Hello, I'm not sure if I'll continue this story. This may, or may not be a one-shot, either way. I hope you'll all enjoy reading this. ^.^
Reno is my favorite character from FF7. ^.^
You ran along the B deck promenade. You are dishevelled, your hair flying. You're crying, your cheeks streaks with tears, but also furious! Shaking with emotions you just don't understand...hatred, self-hatred, desperation. A strolling old couple watch you pass. Shocked at the emotional display in public. - Insanely scandalous!
A red-haired man kicked back on one of the benches gazing at the stars blazing gloriously overhead. Hearing something, he turns as you ran up the stairs from the well deck. You are the only two on the stern deck, except for QUARTERMASTER ROWE, twenty feet above you on the docking bridge catwalk. You don't see him in the shadows as you ran right past him.
You sob as you slams against the base of the stern flagpole and clings there, panting. You stare out at the black water.
Then you starts to climb over the railing. You need to hitch your long dress dress way up. Your climbing is a bit clumsy. Moving methodically you turn your body and gets your heels on the white-painted gunwale, your back to the railing, facing out toward blackness.
60 feet below you, the massive propellers are churning the atlantin into white foam, and a ghostly wake trails off toward the horizon. Below you are the huge letters of the name "TITANIC"
You cried over the situation that had taken place earlier that evening at dinner. Even thought he had promised not to, your fiance had hit you again and you just couldn't take it anymore. You'd rather jump!
You lean out, your arms straightening... looking down hypnotized, into the vortex below you. Your dress and hair are lifted by the wind of the ship's movement.
You hadn't noticed him yet, but a tall handsome red haired man walked over as silently as possible so that he wouldn't scare you into jumping right away.
However, by the time he was in arms reach of you...one of the boards creaked.
You whips your head around and it takes a second for your eyes to focus.
"Stay back! Don't come any closer!"
The red haired man could see tear tracks on your cheeks in the faint glow from the stern running lights.
"Hey, hey! I paid good money for my ticket so if I want to see the view, then I can, yo!" Said the red haired man firmly!
You just look at him tearfully. He extended his hand, but you look at him hesitantly. Which only annoyed him.
"What's the holdup!? Just take my hand, already and I'll pull you back in."
"No! Stay where you are. I mean it...I-i'll let go..." You stuttered those last three words.
"Oh, no you won't!" He exclaimed.
Offended you look at him angrily and spoke firmly.
"What do you mean no I won't? Don't you dare presume to tell me what I will and will not do. You don't know me!" The red haired man just shook his head and laughed nasty.
"If you're gonna bullshit me, at least try to make it believable…if you were serious, you would have done it already. Now come on, take my hand."
You were confused now. You can't see him very well through the tears.
"You're distracting me. Go away!"
"Nah, no can do, princess." He answered back, coldly. "If you let go I have to jump in after you."
You just stared at him, completely dumbfounded by his response.
"Don't be absurd! You'll be killed."
"I'm a good swimmer, yo"
"The fall alone would kill you."
"It would hurt. I'm not saying it wouldn't, but to be honest: I'm a lot more concerned about the water being so cold."
You look down. The reality factor of what you are doing is sinking in.
"How cold?" You ask curiously, hiding your fear.
"You know, the ocean waters get to the negitives at night,-" The man began. "It so cold, that if you would fall in and survive...all you could ever want is to die. You don't die quick either. It's a slow...sharp...horrendous pain. Once you can't feel your body anymore, you become thankful that the end is near."
The vision of the man's explanation horrified you.
"Silent!" You said firmly, fresh new tears rushed to your eyes.
"Did that scare you? Take my hand and I'll pull you back over the rail, together we can both get off the hook here."
"You're crazy!" You told him, annoyingly.
"I've heard worse,-" He smirked. "-but with all due respect, Miss, I'm not the one hanging off the back of a ship." He slide one step closer to you.
You tried to suppress the tears, but they kept coming.
"You don't know me and I don't know you, so why are you going through this trouble to save me?"
"Allow me to fix that. I am Reno, I'm a Turk and your business is our business."
"What's a Turk?" You asked confused.
"Turks get called in to handle all kinds of situations. With extrem prejudice, occasionally" Reno explained.
"A-are you...bad guys?" You weren't wrong, but your question still offended him.
"If I were one, do you think I'd be wasting my time here?!"
You stare at this madman for a long time. You look him in the eyes and they somehow suddenly seem to fill your universe.
"Come on. You don't want to do this. Just give me your hand." You nodded.
You unfastens one hand from the rail and reaches it around toward him. He reaches out to take it, firmly.
You both looked into each other's eyes and Reno spoke.
"Whoever caused this much sorrow in these beautiful eyes of yours? I'll make that bastard pay!"
You started to climb, your dress gets in the way and one foot slips off the edge of the deck.
You plunges, letting out a percing SHRIEK. Reno gripping your hand. You barely grabs a lower rail with your free hand.
QUARTERMASTER ROWE, up on the docking bridge hears the scream and heads for the ladder.
"It's nothing personal, but you Miss are one hell of a crazy...bitch!"
"Help! Help!" You screamed out of fear as you looked up at Reno.
"I've got you and I won't let go."
Reno holds your hand with all his strength, bracing himself on the railing with his other hand.
You try to get some kind of foothold on the smooth hull. Reno struggles to lift your bodily over the railing, but you can't get any footing in your dress and evening shoes, and you slips back. You SCREAM again.
Reno, awkwardly clutching to you by whatever he can get a grip on as you flails and gets you over the railing. You fall together onto the deck in a tangled heap, spinning in such away that Reno winds up slightly on top of you.
"Well...that went well..." Said Reno while you both caught your breath.
Rowe slides down the ladder from the docking bridge like it's a fire drill and sprints across the fantail.
"What's all this?!" Asked Rowe confused.
Rowe runs up and pulls Reno off of you, revealing you dishevelled and sobbing on the deck. Your dress is torn and the hem is pushing up above your knees, showing one ripped stocking.
Rowe looks at Reno who was still fully clothed, apart from his white shirt which was unbuttoned. Exposing his muscular chest.
"You damn Turks!" Rowe began. "You're only causing trouble! Now you're rapists too?!" The red haired man only chuckle at Rowe.
Rowe told a seaman to fetch the Master at Arms.
A few minutes later and Reno is being interrogated by the burly Master at Arms. Since everyone knew who Reno was, they didn't dare to handcuff him!
Your fiance (name) is right in front of Reno, and furious!
"You damn Turk!" Your fiance began out of anger. "What made you think you could put your hands on my fiancee?!" Reno turned his head towards you with a grin.
"Look at me, you filth! What did you think you were doing?!"
You call your fiance's name.
"Stop! It was an accident."
"An accident?!" Your fiance repeated confused.
"It was...stupid really. I was leaning over and I slipped." You look at Reno, getting eye contact. Even he was curious to hear your explanation.
"I was leaning way over, to see the...ah...propellers and I slipped, and I would have gone overboard, but Mr Reno here saved me and he almost went over himself."
"You wanted to see the propellers?"
Reno looked at you in disbelief and mimicked the words "Wow"
"Was that the way of it?" The Master at arms asked Reno.
You looked at him, begging with your eyes not to say what really happened.
"Yeah, yeah." Answered Reno shortly while looking at you. Now you have a secret together.
"Well! The man's a hero then. Good for you son, well done!" Said another man.
Both you and your fiance was about to leave the scene, but the man who had just praised Reno stopped you.
"Ah...prehaps a little something for the man?"
"Oh, right. I think a twenty should do it." You looked at your fiance in shock as he handed Reno the money.
"Is that the going rate for saving the woman you love?" You hissed in confusion.
"My darling is displeased. Mmm...what to do?" Your fiance turns his back to Reno.
"I know." Your fiance continued. "Prehaps you could join us for dinner tomorrow, to regale our group with your heroic tale?" Reno's expressionless face just stared at your fiancé then straight at you.
"Of course."
"Good. Settled then." Both you and your fiance turns to go, putting a protective arm around you as you both walked away.
