A/N: In which Beca and Emily meet in real life (long distance);
It had been a long day. Beca was no stranger to traveling, but she'd never gone on what had felt like such an important journey before. She was finally going to meet her long distance girlfriend after only seeing her through video calls and pictures after a year, and she couldn't believe it. They had planned for this trip for months, what they were going to do and where they were going to stay (when they weren't just at Emily's house because while Beca wanted to meet Emily's mom and sister, they wanted their privacy together, as well), down to the smallest details. And now it was finally happening.
Beca clutched the little stuffed bear that Emily had sent her from one of the many packages she had sent throughout the last year, a tiny source of comfort as she got closer to finally being able to see and hug her girlfriend.
Tears had actually sprung to Beca's eyes as the plane finally broke through the clouds and she got her first view of the ocean; she was almost there. This was her girlfriend's state. She was so close to meeting Emily.
As soon as the plane had touched down, Beca had unbuckled her seatbelt and was out of her seat; she was sitting right about the middle of the plane, so there were people in front and behind her, and the line felt like it took forever. She'd brought her carry on bag so it was even more torturous to wait since she already had her bag and everyone else had to get theirs (she still needed her bigger suitcase, as she'd had to check it, but that would be after she'd met Emily, after they'd hugged, after they finally got to touch each other).
The line creeped slowly down the aisle (Beca had to clench her teeth to hold herself back from pushing people out of the way, especially the two young children and their mother in front of her; the children didn't understand the concept of a moving line yet and kept trying to get between the rows of seats and sit down again, encouraged by the adults behind them who laughed every time they did it). Beca felt like she would need a massage by the end of this due to how tense her muscles were from clenching her teeth so hard.
Finally she made it to the front of the plane, nodding and thanking the flight attendants and pilot quickly as she deboarded. Her heart began hammering in her chest as she walked down the walkway, one thought looping through her head: Gotta find Emily, gotta find Emily...
Something was poking her lower back from inside of her carry on bag, and her poor stuffed bear's middle was being squeezed, but she only had one goal in mind and neither of those things mattered in the moment.
Time seemed to slow down as two things happened at once: she saw the sign announcing baggage claim, and she saw her girlfriend standing just below the sign, bouncing in her spot and looking all around for Beca. Their eyes caught each other at the same moment, and in a daze, Beca floated into Emily's arms and Emily wrapped Beca in the biggest bear hug she'd ever felt.
"You're here, you're here, you're here..." Emily blubbered, her voice finally breaking on the last one, her sob ringing in Beca's ear. "You're here."
"I'm here," Beca repeated, the words sounding foreign in her own ears. "I'm here, Em. It's okay, I got you, I'm here."
Beca heard multiple clicks as someone took multiple pictures, and she didn't even need to look to know it was Emily's mom. She knew she was as excited as they were for this. Who couldn't be excited? They had waited over a year for this.
Beca wanted to be hugged again as soon as the first hug had ended, but she needed to collect herself for the moment, too. Her head was spinning and she felt faint. Sometime in there she'd shed her carry on bag, and she realized Emily's mom was holding it for her. She also realized she'd still been clutching her bear, though.
"Welcome, Beca," she greeted warmly, handing Beca her bag. "We've been waiting for you."
"T-thanks," she managed, her head still floating. "I'm...I don't know what to say now."
Emily laughed, and nodded. "Me, either."
"Let's go grab your bag and head out. I'm sure you're exhausted," Emily's mom said, and Beca nodded. She was, but she was also pumped. Adrenalin.
They didn't have to wait too long for Beca's suitcase (the only real annoying part was seeing the mother and her two kids again; this time the kids were trying to climb onto the luggage conveyor belt), collecting it before they were headed out of the airport and into the sunny weather.
"I saw the ocean and almost cried," Beca said hazily, once they were settled in the car and on the road. Little pieces of her day were slowly coming back to her, this thing sticking out especially vibrant in her mind. "The kids in front of me didn't know how to use a line when we were deboarding and I wanted to push them out of the way. My iced coffee was $3.25. They offered me peanuts or pretzels on the plane and I think I picked pretzels."
Emily laughed and placed her hand over Beca's. Beca felt her heart skip a beat; Emily's hand was warm but slightly shaky like her own. She could feel the band of the promise ring on Emily's ring finger. "Easy Becs, take a deep breath."
Beca took a deep breath, felt tears threatening to fall again, and shook them away. "Sorry. I'm okay, promise." She wanted to kiss Emily again, like they'd done at baggage claim. Her head was still spinning and she didn't know if she'd be able to keep herself steady enough to kiss her, so she waited.
"We're almost there, and when we get home we can just relax, if you want," Emily said. "But we could also still go for dinner and sightseeing later if you want. It just depends on how you feel."
"Dinner sounds good," Beca said. She couldn't remember if she'd eaten anything other than her bag of pretzels on the plane earlier (and washed them down with her iced coffee). She was still running on so much adrenaline that her body felt numb in a good way. "I'm just excited to see the house for now. It's gonna be cool to see it in real life and not just on my laptop, especially your room."
"I'm excited to show you everything," Emily said excitedly.
As expected, they hit a bit of that LA traffic, but thankfully it wasn't as bad as usual. Beca felt another wave of shock and excitement wash over her as the car pulled into the driveway, and she got her first look (not from pictures) of Emily's house.
"It's beautiful," Beca said, as they got out of the car.
"Thank you," Emily's mom said. "Welcome to our home, Beca."
"Come on, I'll show you my room first," Emily said, grabbing Beca's hand. Beca let Emily lead her through the house and to her room. There was so much to look at, but Beca knew she'd get the full tour after seeing her girlfriend's room.
Once Emily had gotten Beca into her bedroom, she closed the door behind her. Beca was shocked to actually be standing here in Emily's room; seeing all her things was much different in real life than through her laptop. She turned to Emily and opened her mouth to comment, but before she could say anything, Emily's lips were on hers again. She melted into the kiss, forgetting everything else as Emily kissed her deep. By the time this kiss was broken, both girls were gasping for air.
"Lay back on my bed, I need more of you before we do anything else," Emily said, her bubbly voice taking on the husky tone Beca loved and only got to hear when Emily was especially turned on (previously only when they'd had phone sex; in real life, it was even better).
Beca obliged, lying back on Emily's bed. As Emily's head dipped between Beca's thighs only moments later, Beca's mind felt the haziest it had been all day.
A/N: My long distance girlfriend and I are going to be seeing each other again soon (in a little over three months) and I just wanted to write a little something because long distance holds a very special place in my heart (and because I wrote a Jori one so I needed to write a Bemily one, too). Thanks for reading! c:
