She also told me that I probably shouldn't tell anyone else about this. She was probably right.

Meg and I decided to put a pin in this conversation for now, seeing as there was nothing we could do without access to Harley. This just gave me another reason to survive. If I really did have a son, I couldn't leave him without a dad, and I certainly couldn't leave him to be raised by Harley Quinn. Perhaps this would be enough to convince the Arbiters to let me live.

Something in my head, probably Khonshu, told me that it wouldn't be enough though. I pushed the thought aside. Despite my doubts, Meg promised that she would find and raise my son, no matter what happened.

We finally went out so I could really greet the other Titans. If we took too much longer, they might think we are sleeping together, which, given the timing of everything, was much too awkward.

"Surprise!" They all yelled as Meg and I stepped into the hub. I looked around. They had all set up a party for me.

"We know things aren't going well right now." Gar said, smiling, "But you're our friend, Danny. We wanted to give you something at least."

It was my turn to tear up now. I tried not to, tried to be strong, but I couldn't. These were my friends, after all.

"Friend Daniel, we missed you so very much. I must say, your funeral was very sad. Our friend Megan cried so much."

"Kori, I think that's enough." Kara told her, "No one wants to know about their own funeral."

"I would want to know!' Kori objected. Everyone laughed.

It was interesting to hear about everyone's lives now. Donna Troy had spent the last few years in Themyscira, training with Wonder Woman and the amazons. She'd even taken up the name 'Wonder Girl'. It was nice to see her have some identity of her own.

Gar and Raven were still dating, and were apparently getting pretty serious. Gar even told me that he intended on asking her to marry him soon.

Dick had gotten back with Kori and then broken up with her again. However, this time it was a mutual break-up, and there were no longer hard feelings between the two of them. They were still full-time members of the Titans, and Dick had made Kori the co-leader. In her off time, she was still a model, and quite successful too. She never had anything to spend money on, so she had accumulated quite a bit.

Roy was back and forth between Star City and San Francisco. Apparently Oliver intended to retire and have Roy take over completely. He even had a new alias, Red Arrow.

Kara was still very much Kara. She was happy. She had kind of grown into herself, and wasn't nearly as clumsy. She had also earned a doctorate in zoology and was now Doctor Kara Kent. Despite how busy she was with her day job, she still lived at Titan Tower and still was Supergirl.

Cyborg was still with the Justice League and he was thriving. He managed all the tech of the Watchtower and was a valued member.

Zatanna, however, had quit the JLA. She was now roaming the earth with the Hellblazer, John Constantine, who was also her boyfriend now. They traveled around doing whatever it was that he did. It was unexpectedly enjoyable for Zee. It brought a freedom that she had never known before

Things felt normal, for the first time in 5 years. I had the impending feeling of doom still, but it was easier to forget all of that among my friends. However, after a while, I started to feel guilty. Everyone was talking about all the stuff we could do together now that I was back. Both Meg and I knew that this couldn't last. I was quite literally a dead man walking, and my time was short and borrowed.

"Guys, I need to tell you all something." I finally said somberly. All attention was on me. The tone changed in the room completely. "This is such a good time, and I don't want to bring everyone down, but I want everyone to have realistic expectations.

"I am dead. Right now. You're all looking at a zombie, basically. Even now, I feel myself deteriorating. My mind is becoming less sharp as my brain rots and I am getting colder and colder as time passes. The stream of events that led up to my current state is… complicated to say the least, but I am on borrowed time.

"I have made a deal with the Arbiters. I can stay here until I defeat Ra's Al-ghul, then I have to depart to the realm of the dead. I know that I am ruining everyone's fun right now, but I can't let you all think that I have a future after we defeat Ra's."

All were silent. Zatanna spoke up.

"What if we don't try to defeat Ra's?" She said, looking around at everyone, "I mean, he's been around for about 2,000 years and hasn't done anything, who's to say he really will now?"

"It's not that simple." Khonshu said, taking control of my body to speak to the Titans. His tone was grim.

"I am Khonshu, the Arbiter of Death. When Danny died, our souls were separated, but we were able to reunite and come back to this body. Both of us currently occupy one consciousness. I can take control and explain for you all."

"Ra's believes that I, Khonshu, have died for good. Before, I was the only thing that Ra's feared. He is scared of death, and I am the only one who can bring him to the grave due to ancient forbidden magics that he has used to keep himself immortal. Now that he thinks I am dead, gone forever from this mortal plane, he can execute his plan without fear. That is why I know that he will do something now. He is too powerful to simply ignore."

Everyone was confused. They were all wondering if I'd lost my mind. Everyone, that is, except for Meg and John Constantine.

"He's telling the truth." Meg spoke up, "it is hard to explain, but there are two consciousnesses in Danny's head. The person speaking is Khonshu, and he's right. I saw it in Danny's memories when we were alone."

"If you all need someone to second that, I can as well," Constantine added, "I've dealt with enough possessions to know that there are two people in his head."

"I've said what I needed to say." Khonshu finished, "I am going to relinquish control back to Daniel. You can ask him any questions you may have."

I felt control come back. I felt light headed and fell to my knees. Meg ran over to me, hugging me and helping me to my feet.

No one had the chance to ask any questions. An alert came into the Tower. It was from Superman. The League of Shadows headquarters in San Francisco had been found. We had to hurry.

The Titans loaded into the Batwing, and we headed off
