"This is wonderful news," Alex's mother Elizabeth said her excitement plain on her face and in her tone.
"Yes it is," John agreed, actually smiling
"Despite parental pressure, which nearly threw me off dating or getting married at all," Alex told them frowning. "Dave and I have agreed to have a child right away and I hope that happens right after our wedding, but we'll have to see."
"I've always wanted children and I know Alex has to no matter how much unnecessary pressure you put on her," Dave told them.
"We were only trying to encourage you dear," Elizabeth said. "You didn't seem interested in settling down."
"It wasn't that I wasn't interested mom, it was just that nobody ever clicked with me well enough for them to propose or for me to fall in love," Alex said. "Things have changed so much from when you were young. I know very well that you want grandchildren and while I don't blame you for that desire, I didn't appreciate you putting all that pressure on me. I could've adopted if I hadn't met Dave, just as you adopted me when you found me practically on your doorstep."
"Never thought of that," John admitted. "It was just in my day most people married, women in particular. I'm sorry if we put all that undue pressure on you Alex, but at the time your mother and I thought it was the only way."
"Don't think I don't realize that dad, but I was thinking that if my relationship with Dave didn't work out for whatever reason that was, I was willing to give up my inheritance completely and move somewhere else entirely. Somewhere far away. I can get a job at any university that has a linguistics department."
John slumped down after hearing that Alex was willing to give up her inheritance that he had been withheld because she'd never married. His daughter telling him that he was willing to give up her inheritance entirely, so that she wouldn't be forced into marriage made him realize that's exactly what he had been doing. It had seemed like the only option at the time to have those men over for dinner see if his daughter took an interest.
"It's in the past and I understand in your generation that marriage was more of a requirement, then just an option, particularly in your social set," Alex said. "However, I am a modern girl and perfectly capable of working, but since Dave and I are going to tie the knot well, I no longer have to move far away, just to get out of Los Angeles," Alex said. "I'm grateful that I went to the Rathbones party, because Eliza begged me too. It was right after you dropped the bomb that I was adopted and I wasn't in the mood for that kind of event. I know I wouldn't have met Dave otherwise and that would've been a tragedy."
"Something I definitely agree with," Dave said smiling speaking for the first time in awhile. "I'm looking forward to those children and I'm hoping we have more than one, but we'll have to see how it goes."
"I hope you have at least two or three," Elizabeth spoke up. "It was a tragedy that it turned out I was infertile or at least that John and I weren't compatible enough to have children. There was absolutely nothing the doctors could do and we went to quite a few before we found Alex. If we hadn't found Alex on our doorstep we never would've thought about adopting, as it just wasn't something that family like ours did."
"If I have my way I'll have at least half a dozen," Alex said, "even though I know I'm older now we'll see how it goes."
"You'll have to have them back to back if you do have that many simply because you are older," Elizabeth said and Alex nodded.
"I know, but Dave has enough money to hire plenty of help so that I'm not run ragged."
"Yes, I do and we'll hire three or four nannies if we have to because I am the last of my line just as Alex is. While I don't necessarily care if my line continues that doesn't mean I don't love children."
Alex knew Dave well enough to know that he spoke the pure truth. Yes, he wanted children, but he didn't necessarily care if his line continued into the future. Alex suspected that this was a mindset of most sidhe. Yes, the Seelie loved children, but not for the same reason a lot of humans wanted them
"That can wait until after the wedding though," Alex assured her parents. "You can do the planning mom and I'll help. I'll leave it mainly to you, since I have my job after all, I won't have as much time as you will it'll go faster if you do the bulk of it."
"Oh a wedding to plan," Elizabeth said excitedly clapping her hands together. "I haven't planned such an event, since I did my own more years ago than I care to recall and that is for my only daughter just makes it extra special."
"Just make sure you invite the Rathbones, particularly Eliza," Alex requested. "Dave and I wouldn't've gotten together but for her."
"I'll supply whatever money you need," John spoke up. "I never thought I'd be walking my daughter down the aisle, so this is a very happy day for me and the possibility of grandchildren..."
Dave and Alex said nothing about how hard it was for a sidhe to have children because the elder Blakes knew nothing about Seelie at all. Dave was hoping that Alex would get pregnant easier than usually happened for his kind, but he'd have to see. That should be the case simply because Alex was probably only part Seelie, but should be and would be were two totally different things.
"Can you to stay for dinner?" Elizabeth asked.
Alex looked to Dave who nodded, as they had no other plans. it would be rude not to stay for dinner unless they did really have plans.
"We'd love to," Dave said. "Alex and I had no other plans and I was just going to take her back to her apartment and then head home."
"We do have plans for tomorrow night, as Dave's taking me to the theater to see the new play that is showing," Alex said.
"Shakespeare is always popular and Macbeth is a classic," Dave said.
"Elizabeth and I have seen it several times at different theaters with different casts over the last 30 years," John agreed. "You're right it is a classic and I've heard the actors that play in the parts this time are supposed to be really good."
"It has everything action, drama, political intrigue and tragedy," Elizabeth added.
"I've read the play in the original script format but I've never actually been to see it performed," Alex said.
"You'll enjoy it," John told his daughter. "Some things are just very enduring and Shakespeare's plays are one of those things."
Dave didn't mention that he'd actually met Shakespeare back when the man had still been alive, as that had been centuries ago.
Dinner was announced just then and everybody headed for the dining room. Alex and Dave sat side by side while the elder Blakes sat at one end of the table.
Everybody enjoyed their food very much once it was served and there was a lot of talk about the upcoming wedding going on throughout the meal.
~~~Dave and Alex~~~
Months later
"The wedding was beautiful, your mother has good taste," Dave told Alex. "Unlike me she can't just ken something into being so long as she's seen it once."
"So we should probably get started on those children now that we are finally wed," Alex said.
It was just over six months later and Elizabeth Blake had made the arrangements really quickly, as both she and John really wanted those grandchildren.
"Before we do get started I just want you know I have put up extra protection around this building just in case something happens when we consummate our relationship. Nobody can get into this building, particularly into my home without my permission."
"Do you think something will happen?" Alex asked.
"Not necessarily, this is just a precaution," Dave said. "Dug and I have talked a lot and we just think it's a possibility that whatever illusion was put on you will be broken the minute we consummate our relationship. Nothing else has worked that we've tried."
Alex knew this to be true as Dave and Dug had tried multiple ways to break the illusion that she was under and had not succeeded. Whatever spell had been used was strong Dave told her and he didn't want to tell too many people about it, as word might get around and put her in danger. The illusion had been put on her for a reason. While they could guess and probably be pretty accurate, as to that reason that didn't mean she could be dangerous if too many people heard what they were trying to do.
Dave and Dug and then discussed that perhaps consummating the relationship after the wedding would break the illusion. Alex had been rather embarrassed to have such a thing discussed with somebody who was mostly a stranger to her, but she did understand that Dave trusted Dug's opinion and so had said nothing. She was looking forward to getting to know Dughill better.
Dave may technically be Dug's liege lord, but they were still friends so long as Dug didn't forget his place.
"I know I was there when you and Dug discussed that option," Alex reminded Dave.
"Yes, you were," Dave agreed, even as he picked Alex up and took her towards the master suite, which Alex had never been in before.
There was a very large bed waiting on them and Alex practically swooned at the sight and that wasn't like her at all. The bed was massive and had probably been kenned from something Dave had seen many centuries ago. The bed had massive posts with medieval designs carved into the wood and there was a canopy with heavy curtains that would allow you to sleep late if you wanted to, because no sun was going to penetrate so long as they were closed.
"That bed is a work of art," Alex said, even as Dave put her down in the middle. "They don't make them like this anymore."
Dave banished both their clothes with a wave of his hand and Alex saw him naked for the first. She was entranced with the Dave's muscled form and it was a clear he was a warrior, as there were several scars along his chest.
Meanwhile, Dave was looking at Alex with lust and adoration in his expression, even while his manhood stood tall and proud. Dave's penis was very engorged and it was clear he found her attractive.
"I've been waiting for this day ever since I proposed," Dave told her, even as he got out the bed and rolled over on top of her naked form. "When Dug had that vision I knew you were going to end up changing my life.
"You certainly changed my life," Alex told him, even as she kissed him on the lips, as he was on top of her.
Dave immediately accepted the kiss and took control of it and soon he was kissing Alex all over her body nibbling on her breasts and soon moved lower.
It wasn't long at all before Dave entered her passage for the first time and it seemed like only seconds before he was spurting his seed into her. There was a flash of light as soon as he did so and Alex's appearance changed instantly.
She still looked like Alex, but with some differences her dark eyes were now more violet and her eyes were slanted upwards slightly. As for her ears they were now pointed like Dave's and also slightly slanted backwards. Her face had changed the most and it now had a slightly alien cast like Dave's, although her skin was the same color as before as well as her hair. Alex also felt something blossom within her, the power that Dave had claimed she had was coming to life in her body.
"Looks like Dug and I were right," Dave said, as he gazed down at the gorgeous woman that he had just married.
"My appearance changed didn't it?" Alex asked.
"Yes, it did and now you look like I do with similar features, except female," Dave said. "I also felt your power blossom outwards, as soon as we consummated our relationship. Your power awakening would have been felt in Underhill, as it was quite powerful."
"I felt that myself and I'm sorry I doubted you," Alex said, even as she took Dave's face in her hands and gently lowered it so she could kiss him passionately. "We can worry about my changed appearance and my emerging powers later. Unless there an emergency I want you to get back to what you were doing."
"Gladly," Dave agreed with a massive grin. "It will be my pleasure my lady, I promise you."
Dave immediately got back to what he was doing and they were undisturbed for the rest of the night.
It was certainly a night to remember.
