A young woman with black hair stood in front of her and looked at her in a very friendly manner.
Meredith thought that she had seen her somewhere before.
Most likely escaped from the hospital. After all, a lot of people came and went there every day.
Finally she answers her. "Yes?"
"I work at the hospital too, we last met in the cafeteria." She smiled again and held out her hand, and when she looked at Mark, he realized that he had seen this woman somewhere before. Which is what he finally said.
"We know each other too?" The young woman thought for a moment and then suddenly laughed.
"Yes, the other day in the entrance hall.
"I'm really sorry I ran into you."
"Lexie, right?"
"And you are?"
"Mark Sloan." But Lexie didn't go into this conversation any further; she found it much more important to talk to the woman.
Meredith had put on a smile because she didn't want to seem rude and when the woman turned back to her she increased it again.
"I'm Alexandra Grey, I'm your sister." Meredith had sipped her drink earlier and almost choked after realizing this.
"I'm sorry, what?" Completely taken by surprise and with her eyes wide open, Meredith now looked at the other woman.
She tilted her head forward a little, indicating that she didn't fully understand what was just said to her.
"Excuse me?" Meredith asked.
"I'm your sister, half-sister to be exact. My father is Thatcher Grey, our father." At the mention of her father, Meredith completely blocked herself and put on a cold expression.
Stubbornly facing forward, she replied: "I don't have a father. "
Mark, on the other hand, sat next to him the whole time and sipped his beer every now and then.
Next to him he watched the two women with great interest. After all, something like this didn't happen every day.
Then he noticed how Meredith suddenly had a completely different tone in her voice than it had just a few seconds ago.
She looked at him blankly and began to speak.
"Thanks for the nice evening, I have to go now." She gave him a fake smile, then stood up and picked up my bag from the bar stool next to it.
Without saying another word, she walked onto the bar, leaving a completely confused Lexie behind. She then sat down on a bar stool, supported her with my elbows and then put her head in my hands.
"Huuuhhmm" she moaned into her palms and didn't even think about lifting her head back up. Mark observed this and ordered 2 new beers from one of the bartenders. When they were placed in front of him, he placed his hand on Lexie's shoulder. The young woman only looked slightly to the side, whereupon he held out one of the beers to her. A small smile then formed and she gratefully accepted the alcoholic drink.
They both drank in silence until Mark decided to ask a question.
"So she and Dr. So Gray have the same father?" All he got in response was a slight nod and Lexie continued to look ahead instead of looking at Mark. But after a while she also started to talk. "I imagined everything differently.
I thought she would be somehow happy or at least not just walk away.
Mark remained silent and offered her another beer. They sat there for a while and drank a lot until it was past midnight and they both decided it was time to go to sleep. When they got up they both looked deep into each other's eyes, without warning Mark leaned towards her and kissed her. The next morning, Lexie woke up with a terrible hangover and looked around in confusion.
