Hello to all!
I hope you are all well.
I would like to share with you my first vampire knight fiction. English is not my native language, so please be kind to me. I don't have a particular rhythm for publishing chapters but I try to write one or two chapters a day so I don't get behind. But I have other fiction I'm writing at the moment.
Enjoy your reading!
Chapter 1 : The first day of school

The sumptuous room was lit by the half-light of the full moon. The silver rays coming through the window which was not closed were reflected on a large mirror in the room. Outside, the trees were moving as if in a wild dance under the violent winter winds.
A snowstorm was about to come.
A little silver-haired boy curled up on his bed with his head under his duvet and opened his eyes violently when he heard the thud of something coming from the corridor.
They were arguing again, the boy thought.
The silver-haired boy got up from his bed and carefully put his ear to the door to better hear the discussion between his parents.
He could hear his mother's calm and beautiful voice. But this time she sounded shaky
-Why did you sign this contract?
-Don't you know that this will bring us problems?
Zero felt a sense of irritation in his mother's voice. It was the first time he had heard that tone from her.
-Yes honey, I had no choice but to protect the children and our clan
What are they talking about?
Why did daddy want to protect us?
- We must preserve our clan at all costs even if we have to cooperate with the devil and fight against our allies.
Master Kiryû...
Voices
Master Kiryû, you must kill them ...
Where am I?
Zero.
Zero!
What's up?
- Wake up!" a voice shouted from the darkness.
He suddenly opened his eyes and came face to face with Toga Yagari, his adoptive father.
oh no, not that
-You fell asleep on the garden lawn again and it's been five hours since your classes started. Five hours, you understand! If I hadn't received the call from the headmaster you'd still be here, lying on the grass.
He huffed loudly to show his displeasure and added:
-So you forgot that it was your first day of school at Cross Academy. You're a new student and from the first day you already want to be noticed. And even if you have to go to school at 8pm, I can guarantee that you'll go because from today you'll be spending your nights there, I've paid for you to sleep in the dormitory.
Zero just listened to his father's words with a distant ear. He had been so exhausted lately when he wasn't doing much of anything except... Sleeping. And let's not talk about those nightmares that made every time they closed their eyes.
Maybe he needed to keep digging into his dreams, he felt like he was getting closer to a distant truth.
-Are you listening to me?
The silver-haired man snapped out of his thoughts and stared at Toga
- I understand and I'm going to school right now.
He didn't wait for the other's answer and walked nonchalantly to his room upstairs to put on his school uniform and pick up his bag.
The Cross Academy was only 15 minutes away from his house so he could afford to walk.
It had been two weeks since he had moved to Japan with his father. This country was not strange to him because he had been born here and had grown up until he was six years old in an orphanage in Tokyo before Toga, now his father, had adopted him and flown to England.
Besides, he didn't understand why the old man had decided to return to this country from one day to the next. It wasn't because he didn't appreciate Japan, it was because he had integrated well into the English culture and had many friends there. When he reached the hall of his house, he took the long step that led to his room. Zero's house was a luxurious mansion in the posh suburbs of Tokyo. The floor was made of marble and the walls were decorated with rare collections of artworks from the modern era. Zero had grown up with his father away from financial insecurity. He had servants at his service and could afford to spend astronomical sums on crazy things. In a few words, he had been spoiled by his father.
He went into his large bedroom, which was the size of a city flat, and took his school uniform, neatly folded on the bed, and wore it.
When he had finished buttoning his jacket he went to the mirror in his room and examined himself carefully.
To tell the truth he hadn't changed that much... His hair was still so silvery, although at 17 it had grown to his shoulders.
He had big purple eyes that shone like the midday sun in the dark night.
- Why did you sign that contract?
This sentence kept coming back to him. He was sure he had heard it from someone very close to him, but from whom...
- Zero!
He turned sharply and met his father's dark eyes in the doorway.
- Hurry up, you're already late and don't make it worse for yourself," he hissed.
- I had finished getting dressed, the old man. Toga gritted his teeth at that name and I was about to go out.
- I asked the driver to accompany you as I would be sure you had arrived at the right destination
- You didn't have to bother, I could walk there. The school is 15 minutes away.
- And I don't care. You shouldn't have fallen asleep in the garden and called me the old man.
And with that sentence he left and zero followed him in anger.
He was late and on top of that he would be noticed by coming to class in a car with a driver. Even though his adoptive father was very rich he did not like to show off his wealth.
He got into the black sedan that was waiting for him in the front yard of his home and waved goodbye to his father.
As the old man had said, the school was not far from his house and he drove no more than five minutes to the entrance of the academy. It was 5pm. He had missed everything about the day, his first meeting with his new class, his first lunch in the canteen with his friends and his first lesson with his new teachers. Besides, he didn't care...
He didn't want to socialise in this new school because he was too old for that. The sound of the car's engine brought him out of his thoughts and reminded him that he had to enter this place.
He took the path in front of him as there were no signs to show him which way to go to his dormitory.
The sun was setting and the sky had taken on an orange colour making the atmosphere warm. The rustling of the leaves lulled the path like a nursery rhyme. The boy was finally enjoying the delay as he was walking to his dormitory alone and he loved the solitude.
He was whistling a song that his father used to sing to him when he was little when suddenly he heard screams coming from his right, his curious nature insisted on going towards these noises. Even though he was late, he had missed all the events of the day so it wasn't going to matter if he was 30 minutes late.
He started to run. Maybe someone was in danger. Zero had always been brave, much to his father's chagrin. As a child he had a knack for getting into complex situations and once it almost cost him his life. The orange sky had turned grey, night was coming, so he had to hurry to help this person.
However, Zero arrived at a crowd of girls shouting names that he could not quite make out. The crowd was held back by a young girl with brown hair. She was wearing the same black uniform with a red tie as he was. He could see that she had to hold them back with her small frame. He was a polite person so he went to stand beside the girl to support her.
- Who are you?" the brunette girl asked surprised by Zero's presence.
- Do you want me to help you hold these crazy girls back or not," the boy replied fiercely.
He's never been gentle with people, especially women. And his cold and distant nature didn't help him get close to girls. In fact, as soon as he came within sight of the crowd, all the girls stopped shouting and looked at him. He was now the centre of attention of these crazy girls and he hated it.
He was about to shout at them when he was interrupted by the creaking of the barrier behind him. He turned to see a group of white-clad youths consisting of five boys and two girls. Zero admitted to himself that he found them all handsome and elegant. He understood why the crowd was screaming like a guinea fowl. But his gaze remained locked on the figure of the tall, dark-haired man who was leading the group like a guide. A shiver ran through him as the man turned his head to look at him. Zero looked away from the man to the student next to him. The girl smiled warmly at the dark haired man. Zero didn't notice when the tall man stood in front of him, towering over him by 7 centimeters.
- Good evening my dear Yuki, can you introduce me to the student next to you?
So her name is Yuki.
- I...I don't know who Kaname is," Yuki answered hesitantly.
Kaname...why does that name sound so familiar...
- What is your name?" Kaname asked Zero. Zero looked up and met the Brown's scarlet eyes.
A vampire?" wondered Zero. His eyes are now red like the vampires'. It's not possible, but before, they were brown like his hair. Besides, there's no such thing as vampires. I'm really tired, I should have insisted to the old man not to come to school today.
Zero remembered that he was still standing in front of Kaname and everyone, the boys in white uniforms and the crazy girls with Yuki were looking at him.
- Zero, whispered the silver-haired man. He didn't have to tell her his first name, but he had grown up in a country where politeness was paramount. Even when dealing with your enemies, you must always say hello.
- Nice to meet you Zero, I'm Kaname," he replied with a gentle smile. Nice to meet you.
- Master Kuran, we should get going. We're going to be late," said a young woman with blonde hair from the group in the white uniform. She stared darkly at Zero.
Master Kiryû...
Those voices come to mind again.
Master Kiryû, we must go home or you'll catch a cold.
Zero, who had a beautiful white skin, turned pale. He had a severe headache that took him out of his thoughts.
It hurts so much.
- Zero, are you okay? Yuki asked with a worried look on her face as she reached out her hand to the silver-haired man but he gently pushed it away and replied
- Yes. I have to go to the dormitory and this is the way?
- Take the path on your right and then the one on the left at the end of the path, you'll come across a large building, it's the male dormitory.
- Thank you.
With that last word, he left, taking care not to meet the eyes of the students dressed in white, but especially of Kaname.
