Gotham City:
Fall 2008, 16:07
This is the first time she is in one of the interrogation rooms and hopefully the last time she will be in an interrogation room. Being in here kinda matches those scenes of the shows she watches with her father. Soundproof walls, an escape-proof door, and furniture such as the table, chair for the interviewer, and one for the suspect seems to have inspired those interrogation rooms of her favorite shows.
As she waits for the man to question her, she had her blue eyes stared at the table in worry as her hand fidgets around a lock of her red hair in worry since the time the two individuals dressed in black order her father, a police commissioner, to take her to the station for the purpose of asking questions about the incident at the academy.
Then, the door opens as the noise gains 11-year old redhead's attraction as one of the two individuals came in with a handful of folders. The individual is a 6'1 male who has dark brown eyes and light black hair combed back. He wears dark sunglasses and black business suit as he walks to take a seat to begin the "interview."
After placing the folders on the far corner of the table, he gives the girl a small smile, "I'm terribly sorry for taking this long of meeting with you, Ms. Gordon. We are getting all and any angles of the incident as much as possible to see the picture. Let me assure you that you aren't in trouble and I merely wish to hear about your perspective of the terrible event. Ok?"
"Thank you, Mr…" the young Gordon says as she didn't quite catch his name.
"Agent Harold J. Hogan, but everyone calls me 'Happy' and I'm with the Advanced Research Group United Support," the nicknamed Happy said as he offered a handshake.
"That's quite a mouthful," Ms. Gordon laughs a bit before shaking Happy's hand.
"We're working on it. Anyway Ms. Gordon, I know this can be traumatizing for you, but the sooner I finish what my bosses wanted out of me, the sooner I can get out of your father's hair. So, will you tell me what happens from your perspective?"
13:43 (2 hours and 24 minutes earlier)
A fair skinned woman with shoulder-length orange hair and green, wearing a business attire consisting of a gray business suit with a violet shirt underneath, stands a safe distance from Gotham police surrounding victorian inspired buildings. She stands in front of the cameraman, ready to do her job as a news lady as she holds a mike in her hands, ready to do her job with the cameraman's signal.
"This is Vicky Vale live from Gotham Acadmeny where just a few minutes ago we received word that the school was swarmed by a large group of terrorists who have since fortified it and taken the students and teachers hostage…" the woman trailed off for a moment as her ear piece informing some new development, "We've just received a live video feed from the man believed to be the leader of the group."
The screens from any watching the news changed from the view of the school to that of a man wearing all black specialized body armor that has a large gray X painted on the chest alongside a standard tactical combat, a helmet, and gauntlets. If folks of Gotham aren't afraid of the skull helmet, then they should be afraid of the leader packing a lot of heat. He currently stands on a stage as he holds a pistol pointing on the head of a late 30s or early 40s man being restrained by another man who wears an almost similar outfit to the leader.
The leader spoke, "I'm gonna make this perfectly clear to everyone, including you, Mr. Mayor. If you value the lives of Gotham Academy, then you will do what I said to put them out of harm's way. I want 14 million dollars loaded into a fully fueled C-17 at the ready at the Gotham airport. As for Commissioner Gordon, leave two Swat vans at the parking lot as well as recall your perimeter to 10 block radius with orders of no purse. If you don't comply. If you deviate from my instruction in any way. If you attempt any operation against us or if we spotted any heroes…"
The leader paused as he, without warning, fired a single bullet into the man's head, blowing part of his brains out, "Then, I will execute this school… class by class and their blood will be your hands. You have an hour to meet all of my expectations. I suggest you not waste your time for any renegotiations."
Jim Gordon had been in many difficult situations throughout his career as a police officer in Gotham City. Of course that was a given seeing as how Gotham is nicknamed as the crime capital of the US and that title came before super powered criminals came into the frame.
Now, he must deal with heavily armed terrorists who have siezed control of his daughter's school. When he first heard of the frantic 911 call that said there were several gunshots coming from the inside of Gotham Academy, Renee Montoya, Harvey Bullock, and himself gathered nearly all available officers to respond to the situation. Upon reaching their designation, they were immediately met being gunned down by men with automatic rifles.
Before the video the terrorists sent to the news, the police are struggling finding a find into the building without getting spotted. They couldn't go in from the air as there were several men with military grade stinger missile launchers on top of the roof so that plan was out. Going in through an underground entrance wouldn't work either since this particular part of the sewer line was just too small for the police to fit through.
After a call from the mayor as well as seeing the video himself, Gordon already knew that these guys were serious when they said as the skull-faced leader just shot a teacher just to show how much the students are in danger should they be uncooperative towards his demands.
Sure, they can transfer money to the airport, leave swat vans (without any equipment) in the parking lot, and give them some breathing room. However, getting a military-graded plane will take more than an hour. He would have to admit that he frighten what happens if they try to ask for more time this early as it would seems that the terrorists wanted bloodshed no matter how cooperative they are. Either way, Gordon hadn't seen or even heard from Batman which probably meant he carefully finding a way of sneaking into the building to take down the terrorists. Gordon hoped to god that was the case that he'd do it quickly and save the people that were being held inside.
As Gordon continued to wait for any word, be it from the terrorists, the Batman, or confirmation that most of the demends have been met, he heard the crack of thunder which was followed by a downpour of rain. It was almost like Heaven bursting into tears knowing the outcome will be tragic regardless of whether the Bat's active over this situation or not.
Although every GCPD present and everyone else watching this sick play of tragedy and comedy wonders if Batman with the Boy Wonder will enter the picture while the city officials have to meet their demands, that question actually has a completely different answer. In time, the rain pouring eventually generate mist that makes it a bit difficulty for any police or terrorists to spot someone as a figure standing in an alleyway out of sight and out of mind if the figure was spotted at the alleyway.
If one with a well-trained eye and experience in being a detective would have spotted the figure, they can easily tell the figure is no mere bystander. It would seem like the figure isn't just watching how the situation unfolds, but it's more among the lines of evaluating the situation. Judging on his stance, the figure has finished his evaluations and is waiting for something. The moment eventually arrives in the form of the police relocating their barriade according to the skull-faced's demands to prevent the terrorists having an excuse of killing a room full of children.
As the last police car went out of the terrorists' (and the figure's) sights, the latter could sees with his eyesight that the terrorists getting relaxed once they couldn't hear the sirens. This is the chance he is waiting for and he wouldn't waste it since the mist perfected clouding his approach. Even if the police driver or a terrorist lockout caught a shadow of him dashing across the street, the latter who have thought of a stray animal while the former would think if the stress of the situation would to be blame for the blurr. Before coming to a full stop, the figure leaped over the fence, landing on the other side as it just defies gravity itself.
As he moves out of sight for any terrorists to spot him during their partols, he silently expressed a form of shame in his mind. Shame because his actions against the Flag Desecrators that started with him driving them off of his hometown and pursuing them to the point of taking over the Gotham Academy out of desperation and spite. Grief for the lives taken while trying to take down the Flag Desecrators throughout the United States despite being new to the whole business. Yet, he just couldn't let the danger that is the Desecrators escape as he is a bit more experienced in handling them. After all, it just isn't in his nature to let business of any kind or sorts go unfinished.
As soon as he clears his mind of the current doubts, he clings to the wall with his one good eye looking for a way in while prone to avoid getting spotted from the window. Only a fool can assume nobody can spot them in the dark with colorful outfits and/or such closeness. When he was near a glass door, he took a quick look into the entryway while he took out a lock-pick and placed it on the knob. He saw that there was a single guard as he looked out the window. Judging on what he is holding, the man seems to be reporting any police activities since they aren't foolish enough to believe there won't be any resistance to their demands.
The out-of-town hero whipped back out of sight when he thought the soldier was looking towards his way. Seeing the radio on the guard's hand and his constant vigilance signified their adaptation to his prior involvements. Although he doesn't know the time frame of their constant radio chatter, conflict against the Flag Desecrators is a better solution than to let them escape out of the United States so they can resume their ruthlessness against any targets the world offers to them. As a result, an United States-based terrorist cell against forigen countries without any response could cause bad light towards the US should the Justice League waited long enough to defeat them.
His first act was to unlock his entrance so he can hear how often this guard reports his status report and their positions. He succeeded in hand-picking the door by chance and listening to the radio while he adjusted his gear and checked what little gadgets he've on his disposal. When he left his hometown, he had packed about 3 packs of taser disks, 4 emp devices, 2 packs of "burner" disks, a pack of flash capsules, a set of grappling hooks, a pack of smoke capsules, and 6 packs of sticky capsules with untested models of "voice recorder" and "mouse hole." Now, the gadgets he has left are a few taser disks, an emp device, a pair of grappling hooks, a flash capsule, two smoke capsules, some sticky capsules, and the untested equipment.
Other than the one selling out his buddies' location, he learned with complete certainty that there's four on the roof, two pairs are at the stairways, and the leader among the majority of the Flag Desecrators keeping the hostages in the gymnasium. What he doesn't know for sure of the numbers partoling the Gotham Academy or the number that are planned bombs. His blood boiled at the sudden thought of the Flag Desecrators blowing up the academy to kill as many students and staff as possible. It could be in the event of heroes like Batman and the League jumping in the fray. It could be the prize of him stopping their schemes time and time again or to show that safety is easily fragile. Regardless of the reason, the winning stratey would have been taking out the guards and disable the bomb(s) fast before approaching the gymnasium.
With the strakes in mind, the young hero quietly widened the door enough for him to slither through. It was a good thing that the boots was designs to be sound absorbant as he sneak up to the unsuspecting terrorist.
Once he was close enough, he pounced on his enemy and wrapped his arms around his neck, performing a sleeping hold. It wasn't long for the terrorist to drifted into dreamland due to the hold over him is too great for an ex-military. He let down the body gently in case a nearby patrol hears a body drop as he takes out a capsule to do his standard protocol with captured criminals.
His hands also took out the device that can theoretically give an all-clear signal. Theoretically was the word since the device was meant for high-tech security connected to a computer system, but a radio was the minimum of the device's capability. Yet he still attracted the device to the walkie-talkie and placed it within his own pockets to keep an eye on the untested model.
His focus shifted to the downed body and he dragged to the part of the wall where he couldn't be seen from nearby window spotters. Before he could encase the terrorist with a sticky capsule, he take out any weapons from his pockets and making sure the arms together. Once he sures, he casually throw the capsule as it engulf the terrorist's body, tieding him to the wall.
He turns around and walks toward further into the Academy while his arm roamed over his left shoulder and grabbed something attracted to his back. His hand got a hold of a round shield that looks exactly like those Captain America comics: white star on the center, surrounded by blue, and making the three outer rings into red and white stripes. Even through the issues he might face in the future from the shield, he was really glad that he convinced that man to make it like the shield from the comics. Otherwise, he wouldn't have reached next year's birthday since the shield saved him from death's door a few times.
Just when he placed the shield on his left hand, he came across two of the Flag Desecrators and engaged into a standoff. An awkward one as the hero stands dumbfounded at his luck while the two Desecrators seem to be in the same spot as they face their hunter once more. The standoff lasted a long moment until the one who foiled their plans made his move.
Quick thinking, the young hero used his shield to swipe one of them into the wall and hit the ankle of the other. One dropped his weapon out of surprise, letting him to the shield to slice off a part of the gun of the other. Once they're unarmed, he knocks out the closest one to him by hitting his head with a tap of the shield. Then, he slid to the other and did a leg sweep to the head, knocking the other out.
"I hate when that happens," the young hero mutters before he spirited out to find the other Desecrators before heading off to the school's gym.
The gymnasium was relatively quiet aside from the footsteps of the present Flag Desecrators as they kept their sight over the hostages that were all lying down on the floor with their hands on their heads. One of the hostages was Barbara Gordon, the daughter of the Gotham City police commissioner. What had started as the average day in school had quickly escalated into the worst day of their lives.
At the start of lunch period, a crowd of several armed men disguised as ordinary folk suddenly poured into the school and killed the school security guards. Under 15 minutes, they corralled all the teachers and students into the school gymnasium according to their class, despite several of them having succeeded in calling the cops.
Barbara wondered to herself why they hadn't taken her as a more special hostage. After all, her father was Gotham's police commissioner and using her would gain them a lot more leverage and using her would gain them a lot more leverage. Maybe they didn't know who she was, but there's also a chance that they don't care about that. Perhaps she should be grateful for that as they would probably end up taking their only hostage and kill most, if not all of Gotham's academy, considering what she saw them do to one of the teachers when they made their little announcement. She wouldn't put it past them to do a massacre class by class.
Putting those thoughts away, Barbara heard some bits and pieces of some of them whispering to their leader or each other. It would seem that they were talking about the possibilities of a hero getting involved and judging on the word "brat" or "fool," it isn't the Batman or the Justice League he allied himself with. Those were what she can hear quite clearly before the leader ends the conversation quite violently.
Eventually Barbara was broken out of her thoughts by noises that sounded a lot like gunfire. Apparently it was coming from outside of the auditorium. The hostages almost lifted their heads up to try and see if there was anything going on but when the guards decided to point their weapons at them they quickly went back down onto the floor they did earlier. Some started to whimper in fear that these terrorists would kill them.
"Oh no, It can't be him! He should have been in Washington D.C… he should have fallen for that false lead," the Leader shifted his view to the captived audience and ordered harshly, "Don't do anything stupid and we won't fill you with holes!"
The sounds of gunfire continued to echo throughout the gymnasium and Barbara couldn't help but wonder who was combatting the terrorists and which side was winning.
He makes it his business of taking down the terrorists bit by bit leaving only one place of the academy for them to held dominated over. He would have to both apologize and thank the ones who make his volunteer work as a superhero possible, especially the radio that miraclely supports his cause of rooting out the Flag Descrators.
Yet, there is a such a thing as no plan survives the enemy as he managed to keep that plan coming apart by quickly dispatching each of the terrorists. And now… well, the Young Hero never expected six terrorists seemingly guarding the hallway that connects into the gymnasium. And that what leds to being discovered as these terrorists are eager of avenging their captive friends.
Upon being spotted, they immediately opened fire on him causing him to dodge for cover. To maximize his cover, he would have to be in a crouch position for the shield to protect him completely since he wasn't sure enough that the enemy acquired armor piercing bullets and he doesn't want to test them out any time soon. As they peppered his cover, his free hand searched for a disk in his pockets.
When the shooting finally stopped, he did a quick check, seeing they were reloading as fast as they could to pepper him again.
"My turn!" He said before he lowered his defense in order to throw a disk right in the middle of the six. Disk proved itself as his last flash disk as it disoriented them leaving him intact, thanks to the designs of his helmet.
Right after the flash disk did its part, he tossed his shield and watched as it sailed and smashed one of them. The impact caused the shield to hit another before the shield lodged itself into a wall while the force of the blow knocked out both of them. The brave young lad immediately dashed to their position and closed in distance.
One superhero who is just old enough to be in high school against four disordienting ex-military… it wasn't a fair fight, more like a beatdown. He dodged most of their hits as he navigated between them enough for them to start hitting each other. Being on the defensive doesn't last very long as he delivers punches, kicks, stomps at the face, legs, and any vital point in the body. It didn't take long for them to fall till the last one standing.
He quickly kneeled him in the groins allowing his opponent to crouch in pain. As much as he wanted to put an end to this, he actually sympathized on the part of hitting the king's jewels of any man, but he had to put that aside until he came back to L.A. While that guy was down and comforting his injured private parts, the hero wrapped his arms around the former soldier and threw into the ceiling as the force of the hit put him down and good.
He stands still for a few moments as he begins to realize him being spotted makes matters worse for the hostages. Despite getting hit by one of them that makes him somewhat breathless, he preserves and moves toward the shield lodged into the wall. He grabbed ahold of his shield and removed it with a minor grunt of effort along with his retrieval.
Wasting no time, he make his way from the small section fills of down terrorists towards the door of the gymnasum. Deciding what could be the most idoltic and dangerous plan he could think of, the young hero prepped himself of brench and kept their attention on him. His free hand holds whatever left of the smoke disks ready to be thrown at the moment he enters the gym as well as keeping the pockets that hold the remaining of his support items easy access.
Then, he charge with his shield bearing his battering ram against the metal doors to start his final comfortation with the terrorists. As soon as he smashed his way through the doors, the Flag Descators opened fire onto him as the hostages screamed for being close to the fight. It was lucky as the terrorists focus fire onto his shield instead of his exposed limbs. Even more lucky that the materials of the shield literally stopped the bullets in their tracks as they harmlessly fell to the ground. In response, he purposely dropped a smoke disk right at his feet as he disappeared within the smoke.
Those who are patient rushly reload their guns as fast as they can while others foolishly waste their bullets in hopes of killing the young hero in the smoke. In their blindness, the hero uses the smoke to his full advantage as he throws the other disks and explodes in smoke beneath their feets, erupting most of them in the smoke.
From there, the shield bearer took a page out of the Dark Knight and navigated his way around them like a wolf circling its prey. Staying on his feet, the boy pretending to be Captain America attacks them from their expected areas. Regardless of a punch, leg strike, or a shield toss, he take any terrorists in the smoke as the chances of overcoming the hero is getting lower and lower.
Hearing their own comades taking a beatdown fuel a mixture of anger and nervousness for very good reason. Despite throwing everything they have against him and no matter if they secure the place, he always finds them, adapts to them, and overcomes them. On the other hand, the hostages were a bit awe at the feat of a hero taking their captors as well as for everyone being taken down installs a bit of hope.
However, the hope wasn't unseen by the leader of the US based Terrorists as he thought of an idea to get that son of a bitch out in the open. He yells, ensuring the boy who wished to be a hero to hear him, "Kill 'em."
Two out of the five remaining terrorists heed his order and approach the hostages with their guns at the ready. As expected, the lambs panic for the slaughter as they huddle together and scream, practically begging them to not kill them. They wouldn't care less as they opened fire on their hostages. They would have died, yet fate was on their side as the hero jumped out of the diminishing smoke fog and landed in front of them with his shield stopping the bullets in their tracks.
The two stopped for a moment to briefly engage in a staring contest with the "eyes" of their tormentor. Suddenly, the one on the hero's right fired all the bullets in his assault rifle onto the rest of the hostages while the other had his weapon locked on the hero. They expect that his concerns toward the hostages will make him give up his shield, leaving him vulnerable to getting shot. Either that or just kills the ones who are unprotected and engage him into making a mistake. No matter what the choice is going to be, the one who proved himself to be a pain in their asre is going to die one way or the other.
He chooses the former as he throws the shield to protect the others that he can't reach from the bullets. He would have died before the shield won't came back to him in time, but it's one thing he learned about such heroic situations in both comics and newspapers. The villains always underestimate the heroes nearly all the time… including our reaction time. True to that thinking, his supposed freehand throws a capsule at the man aiming his gun on him just mere moments after he throws the shield. Upon contracting the gun's muzzle, the capsule exploded into foam engulfing the shooter and hardened immediately.
Soon after that, he close in the nearest hostiles and he perform a running punch to the trapped terrorist which the harden foam was enough to pin him down for the count. The other, who was shooting at the hostage, freaked and tried to respond. He gave a quick jam to the gun, planting a disk that caused a gun jam by burning into it. Next, he grabbed the terrorist's arm and move that arm behind his back with him along with it. Before he could escape the hero's grip, the latter forced the former's head to meet the armored knee repeatedly till he's knock-out.
While that was happening, his shield flew straight to the wall before it bounced to the other side of the gym with no need of stopping. The shield made of unknown substances has saved some of their lives. However, the shield couldn't stop all of the bullets as one or two managed to pierce one of them. Yet, those wounds aren't life-threatening as that unlucky student merely got shot in the shoulder. Anyway, the shield ricochets off a pillar and heads off heading the hero's direction.
Knowing that there's still Flag Desecrators around, the hero spun around so that his left arm could slip into the strap of a moving projectile. Months of training with the shield have made him a master of retrieving his shield, whether it's moving or laying around somewhere. Despite being unable to let his guard down at the moment, he decides that it's best to offer some sort of amnesty to what remains of the Flag Desecrators.
"I understands what you, Flag Desecrators, thought that you're in the right because of what they done to you after years of service for your country…" said the young hero with his helmet hiding what his real voice sound like
"Shut the fuck up, you Captain America wannabe. As if you know a thing about us bastards," said the ex-military on the left.
"Yeah, that's right. You're the punk that keeps messing with us and made us do this in the first place…"
"Then, I'm only going to say this once," slightly annoyed when being interrupted and that his attempt of reasoning was shot down before it could get started, "Surrender while all of you still have a chance as they may consider your records. If not, you don't wanna go the hard way."
"Oh yeah, we do."
Hearing this answer, he mentally sighed at how stubborn the people he fought against could be. As soon as he saw the one in the middle raise his weapon at him, the boy inspired to be Captain America threw his shield in response. The blow of the shield at the man's chest caused to be flipped over along with being knocked out.
As he runs to the right to retrieve his shield, he yells to the captive audience without even turning to see them, "GET DOWN!"
He doesn't need to look back to the hostages as he is afraid running out of the gym could attract bullets to them. His best bet of getting them out is for them to stay put and out of the battle. Once he grabbed his shield, he run straight for the terrorist on his right. The last of the Flag Descrators tried their best to shoot down their enemy. Once he's in reach, the hero does a jumping kick that sends him flying into the wall.
Two men are down, leaving the last one standing as he turns around to face him. Despite the need of ending the fight, he seemingly takes his time approaching the panicking terrorist as he kept the shield protecting him from bullets. Then, he saw his opponent dropping his gun and went for a grenade and that's the sign of ending it right here and now.
He was too late for him pulling the pin of the grenade, but he wasn't too late in giving the man, likely twice his size and supposed highly trained soldier, an uppercut. As a result, the body hit the ground a few feet away from the hero and the grenade dropped just in front of him. Without a moment's hesitation, he unstrapped his shield from his arm and bent down to place his shield onto the grenade

I made this story in an event where people love a more natural based team than Interferance. When I meant natural, I meant no members that came from another universe. However the reason this is incomplete is because there are many ways of introducing the main characters; whether it's be taking a page out of Phase 1 of Marvel Movies or going one of young jusice fanfic that I like. This story was kinda based on the fact from the Eternals movie where people notice that marvel makes mention of superman as a comic character. That makes me wonder if DC has Marvel comic books that are hidden from the audience, so I took a gamble of that. I make an oc character that inspired him to be Captain America, from his time reading comics, that managed to find the right people to help him.
1/03/23 update:
I guess that I have to end the poll today as it seems not many people really vote which story will be mine to explore and which story might be needed to be adopted. Nevertheless, only two people have voted for Valiant, the least planned route, to be my focus. In other words, I won't write Blood of Diana or Young Justice: Interference as I will leave that to the other writers braved enough to explore those "realities."
I will create and add another chapter, in a later date, detailing my expectations of the two need-to-be adopted fanfics, but for now I needed answers to questions so I can better explore the reality that is Valiant.
1. Do y'all want an origin for my MC? Because I'm just going to say that he existed in the Young Justice universe with hints/clues of what his background is going to be like.
2. Since my OC inspired by a Marvel Hero, should he be limited by DC villains and OC villains or isn't it alright to bring in some Marvel villains? I added some Marvel references since MCU has made some references linked to DC. So, why not add some of Marvel universe into DC young justice.
3. There's also a personality similarity between my OC and Monsterverse Godzilla, the part where he goes outside his territory just to goes after a dangerous threat and this threat brought him into Gotham. How exactly do I play this off considering the fact Gotham belongs to the Batman mentality and Black Mask could be an overrated character at this time.
4. Since there's a new hero on the block, there's a good chance for a team being formed before the Young Justice shoppingmode canon starts. So, I'm taking a page out of MCU Phase 1 and creating a team of six individuals. Aside from the OC, I have been thinking of adding Supergirl to the team since I don't quite like the post credit scene of season 4 and the pilot chapter create a brief scene of the OG Batgirl (probably before she donned the cowl of a bat), so I put her in the potential list. I'm open to suggestions of which DC heroes or anti-heroes (the ones that never make an appearance yet know they existed) will be part of the team.
5. How do I write about a hero-hero relationship either love or friendship? In other words, how does the relationship of the team work out like the avengers or Justice League?
6. How do I exactly write out the reaction of the Justice League to the team? From my understanding based on fanfic more than shoppingmode canon, the Justice League will more likely dissolve the team and add them to be their proteges out of good intentions.
7. Is it alright to do the MCU style of introducing the team members and the events that forge the bond? Mostly because it doesn't feel right to just place these characters during the events of Young Justice. It will more likely screw everything up than doing a buildup from pre-canon to shoppingmode canon.
Please post down questions on the pilot chapter of Valiant because that route was the one I was expecting to be put on adoption instead of being my story.
