"That could have gone better." Emma looked at the mess in the parlour.

"I told you we should have done this on a day when the nanny wasn't visiting her sister."

"I thought the nursemaid would be able to handle both of them."

Mr. Knightley smiled. "She is quite young."

"Still," she sighed, "I didn't expect that he would get out of the nursery quite as quickly as he did."

"He's an active boy, he needs exercise."

"Well, I suppose so."

"It's not a bad thing," he reminded her.

"Fine, but now, I need to write a letter of apology."
