Chapter 8: The New Status Quo
Bruno had finally got out of the hospital. He had to get used to his new bedroom, as the second Casita a non-quirk bedroom in place of his old room. It was in a tower like his old room, but it was a normal room instead of vision cave. It a difficult as he still spent all day in the Hospital… but this time spending time with Eri who wasn't cleared yet… or to have visitors beyond Bruno.
After all Eri was very powerful and also highly traumatized.
At the moment only his room had a hammock as her spent almost all his time at the Historical with Eri.
He would eat breakfast and Dinner as either Casita depending on the family's mood but he would spend all day at the hospital and his family understood.
After she was his daughter and a part of the family now…
They could only be patient with the situation.
They also finally met Aizawa.
Julieta also fed him as he had old injuries from a fight months beforehand. The injury caused him to have a short time he could use his quirk as well as some scar.
Thanks to Julieta's cooking he was now at 100 percent at well.
Though after the healing he did have to ask this question…
"Does your quirk work on drinks?" he asked.
Show looked at him unsure how to respond… then noticed his heavy eye bags.
"If you're referring to coffee, no my gift doesn't work on it." Said Julieta with amusement.
"You get that question a lot don't you?" asked Aizawa.
"I do." She laughed.
But he wasn't the only staff member that she healed, as she and Recovery Girl figured out a way to heal Yagi.
The plan was to feed him a small meal then put him on a nutrient drip.
"All right we'll do this for a week, if you have no improvements then we're going to have to stop." Said Recovery Girl.
"I understand." Sighed Yagi.
HE began to eat, which was tasty despite the limitations placed on the food.
He did feel a little better but wasn't sure if it was the placebo effect or not.
"(Thank you.)" Yagi told Julieta in Spanish.
"(You're welcome.)" she said hoping that it did work.
"Also I would advise that if it doesn't work… that you final meal as part of this isn't a double bacon cheese burger…" said Recovery Girl.
"What's that?" asked Julieta.
"An American food that's very unhealthy." Said Recovery Girl, "Even if there is a lot calories in it, I still don't advise it…"
Yagi sighed at that.
Well if it worked then he'd have to get one on his own time then…
Lunch Rush might be a better person to get it though…
Also other things were going on with them.
Nezu brought in a vet to give not only some of Antonio's friends (not all as it would take a lot of shots and they didn't have enough but also to Luisa's new kitten that she named Athena.
Also one of Antonio's friends that had gotten their shot was Parce, his Jaguar friend.
So it wasn't that uncommon to see Antonio riding around the campus at times.
Of course many students had seen him.
One day during lunch… Izuku, Ochaco, Iida and Shoto walked passed a group in the cafeteria.
"Look! I swear! I saw a little boy riding around on a leopard!" said one of the students.
"No way man! That's just a rumor." Said one of students friends.
"It's a Jaguar…" interrupted Shoto.
"What?" asked the student.
"The big cat is a jaguar… not a leopard." Said Shoto.
"What makes you say that?" asked Student.
Before anyone in their group could say something.
"Wait… do Columbia have Jaguars?" asked one of his other friends.
"I think so… let me check…" said the student putting together the pieces while checking his phone.
The first friend also did.
"Oh… they are…" said the first friend.
"I told you so." Said the student, "There's a kid riding around on a big spotted cat…"
"Should you have butted into that conversation?" asked Iida.
"It's fine…" said Shoto.
Yeah… Shoto was paying attention to that family for many reasons…
Also he tried to talk to Mirabel again one day…
"You know your hair is very curly…" he told her one day she was hanging out in the common room.
"I know…" said Mirabel trying not to be weirded out by him.
His attempt at flirting were still very painful…
Also Bruno knew he had to rip off a certain band-aid when it came to Pepa.
Telling her what happened to Eri.
Thankfully there was plenty of empty places to tell her.
But of course the resulting storm was a big one.
So much so that it reached throughout the campus.
"This is very peculiar! The weather did not predict a storm. And there doesn't appear to be one anywhere else." Said Iida.
"I think Bruno told his sister about what happened Eri…" said Tsuyu.
"Wait what is his other sister's quirk?" asked Kaminari.
"Her emotions alter the weather." Said Sero.
None of their classmates new all of the details… but they knew what happened to Eri was bad.
And a storm this terrible… yeah none of them were surprised.
In a clearing that where Pepa stormed, Bruno, Flix, Julieta and Alma all watched from a storm shelter that one of the teachers had created for them in advanced.
"This is worse than the storm she had on her wedding…" mumbled Flix.
"Where she learn such language?" asked Alma as Pepa was unleashing a long strig of curses.
"Mama… she probably heard it from around the town." Said Bruno.
Alma sighed, normally she didn't like when Pepa changed the weather like this.
But in this case let the storm rage on…
To be fair she only outwardly disagreed with what Pepa was saying.
Inside she wanted to make Chisaki suffer for what he did to her family.
That was when they heard the worst thing Pepa had said… it was a partially nasty threat.
"Pepa!" scolded Alma, "Where does she even come up with stuff?"
"I think this is happens when she keeps it all inside." Said Bruno, "Also it would be a fitting death…"
Alma looked at her son.
"What he's a germaphobe." Said Bruno.
"Really?" asked Felix.
"Yeah… he wore a face mask and gloves all the time." Said Bruno.
Flix nodded.
"He does diverse to have Pepa shove her hands…" said Felix.
"Felix…" scolded his mother in law.
Felix sighed as the storm counited to rage on while Julieta sighed.
Also they learned some things… namely why the 7 students were part of the raid.
There was a thing called Work Studies so that students learning to be heroes could work for heroes at interns.
All 7 of them were working or Hero Agencies that helped in the raid.
Fumikage was also someone who did work studies but the hero he worked for wasn't one of the ones in the raid obviously.
Though a side effect of this was that often the 8 of them had to do catch up work for school. It wasn't every evening but many…
Though due to the death of the hero during the raid the Work Studies was suspended.
And there was also the Funeral for the hero Sir Nighteye.
Not only did the Madrigal Family attend but all of the heroes that attended the raid, but also Yagi.
Of course as she promised Rosetta joined in.
"Thank you acting as a translator for us." Said Alma.
"You need this as a way to pay your respects to him…" said Rosetta.
They headed to the funereal in a bush as there was a lot to go through.
"Does Eri know what's going on?" Izuku asked Bruno on the way there.
"I just told her that I had to do something important today." Explained Bruno, "I don't know when or if should even tell her…"
Izuku nodded at the man.
Alma was quiet during conversation… she wasn't sure if she should tell her son that he should tell Eri about the man's sacrifice.
After all there were differences between her story and this one… but there were still similarities.
The large group went to the funeral.
Izuku and Mirio who worked for the hero went to two other heroes there. One was a girl with blue skin and the other was a man with a centipede for a head.
"Midoriya and Togata worked for Sir Nighteye…" explained Aizawa.
Of course it was a somber affair. It was a funeral.
It rained but to be fair Pepa was miserable which was the cause the rain.
However it was clear that Alma was especially miserable.
Yagi noticed the look on her face and knew he had to talk to her.
"Is everything okay?" asked Yagi.
"I wonder if we tried to search for Eri when we found about her we could have void this…" said Alma.
"How though?" asked Yagi.
"What?" sked Alma.
"You had not idea that your son was in Japan." He pointed out.
Alma wasn't sure how to respond to that.
"When I was hero, I learned that you couldn't save everyone." Said Yagi, "You had to save the people who were right there in front of you…"
"You were a hero?" asked Alma.
"It wasn't any villain attack that cost me my stomach and lung…" said Yagi.
Alma blushed a little in embarrassment.
"You were on the other side of the world…" said Yagi, "And I understand lamenting these things even if you did know… would have been able to have done something?" he asked.
Alma didn't answer.
Still a stranger gave his life to save her son and granddaughter.
"He was my sidekick before he became his own hero…" said Yagi.
Alma's eyes widened now understanding why he there.
"We had a bad falling out…" said Yagi, "There was a lot we disagreed on after I had gotten injuries and we only patched things up on his death bed…"
"I'm so sorry…" whispered Alma in shock at this news.
"Thank you…" said Yagi, "Though I should tell you that he and you son had something in common… his Quirk was also being able to see into the future…"
Alma's eyes widened.
"He predicted that I would die a horrible death soon and because he thought the future was set in stone there was no way to change it… he also predicted that Young Midoriya would die during the raid…" said Yagi.
"But he's alive…" said Alma.
"He is…" said Yagi with a grin, "And I've been feeling better thank to your daughter's cooking."
Alma knew about what she was doing to help him…
"It will probably take a month to completely heal… but I'm doing much better." Said Yagi.
"That's wonderful news…" said Alma.
Yagi nodded.
"Something that he wanted was for everyone to keep smiling." Said Yagi.
Alma blinked unsure how to take this news.
But even if the man was as old as her children, it was clear that he knew what he was talking about.
Meanwhile Isabela approached Tamaki.
"Hi…" said Isabela.
Tamaki nodded at her.
"Are you feeling okay?" asked Isabela.
"I'm. fine… I only met him a few times…" he said, "I'm worried about Mirio."
"Oh…" said Isabela.
"Sir Nighteye was his mentor." Said Tamaki.
Isabela knew this… and went to talk to Mirio.
She looked at Tamaki as she walked to talk to the blonde boy, internally sighing.
Bruno watched his niece walk away from the boy.
"What is it?" asked Pepa noticing the look on his face.
"It's nothing…" he said.
After the funeral they went back to school.
"Once again I'm sorry for your loss." Said Rosetta.
"Thank you Rosetta for helping us." Said Yagi.
"It wasn't a problem… I offered even before learning all of the details." Said Rosetta.
Yagi laughed somewhat embarrassed at that.
"What are they talking about?" asked Mirabel to Izuku.
"I don't know if you would believe me…" he laughed.
That night Luísa was researching heroes on her phone. After all this was a new thing for her… and she had met quite a few during the funeral. All she knew was they used their gifts to help people in various ways and the school was training most students to be heroes.
She watched many videos from all around the world and the profession was amazing and there were so many about heroes… some bad but many good.
That was when she stumbled on one that changed everything…
One called All Might's Debut…
It showed a very muscular man saving over 100 people from a terrible fire and he just kept going.
She watched in awe…
It was amazing and it was clear that he had super strength as well and he was doing such amazing things.
Meanwhile Izuku got a weird feeling…
He did 't know why he got the feeling but he shrugged it off…
It should also be noted that Izuku's dorm room was absolutely covered in All Might merchandise.
Back in her room Luisa had someone to look up to… even if she didn't know everything at the moment.
Meanwhile Dolores was getting some water in the kitchen when suddenly she heard something… something horrible that made her squeak, and it was shock she dropped the glass she was using.
"Is everything okay?" asked Mirabel coming down.
"I'm fine." Said Dolores, "Just a broken glass."
"Okay…" said Mirabel, "Also it wasn't Mineta doing something was it?"
"No…: answered Dolores.
"Okay… good…" said Mirabel.
"Bedsides I'm used to it…" whispered Dolores who then squeaked thinking about all she's heard.
Thankfully Casita cleared up the mess.
"Okay…" said Mirabel going back to bed.
Dolores got another glass, drank it then went back to her room.
She found a site that translated Romaji.
She was fluent in Japanese, but couldn't read it. She overheard the lessons after not… she couldn't really learn the reading part from overhearing it after all.
So in order to properly translate what she overheard she needed to translate what she overheard into Sanji then do a search for it on her phone.
She began to sweat as she had looked up both the "League of Villains" and "All for One" on her phone…
She once again squeaked as she learned what those things were…
She had just stumbled on something really bad…
After all she did just stumble onto a traitor that was betraying to a group that attacked the school multiple times so far…
And she wasn't sure if she should keep it a secret or not…
Next Time: Luisa wants to learn more about All Might! But Izuku knows that she needs to know about the current state he's in... Meanwhile Isabela is wondering about a prediction that Bruno made when she was younger... While Dolores is doing her best to keep in what she discovered...
