Emberheart took a deep breath and entered the cave. It was lined with tables and the smell of flowers was in the air. The young hybrid sighed softly to herself and slowly walked over to one of the tables where a NightWing was sitting.

"Hi there. Uh… is this where I come to collect a "Winglet Placement" scroll?" Emberheart shifted anxiously from claw to claw and patiantly waitrd for the older dragon to answer her question.

After a few more moments or so, the NightWing in question nodded her head, smiling kindly down at the red and white scaled dragonet who smiled she in return. The older dragon shuffled a few things around and reached over the side of the table before plucking a scroll tied with a black leather band out of the basket and quickly handed it to Emberheart.

Emberheart nodded her head in thanks and shot the NightWing a bright, friendly smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you, my name's Emberheart." She said softly, pointing a talon toward her chest and dipping her head in a quick bow. "May I ask what your name is?"

"It's nice to meet you too, Emberheart. My name's Fatespeaker and I'm one of the teachers here at the school." She paused for a moment and hummed softly to herself before she began speaking again. "I mainly hang out in the library but I'm sure you'll see me around.." fatespeaker chuckled and gestured vaguely toward the line of dragonets gathered in a line behind Emberheart. "For now though, you'd better get going and grab your schedule and map of the school from that young IceWing over there."

Emberheart smiled and nodded before turning away from the table and heading over to the other large table that Fatespeaker had informed her about to receive a few more important things before she left to explore the inner walls of the academy a bit more closely.

I hope that you will enjoy your four years here at the academy." She heard Fatespeaker call after her as she retreated from the table of placement scrolls. She nodded her head in farewell before turning and walking over to a secluded corner of the cave to look over the contents of the scrolls she had been given.

"WELCOME TO

THE JADE MOUNTAIN

ACADEMY!"

Emberheart smiled warmly at the welcoming sentence, hearing those words brought a small smile to her face and the anxiaty pooling in the pit of her stomach ebbed away a bit as she quickly skimmed through the introductory paragraphs before her eyes finally landed on the desired contense of the scroll.

The Winglet Placements…

Before she dove headfirst into the contents of the scroll, the 7-year-old IceWing-SkyWing hybrid took a deep breath to calm her racing heart before she glanced down at the small sheet of parchment and began to read the list of dragonets and the winglets that tey would each be placed into.

Here we go, time to find out who my Clawmates will be for the next four years.

JADE WINGLET

IceWing: Sapphire

MudWing: Leach

NightWing: Nightwatcher

RainWing: Citrus

SandWing: Jackal

SeaWing: Melody

SkyWing: Harmony

Hmmm, well, I'm not in this winglet… but maybe I'll be in the next one. The young hybrid hummed quietly to herself and continued on reading down the list of the dragonets assigned to the "Gold Winglet".

GOLD WINGLET

IceWing: Wolf

MudWing: Swamp

NightWing: Soulstice

RainWing: Firefly

SandWing: Heatstroke

SeaWing: Delta

SkyWing: Crimson

Hmm… well, that's sertinly a nice little group of dragonets. I like their names too! They all sound really cool. Emberheart silantly mused to herself with a small, foxy little grin formed at the corners of her mouth as she glanced back down at the scroll and resumed reading the next batch of dragonets who were listed under the "Silver Winglet."

SILVER WINGLET

IceWing: Crystal

MudWing: Landslide

NightWing: Midnight

RainWing: Hummingbird

SandWing: Iguana

SeaWing: River

SkyWing: Eagle

Interesting group of dragonets in that winglet as well I see. I just hope they didn't forget about me… if they did I wouldn't know what to do about it. Shaking her head of those dark thoughts, Emberheart staighted her spine and set a determined gaze on the scroll curently clutched inbetween her two front claws like a prised piece of art or prey.

Copper's not one of my favorite colors, but... hey, I'm not gonna judge anyone for like the color just because I have no fondness for it. But enough of that… time to get back on track and find out if I'm in this winglet or not. Oh boy… I really hope they didn't forget about me!

COPPER WINGLET

IceWing: Blizzard

MudWing: Alligator

NightWing: Eclipse

RainWing: Jazmine

SandWing: Lioness

SeaWing: Waterfall

SkyWing: Phoenix

'There's only one more winglet left… what if I'm not in it? What will I do then? No way! I cam't think like that… I've gotta stay postive and hope for the best! Once her little peptalk to herself was over and done with, Emberheart took a shaky breath and causiously stared down at the last and final list of dragonets written out near the bottom of the paper. "Welp, here goes nothing…" she quietly muttered to herself as she syched herself up to look down and read the list of the members in the Quartz Winglet.

QUARTZ WINGLET

IceWing: Emberheart (Oh Three Moons! Thank you!)

MudWing: Hazelnut

NightWing: Spiritcaller

RainWing: Willow

SandWing: Hyena

SeaWing: Tempest

SkyWing: Zepher

Relief washed over Emberheart, thank goodness! She was not in someone else's place. She was glad that she hadn't been forgotten. And, if she might add, quartz was a pretty stone.

"What?! Why are SkyWings at the bottom of the list?!" A rather annoyed female voice yelled in outrage from somewhere a little to Emberheart's left shoulder.

"I'm the daughter of Queen Sunset! And as such, shouldn't my name be listed under either the Gold or Silver Winglets?" The SkyWing dragonet yelled feriously, her forest green eyes blazing like a raging inferno as she set a harsh glare on Webs, who looked to be a little putoff by the SkyWing princess's attitude.

I turned to see a SkyWing with Auburn-colored scales and when she spread her wings their red membranes almost looked like fire for a moment.

I rolled my eyes in slight amusement at the SkyWing dragonet who stormed over to Fatespeaker, the older NightWing didn't seam fazed in the slightest. I waited patiently until the SkyWing was done venting her frustration.

I walked over to the SkyWing who looked up when I approached her. She then looked down at her scroll, most likely looking for my name.

"Emberheart, right?" Zephyr asked, a hint of familiarity in her voice as she said my name.

"We're in the same winglet." I said with a nod to the Princess.

"Well then, it's a pleasure to meet you." The Princess replied, with a small smile. Then she frowned once more, most likely thinking of the previous Conversation.

"C'mon, let's head to our cave. We can talk on the way there." I said, motioning with my tail for the SkyWing Princess to follow me.

The Quartz Winglet's common cave was circular in shape. In the center of the cave was a fire pit, with seven cushions circled a safe distance. Along the walls were storage containers and book shelves, all for the winglet's personal use. The cave was also connected to three smaller caves, where the winglet, I correctly assumed, would sleep.

When we entered I put my bag down on a sleeping platform near the other end of the cave. As I was organizing my scrolls I felt something collide with me. I yelped and scurried backwards in surprise.

"Hey watch where you're going! Can't you tell that I was trying to take a nap there?" The RainWing snapped angrily. I lowered my head in shame. As the RainWing hissed and her eyes glared at me.

"I'm sorry... I didn't mea-" but I was cut off by the still fuming RainWing.

"I don't care, you should still watch where your going!" She hissed in a low tone.

"She said she was sorry. So back off and let it go!" Zephyr shouted, glaring at the RainWing. I sighed and shook out my wings.

"The name's Emberheart! I love making art and I plan on showing everyone more of my paintings. I just hope they have a cave where I can put them on display." I mumbled the last part to myself with a slight frown.

"The Academy has some places where you can put your paintings." Came a new voice from the entrance of the sleeping cave.

The three of us looked to see a SeaWing about our age walk in. With her scales a light blue, aqua green wing membranes and eyes. I couldn't deny she looked pretty. Her calm gaze and demeanor also relieved me, and maybe not all of my clawmates would bicker?

"You must be... Hurricane, right?" Zephyr asked, the first to recover from the appearance of the new arrival.

"Tempest," she corrected, though with a sincere smile and a nod of her head in greeting.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Tempest. My name's Emberheart." I replied, giving the SeaWing dragonet a warm smile.

"That's a strange name for an IceWing, Emberheart seams more fitting for a SkyWing, don't you think?" Came a new voice from the entrance of the sleeping cave.

The four of us looked to see a NightWing about our age walk in. With her scales a jet black, light purple wing membranes and eyes. Like Tempest's gaze, the NightWing had a calm gaze but there was also a playful glint in her eyes.

"You must be... Midnight, right?" Tempest asked, the first to recover from the appearance of the new arrival. The NightWing laughed quietly and shook her head.

"Nope, good guess though. The name's Spiritcaller." The NightWing said with a cheeky grin on her face. Zephyr laughed quietly and spoke up.

"That's a cool name. The name's Zephyr." The SkyWing said, with a kind smile.

"I'm Willow. Nice to meet you, Spirit. Can I call you that?" Willow asked, to witch the NightWing dragonet nodded.

"Now all we need are the SandWing and MudWing Clawmates." Zephyr remarked, with a small laugh. I nodded and looked to Tempest with an amused smile.

"Let's go out into the Common Cave." Tempest said pointing her tail out to the common cave, we all nodded and followed Tempest outside.
