The silver-haired boy still felt lost despite making himself familiar with his surroundings. There were several questions floating through his head such as, how did I even get here in the first place or why do a majority of the people i've seen walk by have nen abilities despite having their aura nodes closed but before he could even fathom the answers to these questions he needed to gather information. A lot of information at that. So, he decided to visit a library.

Killua walked up to a random bookshelf and inspected the books all around it. None of the books here are written in my language either. Maybe I'm in some sort of closed off country then, one where hunters aren't known. He shook his head in frustration. No, maybe I'm overthinking this and I just checked a shelf that didn't have it. He went over to several other shelves and with each one he checked, he came to the same solution he had earlier. Maybe this is some sort of closed nation then. I can't understand any of the characters written so I'll probably have to watch documentaries or videos about it. Either that or I'll have to learn another language. Learning another won't be fun though. He rested his hand upon his chin and made his decision. It'll be easier for me if I just searched online so I suppose I'll start with that.

Killua took his hand off his chin and looked around. There appeared to be an area with computers to his right so he went in that direction and sat down in a chair in front of one of the computers. The computer, luckily, allowed access without needing any ID for use. He just needed to create an account and it would allow him to use it. He sighed out in relief and sat back in his chair "that's good, I wouldn't know what to do if it required that I have a license of some kind." If this is some kind of isolated country that doesn't have any reference to his language at all then it's probably safe to assume that my hunter license doesn't work here. Earlier when he was observing the people passing by, he also saw the technological advancements and deduced that they were the same as his normal nation. He sat up and started looking up towards the open computer. He opened the browser listed on the computer and then a realization hit him. He looked off to the side and whispered "I can't read any of this". Oh right! Everything in this nation appears to be the same technologically as the outside world so it probably has a voice feature of some kind. His eyes trailed around different sides of the screen looking for some symbol of a microphone. He went on for several minutes prodding around the browser until he finally found it. That took longer than it should've. He clicked on the mic and activated it. Luckily, it seemed as if the computer had a mic built in. He didn't have money so not having to buy one for this came in handy. He decided to speak more quietly so as to not make people suspicious of whatever he is doing. "Where am I currently?" he leaned into his computer more so people couldn't hear him. The computer responded with "Musutafu City, Japan''. He couldn't understand that either though. Hopefully there is a microphone feature for this too. Luck was on his side today as that appeared to be the case. The computer spoke again 'Musutafu City, Japan. Japan? That doesn't sound familiar either. When I was doing assassin training, I had to memorize the world map, countries, and their capitals, and for some reason, this isn't listed. Maybe it's a newly formed country? No, my family or at least would've mentioned it to me. So what the hell is going on? Killua snapped out of his thought process and began to search up other topics. I suppose I should try to understand this nation's language. It'll help me get around better. He went up to and whispered 'japan's official language' to the computer and a couple of links became available to him. He scrolled through the list. All of them seem to be in this nation's language. I guess it doesn't matter which one I pick then. He scrolled up and clicked the third link available to him. The link read 'japan's language for foreigners! Basic kanji and hiragana!' though he couldn't understand it. He navigated around the website confused until he saw a button that appeared to have a Japanese character going into another symbol. He recognized the letter as being a part of the latin alphabet. Killua soon recognized the two symbols to be translation symbols and decided to click on them. He scrolled through the list trying to find his world's language and found himself stumped. If they are including every other language here, why not his own? Does this nation not recognize it as an official language? He shook his head in confusion. "Nothing has made sense since I got here." Whatever, I know most of the other languages here anyway. It won't be an issue. He scrolled up the list and picked 'english' as his language choice. I'm not the best at English but I can understand it better than these other languages. He read through the page and its contents. It seemed to be trying to teach outsiders the basics of Japanese and even had a chart that represented what all the characters meant. However, he noticed something strange about it. It seems to be a substitution for his language. certain characters mean the same thing, only the characters representing them changed. That's weird. I suppose I should write this down though. He looked around at his surroundings, seemingly looking for a piece of paper and a pencil. "I suppose sitting here won't help me find them."

Killua got up and looked around for around 20 minutes before finally stumbling upon what he had been looking for. He saw a desk that was lined up on a wall and a door behind it that led somewhere. At the desk stood a smiling middle-aged woman, her tag read 'Nakamura' though he still couldn't read it. She had been looking down at a book she was reading, smiling the whole way. She kinda reminded Killua of Gon. Her bright eyes that had been softened due to age still stood out to killua and her bright smile still lingered. She had jet black hair that traveled down her back and bright pink eyes that felt older but still had a tinge of youth. She was on the plumper side but he could by no means call her fat. "She looks friendly." Killua commented in a low voice. He walked towards her with a blank expression and once there, stood a few feet before her desk. "Um miss?" she jumped up in a surprised fashion and almost fell out of her chair. "I'M SORRY SIR" killua looked sort of surprised and felt sorry for making her almost fall. "No, i'm the one who should be sorry, I did sneak up on you" it wasn't on purpose though. He shot a nervous glare to the side as he said that. The woman waved her hands in front of her in a motion, almost as if to say 'no'. "I should've noticed you were there. It is my job as one of the librarians to tend to whatever the customer needs, and my slouching there was not very librarian-like." she wasn't sure what she expected, but whatever it was, it wasn't a little boy. The boy spoke up to her in an almost expecting tone "it's fine I just wanted to ask if you had something". She tilted her head in a questioning expression "Were you looking for a certain book?". The boy shook his head "no, no, I just wanted to ask if you had certain office materials." the woman looked at him more clearly now as he put his hands behind his head "such as?". This time, the boy looked directly into her eyes "Do you have any paper or pencils". "Why, of course we do. Those things are very basic after all but, what do you need them for?". Shit. I didn't think of what to say if they asked something like that. I got to think of something. Come on killua, think. "Sir?" he had thought of something just in time. "I'm doing a project for school and I forgot to bring any paper or pencils along with me." the woman nodded her head in understanding and gave him an almost pitying look "I see. I can get them for you." She went into the room closed off behind her and grabbed the materials he listed. Once she came back, she offered him a freshly sharpened pencil and a couple of sheets of paper. "Is this good enough for whatever project you're doing?" Killua nodded with a smile and began walking towards the paper and pencils offered to him. He took them and offered his thanks but before he could walk away he stopped himself "Aren't you gonna charge me for these?". The woman gave him a small smile "it's free of charge". "Really? Thank you very much. I'll return them later then" he bowed his head in her direction and just as he was about to leave, she spoke up "Wait a second". He turned his head back towards her and she appeared to reach under her desk. She took whatever it was and placed it around her back as she got out of her desk. She walked towards him and took his hand. She placed whatever it was into his hand and went back to her desk. He appeared confused for a second until he looked down into his hand. It was a small thing packaged in a wrapper. It had Japanese writing on the packaging and appeared to show something on it. He soon recognized it as candy. He looked up from the candy and saw her smiling face looking back at him from the desk. He reiterated her smile and began to turn back as he spoke the words "thank you very much miss!". He waved to her as he went off and went back to his computer. Once he was gone the woman muttered something under her breath "he's so similar to Shigeru".she looked down and wore a sweet smile across her face.

Killua got back from his outing with the librarian to his computer and got ready to write down what each of the symbols of the alphabet represented. But before he could do that he just had to try the candy given to him. He popped the candy into his mouth and thought that was kinda embarrassing. His thoughts were stopped by the sensation in his mouth. "Delicious!" he shouted out and a few passersby looked strangely at the boy as they walked by. "Oops" he looked down in embarrassment and the people stopped looking at him. He took the wrapper out of his hand and decided to start working on writing the language and its meanings down. The boy sighed "this is gonna take awhile."

After an extensive covering of Japanese and its nuances, Killua decided to investigate the world he was living in. Now that he is able to translate what things mean and is able to form sentences with them, he decided to look things related to this world up. First, he decided to confirm that hunters don't exist in this country. He looked up the words 'hunter's association' and 'hunter license', and just as he had thought, nothing about his definition of hunters came up on the links. Figured as much. Why, though? Maybe an imbalance of power is restricting information regarding them? If the government felt threatened by them maybe, but it still wouldn't make sense. Hunter licenses only hold enough power to rival major corporations, not entire governments. Maybe some major event happened that could've triggered this. Whatever, I still have other questions that need to be answered. Killua pondered the other thoughts in his head before finally deciding on his next search. 'Where is Japan located' was the one that took most priority in his mind. If I figure out where it is I'll probably be able to figure out how to get home faster. He decided that the easiest way to do that would be to search up a world map and get a hold of his surroundings. He searched up 'world map' and went over to the image section of the browser. He clicked the second image that popped up as it seemed more clear to him. "What…" his eyes stared in awe of what he was seeing. This doesn't look anything like the map I know. What's going on? Is this nation lying about its world map? That doesn't make sense either. What the hell is going on?! He clenched his teeth in frustration and breathed in and out. I need to calm down. He took several minutes just breathing before he carried on. Okay, if this map is the official map that can mean one of two things. It could go with my other theory of Japan not being in good contact with hunters and along with it, the rest of the world. As such they could've lied to their citizens about their map and maybe even world history or it could mean the other almost impossible option. I'm in another world. Either way this is dangerous information. He leaned back in his chair for a moment."At least there is a way to confirm it." he leaned forward again. I'll have to investigate Japan's relationship with all of these countries and confirm they exist. He began searching up things like Japan's relationship with various countries and investigating other countries themselves. "Damn it." from what I can tell nothing between any of these countries is forged. Even outside of japan. I keep coming across the word quirk too. Quirk isn't usually used in normal language so why is it used so much here? Oh, right, I'm probably in another world. It's probably more commonplace here. Still, I wonder if it has some special meaning in this country? He groaned and released an audible sigh of frustration. Before he could collect his thoughts the same woman from earlier appeared before him. "I'm sorry sir, but it's closing time now." a look of surprise materialized onto his face as he looked around. Everyone was gone and lights slowly began to turn off. As he looked around the woman noticed his face and his expression, he looked tired. "Are you okay, sir? You look awfully tired." He wiped his eyes and looked straight at her "Sorry, I lost track of time while I was working on my project". The woman's bright smile littered her face again as she said "it's alright but it's closing time now so you need to leave." He closed all the tabs on his browser and shut down the computer. The boy looked in the woman's direction once again and noticed her tag. This time he could recognize what it said, 'Nakamura'. After staring briefly for a second he apologized "Sorry for making you waste your time like this." the woman shook her head "Don't worry about it. I'm just doing my job. It doesn't cut into my own time." he picked up his papers and pencil. He went over to the woman and handed the pencil, now quite dull, back to her. He started walking away and waved to her as he walked towards the entrance "Thank you, Miss Nakamura!". He rushed off to the entrance. The woman adorned a sweet smile and waved to him as he left.

Killua walked outside with his eyes slightly droopy and hands in his pockets, seemingly in a thinking state. The world outside the door greeted him with orange and pink surroundings. The buildings have light hit on him at an angle. The sun was going down. The boy nodded his head down. I don't have any of this world's currency so I probably can't stay at a hotel. "Tch" the boys' cerulean eyes glared daggers at the ground. I suppose I'll have to sleep outside then. I suppose tomorrow I'll figure out everything I can about whatever is going on in this world. The boy walked around for several minutes and after inspecting every place he walked by, he finally found a place he was satisfied with, if only barely. He stared down the alleyway and quietly spoke to himself "I suppose this will have to do for now." He walked a couple feet down the alley and sat beside a dumpster. He gripped onto the sheet of paper next to him and shut his eyes. I suppose I need to keep my third eye open.

After several hours of incessant noises ringing throughout the city something different from the rest could be heard. Footsteps resembling that of certainty could be heard from all around. The steps seemed to approach the silvery-haired boy. They trekked through the darkness of the alleyway and stopped just before reaching him. The steps looked down at him and stared. Only waiting but a moment before acting. They were about to do something.

Authors note:

In my original version of this, I said hunterese was the official language of the hunter x hunter universe because I was a stupid kid that just made shit up on the spot. The hunter x hunter language doesn't have an official name so I just referred to it as killua's language throughout this.

Also nakamura is not a character in the mha world i dont think. I'm gonna be honest, I don't recall if I did research into what characters were barely used or not. If she is a character and I flagged her as an npc I'm so sorry.
