(Part 4)
"Seems nobody is home... Perhaps. Perhaps not?"
This from Shure-Lock, after he and Johnny look
around the Moor House manor for a while. Aye.
Suddenly, while they are near a picture window
of the front downstairs entertaining room, a very
bright light shines a few seconds, from the Moors.
"God almighty... What in all blue blazes was that?"
said Johnny then. Ohms was also perplexed here.
Before the two could explore the second building
on the property... They rushed outside and then
hurried nearby the moor and lakeside, and a small
winding path that led to a murky bog. The sharp
and peaty smell was quite strong even though the
bog was not too close. The gray sky was cloudy.
#
"Tommy... What do you make of this. A clue?"
Junior had picked up a white rose from off the
ground. Then a short trail of more clean white
roses littered the ground, leading up to a group
of some type of manufactured rods... Likely a
new design of lightning rod or grounding pole.
At least to the eyes of The Electrical Detective.
Ohms then got out his small frequency device:
one to detect disturbances in the local electric
or magnetic flux, especially ones invisible. Aye!
#
Right away Shure-Lock's small detector did now
register something... There within this area or
field of these highly unusual metal poles about.
"What do you think is going on here, Tommy?"
asked an ever-curious John 'Junior' right away.
"I'm not sure... Can you smell something now?
A slightly sharp, metallic type of odor in the air."
"Yes, now that you mention it, Tommy. I do. Aye."
Without any warning, a spike of energy lashes out
at Ohms... Knocking his hand-held device from his
hands. And briefly giving Ohms the shock of his Life!
#
Even more of a shock was what occurred next. A voice.
"Got you, Ohms... You want me... Come in and get me!"
The voice was slightly high of pitch. Maybe due to an
effect of the energy-collecting or inducing metal poles.
Tommy looks at Johnny, giving a slightly curious look.
"Yes, my friend... That voice was that of Bantham. Aye!
I am forming an opinion... About this field of metallic
poles. Perhaps they are related to a new theory I have
read about in a recent journal. Of harmonic field density.
And of how high energy might influence local Space-Time.
Perhaps Doctor Bantham has pierced the veil... of Reality?"
Ohms then looks across the field of rods. Picks up his device
off the ground and then points it here... Then points it there.
Searching and questing. And wondering if Bantham really is
close at hand... Just, somehow... In another dimension? Aye!
#
"You will never have her... Ohms! Not if I can help it!"
The voice was sounding more and more hysterical. Yes.
"Are you in there, Bantham. Show yourself. I dare you!"
An electrical blue spark or beam shot out from the field and
hit near Shure-Lock's feet, striking the ground, burning the soil.
"Come on in, the air is fine. Come on in, and let's have some gin!"
Then Bantham let out a menacing and maniacal laugh. A round of it.
#
"Don't chance it Tommy... Who knows what that demon doctor is up to?"
said a very concerned, and yes, very cautious and worried friend: Junior.
"If only I can get an exact bearing on the direction... His voice. Of... Him!"
replies Tommy, walking closer to the border of the Lightning Wand pole field.
Just as Ohms soon exclaimed: "Yes, Johnny... He's right there. Very close!"
a hand and arm... and nothing more... Reaches out and grabs Ohms' coat.
And then pulls Shure-Lock into the field within. Suddenly, Ohms is gone!
(To be continued... Aye!)
