Astrid was preoccupied with flying her dragon, but she couldn't help noticing Hiccup's glance that quickly turned into a full on stare.
That annoyed her. Though she had to bite her lip to prevent a small grin escaping her face.
His stare is like a dagger. Can't he look away for just a second. Now his hand is on my shoulder, that's rich.
What is he doing? Ok, I'm just going to focus on Stormfly now. Oh look, she has a little bruise here. I should figure out where that came fr… Oh for Thor's sake! Now he's coming closer.
What should I do? Should I nudge him away? No, that would be too cruel. He just had a rough journey. On the other hand, his journey included another girl.
The fact that he didn't even feel guilty about it.
She felt her grip tightening around her saddle. As soon as she noticed, she loosened it. Not wanting to seem as if this is bothering her.
Just keep cool. Maybe he won't notice that anything's weird and he'll just let it go.
Hiccup's head moved close to her neck and it was as though a second passed and his chin was resting tightly on her shoulder.
What is going on? Is he trying to look cute? Cause he's not. If she dared to look down, she would be able to see his little scar on his chin and the brown specks inside his gorgeous green eyes.
His hand is moving. Where is it gonna go? Oh, It's in my hair. That actually feels nice. What am I doing? Why am I thinking that?
He placed a soft kiss on her neck. If he is trying to make up for what he failed to mention before, it is not working. But he does have a soft touch. Maybe I could let this go? Just this time? … …
No. Go-o-ods! Why is this so complicated? Why can't we be a normal couple that has fun and doesn't care. Actually, that wouldn't be as good as what we have now.
I'm not even sure how I'm keeping a straight face when he's so… What's the word I'm looking for?... … Hiccup.
When they landed and unsaddled their dragons, Hiccup's eyes were still firmly set on Astrid's.
She didn't dare look his way because it would most likely lead to making up even if she's still mad at him and she was sick of letting arguments go when she hasn't even gotten mad yet.
She made her way towards her house and she saw Hiccup speed walking towards her from the corner of her eye. She started walking faster because she did not want to have a fight in front of the whole village.
They really know how to gossip around there. "Astrid, wait. Please?" she heard his voice call. It would be against her principles to let him talk to her but she couldn't help wondering what he would say this time.
Slowing her pace, she waited for that excuse but to her surprise, it didn't come. What awaited her was much worse than any excuse he could craft up in his little thinking forge of a brain.
"Why are you mad at me?" This shook her more than anything he said ever before.
"I'm not!" She lied through gritted teeth. Hiccup looked unconvinced.
"Uh, yeah. You are. I know you better than anyone, Astrid. Just tell me what made you upset, all I want to do is help!" He says, exasperation seeping through his voice.
She couldn't hold the rage inside anymore. "What made me upset? Are you seriously asking me that?" she let out in a scream. She thought he'd learned. From his face, she could tell he was uncomfortable and she wanted him to be.
"Well, how about not even caring enough to mention the detail of how you met another girl and it was totally cool, and she was probably so much better looking and the way you described her flying! You made it sound like she was some sort of superhero on a dragon! A dragon flying superhero that you completely fell in love with and we now have to find her because she was so interesting!" She was completely out of breath and now that she had said those words out loud, she realized how stupid they sounded.
Did she really have a reason to be mad at Hiccup? Being mad at her own boyfriend just because he so much as looked at another girl?
God, she sounded like an old housewife that made him dinner and he was late again so she completely lost it on him. She was practically running to the door as she heard Hiccup yell after her, but not make a move to follow her.
Good. She didn't want to see him right now. Just then did she notice all the eyes currently on her. Perhaps the whole Berkian village now knew about her little outburst.
Avoiding anyone's eyes, she swiftly turned and slid into her house, only to be greeted by her staring family. "Back off!" she yelled before storming into her room, really only angry with herself.
He must think I'm completely off the dragon now. She let her thoughts soar from one spectator to another while she laid miserably in her wool bed.
The sun made its way across the sky and when the whole village was sleeping, Astrid lay awake until she saw the sun rise once again above the cliffs.
"Astrid!" Hiccup yelled at the blonde who was running to her house, but made no move to run after her.
He didn't understand how she felt but knew she just wanted space. He felt frustrated thinking of the fight they just had.
What had Astrid meant when she said he fell in love with the girl? How could she ever for a second think he cared for any girl but her?
He didn't understand why she couldn't just trust him. He was staring after her, for a long minute after she had entered her house.
He then turned away and made his way to the chief's house. When he entered, his father was sitting at the table and was perfecting one of the many wooden ducks he had already carved.
Hiccup said nothing and started going up the stairs as his dad spoke. "I heard you and Astrid have a fight, before."
Hiccup shook his head. "It was nothing, dad." "What did you do, son?" Stoick asked. Hiccup rolled his eyes and continued going up the stairs.
"What. Did. You. Do?"
