Chapter 4
Back at the hospital in the domain…
He was still out cold.
It's been three days since the incident, and Toshi has yet to wake up.
The brothers have all taken turns being at his bedside, his children had recovered from the ordeal, and yet, they cannot remember what had happened. "Every time we try to recall… it hurts…" explained Aiko.
"I don't hold it against you, there is no rush. All that matters is that everyone is safe" Choso said gently.
Still… what happened? He wants to know to better understand how to protect his brothers, children and family. The brothers went back to investigate the scene with Nanami. They have yet to claim their dead, so they decided to help themselves to the remains. Choso instructed the brothers to take the clothing of the dragon slayers, much to their surprise. "Really? You want their clothing?" Junpei asked, but then shrugged his shoulders and began to strip the bodies.
Nanami was looking over the oddly destroy machine that lingered in the middle of it all. Forged of black metal that he has never seen, it became an item of interest. "This thing looked solid, like you can't break that solid… yet when we were here, it was like it erupted… split open like a banana!" Noranso explained to Nanami. "If it absorbs curse energy… that attack should have done nothing."
"I agree" Nanami said. "Let's bring this back with us as well. Muta can look this over and break it down for us to better understand its use."
Choso too looked over the scene and found it strange. Sho explained that the bodies all bared the same cause of death. A single puncture wound. "The thing is, and as strange as it is for me to say… none of the bodies bled."
Nanami peered about and nodded. "There is a distinct lack of blood. I am also aware that when piercing blood is use, there is a splatter affect when it strikes its target…"
As wise as ever, Nanami went over the bodies and nodded to the brothers' findings. All of them were like this, and yet what pierced them is what has their heads scratching. "The substance is the same consistency as blood, and yet, it stopped the target from bleeding out… which means what was used to take their lives… was forced into the body and killed them from within."
He took the shirt off of one of the slayers and got a closer look of the wound.
Choso did as well but paused oddly. The substance that sealed the wound was red like blood and yet… "That… looks familiar…" he said offhandedly.
Nanami peered over to Choso as he summoned a similar substance. "Choso? Is this your blood?" he asked.
"No, ever since we had been turned into dragons, we can no longer use our blood as a form of a weapon. Dragon's blood can have affects to the environment if unleash, as well. It's very valuable. But our bodies adapted to this. In fact, Junpei was the first to learn that we have made an organ that produces a blood like substance, but it is not blood. What has sealed the wounds on the bodies is very similar to what we produce." Choso explained.
"But, it makes little sense to me. After all, we were the first brothers to arrive, no one else. Our children were not here and Toshi's children have yet to create their own substance to use in combat."
Nanami nodded to this.
"We are going to take that machine back with us, like you said, Muta will have some use for it. But it appears that this was a charging port or something…" said Kotsuso.
"Do that," Nanami decreed. "Let's get rid of the bodies and we will go from there… has there been any change in Toshi?"
Choso shook his head. "Not yet, I don't even sense his emotions let alone him at this moment."
"In other words we are uncertain if he is going to recover or not… so be it, let's finish up here and return home."
They gathered up what they could. Choso kept the clothing from the bodies as well, there was something about this leather that caught his eye. Yet, as soon as they returned, the brothers found their wives and children being informed of the events that occurred.
They were devastated at first, but then, there were looks of anger in the eyes of the women and children.
"Where are they now?!" demanded the children. "We will PERSONALLY destroy this threat!" decreed Sho's eldest son Uchuu.
"No is not the time!" Suiryu shouted to them.
They were taken aback by it. "What!" they demanded of him.
"Right now, our main focus is Yua and Toshi, they are in the worst condition I have ever seen them in. Toshi has yet to wake up, Yua is in a comatose state! If we poke the hornet's nest now, it may not end up well for them. You know those two are sensitive to those around them!"
They were silent, yet the wives were upset that there was no retaliation for the time being. "What can we do?" asked Calypso.
"You can help me with Yua and Toshi, I want everyone else to go around to ensure that the domain is safe and those who live here are fully recovered. At the same time, Sukuna has his curse energy back."
They froze to this.
"What… mother let him have it back?!"
"I don't know the story on that, but all I know is that he's back, has his power again and yet, he's still level headed." Suiryu explained. "Mom has also come by already, we are not to speak of this in front of Chusi Tooru… she is expecting and if this hits her… she may follow Yua's path and lose her baby."
There were confused looks by the wives, Choso approached as Rhea turned to him. "Choso…" she began to say.
"What Suiryu has said is true. Chusi is expecting and yes, it's Ryomen Sukuna's child. At the same time, he has been proactive in assisting us with Yua and Toshi. We must extend the same courtesy."
They all nodded to this. "Okay, what do we do?" asked Morthan.
"I suggest tending to Yua's children, all three have been traumatized since they were attacked at school and lost some of their classmates. If we want to take turns…"
"Let me cut you off there, big bro. The kids are looked after,"
Choso paused, but then, he felt a strange sensation come over him. Peering to Yua's house, he sensed a familiar, powerful energy. "Who is looking after them? I sense a dragon…"
Suiryu nodded. "I found out why Suguru was nowhere to be found that day…"
