Star Trek: The Family Sarek

Summary: Captain and dutiful daughter/loyal sis, Michael Burnham has returned from the future. (Just a bit of fun)

Vulcan 2263...

Where about as joyous a celebration of safe homecoming as Vulcans can permit was underway...Decorously hidden at the villa of Ambassador Sarek, from all others, naturally.

Amanda and Sybok at least offering a degree of emotional warmth as Sarek, Spock, and Michael calmly exchange good wishes on Michael's safe return on her ship USS Discovery from 900 years in the future.

Naturally, Starfleet temporal directives forbidding her from offering any information on what she'd witnessed in that future or what she'd learned of events prior to that time, in the relative future.

Shit...

Come on, Michael tried to control her thoughts while calming discussing current events with Father Sarek.

I gotta warn my brother his engagement is going to hit serious rocks. Cautious but cool glance his way...Spock returning look.

On the other hand, Ta'Pring must be one awful b-ch to want Spock dead or in prison. And then there's that thing with an old Spock disappearing into a temporal vortex while trying to save Romulus from destruction. They'd calculated he'd likely generated a new timeline doing that. What was that like? Though quite disturbing that the temporal boys figured a 73% chance of Vulcan being destroyed in it.

Then there's Sybok...She eyes him. Well, it went pretty much how I figured with him. Ego as big as God's encountering another ego as big as God's. If I warned him, he'd just find another way. And I don't encourage dictators- augments, evil mirrors of old mentors, or telepaths. Best to leave that as it goes and let Time sort it out.

Spock eyeing Michael cautiously...

Sis? What the heck is it you're obviously dying to violate Starfleet protocols to tell me?

And Dad...If you crack that slight smile at her again, I don't know how I'll keep it in myself. I've never seen you so wildly emotional.

Almost makes me think you liked her best.

"Oh, Michael...It is so good to have you back safe!" Amanda, embracing her. "Indeed it is..." Sybok, offering rather disturbingly (to Spock and Sarek) warm smile.

"Well, it was an interesting time. Sorry I can't discuss it." Michael noted.

The hell with that...Soon as I can get Spock alone...

"Of course. And while my wife and elder son are tiresomely emotional in their over-effusive expressions of happiness at your return, my daughter..." Sarek, frowning at both wife and son in turn... "I will express my contentment at your having safely returned after considerable accomplishment which of course we cannot discuss."

But I know all about, being so highly placed in the government...And Godsdamn, am I proud of my baby girl! Who made Captain even after being court-martialed!

I may not love Starfleet as a career for my kids, but...Way to go, girl!

"Father, your thoughts betray you." Sybok noted.

"There is no need to be rude, Sybok." Sarek, slight glare. "Your desire to have emotional expression increased in our culture does not allow you the right to probe and especially not to express in public the private thoughts of others."

Not to mention it's quite annoyingly smug to so show off your telepathic prowess...

And non-Vulcanians say logic-embracing Vulcans are arrogant.

"This is why I left Vulcan, embraced piracy outside charted space, and wound up in a prison hospital for years..." Sybok sighs. "But I suppose you're right...You're entitled to your privacy, my father. But Michael should know you're proud of her."

"I have expressed myself on that subject." Sarek, solemnly. Slightest crack of smile...

"He truly has, brother Sybok." Michael notes.

"Sybok..." Amanda sighs.

"Yes, I know that I remain the 'black Vulcan sheep' of the family." Sybok nods. "Well, at least let me say how pleased I am that you're back, Michael. I hope the traumas of the future were not too troubling."

Or that my reign as Galactic Guardian of all will have ended all such...

"Brother...You embarrass our sister and our father." Spock notes, quietly.

"I also sense an emotional tension between you and Michael, Spock. She knows of your personal future and I presume is, as the human expression goes, 'dying to tell you', but no doubt will await a time when our father is occupied.'' Sybok, shrugging. "But I will pursue this no further at this time." Nod, raising hand in formal gesture.

"Thank you, brother." Michael notes.

I also gotta get the lowdown on this thing of yours with that Jim Kirk, Spock...One fine looking fellow, I must say, even if he overcompensates by trying to nail everything female in his sights. And correct that little error in history where you never gave him my number, Michael thinks.

I mean, that's one likely pleasant way to prevent your rather awful break-up with Ta'Pring and maybe keep you from going off to Romulus later. I know she'd never allow it as Mrs. Spock.
