Chapter: 12
XxX~ ( Back at the Eastern Air Temple ) ~XxX
Aang and Pathik were sitting on a ledge, overseeing the sunset. "Third is the Fire Chakra, located in the stomach." Pathik informed the Avatar, Aang who was holding his stomach.
"My Fire Chakra would like to eat something other than onion-banana juice." Aang said, a little downcasted. Pathik chuckled.
"Good one! Moving on. This chakra deals with willpower, and is blocked by shame. What are you ashamed of?" The dark skinned man asked, Aang visionised his first attempt at firebending, which resulted in him accidentally burning Katara's hands.
"What are your biggest disappointments in yourself?" The guru asked. Aang turned his head away from the sunset.
"I'm never going to firebend again. I can't." Aang whispered the last part.
"You will never find balance if you deny this part of your life. You are the Avatar and therefore, you are a firebender." Guru-Pathik said, Aang breathed deeply and his vision faded.
"Hmmm ... that chakra opened less like a flowing creek, and more like a ... burping bison." Aang lets out a loud belch/burp.
"Tastes like onions and bananas, but strangely something else. Pickles?" The airbender asked, to which Pathik shrugs his shoulders.
"The fourth chakra is located in the heart. It deals with love and is blocked by grief." Pathik told Aang who smiled and looked at an Air Nomad statue nearby before looking sad.
"Lay all your grief out in front of you." Aang sees images of many airbenders, including Monk-Gyatso and Avatar-Yangchen. He smiles upon seeing them, but becomes saddened as they start to vanish into smoke.
"You have indeed felt a great loss." The airbenders appear floating in the clouds.
"But love is a form of energy, and it swirls all around us." Aang is lifted into the air and sees the Air Nomads floating in the smoke. "The Air Nomad's love for you has not left this world. It is still inside of your heart, and is reborn in the form of new love." Pathik said, smiling softly at the memories that came to him from his nomad day's. The smoke in front of Aang forms a face and shows the first thing he saw upon waking up from his iceberg, seeing Katara's beautiful face. Back in the real world, Aang started crying tears of joy.
"Let the pain flow away." Pathik advised, Aang wipes away his tears. "Very good."
"Can I have some onion-banana juice, please?" Aang asked politely.
They were then inside another part of the temple. "The fifth in the chain is the Sound Chakra, located in the throat. It deals with truth and is blocked by lies. The ones we tell ourselves."
Aang flashes back to when he, Katara, and Sokka first began their journey to the North Pole. This is when they first encountered Prince-Zuko. "Why didn't you tell us you were the Avatar?" Katara asked, Aang's flashback ended and he went back to the real world, Aang found himself answering the question in real time.
"Because I never wanted to be." He recited his previous answer.
"You cannot lie about your own nature. You must accept that you are the Avatar." Pathik reminded him of his responsibility.
Aang inhales and, seeing an image of himself on a cliff looking down at the ground, exhales, and accepts his nature.
"Very good, Aang. You have opened the chakra of truth."
They walked around the temple to find the perfect place to open the next chakra and ended up in a part outside the temple interior.
"The sixth pool of energy is the light chakra, located in the center of the forehead. It deals with insight and is blocked by illusion. The greatest illusion of this world is the illusion of separation. Things you think are separate and different are actually one in the same." Pathik explained sagely, Aang theorised he was talking about something important.
"Like the four nations!"
"Yes. We are all one people, but we live as if divided." Pathik said.
"We're all connected. Everything is connected." Aang said.
"That's right! Even the separation of the four elements is an illusion. If you open your mind, you will see that all the elements are one. Four parts of the same whole. Even metal is just a part of earth that has been purified and refined."
XxX~ ( At the palace ) ~XxX
Back at the palace, two Dai Li agents hid on two pillars and secretly spied on a conversation between Mai and Ty-Lee. The former is sitting on the stairs cleaning her nails with a knife and the latter is practicing chi blocking and acrobatics. Mai sighed in annoyance, she was sick of wearing this disgusting dress the Kyoshi-Warriors wear, she used the phrase warriors loosely.
"I'm tired of wearing this girly disguise. I don't know how anyone could fight in this." She complained, Ty-Lee was doing some outdoor yoga when Mai said that.
"Maybe that's why it was so easy to beat the Kyoshi-Warriors and take their clothes." She theorised, going into downward dog, showing that she had a rather sizeable behind when she stuck it in the air.
"How much longer do we have to serve the Earth King? If I have to clean up one more pile of bear poop, I'm going to throw up." The lazy girl said, cracking her neck, eliciting a few cracks.
"Princess-Azula promised we would go back to the Fire Nation as soon as we captured the Avatar. We just have to be patient Mai." Ty-Lee said, shifting into the cobra pose. Hearing the mention of 'Fire Nation', Mai stood up.
"Shush up! Do you want the whole palace to know we're Fire Nation?" Mai asked in a chastising tone.
"Sorry." Ty-Lee apologised in a meek tone. The agents hiding smiled and climbed away. Azula, who was hiding behind another pillar, walks up to them.
"Good work, girls. I'm sure the Dai Li will deliver the message." Azula said with a smirk, Ty-Lee stood and saluted to Azula. Mai laid back down, enjoying the disgusting sun's heat.
"Sir, yes sir!" Ty-Lee saluted, Azula laid her eyes upon Mai expectantly.
"I am not doing that." Mai said blankly, Azula fidgeted a bit.
"Do any of you know where Menma ran off too? He left in the morning and I don't know where or why he left." Azula explained her dilemma. Ty-Lee sent a teasing smirk her way.
"Ohh~ Are you afraid some chick will steal Menma from you?" She said teasingly, Mai smiled and Azula cursed under her breath.
"C'mon Azula, we can see how you look at him." Mai said, standing up.
"Ok! Ok! Is that what you wanna hear!? I have a crush on Menma! Are you happy?!" She screamed for the world to hear, Ty-Lee and Mai's smirk made her anxious, what were they planning?
She wondered why Ty-Lee was smirking and she was surprised Mai could show any other emotion than irritability or an uninterestedness for everything around her being.
Princess-Azula, disguised as Suki from the Kyoshi-Warriors, watched their eyes move to behind her. Turning around, she saw who she'd thought she would've never guessed.
Menma!
"Menma! Hi, uhh… shoot." Azula whispered under her breath when she turned back around to Mai and Ty-Lee. Menma whistles, the mating call of the mockingbird, matter-a-factly. A bird then appeared from out of nowhere, the male bird sensed the sudden hormones Azula was sending towards Menma and it flew to her, she caught the bird and threw it away, sending a flame in its wake.
"Azula!" Ty-Lee chastised Azula, Menma jumped and did a mid-air flip, catching the dead, featherless bird, he took a bite out of it, moaning at the tasty flavour.
Ty-Lee and Azula gaped, while Mai whistled at Menma, he ripped a wing off and chucked it to the lazy female, she used her mouth to catch the bird wing and munched savagely into it.
"How can you guys eat a poor bird?!" Ty-Lee screamed and asked, Azula found it arousing how Menma savagely bit into the cooked bird. Mai burped.
"Don't blame me, Naruto was the one that got me into eating that stuff like that." Mai grumbled, Menma crushed the bird he was chowing on, the bones cracking being evident.
"Menma, what's wrong?" Ty-Lee asked worriedly, placing a hand on his shoulder, he backhanded her but luckily she dodged with her acrobatic skills.
"Menma, what's wrong with you?!" Mai asked, getting her knife ready if needed.
"Whatever!" He huffed, walking away, forgetting at Azula's confession, it was just Mai mentioning Naruto that set him off.
"Awkward…" Ty-Lee said curtly.
Today is such a strange day?
XxX~ ( With Naruto ) ~XxX
He usually walked through the streets of Ba Sing Se, in the upper ring in fact. He normally sent his reports in person but he sent a messenger hawk to do it for him. Walking leisurely through the streets, people of high class looked at his tattered poncho and gave a scoff of disgust.
He ignored them and walked to a popular tea-shop that caught his eye by the name,
The Jasmine Dragon
If his hunch was correct then he'd find some friends he thought he wouldn't see ever again.
XxX~ ( Flashback - 6 years ago - Outside the Fire Nation ) ~XxX
A younger Naruto can be seen walking in the outskirts of the Fire Nation, he would come here for the last four days, waiting for his dad to return from his mission. He would spend up to an hour or two waiting for his father, something didn't sit right with his instincts and he always followed them to the tea.
In the distance he saw a large silhouette, flapping wings attached to a long slithering body, squinting his eyes, he zoomed in closer with his impressive sight and saw a…
"A Dragon of Legend!" Naruto exclaimed, the blonde boy jumped off the cliff he was standing on and slid down the grassy mountain, dodging trees that were in his way.
The dragon landed at the river bank, it lowered its head, and a human with blonde hair fell off the dragon. The dragon was a dark shade of grey with hints of gold mixed with its feather-like scales. It had mighty looking horns and had golden draconian eyes.
Naruto reached the dragon and cautiously approached the dragon, he then sped to the fallen humans side when he recognised the man, it was his father.
His father was a handsome man, one of the most desired men in the Fire Nation; he was sporting blonde spiky hair, two long bangs on each side of his head, he had amber eyes that had a flame of the hottest fire ever inside.
He wore a black poncho with a hood-built into it. He had Fire Nation pants, but it seemed his boots were destroyed.
"Dad!" Naruto called out, the dragon stopped him in his tracks but Naruto flipped over the overgrown lizard like it was insignificant. He slid on his knees, stopping in front of his wounded, turning him over onto his back, his fathers breathing was laboured.
"N-naruto… my son. You're ok." Minato said, he ruffled Naruto's short hair with a smile.
"Dad, w-what happened to you? Wh-where is your platoon?!" Naruto asked, trying to stop the blood that was pouring out of his dad's open lung. Minato scoffed, he ripped an arrow out of his shoulder, grimacing in pain.
"Platoon, more like traitors." He sat up with some help from Naruto and leaned on the dragon.
"Dad, what happened to you?" Naruto asked, sitting next to his father, Minato rested his arm around his son, pulling him closer. Minato's breathing staggered.
"Naruto, there's something I m-must tell you." He had trouble saying, Naruto looked at his father in confusion, a couple tears poured from his eyes at seeing his dad's vulnerable state, he was usually the strong, confident father, but now Naruto saw a tired, wounded shell of his father.
"Your mother i- (cough) is most likely dead… I don't think they'd k-ill your little-brother." Minato said, coughing a ton of blood into his other hand.
"Dad! Whose they?!" Naruto asked loudly, not caring if anyone heard.
"The Fire Nation. Menma told Azula, Ozai was then told a-about your bending!" He gasped as more blood poured from his head. "He wants to corrupt you a-and Menma into d-doing his b-biding." He struggled saying.
"How do you know this?"
"Because that platoon I was with, blabbered it all to me, the plans, the outcomes, they wanted to use the power of Sozin's Comet to lay waste upon the Earth Nation." Minato scoffed, coughing again, he started losing the color from his skin, his usual tan was now pale.
"What do I do?" Naruto asked, Minato hugged his son one last time.
"Leave. Pack your things and leave, they probably sent firebenders to the main house, g-go to the safe house, in my study, there is an egg, a yellow egg covered in green markings. Take it, and leave." Minato exclaimed.
"But what about you?!" Naruto asked, tears spilling from his eyes.
"I'm already gone, my chapter ended way before you were born. It's time for you to write your own story…" Minato smiled kindly, Naruto hugged his father one last time, he then proceeded to take his poncho off and wrapped it around Naruto.
"What about Menma?"
"If he talked with your mother as well, he'll be at the safe house. If not, it's already too late, he would've been taken away." Minato said sadly, remembering all the fond moments he spent with his family.
"I'll find a way, I'll save him. And we'll be a family once more." Naruto said determinedly.
"The Will of Fire lives within you. Don't let it be snuffed out." Minato said, Naruto kissed his dad's forehead, he used earthbending to propel himself into the sky, to the far east.
"So… are you ready, old friend?" The dragon spoke into Minato's mind.
'Yes my friend. I am ready to repay you.' Minato mentally said, his eyes began glowing, as did his body, it was then sucked into the mouth, nose, and eyes of the dragon.
"Your debt has been paid for, Minato, Akame." The dragon said before flying away, it suddenly wrapped its wings around its body and disappeared into golden light.
XxX~ ( With Naruto ) ~XxX
Naruto was running fast, jumping from building to building, he was currently in the volcanic city of the Fire Nation, he was running to a certain location.
The orphanage...
Barging into the orphanage Naruto saw who he was looking for.
"Rustage!" Naruto called out.
"Sup, Boss." The black/red combo haired boy greeted. He was wearing a grey top with a flame insignia on his stomach, he had black pants along with some sandals, his hair wasn't tied, it fell below his eyes.
"You wanna go on an adventure to save the Three Nations from the Fire Nation?" Naruto asked with a grin, Rustage punched a fiery fist into his palm with a grin.
"I'm fired up now! Let's go!" He shouted, he and Naruto jumped out of the massive hole the blonde created. Rustage was being used as a jet pack, Naruto pointed where to go and Rustage would follow; he was above him and holding his armor for leverage.
XxX~ ( Flashback end ) ~XxX
After 10 minutes of walking, a surprised Katara bumped into him, both of them tumbling over, it ended with Katara on top of Naruto.
"Naruto!" Katara exclaimed, getting off the blonde, he sat up with a plank of earth to help him. Katara pointed to the tea shop he was looking for. "We have to warn the Earth-king! Prince-Zuko and his Uncle have infiltrated the city!" Katara said in a panicky tone.
"I wouldn't recommend telling the Earth-king. But you're gonna do it anyway." Naruto said.
"I have to go!" Katara ran in the direction of the palace. Naruto shrugged his shoulders.
"What's the point of being the right-hand man of the Earth-king if you can't frighten them?" Naruto asked, entering the teashop. He walked to the reservation woman.
"Hello there, we brew tea and cook bread, how may I help you?" The reservation woman said politely, Naruto whistled, Iroh was getting around in the world.
"A table for two please, and can I have two garlic bread with a Da Hong Pao tea please." Naruto said calculatingly, the woman's eyebrow raised in confusion.
"I'm sorry, but I don't seem to know that blend, but coming up!" The woman said excitedly, she voiced it to Zuko or Lee who gave the order back to Iroh.
'It can't be… Minato?' Iroh looked at who wanted this tea and saw the emerald eyes looking back at him. "Not Minato, but Naruto…" Iroh smiled.
XxX~ ( Air temple ) ~XxX
Aang and Pathik were sitting at the top of the temple at night, under the beautiful stars.
"This is the last chakra, isn't it?" Aang asked, Pathik nodded seriously.
"Yes. Once you open this chakra, you will be able to go in and out of the Avatar State at will and when you are in the Avatar State, you will have complete control and awareness of all your actions." Guru-Pathik explained with a serious tone, Aang looked down for a second before giving the Guru his most determined stare.
"Let's do this." Aang yipped. "The Thought Chakra is located at the crown of the head. It deals with pure cosmic energy, and is blocked by earthly attachment. Meditate on what attaches you to this world." Pathik instructed, images of Katara appear before Aang.
"Now, let all of those attachments go. Let them flow down the river, forgotten." He said in finality. Aang sputtered hearing this, coming out of his meditation as well.
"What? Why would I let go of Katara? I ... I love her!" Aang confessed, Pathik sighed sadly, this was one of the struggles with being the Avatar.
"Learn to let her go, or you cannot let the pure cosmic energy flow in from the universe." Pathik said, Aang turned his head with his chin tilted upwards.
"Why would I choose cosmic energy over Katara?" Aang proceeded to throw his hands up. "How could it be a bad thing that I feel an attachment to her? Three chakras ago that was a good thing!" Aang exclaimed angrily, thinking what game this guru was playing.
"You must learn to let go." Pathik said.
XxX~ ( Back at the palace ) ~XxX
Back at the palace, Katara runs to inform the Earth-king, only to encounter the "Kyoshi Warriors".
"Thank goodness you're here, Suki. Something terrible is going on. The Fire Nation has infiltrated the city, I just saw Prince Zuko and his uncle!" Katara exclaims, Azula widens her eyes in surprise before smiling slyly. "We have to tell the Earth King right away!" Katara panicked.
"Oh, don't worry, I'll be sure to let him know." Azula said, her golden eyes glistening. Katara notices "Suki" has gold eyes and is shocked upon realization that the "Kyoshi-Warriors" are actually Azula, Mai, and Ty-Lee.
She prepares to attack, but Ty-Lee quickly jumps forward, doing handsprings and jumps over Katara, blocking her chi with a single touch. While the three girls gather around the fallen Katara; Azula nudges Katara's head with her foot.
"So, Zuzu's in the city, too? I think it's time for a family reunion." Azula said sinisterly. In the distance, Momo can be seen flying off.
Mai then got a thought, turning to Ty-Lee she wore a smirk. "I wonder if Naruto will come?" Mai wondered, this question made Ty-Lee growl, she cracked her knuckles while looking down at Katara.
"If he comes to save her, then I'll have a word with him!" Ty-Lee growled, Naruto was hers, and nobody else's.
XxX~ ( The Eastern Air Temple ) ~XxX
"I'm sorry, but I can't let go of Katara." The Avatar said, downcasted.
"Aang, to master the Avatar State, you must open all the chakras. Surrender yourself." Pathik said.
"Okay, I'll try." Aang replied uncertain if he should try.
"Now think of your attachments and let them go. Let the pure cosmic energy flow." Guru-Pathik instructed, Aang started seeing an image of him letting Katara go, and a bridge that will lead him to Avatar State mastery. An astral form appeared at the end of the bridge, it was purple with his airbending markings glowing.
As he is being surrounded by energy, however, he hears a shriek from Katara and sees a vision of her in chains. He runs away from the end of the road. This cuts his connection to the Avatar State, which drops him back to reality. "Katara's in danger! I have to go!" Aang yells, prepares to exit.
"No, Aang! By choosing attachment, you have locked the chakra! If you leave now, you won't be able to go into the Avatar State at all!" Pathik warns, Aang hesitates but leaves anyway, leaving Pathik concerned.
XxX~ ( Chameleon Bay ) ~XxX
While everything was happening at the palace and with Aang, Sokka was preparing for battle as Hakoda approached Sokka.
"Ready to go knock some Fire Nation heads?" Hakoda asked with a grin, Sokka stood fully, showing he is almost his dads height.
"You don't know how much this means to me, Dad. I'll make you proud and I'll finally prove to you what a great warrior I am." Sokka said. Placing his hand on Sokka's shoulder, Hakoda smiled proudly.
"Sokka, you don't have to prove anything to me. I'm already proud of you and I've always known you're a great warrior." Hakoda said.
"Really?" Sokka asked.
"Why do you think I trusted you to look after our tribe when I left?" Hakoda asked, walking past him. Just as the two are boarding the ship, Aang and Appa appear. Aang shows a clear look of concern.
"This can't be good news." Sokka said, Sokka leaves the boats and climbs up on Appa, Aang and Sokka depart. Just as they're leaving, Sokka looks back at Hakoda, who looks back and grins.
XxX~ ( Back with at the Jasmine Dragon ) ~XxX
A hooded man was eating his bread that he ordered and drinking his tea he ordered. Zuko came with the order a couple minutes ago, he examined the hooded man weirdly, like he knew him.
Time passed by in a second, in that time everyone who was once present left the tea shop, leaving good reviews on the tea and bread. After everyone left to do their vices, Zuko walked up to the cloaked man's visage.
"Excuse me sir, but we're closing, I'll have to escort you to the exit." Zuko said politely but with an edge to his voice, showing that if this stranger were to decline he'll remove him forcefully.
"No…" The man in a poncho said sternly, Zuko placed his fist on the table, next to the man's hand.
"You will leave… now!" Zuko ordered, the hooded man grabbed his hand, taking Zuko's attention off him and onto his hand, he then proceeded to backhand the scared boy. He stumbled back with a grunt, he got into a stance.
"You're going to regret that!" Zuko sneered, he jumped and performed an axe kick, smashing the table in half.
The hooded man evaded the table by leaning back, the table not bothering him. He stood from his seat, grabbing it and using it as a weapon.
"Slow." He said, moving out of the way of an axe kick, a small crack in the earth surfaced from Zuko's kick. "Sloppy." He leaned back when Zuko went to kick his head.
Zuko followed up his kick with a double palm strike, but he hit nothing, only air. The back of his collar was grabbed and he was thrown into the wall closest to him.
"Sad!" He yelled and tossed the chair at Zuko, who brought his hands up. The chair broke on impact, with Zuko's arms. He shook them, to get the cobwebs out.
He stood and rushed the man clad in a black poncho with a hood, Iroh then appeared in a burst of flames, he ducked low as he pushed his fist into the man's stomach, who blocked the strike with his knee, and thrusted his palm into Zuko's chin but Zuko moved his head.
"I think that's enough boys." Iroh said kindly, and they stepped back from each other. Zuko pointed to the male in a hood with an angry scowl.
"Uncle, this customer attacked me when he refused to exit the shop!" Zuko blanched, the man removed his hood, revealing long blonde hair styled into a ponytail.
"This customer happens to be your cousin." Naruto said with a grin. Zuko's jaw dropped, Iroh smiled brightly, hugging the boy.
"Naruto?" Zuko asked with uncertainty in his tone of voice.
"Yup, what's up Zuzu?" He grinned…
Chapter: 12
Look, I know that you're not happy about Ty-Lee not being the one paired with Naruto. But I just know that the person I chose will make a huge improvement then what I was planning for with Ty-Lee or June. I just feel that this character is the right one.
Toph's attributes:
Hand-to-hand combat: Not bad - (She has tough skin, dense muscles and strong strikes, every punch she throws at her friend's they groan and moan in pain and complain.)
Hunting: She's blind - (If that doesn't explain everything, I don't know what will.)
Weaponry: Her feet - (She has a seismic sense that she uses everyday to navigate her surroundings.)
Bending ability: Earth - (She learned how to earthbend and see at five years old, she created her own bending in the same year as she taught the Avatar earthbending.)
IQ: 79
Battle IQ: 140 - (She comes up with sound plans but she doesn't have back ups)
Weaknesses: Her sight.
Strengths: Her incredible skill with earthbending.
