My writing 4 years ago was atrocious, have me rewriting it.

The Traveler, from the beginning was thought of as myth and legend. A god to some, revered by such cultures. If one asked how they knew that the being was true. They would point to carvings from their ancestors. To the second sun that the carvings depicted where they only had one star.

'The Traveler protects more than one,' An old chieftain spoke once. 'For the Traveler's kin protect all. To be chosen… a great honor… but great sacrifice they shall face.'

When the Voltron lions first formed Voltron, there was a wave of Quintessence that went through all who could sense it. The Traveler, the strongest of these wielders sensed something. Some evil that had been put into motion. That had been once long sealed away, the shadows had been set free, The Darkness released from the Quintessential realm. In response The Traveler created 5 Ghosts. These Ghosts would find heroes. Heroes in heart that had died, whether young or old. Known or forgotten. It mattered not, all that did matter was what was in their heart. Was it the light…. Or the darkness.

I sighed as we came to the end of the latest cave.

"Welp, that makes 16 dead ends, adding it to the map," Ghost hummed softly. I turn looking to the Lion carving, standing next to what looked like a woman. All the while Ghost continued to scan the carvings for his own internal library.

"Ghost, anything new on the lion and woman?" I asked him as I pulled out my half empty water canteen. Taking a few sips before wetting my neckerchief to help combat the heat of the day.

"Just the same legends, The Light Wielder, water spirit, and a stars child." Ghost listed out the answers to me. I sighed as I grabbed Ghost from where he still scanned the walls. The Ghost a small floating hexagonal orb that followed me everywhere. Gently, I put him into one of my side pouches. The pouch meant to keep him safe with outer armor along the leather, and soft fabric on the inside . Turning to walk back the way I had come. Just as I made it to the last intersection to head out of the cave I felt the energy pulse again. Calling almost like a sigren. My shoulders slump forward knowing from experience that the pulses would only continue and grow in strength until I started to follow the trail.. Looking back at the fork in the tunnels, I could hear the hum of energy in the air.

"Again, Keith, are you really going to go right back in so soon?" Ghost asked, peeking out of the bag, the flap just over his shell.

"Yep," I popped the popped the p in the answer as I started towards the next unexplored tunnel in the fork.

"But why," Ghost questioned me It had already been a few hours since we had started searching today.

"Because besides this, what else is calling out to me."

"Oh, I don't know, me, to do your job, as A GUARDIAN!" Ghost yelled as came up to float next to my head. I pushed him to the side.

"We both know the legends shown in the caves, Ghost. The Star Child is coming and it could be really important." I growled lowly.

"And what happens then Keith, there is no guarantee that it will be Shirogane. It could be the Holts. And even then it might not be them." Ghost moved back in front of me. From his eye he showed a holographic image. It was a rather graphic depiction, of a figure on a table and a light held above them. I ducked my head under the hologram. It was something I didn't want to acknowledge at the moment.

"Would you really wish torture on anyone, Keith?" Ghost asked the image fading away.

"No," I snipped quickly at him rather loudly. "No," I responded much softer this time. "I wouldn't."

"Then let it lay. Give what I offer a chance. We have waited 12 years, Keith, you have been training as a fighter, as a pilot for this. You have the experience as well," Ghost urged softly.

"If the event doesn't take place this next full moon, then we will go on the full moon." I sighed. Ghost twisted his shell before looking back down the path. Lighting our way in the darkness. It wasn't all that big of a surprise to find nothing accept more cave drawings. Ghost guided me out and back into the sun.

"Back into the light, just where a Guardian belongs." Ghost hummed as he went back to my bag after nudging my cheek.

I sat on one of the cliff walls, Ghost off to the side, searching through his memories or just making plans. After all, tonight was the last night that held to the deal. I pulled my knees up to my chest. The hoover bike was at the bottom of the cliff edge. Waiting for the time that it would be needed.

"Keith, something is entering the atmosphere, there is a life sign. You were right, the Star Child is here." Ghost was by me talking away. I ignored him as I scrambled to my feet. Time to shine.

"Well, you still have to be a guardian, might as well look the part." Ghost hummed, he seemingly scanned me and armor fell into place. The Chest plate had two wolves facing each other with an elaborate circle around them. Light and flexible, helmet formed in my waiting hands. Feeling a small weight on my back and my shoes shift.

"The chest piece is called The Iron Fellowship, the helmet Reverie Dawn Casque, your cloak is the Intrepid Discovery Cloak, and finally, your boots are the Vanguard Dare. I've taken the liberty of changing the colors to Black with the secondary of crimson red, and silver etchings. No need to thank me." Ghost hummed happily.

I rolled my eyes, grabbing Ghost and jumping. Using my light abilities to land safely on my hover bike and take off. The ship was only now coming down. Ghost hovered just under my new cloak. He put the helmet on my head. It was time to see if I had gotten my hopes up for nothing.
