"Big Hero 6 was in trouble. Their greatest enemies had teamed up and they had captured Captain Cutie." Domino twitched an ear as he heard the oldest child of his humans narrate on her computer. Karmi did like to read aloud when she was writing. "Without their leader, Big Hero 6 was left sitting defenseless as the monsters ravaged the city. How could they win against such impossible odds?"

I feel as if she's setting up for a dramatic entrance. Domino wondered. He often watched as Karmi read aloud her story, and she always put an emphasis on the tense situation before going to the fun part of a chapter.

Then on cue, Karmi changed her voice when she was narrating a speaking role. "'You're in luck Big Hero 6!' The heroes looked up as a familiar figure dressed as a heroine appeared at the scene. 'I am… Lab Lady!'"

And there it is. Domino stretched his neck up to see if Karmi was going to put a drawing, she did help paint a picture in the reader's minds by putting little drawings of intense scenes.

Sure enough, a drawing of a small Karmi in blue superhero gear was standing atop a building, with heroes standing in awe and the villains evil glares as the captives cried tears of joy. "Annnd posted!" She shook it off to immediately post the story, the "to be continued" in big letters at the end. "Well, I managed to update my fic before we went up to Canada."

"Great job." Domino barked. He knew Karmi couldn't understand him like Haley and Ryan, but he knew she was smart enough to pick up on what he was trying to say.

She smiled at Domino, who had been helpful in finishing this climactic chapter. He had reacted when she was going through the rough drafts of the chapter, and that made the finished product a masterpiece based on his reactions to certain scenes. "Thanks, Dom. You're good at giving reader feedback, most people just call my story 'unoriginal' or complain someone is shipping themselves with Captain Cutie again. At least I don't ship him with his older teammates." Karmi scrunched her face at the thought. "Isn't that weird?"

"I guess if you say so." He twitched an ear. "I don't know why it's bad."

Karmi picked up his confused look. "Well, Captain Cutie is my age, and his teammates are probably older than my classmates at SFIT." Domino nodded in understanding. "Glad you got it, there are weird people out there Dom."

"I believe that." Domino felt his claws dig into the blankets as he thought about the cruel human who had owned the house he was born into

Claude, she was the reason he couldn't stand being in small places, for keeping him, his littermates, and so, so many of his breed trapped in that small house.

His birth mother, Lillian, was no better, she often neglected to feed or care for him when he got into scrapes for the smallest bits of food and just cared about having pups rather than actually mothering them. Don't think about that Dom. He shook his head from his thoughts. It's like Diggs always says, it's in the past now, you're in the present, where they can't hurt you.

But… he wasn't lying if he missed some of his littermates. There was one of his unnamed brothers, his closest littermate of them all, and his other brother Diamond protected them from the Dimitrio's teeth.

What snapped the pup out of his thoughts from the past was Karmi gently scooping him up as she closed her laptop and placed it in her bag.

"C'mon, we should help Mom and Dad pack. I'm sure Haley and Ryan could use you to help starve off their boredom." Karmi told him. They were going up to Canada soon, since her parents wanted them to take a break away from home. Diggs also told him that they were planning on going on another trip, Domino didn't care, he was excited to see new places.

"I bet they would!" He did love playing with Haley and Ryan, and he also loved hanging with Karmi, now that she wasn't busy at college all the time anymore.

The Khans were like his family, they took him in, cared for him, and showed him what a normal household was like.

Sure, he missed his littermates, who had gone to England to some nicer homes, but at least Haley and Ryan allowed him to say his goodbyes before he had gone home with them.

They were the ones who took him home and let him say goodbye to his littermates, who were going to be placed in a home somewhere in England.

Well, wherever my littermates are, I'm sure they're doing well with their humans. Domino had hoped, just as well as he was doing with his.

"IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!"

DJ cracked open a brown eye as he heard his older brother bark out doomsday.

Oh dear. While normally DJ would shrug off Dante's predictions, the black-furred dalmatian was usually spot on when it came to most misfortunes.

Next to him, Da Vinci yawned. "Aw, I hope Desiree didn't give him any ideas about Clarissa trying to infect us with fleas again." His artsy sister scratched one of her big ears as she sat up out of bed.

"Me neither." He was one of the few pups who barricaded himself in the storage closet alongside Da Vinci as their older siblings tried figuring out what they were going to do.

So as they trotted downstairs, there was already a crowd of pups listening to Dante's every word. "Beware! I've seen it, one of us is going to bring a human that will cause the end of our family!"

The pups gasped, chattering among themselves.

"Do you think it'll be Clarissa's mean human butler?" One of his siblings, Disco, whispered to Doris.

"That ol' clown can't do anything." The green-eyed pup shook her head, her paws adjusting her loose green bandana.

"Maybe it's Hunter?" Donut suggested.

"Don't even bring up that guy! I still get nightmares!" Desmond scrunched her nose at her sister.

Da Vinci and DJ exchanged looks. "So what do you think?" His sister raised an eyebrow. "Dante had a bad dream or he actually saw something?"

"Hm, I mean he's not wrong about the human part. Dylan did lead Hunter here…" DJ had been a young pup when the strange boy had vacuumed the family up, so he didn't really remember anything except fear and terror. "I think he has a point to be wary, some of our siblings trust humans too much."

The conversation with the pups was cut-off as one of the eldest siblings walked into the room. "Okay, okay, break it up!" Dylan barked at everyone. "Dante, cool it with the prophecy junk, you're gonna scare the pups."

"Scare them?" Dante's blue eyes glared. "I'm trying to warn our siblings about the upcoming threat!"

Dolly then walked into the room. "Like you warned them about the supposed doom yesterday?"

"In my defense, a human throwing a football is scary!"

Dax, the pup who had gotten hit with said football, barked in agreement. "It was really scary…" Poor Dax had been playing with his littermates Declan and Donburi when the incident occurred.

"I mean it!" Dylan growled, brown eyes flashing with annoyance. "We get the picture. Now can you stop so the pups can have breakfast-"

"Breakfast?" DJ's ear perked up.

"Breakfast!" Dax and Disco wagged their stubby tails.

"BREAKFAST!" The pups bolted into the kitchen to feast on the bowls of kibble awaiting them.

Dolly rolled her eyes at poor Dylan who got trampled. "Trigger word." She hummed in amusement.

Dylan replied with a grumble of annoyance and exhaustion.

DJ's place at the kitchen table was in-between one of Da Vinci's littermates Dobie, and Dafydd, who was one of Dylan's littermates. "So." He looked at the two after eating a bit of his fill. "What are you guys doing today?"

"Watering the daisies Diesel helped me plant." Dafydd barked.

"I'm gonna steal Dylan's book on Pluto." They gave Dobie a look. "What? He hogs all the good space books! Someone's gotta tell the space nerd to share his stuff, at least Dolly shares her skateboard with Dorothy and the little pups."

DJ could internally agree, Dylan did make his own treehouse just to keep his own stuff away from the family. "Yeah but is stealing the right way to go?"

Dobie shrugged before going back to her meal. "Maybe you could ask the Dimitrio to get it for-" Dafydd paused at his growl from the mention of the troublemaking triplets. "Sorry."

"You know I don't like them!" DJ grumbled. "I don't know why Dolly and Dylan let those tail-biters loose. You know what they do to the mailman, what if they got their paws on Dorothy or Diana!"

"Hey, they've changed from the pups in that human house you were stuck in." Dobie lifted her muzzle from her bowl to defend the trio. "Doris, Ditto, Dakota, and even Diamond gave them a chance, why can't you?"

I hate it when my sisters are right. "Most of them are too nice, Diana and Disco are too young and Dakota is crazy." DJ pointed out. "I just can't forgive them for how they treated me and Domino."

"You don't have to forgive them, but you could at least not nip at their heels when they're in the same room as you." Dafydd told him. "If Mom and Dad have to give you guys another talk about getting along, I think the Dimitrio is gonna start reenacting it."

"Oh dog, that's a nightmare to think about." DJ snorted, with the three going back to their meals in silence.

You had to bring up Dom in your conversation. DJ winced at the thought of his littermate, Domino had been adopted by humans. The two human children, one with red eyes and one with blue eyes had let Domino say goodbye, but DJ missed his brother more than anything. He could live without biscuits or squeaky toys, but he couldn't live without his family.

But Domino was back in the states, and wherever he was, DJ hoped that his brother was okay.
