Derek watched her and after another 5 minutes she put down all the pens and held up the paper.

,,Have a look.'' She held the paper out to him and showed him her mommy, her mother's friends and a large house that was supposed to represent the hospital.

Derek watched her carefully and smiled at her. She then gave him the paper and said he could keep it.

He folded it gratefully and put the picture in his pocket.

"Do you live here too?"

,,Yes, again.''

"And where did you live before?"

"In New York with my ex-wife."

,,How is it there.''

Derek told her all about the Million Metropolis, Central Park, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and all other sights.

"Why were you away from Seattle?"

"I wanted to see another city. It's a bit complicated.'' Just as Sam was about to ask more questions, there was a knock on the door. But this time Richard didn't say in but stood up and saw who was behind the door.

He was relieved to see that it wasn't Meredith but one of her interns.

Richard called Sam to him, but she quickly said goodbye to her newfound friend. And only then went to her uncle.

"See you soon little ones, we'll see each other again soon."

"Bye Uncle Richard. Bye Derek.'' She waved at the men and then walked down the aisle with the woman.

Sam was then taken to the changing rooms by the interns where she saw her mother from afar. Meredith had just put on her other shoes and when she looked up the little girl ran towards her. Sam wrapped her arms around Meredith's neck and hugged her tightly.

Then the mother nodded her thanks to her resident and received a small smile in response. After that, the other woman turned and Meredith took a look to her daughter. "Well, how was it with Uncle Richard?"

"It was funny, I drew a lot of pictures."

,,That's nice. Shall we go home now?"

Sam nodded to her in agreement and both of them stood up and set off. When we got home, Meredith made dinner. Since George and Izzy would be working longer hours, she also put something aside for both of them. She watched some children's television with Sam. Meredith loved watching her daughter laugh.

That just made everything right. After about an hour, Sam changed into her pajamas and went to brush her mom's teeth. The young mother had previously called the girl next door and arranged with her that she would look after Sam for a few hours.

Lily, that was the young girl's name, got on very well with Sam and that was important to Meredith, she wanted someone there that Sam liked.

"Well, I'll go away again for a moment, but Lily will come and watch out for you if anything should happen. And if there is no other way, then she calls me and I'll be right back here right away?"

,,Where are you going?''

"A friend of mine wanted to know something and I promised him I'd come by."

,,okay''

,,Goodnight My sweetheart.'' Meredith smiled at her daughter and kissed her forehead.

She then covered Sam properly and left the room. Shortly before 8, Lily was already there. Meredith promised her that she wouldn't be gone too long and then said goodbye.

Only a few minutes later she arrived at Joe's Bar and went inside. She saw Mark already sitting at the counter and then joined him.

"Ah Dr. Grey there you are."

"Yeah, sorry I kept you waiting."

Then she held out her hand to him and he looked at it skeptically.

"Meredith." He smiled at her and then shook her hand.

,,Mark.'' At first they talked about the hospital until Mark finally changed the subject.

"So you have a daughter?"

"Yes she's 4." Meredith smiled at the thought of Sam.

"And you still managed to become a doctor? What about the father?"

"Yes, I had a lot of help from friends. What about the father?'' she asks indifferently

,,Oh I see. Well I've never seen you with a man."

Before Meredith could answer, another voice cut her off.

,,Excuse me?''
