Shouta Aizawa was completely dumbfounded. They had been at this for seven minutes now. And despite being up against so many pro heroes, they're opponent, barely an adult, hadn't taken a hit from anyone, whereas Ectoplasm was slumped unconscious on the battlefield. It just defied logic. That one person could defeat a group of heroes. And they didn't even look like they were trying. That infuriated Aizawa.
He charged forward at his opponent, who noticed immediately. His opponent glanced at the neck wrappings speeding towards them and… relaxed. Aizawa couldn't believe what he was seeing. At the last possible second his opponent reacted, leaping to the side, leaving Aizawa's scarf spiraling in the air. Seeing an opening Midnight attacked, her whip slicing through the space before her. Their opponent shifted slightly to the right, then the left, dodging two of her attacks completely. Then they stepped forward, closing the distance between themselves and Midnight and threw a punch. A vicious left jab to her face. Midnight only just managed to get out of the way.
Their opponent didn't let up, releasing a quick succession of jabs- right, left, right, left. Midnight managed to dodge the first two strikes, block the third one with her forearm, and barely managed to whip her head out of the way of the fourth. Not that it mattered. In an instant, their opponent changed their stance and hit Midnight with a powerful right hook. She staggered back from the blow, then steadied herself and attacked again. The opponent moved deftly to the right and the trap was set.
Aizawa activated his quirk. Whatever power they had been using all night wasn't about to be available to them. Aizawa smiled, there would be no escaping from this. Power Loader burst from the ground, grasping at the opponent to bring him in and trap him. It. Was. Perfect.
Accept for one problem. The opponent vanished just before Power Loader could trap him. Aizawa blinked in surprise. No one could use they're quirk while under his gaze unless they were a mutant type, which his opponent clearly wasn't. His eyes flew over the scene in front of him, looking for his opponent. He found them, behind Midnight with their fist at her side. Then they vanished again and reappeared with their knee in Power Loader's chin. The force from the attack sent Power Loader into the air, before he crashed back down to earth, unconscious.
Midnight was next. The opponent smashed their foot into her solar plexus and she flew backwards, gasping for breath. She hit the dirt and struggled to her knees, only to receive a sharp strike to her crown before she sprawled on the ground, joining Power Loader in the land of dreams.
Aizawa stood still, looking over his defeated companions. His eyes returned to gaze at his opponent, who grinned back and cracked their gauntleted knuckles. Aizawa cast his capture weapon in an attempt to entangle them, but the attempt was, again, in vain. Once again they vanished, and when Aizawa could see them again, their fist was in his face and the light was fading from his eyes.
. . .
Aizawa's eyes opened and he shot up into a sitting position. He took a moment to take stock, looking around. He was in UA's medical ward. A quick glance to both his left and right told him he wasn't the only one there, either. He could see his fellow teachers there as well, all still unconscious. He breathed in deeply and let out a strong sigh. It would seem that they had severely underestimated their opponent.
The sound of an opening door drew his attention, as Chiyo Shuzenji, Pro hero Recovery Girl, entered the room, accompanied by UA's principal, Nezu. They both immediately noticed Aizawa was awake and began to make their way over to him.
"How do you feel?" "Like I was hit by a truck, other than that, I'm fine." came Aizawa's reply. "Good. Now, who the hell did you all fight?" Chiyo was shaking her head as she made
the inquiry. "They did a number on you guys." Aizawa winced at that, "How bad was it?" Recovery Girl picked up a clipboard, "You and Ectoplasm were more or less fine. Nemuri
had a couple of her ribs cracked and Majima had his mandible all but crushed. It was fractured in three separate places. How on earth did they even manage that? Who were you fighting?"
"One of the supervisor candidates," Aizawa grunted out, "I don't remember their name". Chiyo grabbed another clipboard that was lying nearby and began scanning it, "Was it
Sawada Tsunayoshi?" Aizawa nodded in confirmation, "I believe so. What does his background check say?
Who trained him and where?" Chiyo spent a moment reviewing a few documents before she gave her answer. "According to this, he's untrained." "That's not possible. He took out four of us without taking so much as a scratch. You
don't do that without training. Is he possibly a villain?" Chiyo shook her head, "Not really my area of expertise. Any thoughts, Nezu?" A short pause later and Nezu gave his response, "I don't think so. He seemed quite
sincere during his interview. He did seem a tad evasive, but I'm assuming that has to do with the nature of occupation."
"His occupation? What does he do?" "Aizawa, my good man, did you even read the briefs I sent out? He's the head of a
security firm.Vongola Security. It was for his experience in the field that we even considered him for the position."
"Vongola Security, huh? What's their resume look like?"Aizawa asked. "Protection of several high profile individuals from all over the globe, though it seems
the bulk of his work was done in Europe."
Chiyo up to this point was merely listening, but now she had to ask something, "Why is the head of a security firm with an established clientele abroad, applying for this job? It was for individual applicants and seems a bit far from his usual area of operations."
"Mr Sawada is a Japanese national and has the desire to work here in his homeland. He asked me if he passed through the screening, if I would consider extending a contract to his firm, and I must say. After the display he put on tonight, I'm very tempted to."
"One thing still bothers me." Aizawa began, "He wasn't affected by my quirk, yet he has no obvious mutations. What's his quirk?"
"Ah, yes. His quirk is quite a curious one at that, can't say I've ever seen anything like it. According to his registry query, it's name is Dying Desperation."
"What the hell does that even mean?" "According to the registry it draws great power out of him whenever he is in fear of
dying." "What the hell?
