Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. The challenges persisted, but so did Kakashi and Sakura's determination to face them together. Kakashi took on the role of Sakura's constant support, ensuring her safety and well-being with unwavering dedication.
As Sakura's pregnancy progressed, they faced new hurdles. Kakashi attended every doctor's appointment, learning about the unique considerations that came with Sakura's condition. The medical team worked closely with them, devising strategies to make the journey as smooth as possible.
Kakashi started to hover on Sakura. And he was actually thankful that Naruto was already ready to take over as Hokage so he passed the mantle to his former student to take care of his pregnant wife.
The support from their friends and the medical team helped alleviate some of the challenges, but there were still moments of frustration and vulnerability. Sakura's disorientation persisted, and the physical limitations imposed by her condition became more pronounced.
One evening, as they sat together in the living room, Kakashi could sense Sakura's growing discomfort. He watched as she shifted uncomfortably on the couch, her hand rubbing her swollen belly.
"Sakura, are you okay?" Kakashi asked, concern etching his voice.
Sakura sighed, a mixture of exhaustion and frustration evident in her eyes. "It's just... hard to breathe, Kakashi. I think your child is kicking inside. And probably kicked hard and I think your child kicked my bladder as well."
Kakashi chuckled softly, trying to lighten the mood. "Well, can you stand up a little I want to check for any leak. We don't want you to smell like urine all day."
Sakura rolled her eyes playfully, appreciating Kakashi's attempt to lighten the situation. "Very funny, Kakashi. But seriously, even with my inability to feel, it's getting uncomfortable. I look like a beached whale."
Kakashi grinned, reaching over to gently rub Sakura's swollen belly. "Our little ninja is just getting active, that's all. Let me feel."
Sakura laughed as Kakashi placed his hand on her belly, trying to feel any movement. "I swear, this baby is going to be a little troublemaker. Just like its father."
Kakashi smirked, "Well, it's in the genes, you know. We're both troublemakers in our own way."
As Kakashi felt the baby's movements, a tender smile crossed his face. "That was a strong kick." He commented. "Maybe the baby is practicing taijutsu inside." he teased.
Sakura chuckled, a warm and genuine sound. "If our baby inherits your skills, Kakashi, we might have a little ninja prodigy on our hands. I just hope you can keep my baby away from Guy-sensei. I don't want him teaching my baby about the springtime of youth."
Kakashi laughed, imagining the scenario. "Don't worry, Sakura. I'll make sure Guy doesn't fill our child's head with too much 'youthful' energy. We'll keep the little one away from any intense training until they're ready."
"I hope you can stop him from giving my child a green spandex too." Sakura added. "For sure he viewed you having a child before him as your win in your never-ending rivalry."
Kakashi grinned, "I'll do my best, Sakura. No green spandex for our little one. We'll make sure they have their own unique style."
She chuckled, and decided to push her luck. "And your Icha Icha?"
Kakashi raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Well, we might need to wait a few years for that. I'll make sure to keep the Icha Icha collection well-hidden until our little one is old enough to appreciate... literature."
Sakura rolled her eyes playfully. "No Icha Icha for my kid, Kakashi. Ever."
Kakashi chuckled, "Alright, alright. No Icha Icha for our little one. We'll stick to more age-appropriate stories."
Sakura nodded in mock seriousness. "Good. I don't need our child quoting explicit content at the academy. I think Iruka-sensei had just enough with us before."
Kakashi grinned, "Fair enough. We'll spare Iruka from the Icha Icha sequel. Our little one can discover those masterpieces when they're older."
Sakura grinned. "Good." she touched her belly and watched as her baby's foot potruded slightly. "You know, I hope they also inherit your kindness and love."
Kakashi leaned down to press a gentle kiss on Sakura's forehead. "I'm sure they will. With you as their mother, they'll have the best of both worlds – strength and compassion."
The moments of joy and connection, like feeling their baby's movements, became beacons of light in the midst of their challenges. Kakashi continued to adapt, finding ways to make Sakura comfortable and ensuring that their home was a safe space for her.
One night, as they were getting ready for bed, Kakashi noticed the bright red liquid running down Sakura's legs. Panic surged through Kakashi as he saw the sight, his mind racing to comprehend what was happening. He rushed to Sakura's side, his voice tense with concern.
"Sakura, what's happening? Are you okay?" Kakashi asked urgently, fear evident in his eyes.
"What?" Sakura asked and looked where Kakashi is looking. "Oh." she whispered. "I think the baby is coming. Sorry, I can't feel anything so I'm not sure."
Kakashi's heart raced as the realization set in. He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "Okay, stay calm, Sakura. We need to get you to the hospital. I'll carry you and I'm going to run over there. Just hold on to me, okay?"
Sakura nodded, her hands gripping Kakashi's tightly. Kakashi scooped her up in his arms with the careful expertise of a seasoned ninja, and he rushed out of their home toward the hospital.
The night air was cool against their skin as Kakashi navigated the quiet streets. Sakura's breaths were uneven, a mixture of anxiety and anticipation. Kakashi did his best to reassure her, his voice a steady presence amidst the urgency.
"Don't worry, Sakura. We're almost there. Everything is going to be fine. Just focus on staying calm." Kakashi spoke with a calm authority, though his own heart raced with a combination of fear and excitement.
Upon reaching the hospital, Kakashi swiftly carried Sakura through the doors, alerting the medical staff of the situation. Sakura was quickly ushered into a delivery room, and the nurses called Tsunade.
Tsunade arrived promptly and smiled at him. "It will be okay, Kakashi."
Kakashi nodded, grateful for Tsunade's assurance. He stayed by Sakura's side as the medical team prepared for the delivery. Despite the anxiety and fear, there was an underlying sense of hope and anticipation.
As Sakura lay on the hospital bed, Kakashi held her hand tightly, offering silent support. Tsunade guided the medical team, providing instructions and reassurances to both Sakura and Kakashi.
Tsunade kept checking on Sakura because she cannot process the pain that accompanied the labor. "Okay, Sakura, it's time."
Sakura nodded, her eyes reflecting a mix of determination and vulnerability. Kakashi stood by her side, gripping her hand even tighter. He felt a surge of emotions, knowing that this moment marked the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
The medical team assisted Sakura through the labor process, their expertise ensuring both her and the baby's well-being. Kakashi watched with a mixture of awe and concern as Sakura faced the challenges without the ability to feel the pain that accompanied childbirth.
As the moments stretched on, Sakura's breaths became more rapid, the intensity of her efforts evident on her face. Kakashi leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss on her forehead, offering whatever comfort he could.
"Sakura, you're doing amazing," he whispered, his voice filled with pride and love. "Our baby is on the way. Just a little longer, and we'll get to meet them."
Sakura managed a small smile, the strain on her face revealing the effort she was putting into the process. The medical team guided her through the final stages of labor, and then, with a cry that filled the room, the baby was born.
Kakashi's eyes widened in awe as he saw the tiny, fragile form of their newborn being placed in Sakura's arms. The emotions swirling within him were overwhelming – joy, relief, and an overwhelming sense of responsibility as a father.
Tsunade smiled, seeing the precious moment between the new parents. "Congratulations, both of you. You have a beautiful, healthy baby boy."
Kakashi's voice caught in his throat as he looked at the little life they had brought into the world. "Thank you, Tsunade. Thank you for everything."
Tsunade nodded, her eyes softening. "It was my pleasure, Kakashi. You both did wonderfully." She handed the scissor to Kakashi to cut the umbilical cord, symbolizing the start of their journey as parents.
Kakashi carefully cut the cord, his hands steady despite the whirlwind of emotions inside him. As the medical team continued to ensure the well-being of both Sakura and the newborn, Kakashi turned his attention to his wife, a soft smile on his face.
"Thank you, Sakura."
Sakura just smiled at him and watched with anticipation as Tsunade handed her a swaddled baby. She reluctantly accepted her son.
"Thank you, Lady Tsunade." Kakashi thanked the woman again. "Thank you for everything tat you did for my family."
Tsunade smiled warmly. "It was my pleasure, Kakashi. Your family has a special place in my heart. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to ask." She looked at Sakura. "Now, take some time to bond with your baby."
Kakashi looked down at Sakura, who was cradling their newborn son with a blank expression. "Sakura?" he called her name. "What's wrong?"
Sakura looked up at Kakashi, her eyes reflecting a mix of exhaustion and a lingering sense of disbelief. "I... I can't feel him, Kakashi. I can't feel anything. I can't feel him physically and I don't feel anything for him emotionally." She passed the baby to him. "I don't think I can love him, Kakashi."
Kakashi's heart sank at Sakura's words, a mixture of concern and empathy in his eyes. He gently took their newborn son into his arms, cradling the tiny life that had just entered the world.
"Sakura, it's okay. It's okay if you can't feel him physically or emotionally right now. It might take time, and that's perfectly normal," Kakashi reassured her, his voice tender. "Let's give it time, and we'll navigate through this together."
Sakura looked at Kakashi with tear-filled eyes, a sense of guilt and frustration evident in her expression. "But what kind of mother can't feel anything for her own child, Kakashi? I should be overwhelmed with love, but all I feel is emptiness."
Kakashi leaned down, pressing a soft kiss on Sakura's forehead. "It's okay. You just gave birth. It will kick in soon."
"Shouldn't I fall in love with my baby as soon as I see him?" Sakura asked him. "Why don't I feel that? I can perfectly feel inside, my heart can still love. It's just the physical aspect that got ruined. Why don't I love him, Kakashi?" Sakura is already rambling, and her tone got higher and higher as she asked him.
"Hey, Sakura, it's okay." Kakashi interrupted her. Still holding the baby in his arms, he carefully sat down beside her. "Look at me, Sakura. Please, look at me."
Sakura reluctantly met Kakashi's gaze, her tear-filled eyes searching for reassurance.
"Feeling disconnected right now doesn't make you any less of a mother, Sakura," Kakashi said softly. "Emotions are complex, and it's okay if it takes time for them to catch up. Your love for our baby will come, and I'll be here with you every step of the way."
Sakura swallowed hard, her emotions swirling within her. "But Kakashi, what if I never feel that overwhelming love? What if I can't be the mother our child deserves?"
Kakashi adjusted his form to make the baby in his arms more visible to her. "Look at him, Sakura."
"He's a part of both of us, a symbol of our love. It's okay if the connection takes time to grow. Parenthood is a journey, and we'll navigate it together. The fact that you're concerned about being a good mother already shows that you care. Your love for him will come, and until then, I'll love him enough for both of us." Kakashi smiled at her and gently handed the baby to Sakura, ensuring that she had a good hold. As she cradled their newborn son, Kakashi sat close, his arm wrapped around her for support.
Sakura looked down at the tiny life in her arms, her eyes filled with a mix of emotions. "He's so small and fragile. I want to love him, Kakashi. I really do."
"You will, Sakura. And I'll be here to support you every step of the way," Kakashi assured her, pressing a gentle kiss on her forehead.
