10,000 years ago,
A huge black dragon looked over its land, feeling very lowly. For hundreds of years, it lives alone, fighting off every dragon hunter, and brave knight that wanted to slay it. It grew bored of the attacks and decide to block the path to its cave. However, it was growing old and wishes to have a mate. Sadly, it was the only dragon in the area. It decides to take flight, hoping to get its mind off of the boredom it had.
It flew through the air, making no moves on the villagers. It didn't care about them. They kept fleeing in sight of it and found no joy in attacking weaklings. It was soon stopped by a beautiful voice. Looking down, the Black Dragon spotted a young woman standing out on the roof, singing a song. It listens and felt its blackened heart beat at the sight of the human girl.
"Princess!"
The woman turned and saw a knight walking up to her, causing her to sign.
"Sir Fredlord, I needed to get some air. Being stuck in the castle all day does not help with my skin." The woman said, sighing.
"I know. But reports tell me that a dragon was spotted. We don't wish to have you captured, though I wouldn't mind saving you." He said.
"Sir Fredlord, you know I ca not wed until I'm of age! If this is another one of your plans to wed me before my time, then you are wasting your breath!" The Princess told him.
The Black Dragon floated in the air, surprised at the human female voice. Beautiful when sing. Powerful when yelling. It continues to watch the female before she started to head back inside. The Knight followed her but heard him mumbling.
"Well, I will wed you regardless, Princess. After all, no one else has tried to win your hand."
The Black Dragon did not like that. It could not deny the princess was pretty and it could feel its heart beating when it thought of her. It's been alone for so many years and now it seems it knows who it whats as its mate. However, it was smart enough to know that it can't just kidnap her or try to win her heart like someone that wants to treat her like an object. It gave a long hard thought before deciding on something. Something it never tried before.
The Black Dragon enters its cave that night, thinking about the princess. She was so beautiful. So fierce. So...
"Much like a dragon." It said, speaking in grunts.
The princess made her sound like his ideal mate. To stop living alone. And she wasn't young either. From what it knew, humans have much shorter lifespans than dragons. As long as she made him happy then he didn't care that he outlive her.
"But I must be smart about this." It said, knowing that if the princess find outs about it being a dragon, it could backfire on it.
It also knew that the king and queen won't accept anyone except princes, knights, or noblemen. As for it was aware, it was no prince. It was far strong than a knight and the princess already dislikes the knight that was with her. So a nobleman it was.
The Black Dragon also knew that spell will only work for half a day. Meaning it has to leave in order to keep itself hidden. It decides to wait until morning before taking up its new form to win the princess's heart. It only hopes that it could keep itself from doing anything that made it act like a dragon.
The next day, at the castle,
The princess signs as the morning sun rose. Solene was bored with her life. Her parents were sent on setting her up with Sir Fredlord because he asked them to marry her. She had a few more weeks before she was of age and no one else asked for her hand. She never liked Fredlord. The knight just keeps trying to woo her and lie about his actions when she told them about them. And from the looks of it, she was stuck with him!
"Princess? Are you up?"
"Yes, Jeannie. You can come in." She said.
Jeannie was her personal maid and her best friend. Much like Solene, she couldn't stand Fredlord as well. The knight didn't make a move on the princess, he made moves on the maids too. Jeannie was the first to turn him down.
"And I told you to call me, Solene. I don't care what my parents say, you're my friend." She added.
"I know. You did save my life when we were young." Jeannie said.
Jeannie was stoned as a child because the town thought she was a witch. However, Solene stopped them and brought the girl back to the castle. After explaining the reason why she was there, the king and queen let her stay in the castle and had her become Solene's maid. The two girls became best friends and it was discovered that Jeannie knew some magic, but Solene agreed to keep it a secret.
Jeannie walks over to her closet and opens the doors. After using her magic to pick out the best dress for the day, she closes it and helps the princess change.
"I know your birthday is coming up in a few weeks. You'll soon be ready to wed." Jeannie said.
"And finally leave the castle," Solene said, sighing.
It wasn't that she hated her parents, she wanted to leave this castle for years! And she really did not want to marry Fredlord in order to leave! Sighing, Solene put on her crown as Jeannie bowed.
"Jean...Don't bow to me." Solene said.
"Sorry, Sol, just a little use to it." Jeannie smiles.
The two woman smiles. Solene had promised that she'll take Jeannie with her once she move out of the castle. She was down with her life as a princess. They headed downstairs, ready for breakfast.
The King and Queen welcome their daughter as she sat down. Jeannie was about to walk away before Solene invited her to join them. Her parents didn't mind, seeing how much Solene and Jeannie enjoy being around each other. They both knew that their daughter want some kind of sibling, but they were unable to have another child. Luckily, Jeannie filled that role quite well.
"So, Solene, are you ready for your birthday in two weeks?" The King asked.
"Yes, father. It's been too long since I've been beyond the gates." Solene said.
"Yes, back when you first met Jeannie." The Queen said, still feeling sorry for the girl.
Both the King and Queen felt bad for the girl when she was first brought in. She lost her parents to a fire and was homeless for months. The town accused her of being a witch, but they saw a lonely girl. They wanted to make her princess as well, but Jeannie was much better as a maid. Still didn't stop treating her like family.
Fredlord stepped in, ready to work his way into the princess's heart again, only to find the maid that turned him down sitting at the table. Knowing that King and Queen were there, and they treated this maid like a second daughter, he held his tongue and walks over.
"Good morning, your Majesties. Princess. Maid." He said, bowing.
Jeannie didn't bother correcting him. She knew that he saw her as some servant that didn't deserve to sit with the royal family.
"Good morning, Sir Fredlord." The King said, smiling.
"Care to join us?" The Queen asked.
'If I can sit next to the princess.' Fredlord thought.
"Thank you. A knight can't start his day with some food." He said, sitting across from the princess.
The group ate with Solene talking to Jeannie in order to keep her eyes away from Fredlord. The knight growled under his breath, knowing he had a few more weeks before he could wed the princess.
Soon a servant walked up and bowed to the king and queen.
"Yes?" The king asked.
"Forgive my interruption, but we have a visitor." He said.
"Oh? Well, bring them in." The king said.
The servant bows before walking away. Solene looks surprised. At guest at this hour? When the servant returned, Solene saw what appear to be a very handsome man, with neat black hair, and wearing red noble clothes. He walks up and bows to the king and queen.
"My apologies for interrupting your family breakfast. I was passing by and was hoping to rest for a bit." He said, bowing.
"It's quite alright, my good sir." The king said, surprised to see him.
"May we ask your name?" The Queen asked.
"Oynx. My family just gain our wealth, and I'm still learning how to be a nobleman. I'm traveling around the kingdom, hoping to learn more. So do forgive me for not coming off as a nobleman at times." He said.
"Oynx? Isn't that the name of a black stone?" Solene asked.
"Yes. My parents named me after the story, thinking I would be as strong as the stone." Oynx said.
"Ah, forgive us this time. This our daughter, Princess Solene, and that her personal maid, Jeannie." The Queen said.
Oynx bows to both of them.
"Princess, Ms. Jeannie." He said, surprising the princess with how well-manner he was.
Jeannie, however, could sense magic coming from him. She didn't know why, but it didn't feel like a dangerous kind of magic.
"And this is Sir Fredlord." The King said.
Oynx looked at Sir Fredlord and nodded. The knight frowns at not.
"If you can forgive my words, princess, you look really pretty today," Oynx said, blushing.
"Thank you," Solene said, glad to hear those words from someone else other than Fredlord.
"My parents always taught me to be a gentleman even before we gain our wealth. I'm still having trouble believing it." Oynx said.
"Is that so? Please, sit and tell us how this happened?" The King said.
"Thank you," Oynx said, sitting down.
Solene looked at the nobleman and smiled a bit. Jeannie was the only one who noticed and knew what that meant.
'Looks like Sir Fredlord won't be winning Solene's heart,' She thought, seeing the knight glare at the nobleman.
I'm trying another OC story, but this one is tied to another one of my stories. That's Emerald, a Dragon Girl. At first, this was going to be Emerald explaining how her ancestor Oynx, the Black Dragon meet and fell in love with a princess during medieval times. However, as I thought about it, I decide to make it its own story. So I brought in my main characters. Oynx, a Dragon that can turn himself into a human during the day. Princess Solene, a princess that's tired of her princess life. Jeannie, Solene's childhood friend that's also secretly a witch. Sir Frelord, a knight hoping to win Princess Solene's hand. Too bad she hates him.
OC story or not, this is Fanfiction, folks. I can write whatever I want. There is more to come, but I wouldn't be happy if you chose to ignore it because it's not one of my usual stories. It's tied to one of my Danny Phantom stories, so it should help this one out a little bit.
