Clary was desperate to spend every possible moment with Jace, but the golden fire inside him still raged, threatening to scorch her every time she touched him. It had only been a few weeks since Sebastian had vanished with the Infernal Cup and his ever-growing army, leaving everyone in a state of uncertainty and dread.
The Silent Brothers had forbidden her from seeing Jace, as his uncontrolled emotions were exacerbating the heavenly fire. However, she was determined not to leave. The memory of Sebastian's face when she had severed his and Jace's connection plagued her thoughts, and the scorching heat of his gaze lingered in her mind. His sickly smile gave her chills, and the memory was too vivid, it haunted her every time she closed her eyes.
As she made her way from the subway station to the institute, the chilly air nipped at the edges of her jacket. Being alone was a rare occurrence for her, as her mother and Luke always made sure to drive her, even amidst the chaos of Manhattan traffic. She couldn't help but feel grateful, especially after the traumatic experience of being kidnapped by Sebastian. However, she knew that if she were to ask for their company, they would urge her to stay home and let Jace rest. Despite this, she couldn't help but feel a tinge of longing for their presence.
She was only a few blocks away from her destination, the loud traffic still buzzing by, no matter the time of day. She kept peaking over her shoulder making sure to pay attention to her surroundings. There was no one even on the street but she still felt eyes on her. Though she had felt like she was being watched ever since she'd gotten back from idris. She heard a squeel of tires as a large Black suv pulled on to the curb. A group of men in red gear jumped out to surround her. The last man to get out of the vehicle was tall and broad shoulders. The hair hanging in front of his face, shining silver in the light. "Hello Angel" she felt the the blood drain from her face and her stomach drop.
She tried to run away but she bounced off the wall of people. She went to throw a punch but Sebastian grabbed her wrapping his big arms around her, restraining her to his body. "Ive missed you so so much sweet girl" she wanted to gag but before she could even gather the air to make a nasty retort, one of the men stepped forward and blew a handfull of blue dust in her face and the world went dark.
