"So you know The Velveteen Rabbit is my favorite children's book. What's yours?" Chandler asked as Monica and he lay on her bed. He arrived at her apartment around 12am and they were lying on the bed, resting after they had sex, and talking.

"Little Women", Monica said.

"Do you also put the book in the freezer when it gets scary?" Chandler smiled at her. Monica laughed and then the phone rang. She looked at Chandler, surprised, and then turned to the clock. "Who calls me at 1:00am?" She asked and picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Mon," Ross was on the other side, sounding worried.

"What happened?" Monica tensed.

"Dad had a heart attack."

"What?"

Chandler looked at her worriedly.

"He's at the hospital. They took him in an ambulance. Mom is there. I'm on my way there."

"Okay, I'm coming," Monica said and hung up.

"What happened?" Chandler asked as Monica stood up.

"My dad had a heart attack," she said, her voice wavering. She went to the closet and picked the first clothes she saw.

"Oh, Mon, I'm so sorry," he stood up, walked over to her and stroked her back.

They both got dressed quickly.

"I'll call us a cab. It'll probably be hard to find one at this hour."

"Okay," Monica said.

Ten minutes later they got into the cab in front of their building. Chandler held Monica's hand as the cab driver drove to the hospital.

When they got there, Monica rushed to the receptionist and asked for Jack's room number. Chandler and Monica went through the corridors until they finally saw Ross. Monica ran over to him and hugged him.

"Hey," he said, hugging her back. "They said he'll be okay. He's just resting."

Monica let out a breath and closed her eyes. She broke from the hug and squeezed Ross's arm.

Then Ross noticed Chandler.

"Hey, what are you doing here?"

"Oh," Chandler fumbled. "Um… I didn't want Monica to get here alone at the middle of the night."

Ross looked at him oddly. It didn't explain why they were together at the middle of the night. Maybe she woke him up.

"Oh, thank you, man," Ross smiled at him, deciding that that made sense.

"Where's mom?" Monica asked.

"She just went to get coffee. She'll be right back."

"Okay," Monica walked over to a chair and sat on it. Chandler set next to her. Ross paced the room. A few minutes later, their mother arrived.

"Oh, sweety," Judy said when she saw Monica. Monica stood up and hugged her.

"What happened?" Monica asked.

"Well, your father woke me up around 12:00am and told me that he was having pains in his chest. I called 911 immediately."

They talked a bit more and then Monica went back to sit. Ross sat down as well and he looked at Chandler and Monica. He saw that Chandler was holding Monica's hand and stroking it and she was leaning on him. It wasn't like he hasn't seen them close before, but something about it felt weird.

Eventually, a nurse came over and told them that Jack was awake and that they could see him one at a time. Judy went in first, then Ross and after Ross came out of the room, Monica hurried to go in.

When she came back, her eyes were glistening with tears that she tried to hold back. Chandler stood up and walked over to her. He wrapped his arms around her and she rested her head on his chest, crying.

"He looked so tiny and weak," she mumbled into Chandler's shirt as her tears soaked into it.

Chandler stroked her hair. "It's okay. He's going to be okay. Your father is feisty."

Monica chuckled. He kissed the top of her head and Ross narrowed his eyes, looking at him suspiciously.

They went back to sit down and Chandler wrapped his arm around her shoulder. Monica leant on his chest and closed her eyes.

After a while, Monica said that she wanted to get coffee and asked if anyone else wanted a cup. Her brother nodded and she and Chandler went away.

"Ross, you didn't tell me Monica was seeing Chandler," Judy said, looking accusingly at her son.

"What? They're not seeing each other," Ross said.

Judy lifted an eyebrow.

"I'm telling you, they're not together."

"That doesn't look like that," she said.

Ross looked at his mother, confused, and then started to question himself. Were they together? They did get to the hospital together at night. Monica kept seeking Chandler the whole time they were there. He kept his hand on her on all times. And both of them haven't been dating anyone for a while. Usually they would moan about their dating life, but he hasn't heard them complain about it for a while.

But there was no way. His mother must be imagining things.

Chandler and Monica got back a few minutes later and Monica handed Ross his coffee. He thanked her and then watched as they sat back down, again engulfed in each other.

When Monica went to talk to her mother, Ross finally had an opportunity and he walked over to Chandler.

"Dude, what were you doing with my sister at 1:00am?"

"Uh…" Chandler rubbed the back of his neck. He looked over to Monica, who was oblivious to her brother giving him the third degree. He looked back at Ross and thought about lying to him, but he felt it was inappropriate considering the situation.

"Look, man, Monica and I have been seeing each other, secretly."

Ross gaped at him. Silence stretched between them.

"How long?" He finally asked.

"Um, since London."

"Since London?" Ross said, stepping closer to Chandler.

Chandler took a few steps back.

"Look, you can hit me later," he said, holding up his hands, "but Monica needs us at the moment, so let's put it aside for the time being, okay?"

"Okay," Ross said, "but I'm not done with you," he turned and walked over to Judy and Monica.

After an hour, Ross told the others that they should go home and get some sleep, and that he'll stay at the hospital. They agreed and went on their way.

Chandler and Monica got into Monica's apartment and went into her room. They changed into their pyjamas and settled down in bed, Chandler's arm around Monica.

"Ross knows about us."

"What?"

"When you went to get coffee with you mom, he started giving me the third degree and I cracked. He was suspicious as to why I came with you to the hospital in the middle of the night."

"How did he react?"

"He was shocked, but we decided not to go into it at the moment because of what was going on. I told him he could hit me at another time."

Monica chuckled. "I'm so glad you're here with me," she said. She turned around in his embrace, "I don't know what I'll do without you. You're my best friend."

Chandler smiled at her and stroked her cheek. "I hope that I'm more than your best friend," he said.

Monica cuddled closer to him. She closed her eyes and whispered against his lips, "You're my best everything."

Chandler's breath caught in his throat. He felt a strong surge of love towards her. No one has ever spoke to him like that. He never felt that he was that important to anyone. He stroked her cheek again.

"Hey," he whispered, "look at me."

Monica opened her eyes and moved her head up, looking at him.

"I love you, Monica," he said. It was the first time he said it to her.

Monica looked at him intently. "I love you too, Chandler," she whispered back.

He closed his eyes and leant down to kiss her roughly on her lips, the kiss taking their breath away. When they broke apart, she turned around and cuddled into him. He put his arm around her and linked their fingers together tightly.

In the morning, Chandler woke up to Monica getting dressed.

"Hey," he said. "Good morning."

"Good morning," she looked at him. "Will you go with me to the hospital?" She asked.

"Of course," he said and rose up from the bed.

"Thank you," she said.

"Alright, I'll go get a shower and get changed."

"Okay."

He leaned down and gave her a kiss on the check, then put on his clothes and left the room.

An hour later they arrived at the hospital with Joey and Rachel and joined Judy, Ross and Phoebe. Like the night before, Chandler and Monica spent most of the time together, Chandler making sure she had everything she needed all the time and being there to put a hand on her back. Ross noticed how no one, except for his mother and him, seemed to notice that there was anything going on between them. They were always close.

Jack was released home that night and the gang went back to Monica and Rachel's apartment to drink some beer, eat some pizza and unwind.

When Chandler went to the kitchen to grab another beer, Ross walked over to him.

"Hey," Ross said quietly.

"Hey. Are you going to hit me now?"

Ross smiled. "No. I wanted to tell you that I've seen how much good you do to my little sister. How much you've been there for her, and not just since you guys got together, but always. So, thank you, and I hope you're happy together."

Chandler smiled. "I don't know about her, but she makes me happier than I've ever been before."

Ross could see he meant it. He was in a better mood in the last few months. "You're going to make me cry, stop it," he chuckled and hugged Chandler.

When they broke the hug, Chandler looked over to Monica, who was looking at Ross and smiling. He walked over and set next to her.

"Hey," he whispered.

"Hey. So, how did it go?"

"Good," he smiled. "And I think that if Ross accepted it so easily, we could probably tell the rest."

"Really?" she looked at him, surprised.

He nodded and smiled at her. She smiled back and grabbed his hand.

"Hey, guys. There's something Chandler and I need to tell you."
