Second history 8932. It's been thousands of years since the discovery of magic as an energy source and the resulting magical girl war forced humanity to abandon earth and go into space. Sonic the hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower and Knuckles the Echidna become involved in the aftermath of this conflict and a new war born from its ashes. Alongside an amnesiac claiming to be Madoka.

39. Chapter 39 Cherubim

Edge of the world, Spiral island

The Edge of the world. Which is exactly what it says on the tin. The very edge of Spiral island where one wrong move can send you down the abyss. A barren rocky coastline pockmarked by blast holes and with small ruins all strewn across the land. In that barren lifeless coast sitting at the foot of one of many abandoned settlements where the survivors of Pandora hid until being exterminated. A single man stepped out of his strange walker mech to witness the destruction. "So it really is true. The entirety of the cosmos has been reshaped into this island. Truly this would have also been my fate if I didn't take proper precautions." Dr. Eggman looks at the settlement. It being a strange fusion of the Egg citadel and Green hills all fused together straight down the half. Also ruined by years of war and neglect.

A rumbling is then heard as a group of badniks rush towards the doctor and proceed to open fire as they continue their charge. Only for the shots to bounce off Eggman's shields and then for the doctor to tear them apart as they got close. Kiki's, Motobugs, Egg Pawns, and more are dismantled limb from limb by the mad scientist with his bare hands and brute strength with a smile on his face. "Fools! Do you honestly think you can get away with opposing me?" Eggman got into the Egg Omega which now has the arms and legs of the Time Eater grafted onto it to self as a propulsion mechanism. Walking off into the distance and towards Spiral mountain.

Chapter 39: Cherubim

Pandora has been achieved and the cosmos has been destroyed. All that is left is a large island floating in the abyss known as Spiral island. The survivors of the purge being hunted by an endless machine army under the Demon King Pandora. A land of Chaos were the remnants of the universe are merged together. Once all of the survivors are sacrificed to the Embryo. The new universe will be born, using the souls as fuel for a new big bang.

The year is... No, there is no year. While Spiral island does have a concept of time. People do not age and the sky is under an endless twilight sky. And no one truly knows how long have the people lived in Spiral island.

Jan 4 s.h. 101, Imperators tower, Planet Reibai

Inside the Imperators tower the tower located in Windu city which has become the capital city of Reibai with the tower becoming the Reibai emperor's citadel. The ruined tower now restored and improved as it now serves as an orbital elevator with the emperor's castle being set in the top of the tower. A large Japanese style castle with large amounts of plant life covering both the tower and castle. Inside the underground levels of the tower where the factories where the pure type creatures are produced were located. Kagemusha and Monika who is fresh out of basic training meet up with their master. "I see you are both here? And Monika, how do you feel?" Kagami Ichijin commented as she looked at the duo. Especially Monika and her physical body. "Honestly i'm surprised that this is even possible. For the longest time i've wanted to go outside but now..." Kagami simply smiles and states. "There is nothing to worry about. The galaxy is still recovering because of the towers and the aid of the troopers. Still said clones are dying out and the mechanica convention council won't allow any new batches to be produced." Kagemusha explains. "Makes sense, the convention exists to manage machine rights and prevent a robot war. The sole reason why Zero troopers were even allowed to be produced without proper clearance and system testing because the IAA needed a massive army to spearhead operation broken world." Kagami simply coughs and turns her back on the duo as she begins to work on a console. As Kagemusha and Kagami look on a deactivated robot rises to the floor above. The duo looks at the one eyed dome headed machine that is about four feet tall and painted olive as Kagami exposited about the robot. "This will be the replacement for the Zero troopers. The RRF-zt1 series." Monika questions why this is necessary. Even with the troopers dying out the military has more than enough Guardsmen to police the galaxies that compose the IFS as well as the rankers and all the mercenaries that are here. Monika simply states. "Insurance. There are already several factions creating their own forces. So we of the Reibai need to prepare for all possibilities.

Later that day Monika finds that Kagemusha is training once again. Like usual it is a relentless high speed barrage that defeats foes before they can act. Using guns to stagger and disorient a foe before going into their blind spot and cutting them apart. Still the AI couldn't help but comment on how nowadays swordsmen can cut bullets as both Kagemusha and the training drones who number in the dozens with more coming in to replace those who fell. After finishing off the drones the duo relax with Kagemusha eating some fried mackerel while Monika was taking an apple from a fruit bowl. "You really are committed to that vegan stuff Monika." "Well you should try it senpai. After all meat just increases the carbon footprint." "You are aware that fossil fuels have been phased out decades ago right?" "Yeah, yeah, the Earthnoid rebellion that was the final phase of the unification wars. I was briefed on the history. I still can't believe that I was locked inside that mainframe for centuries. Didn't they finish analyzing the mainframe anyways?" "Yes, but you were the only one there. It's possible that they sealed you away because you gained self awareness." After a moment of quiet contemplation the two continue their conversation. "Still sempai, what about the veggies?" Monika then tries to feed her sempai a piece of the apple which Kagemusha declines. "Sorry, but I can't process that stuff." She complains as she downs a vitamin drink supplement. "Reibai are obligate carnivores so when I was modified I lack the gut bacteria needed to process plant fibers. If I do eat that apple I would be puking it out an hour later."

After the duo are finished eating, Monika took out her small pink diary and begins to write on it. "You sure like to write on that." Monika simply looks up at Kagemusha and states. "It's a hobby. And it reminded me of my friends." "Even if those friends never existed to begin with?" Pausing for a moment the brunette bites back by stating. "They were real! Even if they were data. Don't you have any friends? Any bonds?" The masked woman simply states that she doesn't in a stated fact manner of speaking. Noting that even her "family" was using her as a tool and vice versa. The Reibai sought to remake a cursed and hopeless reality. To finally settle their centuries long blood feud with the Incubators. With Kagemusha's goals being revenge on the Puella Magi. With the only reason that she didn't kill the whole lot being that she enjoyed watching them squirm. And felt that this slow endless death was a more fitting punishment than death. A stunned Monika then asks. "Is it true... That you became Karo because you beat up everyone who opposed it?" Kagemusha simply stands up and leaves the room.

Castle Calamity

"I hate to interrupt your ugly sleep sir." A Sumeragi trooper commented to Kagemusha who was sleeping on his throne and was now waking up. "Report soldier A." "Yes sir! Kickback has been defeated and the hedgehog is heading towards Firewall's territory. Also we found the origin of the power surge that led to his defeat." The robot shows a video of Madoka bursting with light that spiraled into the sky at the exact moment that Amy transformed into a giant sword. "Accursed wretch! How can she keep up her hope after all this?! A, how long until Sonic gets here?" "As much as I would to give you an answer. Time doesn't work like that anymore. Hell, the only reason we even know that its been ten years now is because of the nuclear clocks that continue to keep time in Metropolis." Kagemusha groans and realizes that soldier A is right as she gets off her throne. "Tell Dandy to head to head to the forsaken fortress. Also have we found Anti yet?" "No sir, it's clear that Anti has gone Maverick." Smiling behind his mask the demon king heads off to "interrogate" Madoka Kaname once more.

As Kagemusha heads to the basement levels she begins to sing a song based of Biggering from the Lorax while walking thru the darkened hallways of the facility. And memories of both Homura and Kagemusha's past flashed through said hallways. Starting with the time before she became a magical girl.

At first I didn't realize.

How foolish I had been.

I had a single friend

And that friend was enough

A light where I could heal

A light that once had set me free

But now, I had some time to reassess my needs

And I need even more power

I need to take revenge, to kill them all

To reshape the entire world

Because I am raging!..

And despairing and hating!..

And reality will be rebuilt!..

As Kagemusha enters the elevator the image of Sayaka Miki in her original magical girl outfit. A blue costume with a white cape looking down in disgust who began insulting the former as the interlude began.

Hey listen up, transfer student!

I'm gonna say this once, and i'm not going to repeat it!

Despair, is a virus, a curse

And the more and more you indulge in it

The stronger the curse gets!

But, you can't really blame despair

No, that's stupid

You see it's got a worm inside

Oh yeah, that's right

And is never satisfied, get it?!

Kagemusha exits the elevator as he enters a vision of a stage with a large crowd of cheering aliens where the masked woman takes the stage as the spotlight shines upon her.

There is a principle of nature

That most every creature knows

It's called survival of the fittest

And this is how it goes

The animal that wins has got to

Claw and bite and kick and punch

The animal that doesn't winds up

Someone else's lunch

And justice is an animal

That's trying to survive

It's fighting and warring

Just to keep itself alive!

Because I am raging!

And despairing and hating!

And reality will be rebuilt!

More killing!

More slaughtering!

As vengeance and justice are coming!

A switch is flipped as the city comes to light to cheer of the crowds as scenes of war, death, destruction and war crimes flash through interspersed by scenes of all the magical girls, incubators, and their sympathizers Kagemusha killed and finishing on the time when Madoka asked her to kill her in order to avoid becoming a witch.

I won't stop!

And the enemies are all dying

And the money is multiplying

And the PR people lying

And the lawyers all denying!

Who cares if people are dying?!
I don't want to hear your crying!

This is all so gratifying!

Kagemusha tears off her mask tossing it in the ground as she goes into a fit of mad laughter as the music ends and she collapses in front of the entrance to the dungeon where she starts to cry all alone.

The in-between seas, Spiral oceans

Back to the story. The Ballena that team Sonic took and is now underwater seeking to sneak into the next area while underwater. "I'm surprised that you can handle this ship so well." Touka remarks as the kitsune dodges and weaves thru the security with the greatest of ease. Sonic proudly boasts. "That's Tails for you. He can pilot pretty much anything." Tails chuckles in embarrassment as he barely avoids ramming into a depth charge. Leading to a moment of concern.

Above the water a blockade of ships was waiting for their enemy to break thru and into the endless cityscape. Atop one of the cruisers one of the sailors reports to the captain who merely sneers. As much as a Sumeragi could do anyways. "I see, so it's all according to the general's plan. Keep tracking the ship and get into the planned position. Ready the shell cannons as well." The sailors began moving the battleships and readying their missile silos in order to perform a long range bombardment.

The Ballena finally reached the city by beaching itself on a small coastline full of gray sand and scattered barricades. As Team Sonic got out the first thing they noticed is the perpetual and starry night sky above an endless number of neon lit factories, buildings, transport tracks, and houses covering every square inch of space. Sonic sarcastically remarks. "Eggman must be having a boner in hell." Remembering places like Star Light, and Eggmanland. While Touka remarks. "The capital has nothing on this place!" Leading to curiosity from the Mobians. "Center is one big accumunopolis. Nothing but buildings everywhere." "I've heard stories that the capital was built on an old alien burial ground." "That's ridiculous Sticks! Even if that was the case such an unstable foundation would lead to the collapse of thousand floor buildings." Monika remarks. "Actually Knuckles, that is true." Leaving both of them stunned silent. "According to senpai that was the home world of the incubators. Until it was completely glassed and Center placed above it. Apparently they killed the entire population with the attack. And when they were finished there was nothing left. Afterward they built the capital as a final screw you to their enemy."

Meanwhile in the Plunderdome. A massive bunker and command and control facility. The last of the three generals Firewall is reporting to his companions. Except Kickback who is nursing a hangover in the corner."I see Kickback done goofed..." Air Raid angrily replies. "What do you know?! After all you haven't fought them yet!" "And I will never need to. But just in case..." Firewall then reveals a strange blue and slimy liquid and implants it into himself. "Is that?!" "Yes, with this I will be able to crush those fools! With this and the completion of the Kagatsuchi those fools will burn!" Firewall looks at the schematics of the Kagatsuchi, a heavily armored and armed floating sphere powered by the red chaos emerald. And the piece de resistance. A miniaturized superlaser whose light speed firing race would overwhelm and kill Sonic. A death star the size of a trailer truck designed to end the fastest thing alive. And after noticing that the Resistance had arrived ordered that all forces opened fire.

During all that Kickback moaned in pain and yelled to the two. "Could you keep it down! I have such a headache!" Firewall snidely comments. "That"s what happens when you're drunk on power." Both Firewall and Air Raid laughed at both the insult and Kickback's suffering.

At that time the resistance was getting out of the Ballena with Sticks falling behind as she couldn't stand the stench of the city. The group completely unaware that the fleet behind them are firing off a series of intercontinental ballistic missiles at the Ballena. With the admiral of the fleet remarks. "Let it rain." As the rockets flew up at mach 1 speed. And in the buildings that face towards the beach side are being manned with snipers on the rooftops, gunner platforms on the windows that use belt fed solid bullet munitions of both the piercing depleted uranium variety and hollow points containing a slow acting and very painful mercury based poison which are being loaded and manned by Sumeragi troopers. Defensive fortifications on the lower levers and fields of homing mines and just plain regular tripwire land mines on the ground. With aerial type Sumeragi's readying for carpet bombing runs just to add to the overkill. Being equipped with large rectangular bomb pods with additional thrusters for speed and maneuverability.

"This place stinks!" Sticks complains from inside the entry ramp of the Ballena with everyone else trying to coax her out. Sonic comments that you get used to it with Touka remarking that it could be worse. Sticks hisses at her fellow tag along yelling. "How could this get any worse?! We're the last people in the universe all the while an omnicidal maniac who thinks he's Thanos is sending literal endless armies of robots to kill us in order to power some Blazblue embryo shit!" As if of cue the missile barrage landed on top of the Resistance causing the Ballena to explode knocking everyone away with Sticks taking the brunt of the damage. As the group recovers they are met by gunfire as everyone is forced to head for cover. With Sticks taking a sniper round to the head which ruptures her skull causing blood and brain to spill out on the beach. Finally killing her in front of everyone as they are forced to flee leaving the body behind as it is tributed into the skies.

Then the Air type Sumragi's came from the sky with a noticeable and intimidating blare coming from their engines. As they open their bomb bays and beginning dropping their ordinance. Further wrecking the beach-side and forcing Sonic and company to keep running from place to place for safety. Eventually Knuckles notices a drainage sewage pipe connecting to the sewers and tells everyone to get inside. With Sonic rejecting due to his hatred of water, A furious Knuckles heads to Sonic and tosses him in as his shoulder is graced by a stray bullet causing him to grit his teeth as he escapes by jumping into the water and inside the man sized pipe sticking out of the wall.

Inside the sewer tunnels everyone gathers together and rendezvous. Amy noticing Knuckles injuries uses her new found healing powers to help the echidna all the while Sonic complains about the water and Touka freaks out about Sticks death and their current situation. Gripped with fear she looked back at the times she helped make such weapons. And the cold clinical detachment she felt from the lives lost. Even after being forced to join the Cycles cult and creating the Blights she didn't care if the Mobians suffered as long as Nemu and Iroha were safe. But after ten years of hell, Touka Satomi has changed. She has learned how to fear. And is now on the verge of passing out due to such. With only the curse of immortality keeping her from going insane.

After the magical girl war ended and the unification wars began it was noticed that certain people stopped aging. At first it was assumed that it was genetics or some sort of mutation. But later those same people began to live for hundreds of years prompting an investigation. It was found that the survivors of the final battle of incubaa were somehow rendered the ageless. Something Touka herself discovered much to her surprise and consternation. Not because of any moral or ethical standards. But because she will always be small and flat. Which led to scream to the skies in frustration when she found out and almost trash the set before being stopped by Nemu who smacked her with a hammer and had her bound to her chair as the latter compiled and stored the medical data.

Back in the sewers everyone has gotten fairly deep inside the pipe network and managed to lose their pursuers. Now they have hunkered down in one of the tunnels that connect the pipes as the sounds of explosions rock the ground above. After for what seems to be forever the explosions stopped. "I can't believe that they would bomb their own city." Amy comments while Monika explains. "The buildings are more than likely empty. After all of the people who landed in the mountain and didn't make for the coasts were tributed. If the facilities are still working then they are either fully automated or crewed by Sumeragi troopers." Sonic cuts in with. "So, Monika. Are you still willing to let Kagemusha go? Even after you saw how he murdered Sticks?" Phrasing the question in an unusually bitter and biting tone. To the point that his friends took notice and tried to reprimand him before Monika responds. "Do you not get it you idiot?! I like her! I, I, don't know how I like her! But I do! Then again you always were too dense to understand others!" Monika then goes off on her way with Sonic saying. "Good riddance!" Only to get slapped in the face by Amy of all people who tells her off. "What is your problem Sonic?! This isn't like you!" Sonic's eyes then become bloodshot as he lunges toward Amy grabbing her throat while screaming in a reverberating echo. "Don't you dare tell me what to do you little brat!" Leaving Tails and Touka shocked as Sonic begins to strangle Amy before snapping back to normal and letting her go in silent shame. Amy declares that she will brink Monika back and leaves while Sonic hangs his head in shame.

Knuckles then collapses and faints as Touka heads to see what is wrong. "Knuckles, he's been poisoned!" "Can't we just get him to a CR chamber like last time?" "No Tails, the poison must have come from the bullet that grazed Knuckles. And if that is the case then the poison must be red sand poison. A slow acting necrotoxin laced with mercury and with a side of nanomachines. Unless an antidote is applied Knuckles will die in three days." Tails is shocked at hearing this commenting. "What kind of sick asshole would do this?!" Touka then says. "You're looking at her..." Much to the foxes horror. "It was designed as an enhanced interrogation tool. Which is why it takes 72 hours to kill someone." Touka then clinches her fists in determination and says. "Let's go Tails! There must be antidote topside! Sonic are you coming?" Sonic meanwhile is paralyzed with despair which leaves Tails unnerved commenting that he never saw Sonic like that before as the duo head out. Leaving Sonic and Knuckles alone in the sewers.

Meanwhile back at the Plunderdome the support staff is freaking out about losing their assigned targets while Firewall looks overhead and slams his fist on his table causing his minions to notice. "Enough! Send search teams to search the area!" After giving his orders the troopers resume their tasks and begin to call off the bombers while ordering the soldiers to search and kill.

Satellite sector, Spiral cities

In a broken down street in a broken down city. Amy Rose comes up from a manhole cover like one of the Ninja turtles. Getting out as she takes a look at the satellite sector a dark dull and depressing ruined city that is falling apart and is half destroyed with the appearance of a battle that had passed a long time ago. With signs of gunfire, explosions, and long abandoned housing and destroyed weapons and vehicles that shows that this was once a settlement and probably one of the first wrecked settlements. "Yeah, I definitely took a wrong turn here." Amy notices that the whole place is abandoned with the occasional scavenging animal searching for food or taking refuge. With vultures gazing at Amy from the lights and a hyena digging thru one of several mountains of trash which creeps the pinkette out. "There's no need to be scared Amy Rose... It's not like a knife wielding psycho is going to burst out from the streets." Then a noise is heard from one the trash piles when a strange creature that was essence a three legged predator covered with large black scales and a large toothy mouth that devours the hyena leaving nothing but a spray of blood on the ground. "Dammit Monika where are you?! I do not want to end up as part of the circle of life here!" She then backtracks only to crash onto someone by accident. Sheepishly apologizing as she discovers that its Alex Kidd holding a cleaver. Which prompts Amy to draw her hammer and smack the monkey boy in the face. Causing him to fly off into the distance and crash into an abandoned building. "Crap!" Amy screams realizing the situation as Alex Kidd gets up from the wreckage and flies into a rage. Attempting to cut apart the hedgehog using a series of acrobatic attacks which Amy dodges until Alex grabs her leg and tosses her into another wall before running toward said wall as and starts smashing the building keeping Amy on the backfoot as Alex keeps going before he gets kicked by Anti who is snarling like a maniac.

Alex and Anti lock eyes with the former readying his cleaver while the latter brandished his rotary saw as the duo end up in a standoff all the while Amy watches from a corner. Anti makes the first move, rushing with his saw at full blast screaming. "Defeat Sonic!" Which Alex tries to block only to find his cleaver shattered and his right arm mauled with a follow up attack. Alex then counters with a left hook that destroys the saw and connects with Anti's face sending him flying. Alex clasps his bleeding arm while summoning a horde of Chu-Chu's a horde of mouse aliens composed of a light blue silhouette as Anti stands up and uses his homing attack to crush the horde and then smash into Alex. Crashing into the alien with Alex punching Anti repeatedly until he stopped. Then kept punching him until he was laying face first on the ground and then the prince stomped his face in multiple times for good measure. And then turns to Amy who is stepping backwards as Alex glares at her. "You're Sonic's woman? I still remember when you and your friends beat me up." "How did you?!" "I washed up here somehow and have been wandering the city since then. And now I found you. You will lure Sonic here so I can violate and butcher you." Behind both of them a massive pillar of light explodes as Black Sonic Arc rises into the heavens before generating a black and purple colored copy of the Rose sword. "Kill monkey!" Anti rises his sword and then swings it down crushing Alex and barely missing Amy with the swing. Then Black Arc begins to rampage ans Amy gets the hell out of dodge.

As Amy flees the rampage an aurora counter appears behind Black Arc which fires a floating hand that grabs and squeezes Anti's head and then more hands burst out as a terrifying and massive being with a golden head a purple concealing cloak and six hands floating around him. With Alex Kidd standing on the creature's left shoulder. Amy looks on his shock noticing. "It's... It's..."

Wizeman

Ruler of the Nightmaren

Wizeman then fires its beams on Black Arc much to Alex's amusement as the two begin to fight once more. Amy keeps fleeing back to the manhole when she is intercepted by a flying crimson jester with a golden domino mask and a wicked sneer. "Well, well, here's a sight for sore eyes."

Reala

General and Rival

"If it isn't Amy Rose. And I see you have grown up." Reala remarks while looking up Amy who readies herself for battle. "Why don't you say that to my face clown?" As she grasps her hammer and fires off cards which Reala easily dodge. "Sorry dear, but I prefer the sky." The evil harlequin remarks as both start shooting at each other while dodging weaving and taking cover at the foot of a giant kaiju battle where stray shots and attacks wreck the area. Reala then spins around the sky disorienting Amy and kicking her in the back before taunting some more as the two traded blows. "I see you are as fiery as they say Ms. Rose." "How do you?" "My master the great Wizeaman is the lord of nightmares. There is nothing he does not know about you. Your hopes. your love for Sonic, forever unrequited by the gods of pleasure. And those erotic dreams you had when you were younger. Seriously you were only 12 and you were already wanting to bind and gag Sonic while dripping hot wax all over him. Seriously that is some kinky shit." A hammer rockets towards Reala's face barely missing as it destroys a ten story building in one blow. Collapsing it entirely into the ground as Amy leaps toward Reala and clobbers her face in before firing off exploding cards that pummel the Nightmaren general with numerous explosions. Leaving Amy exhausted and Reala collapsed and smoldering on the ground with numerous holes all over his body.

Meanwhile Black Arc was slugging it out with Wizeman who is using his many projectile attacks to Keep Anti at a distance. Anti screams in frustration as the Tails Arc funnels erupt from his body in sprays of orange blood and begin to counter the lord of nightmares as the Black Arc charges with his sword and slashes with wild abandon ripping apart Wizeman's cloak and armor revealing a top heavy floating torso with dark purple skin and veins who uses his six arms to grapple, punch out, and toss the Arc into the distance while grabbing the Black Rose sword that fell next to him and snapping it in two. Then Wizeman's reveals a giant golden eye in his stomach that fires off a colossal beam at his opponent. With the floating hands continuing their relentless barrage. With the blasts consuming the cityscape and stopping only after blowing up Tokyo tower a considerable distance away leaving a mushroom cloud behind. Somehow Anti manages to get up from that minus his arms with new ones based off Knuckles Arc form from his wounds whose size and armor allow him to tank Wizeman's beams before gathering large amounts of power and slamming it onto the ground creating an earthquake that fissures the ground causing molten lava to erupt and the landscape to change.

Amy looks at the destruction around her and tries to escape only to be tackled by Reala who gleefully tries to get them both killed as Amy struggles to free herself. "I don't think so bitch! You ruined my beautiful face. So I will kill you no matter what." As the ground shatters Amy continues to fight as Reala laughs. Only for both to be rocketed into the skies above as lava erupted around them with Reala getting sent higher and higher until a blade cuts his head off with gravity suddenly returning which causes his bisected self to plunge into the lava burning up as he sinks beneath it. Monika then descends to help Amy remarking. "Fool, I had the high ground after all." Amy tries to apologize but Monika tells her to save it as they need to leave. Not just because of the kaiju but Nutcracker gunships are after her. Shown as the ships turn their attention to the battle and attempts to interfere only to be shot down. The duo then leaves as the sector falls apart.

Metropolis, Spiral cities

At the same time Tails and Touka are searching for an antidote for Knuckles in Metropolis. A large neon lit city where massive skyscrapers that reach the heavens and among the facilities are stadiums, a carnival with rides, numerous factories producing all kinds of things which are shipped thru a completely automated monorail to either ports, supply depots, or underground lines that connect all over Spiral island in a maze like pattern. Neon lights shine at the streets below with the city having an art deco design inspired by old New York with random other buildings sticking out here and there.

"This place looks like a ghost town." Tails remarks as he and Touka wander across the empty streets passing over empty vehicles. "I heard that Eggman had similar facilities." "Yes, but at the very least they had badniks or Egg Army soldiers guarding the place. This, this is just..." "A single elegant machine..." Tails looked unnerved about Touka's dead serious reaction as the duo locate Club Rouge now being fused to be the bottom floor of one of the skyscrapers. "No way!" Tails remarks as he heads towards the club while taking out his Mileselectric while Touka follows happily hoping that there is booze inside.

Inside the bar they see that Club Rouge both looks the same and is completely empty inside. Touka goes off to find alcohol as Tails looks around the counter for a wi-fi spot as so far the Mileselectric is unable to connect to Spiral islands network. "The encryption is too complex. I can crack it. But it's not easy when you're getting shot at all the time. Still why doesn't the electric show a signal?" Tails then notices a LAN port located in the cash register which leads Tails silent before he starts screaming. "A LAN port... A FUCKING LAN PORT?! THAT'S WHY I COULDN'T HACK THIS PLACE?! And I don't even have a cable! Seriously who uses a LAN cable anymore?!" Touka then comes from the back looking disappointed while holding an old CD case and gives Tails an adapter slot which she plugged in. "I see that things never change. Kagemusha was always a paranoid nut so it makes sense that she would use an internal network." An annoyed fox boy finally connected to the net and began looking up places where he can find an antidote. "So you had that all along?" "Well I thought you had an adapter or something. After all high security networks have their own stand alone systems to prevent leaks. Isn't it the same in Mobius?" Tails simply looks on in silent indignation as the data is loaded onto the tablet as Touka complains "This is lame! There's no booze anywhere! Not even some salty peanuts or colorful juice things. The only good thing is that I managed to salvage an old CD of Red Alert's debut album, Burn to the ground. Seriously, these guys rock! Why would anyone throw this away?"

The Plunderdome's alarms began blaring as the operators shuffled thru the data. "General! We have an unauthorized access to the network in Metropolis area 5!" Firewall looking over the situation orders. "Narrow down the location and once your done scramble the troops. Also search the logs for any useful information."

After a while the two prepare to leave having discovered several locations were they could find a cure. The closest one being the pharmacy that the duo decides to head to. As the duo leaves a massive hover tank and a pair of armored personnel carries stalk them as troops disembark and scatter while readying their guns and rocket launchers with Galats serving as escorts. After the troops depart the tank continues on alongside the Galats as they prepare an ambush the tank fires a high explosive round at Club Rouge that blows up the building and causes debris to fall as Tails and Touka are forced to flee the falling debris with the Galats jumping from the debris shooting beams and giving chase. The tank also gives chase firing off shots from its railgun while utilizing a beam roller. A beam taking the form of a roller that instead of crushing objects it disintegrates and melts everything in its path and goes forward to chase them. Annihilating the debris around them. "What the hell is that?! Tails asks Touka as the duo avoid their pursuers. "It's a Cairo 1985 road roller." A shocked Tails responds with. "What kind of steamroller uses beam technology to disintegrate matter and fires off high explosives rounds." As Tails finishes his statement an explosion rocks their side and takes out a Galat by accident. Causing it to fly upwards and into a disaster dominoes that take down all of the robots causing them to either get crushed in the rubble or be melted into slag and atomized by the rampaging construction equipment until finally escaping its wrath by leading it into a ditch and splitting to the sides at the last second causing it to fall off and use its roller to chew thru the floor and plummet into the depths.

As the duo was separated and fleeing thru the streets. Tails was shot upon by a group of troopers. The fox dodges the shoots and flies toward their perches where after landing dodges their axe strikes. Disarming one, taking their weapon and slicing the robot apart with his tails and then cleaving the other one slashing the chest and shooting lightning onto the wound blowing the trooper up. More troopers then appear all with assault rifles which they shoot at Tails forcing the fox to flee. "I hope Touka is having better luck than me."

Touka meanwhile was sneaking around the town while avoiding the APC's. Camouflaging herself using the shadows and an empty paint bucket that she is using as a helmet. "Good thing I have Big Boss level stealth." Suddenly a ringing sound comes out of nowhere as Touka's perspective is changed to a black screen with her and Tails stylized green tinted photographs placed on it. "Touka! Touka! Can you hear me?!" Tails questions as the sounds of gunfire are heard in the background. "I can hear you. But what is going on?" "Oh this? It's a comlink screen." "Wait we have a comlink?! And if we had a comlink then why didn't we use it before?!" "That is unimportant Touka. Where are you?" A moment of silence passes before Tails corrects himself. "Oh, yeah... Anyways I need you to go ahead and get the antidote alone. I'll meet you when i'm done with this." Tails cuts off but not before an explosion is heard from behind him. Leaving Touka unsure and with questions as she is forced to sulk away thru the back alleyways.

Unaware that she was being watched, Touka continued on as a Aerial type Sumeragi reported. "Target spotted sir. Requesting the deployment of backup." Firewall denies it as he has ordered the deployment of the Kagutsuchi and ordered a full retreat. With the battle station awakening from the large carnival above with a deafening scream with glowing green lines surrounding the floating orb which begins lighting itself aflame as it heads towards its destination.

At that time Tails continued fighting the Sumeragi horde tossing the stolen ax and managing to pierce the skull of one of the robots then using his thunderhand to launch electrified wires at the Sumeragi's before ducking out and placing bombs onto the steel railing fused building that they are were all on. With Tails swinging and flying across the structure and bringing down a large crane into a group of mooks before activating the bombs and blowing up the entire place while landing on the ground safely. Then a group of Refined ARC walkers. Large combining chicken walkers that can become aircraft with the core exxu being a four winged craft with variable thrusters and potent cannons. With the lower leg unit being an automated craft with crushing claws and serving as a bomb. Which aimed their guns at Tails before stopping for a moment and then separating their crafts and flying off. Leaving the fox confused over what happened as a powerful roar rocks the cityscape. Putting two and two together the fox tries to warm Touka only to find the comms scrambled. "Damned plot device!" Tails then flies off to find his teammate before the horror that is coming gets them both.

Back at the sewers Sonic and Knuckles are still alone. Sonic seems to have fallen asleep as Amy and Monika return while Knuckles fur is switching in-between his usual red an emerald green coloration and hot glowing pink squirming and screaming in obvious pain. The two girls hurry to check if their friend is all right while Amy chastises the fact that Sonic is snoozing at a time like this. Monika meanwhile looks at Knuckles and remarks. "It can't be..."

Sonic meanwhile is once again stuck in his mindscape having to spend time with the severed floating head of Goro Majima who is just as chatty as ever. Much to the blue blurs annoyance as they walk through the dark abyss until stumbling into the evil Super Sonic who screams at them while bearing jagged teeth and emitting a killing aura so potent that Majima was scared. "Son of a bitch! What the hell is that?!" The golden horror smiles and states "Me? I'm you. And I am here to devour you and everything else in the world." A massive cage appears behind Super Sonic that has imprisoned a massive serpentine creature with green glowing eyes. "I suppose I should give you my name. I am your shadow, your hidden darkness. Shadow Sonic, and I will be freed!"

Sonic and Majima are then bound by chains and forced to witness the battle outside. "Now, let the salt flow. So you will be tastier when I eat your soul." Followed by an evil chuckles as Shadow Sonic grabs some popcorn.

Touka has finally reached the facility entering from a panel on the roof. Happily noting that nobody had noticed her as she goes about searching from an antidote as she goes around the assembly lines and raids the supply rooms. Using a nearby computer to locate the medicine. Of course Touka's location was traced by Firewall and his forces who order the Kagatsuchi to head towards the chemical labs. One of the Sumeragi's asks if its a good idea to blow up the facility to which the general replies. "It will be fine. This city is endless and there are many more facilities like it across the mountain. The Kagatsuchi then begins moving once more while readying its main gun. With Tails following in hot pursuit as the battle station launches its escorts a swarm of Swarms. With one of them diving towards Tails and shooting at the fox. Before transforming and trying to stop him by firing off its vulcans. And later its beam launcher to stop the fleeing fox boy. The Swarm was completely absorbed in killing his enemy to the point that it tries to ram Tails. Letting him flip above the Swarms ripped open a panel, shoved a bomb down its wiring and circuitry and then jumping off as it's insides detonate crashing into the streets below. Tails then looks around the sky only to find that the machine has flown off gaining a fair amount of lead time. Causing Tails to double time in his chase.

Touka meanwhile had gotten her hands on the antidote and was leaving the facility until a barrage of beams pierces the roof wrecking the facility as Swarms attempt to shoot the little girl. "Touka, can you hear me?" "Does it have to be now Tails? I have bogeys all around me!" Touka then punches a Swarm into a wall and grabbed another cannon aiming it to blow up numerous of its fellow drones. Tails responds with. "You need to get out now as something big is coming!" "Something big?" "Yeah some flaming death star thing." Touka finishes killing the last drones before saying. "Flaming death star...?" Realizing that it was time to run and doing so as Kagutsuchi reached the area and began charging the main laser as she ran as fast as possible. Managing to get out of the facility as the massive laser beam fires at the speed of light with Tails trying to rendezvous and headed to join Touka. Who simply smiles and tosses the antidote to Tails as the beam lands causing a massive explosion that incinerates Touka turning her entire body into ash. And sends Tails flying off into the distance colliding onto a concrete wall and getting knocked out and badly burnt while grasping the medicine as everything that wasn't blown up burns as the Kagutsuchi leaves the airspace. With the site of the former facility being left as a massive 300 feet long and wide circular hole in the ground an entire mile deep and rocking the entire sewage system to the point that it could be felt as far away as the satellite sector.

At that time Shadow Sonic was cheering on the devastation as Sonic tried to break free. "A little more and you will be gone." Light shone down at the area dispelling the darkness and sealing off the beast as a young echidna girl descended from the heavens and freed Sonic before whispering something and waking the hedgehog up. "What happened?!" "Sonic!" Amy yelled as she hugged him."I'm glad to see you too. But Tails is in trouble." Sonic then stands up and readies himself. Monika asks what is going on only to learn that some weapon blew up a chunk of the city, killed Touka, and left Tails on death's door. Sonic then runs off as the two girls look confused about it all as Amy continues to look after the glowing Knuckles all the while Monika follows the hedgehog.

Sonic speeds thru the city getting the attention of the Sumeragi troopers with Firewall sending the Kagatsuchi at him. Also a familiar black trailer truck wielding the GUN emblem joins the chase crashing thru the Sumeragi forces. "Oh great, here comes old Truck-kun."

The grim reaper of fantasy

Sonic runs towards a familiar archway thru a part of the city that is based of Los Angeles. Speeding straight under it leading the truck in the hopes it would be smashed only to find that not only did it smash thru the stone archway and keep going. Sonic then rushes towards higher ground only for the truck to tunnel thru the walls and erupt above like a sand worm over and over again. With Sonic counterattacking until it splashes out of the ground and continues his pursuit. Sonic then sees the Kagatsuchi flying towards the carnival area and as a plan forms in his head grins and leads Truck-kun forward. As Sonic bobs and weaves thru the city with the truck keeping pace, even going up walls and roofs and leaping over large chasms. Flying in the skies above Monika was musing about the situation below as she watches Sonic being chased by a truck. "Wow! It's the truck-kun from hell." Monika then senses Tails waking up and quickly heads toward the fox boy.

Monika picks up Tails and then heads to the sewers below noticing his horrible burns. "What happened?" "Touka found the antidote but was killed by that thing in the sky. She was shot by a powerful laser that obliterated an entire production plant." The duo later reach the hideout as Monika puts Tails into the ground with Amy attempting to heal him while Monika readied the antidote. "Is that going to work?" Amy asked as Monika injected the antidote in Knuckles shoulder. "It's fine. It will take a few days for Knuckles to wake up but..." Knuckles begins coughing and then vomits out a stream of glowing hot pink vomit and suddenly woke up with a groan and moan. "What happened?" The echidna asked as everyone was coated with pink puke.

Sonic and the truck reached the carnival which is a mix of Carnival night, Casino night zone, and Twinkle park as the chase continues thru a series of racetracks. Getting noticed by the Kagustchi when Sonic runs past triggers that fires off a series of fireworks that crash onto the battle station. Leading it to fire its main cannon. Something that Sonic easily outruns instead taking down the truck. Vaporizing the truck and causing the trailer to fall down a deep hole. The Kagutsuchi continues firing until switching his attack firing off a barrage of homing arrows that blasted apart the vendors and attractions as the blue blur headed towards the massive Ferris wheel at the center of the carnival. Finally reaching the carnival ride Sonic leaps onto the ride as the Kagatsuchi fires off more laser to stop Sonic and then begins charging the main cannon once more while Sonic runs atop the wheel causing it to gain speed before jumping onto one of the carts and using the momentum to rocket himself towards the machine and ram straight thru it like a comet at the moment of firing while stealing the red chaos emerald causing the Kagatsuchi to explode with its pieces demolishing the remains of the carnival area. An explosion so spectacular that everyone in Metropolis witnessed it. From the rest of the Resistance, to the troopers on the ground, to a furious Firewall who rips apart the handles of his chair in rage and crushes them. Getting up to the terror of the operators when the general makes a simple statement. "Ready the defenses. We will soon be under attack." He then leaves the bridge while the crew prepares for battle.

After the chaos subsided Sonic reunited with the others. Apparently there wasn't any resistance anymore after the battlestation was destroyed and everyone has either fled or are keeping their distance. "So where is the big tin can? It's high time we pay him back for all we went thru." Sonic muses while tapping his foot as everyone gazes at the flames in the distance. Tails then shows up to report that both the general and the shield generator are in a place called the Plunderdome in the top of the mountain close to Castle calamity. Knuckles remarks. "Ah yeah, this place is so weird that I forget we are climbing a giant mountain." With their course set and hearts resolute. The Resistance heads towards the final battle.

The Plunderdome

The 13 acre long sports stadium known as the Plunderdome is in a state of panic. With sirens blaring, spotlights being turned on, and personnel scrambling outside and inside to lock doors and reinforce barricades. With barriers covered with large spikes rising from under the ground and forming a perimeter around it as the remaining members of the Resistance confidently walk towards the front door. Meeting a force that has half retreated and the other half pointing as many guns as they could muster visibly nervous about their situation. With a series of large beam cannons and missile launchers aimed at them for good measure. Sonic steps forward commenting. "Well these guys sure have set up quite a welcome." The Sumeragi's attempt to fight, only for Monika to create an gravity well that demolishes the perimeter defenses. And the entire wall itself. Causing it to crumble like an aluminum can as everyone moved forward with the Sumeragi's unable to do anything but watch as the invaders walk inside the Superdome turned military base.

Entering the inside of the Plunderdome the Resistance passes thru darkened walkways only kept alight by red emergency sirens as they fight their way to the command center. Eventually getting to it thanks to Knuckles being able to punch thru all the doors and gates. Knocking them down using his superior strength. Leading the charge as everyone enters the command center. "Time for me to shine." Knuckles boasts with a smile only for everyone to notice that the room is empty. Caught offguard they find themselves locked in. And before Knuckles could punch out a path the ceiling collapsed landing tons upon tons of debris on them with Firewall looking on from outside and laughing maniacally. "Now you too will become a tribute. Just like your friends. The dome then explodes in a violent manner followed by Knuckles Arc holding a pair of enormous crimson revolvers with Amy's face sticking out from them growing out of the ground unharmed and ready to fight alongside Momonga machine no worse for wear. Firewall steps back as he order for support with Knuckles trying to just squash Firewall by stepping on the robot. Causing him to flee as Tenno attempt to stop them. Which Knuckles and Monika easily deal with it. The Rose cannons easily tear thru waltzers with contemptuous ease with each shot detonating up to half of a waltzer while Monika shot down the assorted aircraft.

"Tch! I guess i'll testing this." Firewall remarks as his chest glows and a shattering sound is heard with strange viscous liquid bursting out of Firewall before withdrawing inside. "Chaos force! Make my monster grow!" Firewall then explodes creating a massive shock wave as the liquid grows and expands eventually taking the form of Firewall who fires off his shoulder cannon to shoot down Monika. Allowing the fighters and missile boats to rain fire on Knuckles Arc as the Tenno pressed forward blades drawn. Only for the Rose cannons to fire off a 15 second barrage of light arrows that annihilate every enemy. "Berserk drive..." A shot from behind rocketed which Monika also tanked and then fired her lasers at Firewall before de-transforming as Knuckles Arc saves her by using his hands then transforming into Sonic Arc and activating the red emerald which causes Sonic to go even faster to close the distance before changing back to Knuckles to give Firewall multiple body blows before changing into Tails Arc and using the red emerald to fire off a powerful beam that causes the general to crash into the remnants of the Plunderdome utterly wrecking whats left and taking out the barrier generator in the process. And then uses the green emerald to bind Firewall with its vines.

Sonic Arc gets closer towards Firewall nothing that it is over and that he should surrender. Only for the latter to fire off more blasts and break free from the vines before firing multiple rockets all over as a distraction. And after getting up unleashes his hand saw and turns on his thrusters. Charging at the hedgehog who dodges it only to get shot by the shoulder cannon. Forcing Sonic to remain at a distance while Firewall positioned for another charge. "Leave it to me!" Knuckles remarked as the trio switched again as the tank like general charged again. Knuckles then catches the saw and shatters it. Firewall counter attacks by shooting the right shoulder causing both to step back in pain. With Firewall switching to dual arm mounted miniguns which he fries at Knuckles who somersaults above him before switching to Sonic who uses his tomahawks to quarter Firewall. Using one blade to cut him horizontally followed by a swift vertical slice. Causing him to shut down, fall to pieces, and explode as the rest of his army fled.

Afterwards Sonic and company left the Plunderdome and headed to the location where Touka died as they perform a memorial for their fallen friends. Everyone was in a somber mood as they made impromptu graves for Sticks and Touka as the sun rose on Spiral cities for the first time. A harbinger of things to come. Everyone leaves to head towards Spiral wastes and the final generator. Afterwards the scene cuts to the two marked graves as the sun begins to shine on the city.

Forsaken fortress, Spiral wastes

In the middle of the wasteland there lies a pyramid. This pyramid surrounded by totems and statues has a single stairway to the top where Dandy is meditating. Sensing that Firewall was defeated he steeled himself. Knowing that the enemy would come. And that the bandaged kaijin has become the last line of defense. Then a pair of Sumeragi troopers showed up carrying a captured Alex Kidd. To which the bug took one good look before unhinging his jaws and sprouting sharp teeth and pincers. Devouring the monkey boy in a brutal manner. Once Alex was swallowed Dandy obtained a boost in power as the latter started summoning aurora curtains.

Anti meanwhile heads to Spiral wastes. Hell bent on revenge against both Sonic and Alex Kidd. As sharp jolts of pain flowed all thru his body.

This chapter is the one that is most based on the Machinedramon episodes in Digimon Adventure. With one of the antagonists controlling a massive city and using a combination of intelligence gathering and sheer brute force. And the heroes struggling to survive while trying to save someone from death.

Red sand poison is an homage to Sasori of the red sand and his metal laden poisons that kill people in three days.

I'm aware that NiGHTS and Reala are a strange mix of gender neutral and being both genders at once. But its too late to change all the pronouns. Besides Reala is so buff and has such a deep voice in Journey of dreams that he probably would identify as a man while NiGHTS would be more androgynous.

By the time of the s.h. 8000's the entire network is completely wireless with a lot of technology utilizing quantumband technology which allows near instant access through the universe. The sole exception being government facilities and databases, major criminal groups like Eggman who uses the Eggnet, and guilds. Mainly those who deal with ancient technology. As for the network its rather similar to the current internet. Full of porn and weird ass shit. With the network being maintained via quantumband. A series of large communications satellites which utilize warp technology to constantly send and receive data at faster than light speeds. These satellites require a comprehensive stabilizer to maintain the warp hole and it is more or less an unspoken rule to not mess with the satellites after the near universal destruction of 1500. Where the dropping of said satellites unto a planet led to both its destruction but the creation of a singularity that nearly the universe/

The Rose cannons for once aren't a Gundam or Getter Robo reference but are actually based off the Breast triggers of Mazinkaiser SKL. Originally Gadget or the Rookie was meant to transform into the weapon but things didn't pan out.
