I got this request on Deviantart to do a Shaphne-esque remake of the first episode of "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo", by Helicopter297, and I decided 'why not? This could be a little fun.' Now, while I don't have all of the story details down and out yet, I did get a good portion of the story done, and figured, 'why not release the first of three parts now while the getting was good'? So... here's what I did. I decided to basically take the 'Oh Rhonda!'-route with this episode... look over the first episode of the show, then write it in the POV of a character from the show, giving out a few details here and there to give it its own spin. It's not much, but I'm glad to be going back to this route a bit, even for a short time! Plus, expect some Shaphne moments added in-between these parts!

So yeah, here is the first part of a three chapter story adapting the first episode of 'A Pup Named Scooby-Doo'... Shaphne style! Anyway, enjoy!

When you think of a mystery solving gang, who would you think of first and foremost? Well, some of you may think the Boxcar Children, or Nancy Drew, or the Dana Girls… maybe even the Five Find-Outers… very obscure, I know, but they were all amateur detectives, one way or another. Well, after those guys, I suppose you could say the Scooby-Doo Detective Agency was the next best thing. Run by our leader, Freddy, a young boy that still believes in aliens and the like (despite MY personal take), and being helpful in looking for clues is the shy, quiet kid that usually spoke up when spoken to, Velma Dinkley.

And of course, there was always my two best friends, the hearts of the groups, the 'despite their cowardice, they show their loyalty', Shaggy Rogers and a pup named Scooby-Doo. And what do I do for myself, you may ask? You could call me the 'pretty girl', the 'fashionista', the 'always makes sure to keep your friends on the right track' sort of girl. But my name? It's Daphne Blake, and I, no doubt, am the cutest, prettiest girl in the group.

All five of us together make the Scooby-Doo Detective Agency like I said before, and we formed it together one day because of our love for detective novels and helping our school out in solving our first mystery… which is a story I would love to talk about, but maybe another time. But the long and short of it is, we've managed to stuck thick and thin together and remain very good friends. We've solved a few good mysteries together, but there was one mystery where… I don't know, things started to change a little differently for me.

Anyway, Shaggy was working a job as a paperboy, delivering newspapers for the Daily Babbler to every house along his route. It pays good money, and it certainly helps in some finances for the Scooby-Doo Detective Agency. Sometimes, he even takes Scooby on his route, which I consider pretty adorable. But still, it was on one particular morning that Shaggy called all of us at our treehouse, where he explained the situation…

His bike had been stolen by an ugly swamp monster, according to his details. And he seemed rather upset by that fact as he told us how while he was preparing for his paper route, Scooby noted the creature stealing his bike and Shaggy saw the monster riding it away in the distance. He seemed really upset by this, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor guy.

"Well, Shaggy, I'm glad to see you're taking this stolen-bike stuff like a man."

I lowered my eyelids as I glared at Freddy, who made the remark. "Take it easy on him, Freddy. If your bike was stolen by somebody, you'd be upset too."

"It wasn't just any old bike, though. It was a cherry 1959 Starfire Special, and it's gone! Gone forever!" Shaggy whimpered as Fred and Scooby stared at him with closed-lidded eyes.

I couldn't stand seeing Shaggy acting like this, so I did what I could as I got up (whilst Velma pulled out her lucky magnifying glass) and got him up. "Come on, Shaggy, it's not gone. We can still find it. I mean, we're the Scooby-Doo Detective Agency, remember? We can totally find your bike. Plus, it wouldn't do you any good if you just laid down and cried…"

Shaggy took a few deep breaths as he looked over at me, feeling slightly calm. "Y-you're right, you're right. I'm sorry, it's just been happening so fast…"

"Come here, you big teary-eyed softie." I said as I pulled him close, as I could sense Scooby slightly rolling his eyes a bit as I hugged the young man. Before releasing Shaggy, I decided to ponder. "The real question is, why would anybody want your bike?"

"Rit was a rhost!" Scooby said as he started to mimic what he saw. "A rig rhost! A RARY RHOST! ROAR, ROAR "RI RANT RIS RIKE", ROAR, ROAR!"

We just stared at Scooby in pure bewilderment as Freddy then asked, "But why would a ghost steal Shaggy's bike?"

I gave a slight roll of the eyes, as if Freddy REALLY needed an answer to this question. "Oh please, Freddy, be real. I've said this in the past few mysteries, and I'm saying it here and now, there are no such things as ghosts and monsters."

I mean, was I WRONG in my assumption before? Don't get me wrong, I would MORE than likely be happily proven wrong, but from what we've been up against so far, we've met a lot of monsters. Yeah, everybody thought they were real, but they were really nothing more than people in masks. It was a person in a mask in our first mystery, it was more people in masks in our next mysteries, and it's likely a person in a mask this mystery. Needless to say, I had my doubts.

"Well, if it isn't a monster, then who would take my bike?" Shaggy asked in curiosity.

"Reah, who?" Scooby asked.

"A very interesting question…" Velma said as we turned to her. "Shaggy, do we have any enemies that want to steal your bike?"

The young Shaggy paused as he tried to think. "Well… no, I can't seem to think of any enemies… at least, not to my knowledge… in fact, I think Scoob and I made our reputation by trying NOT to make enemies." Shaggy explained.

"And you do such a good job." I smiled as I put my arm around Shaggy, giving a smile to him. "Why, I don't think anybody sees you OR Scooby as people that hate you… except maybe some people that we unmasked, and even then, they're mostly in jail."

"Reah, rou're right, Raphne!" Scooby nodded eagerly.

"It does make me feel a little better…" Shaggy said, a blush running on his face.

Velma paused briefly as she tapped her foot. "All right, well… I'm a bit stumped, I admit…"

Freddy, too, was in thinking mode as he snapped his fingers, a small smile creeping on his face. "Ah ha! Maybe you don't have enemies, but the Scooby-Doo Detective Agency ALWAYS has a rival!"

"Oh no…" All four of us groaned as Scooby rubbed his head.

"Yes, the answer to this mystery is obvious! Your bike was stolen by that no-good bully and thief, Red Herring!" Freddy said as he pointed to a picture of a familiar red headed boy wearing a white shirt and green vest combination with darts plastered on it.

"Oh for goodness sakes…" I groaned as I rubbed my head. "Freddy, you're the only person I know that has a personal problem with Red Herring. Velma doesn't have a problem with him, Shaggy and Scooby don't have a problem with him… *I* do not have a problem with him. If anything, you're only saying it's Red Herring because he keeps pushing you around and making fun of your little make-believe imagination. What makes you think it's him?"

"Well, what makes you think it isn't him? Think about it. He could have dressed up as a monster to scare Scooby and Shaggy away, stole the bike, and might be waiting in arms for us to come… in an attempt to bully us!" Freddy said, looking rather determined.

We all looked at each other with half-lidded eyelids as we couldn't help but roll our eyes. Velma gave a sigh as she shrugged. "Okay, Freddy, assuming your theory is correct… where would Red be going now?"

"Don't encourage him…" I groaned as I shook my head.

"Heh, luckily, I've been keeping a sharp eye on Red whenever we cross paths. At around nine in the morning, he always goes in an easterly direction, towards his little secret lair in Weirdo Woods." Freddy explained. "It's probably where he keeps his little monster disguise… and your bike, Shaggy!"

Shaggy looked at our 'faithful' leader in doubt, before giving a shrug. "If you think so…"

"Oh, I don't just 'think'... I know." Freddy smirked as he held up his finger. "I am the leader, after all!"

"Yeah, leader…" I rolled my eyes. Sure, Freddy does do good and means well… but his leadership skills were… fifty-fifty, at best. Fifty percent of the time, he does pretty good and helps with the mystery whenever he can… but the other fifty percent, he usually either has Martians or Red Herring on his mind, and won't stop until he's proven right at least once. If you ask me, I'd probably make a better leader…

Oh well. Guess that's where the ball rolls. Shaggy took a deep breath as he looked over at Freddy. "Well, if you think he may have got my bike… then let's go find him."

Freddy beamed at Shaggy's suggestion as he said, "Good idea, Shaggy. We'll catch the bully in the act AND humiliate him for causing us problems!"

"You problems. He's causing YOU problems." I grumbled as Freddy motioned for us to follow him out of the treehouse. Velma gave a nod as she followed, with Scooby right after, leaving me and Shaggy to follow the rear as I looked over at my friend.

"Shaggy, you can't possibly believe that Red Herring would possibly steal your bike." I said in annoyance.

"I personally don't, but what other thing do I have to go off of?" Shaggy asked.

I looked over at Shaggy, and gave a small sigh, before giving a smile as I squeezed his hand. "All right, come on, then. I guess we're going to see Freddy be wrong in his assumption, AS PER USUAL…"

"I mean, like, he has his heart in the right place." Shaggy chuckled nervously.

"Yeah, I know…" I sighed, looking over at Shaggy with a smile as we continued onwards.

Eventually, we managed to spot Red Herring himself as he was walking out of his home and just strutting along like he owned the place. We quickly dove into a nearby bush as we all jumped on Velma's back (much to her protesting eyes) as she carried all of us while walking the bush to sneak by, Freddy being her eyes as he navigated her legs closely. From the looks of it, Red Herring was acting more 'tough guy' than usual as, from what I could see, Red Herring was looking both ways to make sure nobody was following him.

"Here he goes…" Freddy whispered as he turned to us. "He's heading to his secret hideout in Weirdo Woods…"

"Zoinks, like, Weirdo Woods?" Shaggy yelped as he hugged himself nervously.

"Reirdo Roods?" Scooby repeated in worry as he clung onto Shaggy, both of them shaken out of their wits. Poor, sweet guys… always trembling in fear whenever they looked over the direction of strange and creepy places.

"You guys have nothing to worry about. It's just a forest with some…" I started to say before cringing a bit. "Swampy-like areas… ugh… do I even have the right boots for this?"

I looked down at my feet for a moment to check on my white go-go boots… my fashionable items that I like to wear and show off… ugh, why did I think putting these on today would be more than okay? If anything, it just invited more messes… I look back over at Shaggy and Scooby's frozen state and I felt my features soften, momentarily forgetting about my footwear. "Like I said, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about…"

"But, like, it's Weirdo Woods, one of the most creepiest of places in Coolsville! And Red Herring uses this place for a hangout?" Shaggy whimpered. "Believe you me, there's a reason Scoob and I NEVER approach anything with the words 'Weirdo' and 'Woods' combined together? Jellystone and Woods, fine. Cedar Woods, okay. Holly and Wood? Combine it into one word, and you get somewhere glamorous!"

"Reah! Ramorous!" Scooby said as he spun around and stopped, now wearing sunglasses while holding a large star that you would see in the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"But no, we're not going into those places. We're going into 'Weirdo Woods'." Shaggy held his head as the pup ditched the shades and star, causing me to giggle for a moment. "There is no way on Earth I'm going in there…"

"Come on, Shaggy, it's nothing to be afraid of. Besides, we won't be in here for long… just to get to Red Herring and get your bike back!" Freddy explained with a confident look on his face.

I rolled his eyes. "Freddy, I swear, I know you're trying to be a good leader and hero, but what if your little bias against Red Herring is wrong… AS PER USUAL?"

"This time, for sure!" Freddy grinned, looking as excited as a kid in a candy store… well, we're all kids, but you get the idea. "Now, come on, gang, let's make a search for Red Herring before he gives US the slip!"

We all looked at each other and nodded, before getting out of the bush and heading towards Weirdo Woods for ourselves, wondering what would happen next…

It wasn't too long before we five continued through Weirdo Woods… a darker part of the woods, if you will, where sunlight wasn't quite as visible… in fact, if you look around at the tall trees like I have, it felt closer to nighttime, despite the crime taking place early in the morning… and the time currently at 9 AM right now. Still, we weren't going to let the creepy side of the forest deter us. We would keep going forward, looking out for hide or hair of Red Herring… or in Scooby and Shaggy's view, that creepy monster they saw steal Shaggy's bike. As Freddy led the way, I decided to stick close to Shaggy, making sure he and Scooby were comfortable as I gave them my confident face… and my confident walk.

"This place is giving me the creeps…" I heard Shaggy say as Velma walked ahead of us, her magnifying glass out and about.

"Reah, the reeps…" Scooby agreed.

"Probably loaded with swamp monsters who grab your feet and suck you down into the goo…" Shaggy whimpered.

"Reah, the roo." Scooby nodded nervously.

I gave a small sigh and a smile as I looked back towards my two friends. "Don't be silly, you two. There's nothing to be afraid of…"

SQUISH!

I felt something on my feet as I looked down… I screamed in terror at the sight… which alerted Shaggy and Scooby nervously as Scooby shouted, "RIT'S THE RAMP RONSTER!"

All of a sudden, as if by instinct, Shaggy grabbed my hand and pulled me back, causing all three of us (Scooby jumped in Shaggy's arms as usual, but Shaggy had enough room to instinctively think of me and grabbed me away) fell on the ground, causing a bit of a pile, Scooby right on top of me as I had Shaggy down for the count, our faces looking at each other.

We blushed for a moment as Scooby freaked out again and jumped off as I stared at Shaggy for a bit, before snapping out of it. "Scooby, calm down, there's no swamp monster!"

"Rhere's rot?" Scooby stopped short as I got up off of Shaggy, letting my friend up as the boy brushed his shirt.

"No, it's…" I looked down again and yelped at the ghastly sight of my boots. "MUD! MUD ON MY BOOTS! AND THEY WERE BRAND NEW, TOO! EW, EW, EW, GET IT OFF, GET IT OFF!"

I could tell that everyone was looking at me with half-lidded eyes, but I didn't care at the moment as I tried to shake the mud off my boots. It was at that moment someone put a hand on my shoulder to stop me from freaking out. I turned to see Shaggy pulling out a cloth from his pocket as he bent down and began to wipe the mud off my boots. "There you go… deep breath, Daphne…"

I looked over at Shaggy, slightly embarrassed, but grateful to him for cleaning my boots off. I couldn't help but smile. "You always come through for me when I need it the most, Shaggy."

"Wouldn't want you to freak out over a mess-up on your boots." Shaggy said as he wiped the mud off, which started to relax me a little bit. "I swear, Daph, you hate getting dirty almost as much as Scooby and I hate swamp monsters."

"Reah…" Scooby chuckled a bit as I noted Freddy and Velma looking over, the former looking a little impatient, and the latter holding her magnifying glass in curiosity, before pulling out a book and writing something in it, before putting it back. I swear, I never know what Velma writes in that journal of hers…

"All right, you three, let's pick up the pace here. Red Herring isn't going to find himself, you know…" Freddy said as he turned around… before pausing briefly. "Wait… or could he? I admit, this is a bit of a stumper…"

As Freddy was standing there, thinking, Shaggy, Scooby and I noticed something emerging out of the mud behind our 'faithful' leader as I noted Scooby making weird, scared faces. I'll admit I was not any better as I could feel my eyes popping out of my head and my hair rising up to ridiculous levels.

"Freddy!" Shaggy shouted.

"What now, Shaggy?" Freddy asked in annoyance… before feeling the monster grab his feet. Freddy looked back and yelped as he noticed a large purple slimy creature with yellow eyes emerging. "Oh. I see what now."

As quick as a flash, Freddy kicked away the monster as he and Velma joined us as we were backed away into a corner, with Shaggy looking for a possible escape route. But the monster kept coming towards us… closer and closer… of course, I had a weird feeling it wasn't a monster, because I heard familiar laughing coming out from the monster's mouth.

And sure enough, I was right as the monster pulled off his mask and laughed. Of course Red Herring decided to pull off a scare. Because why not?

"Man, did I scare the slime out of you doofuses or what?!" Red Herring chuckled to himself as he tossed the monster head aside. "Man, you should have seen the looks on your faces!"

We all looked at Red Herring, honestly not impressed with the stunt he tried to pull as he gave a laugh. I crossed my arms in anger, shaking my head. "Red Herring, we should have known…"

"Heh, how could I not resist picking on you chumps… especially my FAVORITE little punching bag…" Red Herring chuckled as he eyed Freddy, the boy having an angry look on his face.

"All right, Red, the fun is over. We know you dressed up in that costume and stole Shaggy's bike." Freddy smirked as he crossed his arms.

I looked back and noted Shaggy and Scooby's looks of confusion as they looked over at Red Herring. They looked at me and shook their heads, giving me the confirmation I needed to know. All the while, Velma pulled out a metal detector from her backpack to scan the area as Scooby followed her in curiosity.

"Like, Freddy… while that swamp monster disguise is scary… that's not the monster we saw." Shaggy explained.

"Yeah, I don't even know what you're talking about, Jones. You're bananas!" Red Herring frowned, as if offended.

"Oh, come on, Shaggy, it's clear that Red is the monster that scared you and Scooby and stole your bike!" Freddy crossed his arms.

"No, Freddy… our monster is GREEN, and he had a tongue that was basically shooting out another face… sort of like those Alien movies you tricked us into watching the one time." Shaggy frowned as he crossed his arms.

"Ugh, don't remind me…" I said as I shuddered a bit. "I don't know WHY you decided THIS was a good movie for Movie Night. Those creatures gave me the creeps…"

Freddy blinked twice as he tried to think of something. "It could have been a trick of the light… and it's the forest… purple could look green if you put it out in the sun."

I shook my head as I approached Red. "You're wasting your energy on excuses, Freddy. Let me ask. Red, where were you in the wee early hours of the morning, if you don't mind me asking?"

Red paused slightly to think as he smirked. "If you MUST know, I've been at home, getting ready for the day and having breakfast."

"And just to make sure, you didn't go any other place?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Nowhere except to Weirdo Woods today." Red frowned. "This whole bike thing is news to me."

All of a sudden, we heard the beeping of the metal detector sounding as all eyes turned to Velma and Scooby as Velma was pushing a bush aside to reveal a bike. Freddy's eyes lit up as he pointed to the bike. "Aha! I knew you were lying, Red, because what is this BIKE doing all the way out here!"

Red just stared at Fred in exasperation before slapping his forehead. "That's MY bike, you moron."

"Yeah, like, Freddy, Red's right. My bike is RED… CHERRY RED… and this one is blue." Shaggy pointed out as he examined the bike in question.

"Again, a trick of the light… OR Red could have easily taken the bike, PAINTED it blue and tried to pass it off as yours to throw us off the trail?"

"Re rid?" Scooby blinked twice, looking at Freddy skeptical… which, honestly, I don't blame him.

"Yeah, and I can prove it…" Freddy smirked as he picked up Velma's backpack to look through it.

All of us groaned as Velma said, "Freddy, don't. You're just going to make a fool of yourself…"

"Ah ha!" Freddy laughed as he pulled out a sandblaster as he tested it a bit. "Knew I'd find something in your backpack, Velma!"

Velma slapped her forehead as I looked at the scene, exasperated. "Velma, why do you keep a SANDBLASTER in your BACKPACK!"

"I like to be well prepared." Velma sighed. "That backpack is packed with a lot of stuff I like to take in the event of an emergency…"

"I'm warning you, Jones, stay away from my bike!" Red growled in anger as he narrowed his eyes.

"Freddy, you're really wasting your time with this, he already said he didn't do it." Shaggy groaned as he rubbed his head. "We got our answers… and this isn't the bike."

"Just watch!" Freddy said in determination as he ran over in an attempt to sandblast the bicycle, giving a big smirk as he nudged it.

"FREDDY!" I shouted at him, trying to get him to stop, but it was too little, too late. Freddy was blasting the bike away with the sandblaster, scuffing it in every sense of the word… and by the time he was finished, he looked at the bike… rather flabbergasted.

"Huh. I… uh… guess that wasn't Shaggy's bike after all…" Freddy grinned nervously.

"NO! Really?" We all said in pure exasperation.

"Jones?"

Freddy looked over towards an angry Red Herring as our 'leader' gave a nervous chuckle. "You ruined my bike… so I'm ruining something of yours…"

"Heh heh… come on Red… let's not jump to hasty conclusions… heh, uh… fellas, back me up here? Fellas?" Freddy grinned nervously as he looked towards all of us.

We wisely took a step back as I said, "You brought this on yourself, Freddy…"

Before Freddy could react, Red Herring grabbed our leader by the shirt and raised his fist…

PUNCH!

We winced a bit as Freddy's face got punched in by Red, causing him to fall down on the ground. As if that wasn't enough, Red then got on his bike and cycled right into Freddy, leaving on him tire tracks in the middle of his body. We winced a bit as we heard Freddy groan.

"Let THAT be a lesson to you, Jones! The next time you try to accuse me of something I didn't do… GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!" Red shouted angrily at the weakened Fred, before turning to us. "As for the rest of you… I think you got your answers. So… either take your friend and get lost or I will do the same thing I did to him ON YOU!"

Shaggy chuckled nervously as he and Scooby grabbed Freddy's body and started to run, Shaggy shouting, "Like, no need to tell us twice…"

Velma quickly followed behind as I looked back at Red, deciding to shout, "Sorry about the trouble!"

I quickly ran off, not bothering to look back afterwards… I like to think that Red at least knows we don't have beef with him.

Pretty soon, we were back at the treehouse as we laid a groaning Freddy on the makeshift bed as Velma was looking him over.

"You know, Freddy, as much as we love your gung-ho attitude, what you did with Red was wrong." Velma admonished him as she shook her head. "You DO know that, right?"

"Yes, I'm well aware…" Fred groaned a bit.

"And despite that, you decided to do this stunt anyway…" I sighed. "Listen, Freddy, we know you're trying to help out and get this mystery solved, but we can't just keep that up."

"Yeah, Freddy. We love ya, man, but when Red says he was nowhere near my bike, we should take his word for granted." Shaggy pointed out. "I mean, even I mentioned the bike's color AND the swamp monster we saw WASN'T the one in Weirdo Woods."

"I know, I know…" Freddy sighed. "I'm sorry, gang, I thought maybe I had something going…"

Velma, Shaggy, Scooby and I looked at each other as we all gave a sigh, with me saying, "I guess you couldn't help yourself…"

"We better get you fixed up before anything else…" Velma said as she gave a whistle. "Everybody, suit up!"

Scooby and I nodded as all (but Fred and Shaggy) rushed out as we all zipped out and ran back in, wearing doctor's outfits. Giving a nod, we decided to patch up Fred for the time being before we can get the mystery back on track… little did we realize was that as Velma was looking over Freddy's body lined with the tire tracks, she managed to get an idea…

And there is the first of three parts done! How did you like it? Next time, the gang go out in search of clues and possible suspects as to who has stolen Shaggy's bike... all the while told within Daphne's point of view! And who knows, there may be some slight changes that weren't part of the original episode, more particularly on the Shaphne side! For now, though, just keep waiting for a bit longer! Anyway, read, review, criticize and suggest, everyone!
