Surprise!
Since you've all stuck by me and supported me, I've decided to release the sequel right after Remnant of a Rose: Red War. I've been working on this for some time, came up with some good ideas that hopefully you will like. Enjoy!
In the Vault of glass, six Guardians fanned out for their attack.
After the Red War and the awakening of the Traveler, Commander Zavala of the vanguard had begun a series of Operations to deal with numerous threats that have taken advantage of the guardians being Lightless temporarily. In this instance, the Vex had begun operations in the Vault of Glass. What it was, currently unknown. That was why this group of six came in to deal with whatever the vex had planned.
Three fanned out to the left while the remaining three went to the right to flank a group of Vex composed of one Minotaur and ten Goblins.
One threw out an Arc grenade to stun some Goblins while another gave covering fire with their sniper rifle as two others activated their supers!
Void energy surged as it disintegrated the Vex Minotaur, but it was too late, more Vex had begun to teleport into the structure. Many Goblins walked down the stairs firing at Titan who brought up a shield. Another warlock, this one being a Warlock brought up a Void Bomb to slam down on a Minotaur Axis Mind.
That was when time stopped.
The Guardians and the Vex had stopped hard in their tracks, bullets stopped in mid-air while lasers shot from Vex harpies froze. Nothing moved.
That was when another portal, a triangular portal filled with ones and zeroes and other data-like figures opened up and two individuals emerged from the doorway. One was a Guardian and another his Ghost. The Guardian was a Warlock in robes that looked Egyptian with a cowl of a hawk with gauntlets made of a hybridization of Guardian and Vex make. His Ghost had a blue optic surrounded in bronze triangles and diamond. This is Osiris and his Ghost Sagira.
And this was not the Vault of glass, but a simulation of it.
This simulation is currently taking place in a Vex structure on Mercury called the Infinite Forest. A planet sized machine capable of simulating the past, present and possible futures for the Vex to study and adapt.
In this instance, the two have been sabotaging simulations so the Vex could study faulty information to the advantage of all. They have been doing this for a VERY long time, with the exception of a few months ago.
During a routine sabotage, their Light suddenly ceased. The Vex observing that simulation jumped at the chance of eliminating the Warlock. Luckily, he had a few tricks up his sleeve and managed to exit to a simulation of a Sparrow race followed by a nexus of simulations connected to one another. They managed to evade them and hid in a simulation within a simulation that was one pico-second out of sync with the rest. They stayed there what felt like an eternity until they felt their Light return and got back to work. Right now, they were making up for lost time.
"Ominous rocks, Vex killing Guardians, mortal peril…seriously? Aren't you tired of these simulations? Can't we go to one with a beach, get a tan, have some mamosas?" Sagira asked her Guardian after looking around the frozen battlefield.
"Fatigue is a distraction…along with complaints."
"Oh, I wasn't complaining. When I complain, You'll know it-ouch!" She said as she flew too close to a Vex Hobgoblin's laser singing her shell.
"Focus Sagira." Osiris said to his Ghost as they walked through the frozen scene. He looked briefly at the attire of the fighting Guardians, stopping at one.
"Fascinating." He said looking at a Guardian Hunter with a lizard tail. "Sagira, can you identify this entity. It is obviously a Guardian but not of a race I'm familiar with."
Sagira, after adjusting the aim of a Minotaur weapon so it was instead firing upwards floated towards her guardian. "Seriously, don't you read the Guardian missives I receive every month? This is a faunus from Remnant. You know, the lost world of humans and Faunus? Grimm? Aura? Any of this ringing bells?" "Oh, of course. Must have missed that one." Osiris said curiosity piqued before resuming his current mission.
He recalled hearing about it from Sagira a month back that Faunus and humans born from Remnant were also becoming Guardians, but usually paid more attention to files regarding Vex than others. "What would you do without me?" Sagira said altering the trajectory of a Vex Goblin about to toss a grenade at a crouching Warlock. "Crash and burn I suppose." Osiris said with a hidden smile as he looked around. He was looking for a Vex Terminal within the simulation. Normally, they would appear in a simulation as something that didn't belong, but this one was difficult.
He finally found it in the form of a White Engram that a Goblin dropped. Clever. he thought. But not clever enough for he knew for a fact that the last time he saw a white Engram was several centuries past. He waved his hand above it and the Engram disappeared and in its place was a Vex data terminal. He moved his hands around searching for information. "Need any help?" Sagira asked him from behind. "I got it thank you." As he finally hacked into the terminal looking deep into the code.
What he saw made his mouth dry and his eyes widened in fear.
He quickly dismissed the terminal and made his way back to the doorway they came in. Sagira seeing her Guardian in distress floated back to him, but stopped noticing the Vex Minotaur she moved previously back in its original position.
"Wait…didn't I…" As she flew closer to it. Suddenly, she was grabbed by the Minotaur in its arm and moved closer to its red optic, her panicked reflection starring back at her.
"OSIRIS HELP!" She screamed as she felt its grip tighten on her shell. Its grip slackened when it felt bullets clip its arm and then its head when it fell. Osiris had his Garden Progeny 1 Scout Rifle out aimed at the fallen Minotaur. He quickly went to his Ghost. "You alright?" He spoke. Before she could reply, the other Vex constructs in the simulation came to life and opened fire on them. One clipped Osiris's shoulder as he ran.
"Three o'clock. Six o'clock. Ten! You're welcome!" Sagira shouted at him as more shots were fired as Osiris responded in kind responding to her observations. They slid to a pillar, ducking as they made more shots. He looked to the doorway and saw as a Vex Harpy went right up to it and it collapsed on itself. He noticed that many of the shots from the Vex were aiming at Sagira. Normally, they would ignore her in favor of him. So, he began a few quick experiments.
He quickly manifested several of his reflections; holographic simulations of himself, and sent them in different directions. Usually, they would attract attention from the Vex and he would make his escape. But they ignored them. He then created more of them, along with reflections of Sagira. Then he sent them out. Several of them were right in front of the growing group of Vex, but were ignored entirely. He concluded which matched what he saw.
"Sagira, they could see your Light!"
He brought up a gauntlet hand and made a few movements with his fingers, manifesting a small portal. "I need you to get to the Last City…warn Ikora, otherwise the Vex will win! I'll distract them!" He said as he grabbed his Ghost and threw her towards the doorway.
"OSIRIS!" She screamed when she was thrown. As she entered the doorway, a Vex Hobgoblin Line Rifle shot at her, nicking her optic as she tumbled out into the sands of Mercury.
Osiris looked up from the doorway looking up and up into the visage of a Vex Minotaur glowing bright orange with a flaming sword slamming down on him.

Hellas Basin, Mars
Sol System
On the semi-frozen landscape of the Clovis Bray Futurescape, the Warmind Rasputin looked over many data packets.
It has done this for the last few months since the Awakening of the Traveler.
It had watched as its agents the Guardians protect a fragment of the Warmind in the Cosmodrome from both Fallen, Hive and Taken. Even rewarded the one known as Summer Rose for her services. But in this instance, it needed help at its core. Normally, it would begin reawakening the numerous frames that resided still within the Futurescape along with activating several weapons that have never began production during the Golden Age. But the risks were too great.
After the Traveler awakened, a large pulse of Light bathed the red planet in its energies. Energies that began to melt the ice the Warmind used long ago to contain a biological threat. Using one of the remaining Warsats not recalled to his complex deep in orbit of mars, it used infrared on the landscape. It saw the organisms begin creating tunnels and hives for the numerous broods. It also saw the gigantic entity that was tunneling across the landscape. By its calculations, they would be at the complex in a matter of days.
He began to write a missive to send to the Guardians intel network called The hidden but ceased that option. Using another of the Warsats he got a visual of several Cabal ships making their approach to the planet. Possibly to search for supplies for their continued operations against the Guardians regardless of their recent losses.
He did some calculations and predicted a 97% chance of the Cabal to intercept his missive. Something he does not want. So decided on a more subtle approach.
He sent a digital tendril through numerous Warsat satellites still active in the system, through antenna and unused landlines on the grounds on Earth and found himself outside the main network of the Last City. Giving a digital equivalent of a snort at the 'advanced' firewall they had, he easily bypassed it and masked it so no one would notice the intrusion. Passing numerous data packets coming and going through the system, he found what he was looking for. The roster of Huntsmen and Huntresses from the Huntsman Academies of Remnant.
Through numerous proxies and hacked surveillance, Rasputin was made aware of the lost human world and their current situations. The most recent being the aftermath of the Red War.
Due to heavy damages to the academies, the students of said academies were being sent out to assist Guardians in patrols, reconstruction efforts, and even in STRIKE Operations.
Locating the list of potentials, The Warmind viewed the potential recruits. Using the digital equivalent of a hand, he swiped left to eliminate those who were not perfect for his needs. Team NDGO, no. Team SSSN, potential, but no. Team CRDL, most definite no! He then found the recruits necessary. The Ace Ops and one Penny Polendina. Making his selection, he then brought up the list of said huntsmen coming to Sol, made an edit and added his selection to a Guardian scheduled to do patrols on Mars soon. The fact said Guardian is the Titan Prometheus-23 of Fireteam Nero was a coincidence. Removing all traces of his presence in the system, he made his way back to his while self in the Futurescape on Mars.
The board was set, pieces in position.
A/N: Here's how things will pan out in this fic. The next chapter will be called Osiris and the Warmind Part 2. Followed by a chapter or two of focusing on the events of the Osiris DLC. Then the events of the Warmind DLC. This will continue till the end of this fic. THEN I will start on Forsaken.
See you then!
