Jaune was in class for the Seventh Year Potions. On the first day of seeing him, they worried about what would come since he was much younger than them. In their mind, 'How can someone so young teach us about a subject that he only started to learn?' which was quite understandable. However, after nearly two months of being taught by the inconspicuous potions master, self-proclaimed, they were learning more than they could have with Snape since Jaune instructed and explained the interaction of the ingredients.
He was teaching them how to make the Draught of the Living Death. The instructions were as follows: Add the Infusion of Wormwood. Add the Powdered Root of Asphodel. Stir twice clockwise. Add the sloth brain. Add the Sopophorous bean's juice. Stir seven times anti-clockwise. Of course, unlike a particular former potion teacher, he used proper safety when brewing the potion. He explained why it had to be stirred twice anti-clockwise, then seven times anti-clockwise when the Sopophorus bean was added.
As Jaune looked at the class attempt at the potion process, he said, "Miss Hughes! Remember, anti-clockwise, not clockwise. Not doing so would result in an explosion, harmless as it might be. However, I doubt you would appreciate being covered in sooth all day." The student nodded her head and continued.
At the end of the class, Jaune made an announcement. This was quite an exciting announcement, even though he had already done it for multiple-year groups. He said, "Before I let you go for dinner, I have an announcement to make…With the permission of Professor McGonagall and Headmaster Dumbledore, I have created a club named 'Study Club.' I know it isn't quite a catchy name, but this was created to help students struggling with subjects including, but not limited to, Potions, Transfigurations, DADA, Herbology, etc. The only exception is Divination. Plus, since today would be the first day of the club, there would be a demonstration between Flitwick and I. It should be quite the show. Please do come even if you only want to observe."
One of the students raised their hands and asked, "What kind of demonstration are we talking about?"
Jaune smiled as he caught their attention. He replied, "A duel. However, it is nothing like the duelling circuit you would have been familiar with. We would demonstrate how a wizard or a witch would duel to claim the life of another. There will be no rules. Although, I would place many different protections to protect the students, Flitwick and I."
Jaune was now smirking; all of them were genuinely interested, even if it was only due to wanting to watch a duel, but that did not matter as he would put on a show to show how great they could be if they joined the club.
At dinner, Jaune sat with Ron, Hermione, Harry and Neville. Neville's toad is very relaxed these days, which takes a load off the boy since he does not have to worry about his pet running away. However, looking at the boy's wand, Jaune said, "Neville, you need to get the right wand for you."
Neville replied, "I know, but this wand belonged to my father, and Grandma would not like it if I decided to change it to a different one. She wants me to use his wand to honour his sacrifice to save me."
Jaune rebutted, "That is a great thing, but the wand could pose a danger since it has not set its allegiance to you and is actively working against you. One wrong spell and you could end up losing your life. Just speak to your grandmother and explain that you have an issue with it. She might understand how important getting you a new one is."
Being the timid boy he was, Neville was afraid to confront his Nan about his wand situation. In the beginning, when she gave him the wand, he knew it was not for him. However, seeing his Grandma's expression when he took the wand, he did not dare to tell her the truth.
As everyone ate dinner, letters arrived. Usually, this would be during lunch, but sometimes, they come during dinner. Tonight happened to be that day. Owls dropped letters everywhere to their designated targets. Jaune received one from Tonks.
"Tonks?" Hermione, Harry, Ron and Neville thought when they saw the letter. They've never heard Jaune talk about people he knew outside of Hogwarts.
Hermione asked, "Who's that from?"
Jaune replied, "Her name is Nymphadora Tonks, but she prefers to be called Tonks. However, I call her Nymphadora anyway to irritate her. She is a friend I made before Hogwarts."
Jaune and Harry first met in Muggle London. Tonks was beginning her Auror training and was patrolling in the area where Jaune magically appeared when he first arrived. She brought him home since he was charred all over. Her mom was a Healer, and she needed to move fast. Thus, she Apparated in their home, to the shock of Andromeda. To both mother and daughter's surprise, Jaune suddenly regenerated rapidly.
He explained to the family that he had nowhere to stay since he was out of this world, and Andromeda offered her home. Since then, Jaune has been living with them. There was a downside to this. The mother pokes him with her wand to figure out his high-speed regeneration. He didn't care since she was a Ruby at best and Weiss at worst. Thankfully, she wasn't a Nora.
Eventually, Jaune found out he was having issues with using his full strength in his childish body, prompting him to need a place to train. This made him take out the blueprint he used in Orario to make their Mansion and the one in Vale.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, Jaune was building a new home for himself and the Tonks' when the Hogwarts letter arrived, and when Minerva arrived at the address, he was alone. Thus, she did not know Jaune had already explained everything about the magical world. Thus leading to Jaune and Minerva's relationship.
Jaune looked at the letter in his hand and read the contents:
[Dear Jaune… Blurgh! That's boring!
Wotcher Jaune!
It's been a few months since you went to Hogwarts, and I'm genuinely curious to hear about your latest adventures. Knowing you, there's bound to be some excitement and mischief involved! Especially with Minerva. Does she know about you living with us? I remember you saying she thought you knew nothing about the magical world.
Anyway, how's everything at the castle? Are the professors still as eccentric as ever, and has Snape managed to find a way to make his classes even more unbearable? I can't help but wonder what sort of trouble the Weasley twins have been brewing up this year. Say hi to Fred and George for me.
Oh! And in case you're wondering, life in the Auror Department is as hectic as ever. Moody's still giving me a hard time about being clumsy and knocking things around, but I've learned to give as good as I get. Tonks style, you know?
Enough about me, though. I'm genuinely interested in hearing your side of the story. Any new discoveries? Unusual creatures lurking about? Perhaps a new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor who's not about to be fired? Right, I don't think I told you about that one. Every year, there would be a new DADA professor. According to legends, some curse the spot to always be available at the end of the year.
This letter is getting a bit long. Write to me when you can, and we'll arrange a visit soon. Take care, Jaune, and don't forget to fill me in on all the juicy details!
All the best,
Tonks]
Jaune took out a parchment and his enchanted fountain pen and started writing a reply. He told Nymphadora how he was an assistant teacher to the Transfiguration Mistress and how he turned Snape into a cockroach and was not expelled for it, even getting him a paid job. Next, he also mentioned that he was training with Wood for the upcoming Quidditch match. Then, he wrote about Harry, Hermione, Ron and Neville.
Hermione raised an eyebrow at Jaune. She wondered why he was using a fountain pen, not a quill like everyone else. So she asked, "Why aren't you using a quill as stated in the things to buy for Hogwarts?"
Jaune looked up to her and replied, "I'm someone from a Muggle background. I know the existence of pens. Why would I downgrade to a quill? Fountain pens are smoother and much more comfortable to use. Plus, with a simple enchantment, I made the ink cartridge able to contain over a hundred litres of ink, meaning no need to refill for a long time."
Hermione was about to say something, but Quirrell shouted, "Troll in the dungeons! I thought you ought to know." He then sank to the floor in a dead faint.
There was an uproar. It took several purple firecrackers exploding from the end of Professor Dumbledore's wand to bring silence. "Prefects," he rumbled, "lead your Houses back to the dormitories
immediately!"
One of Ron's brothers, Percy, was in his element. He shouted, "Follow me! Stick together, first years! No need to fear the troll if you follow my orders! Stay close behind me now. Make way, first years coming through! Excuse me, I'm a prefect!"
Quirinus Quirrell was not a good man. He was using the Troll as a distraction. He could have let the creature roam the dungeon to ensure no one would get hurt, but he was not a good man. To ensure the distraction was long-lasting, he guided the Troll to the Great Hall to cause death and distraction as he headed to the third floor to retrieve what he desired.
It did not take long before a crashing sound was heard, followed by a multitude of screams.
Jaune, being a Huntsman, went into action immediately and did something shocking, even to Albus Dumbledore. He opened a portal beneath the Troll, which led to the Forbidden Forest.
Dumbledore said, "Since the problem has been resolved, all students can return to their dinner, but since I doubt anyone has any appetite after that fiasco, I think it would be best if everyone returned to their dormitories."
Quirrell looked at the situation; he was vexed. His distraction did not last, and now he was feeling pain as the Dark Lord sucked his life and magic, not that he knew that.
In his office, Dumbledore was thinking. He does this a lot, but usually, it is about Riddle. However, this time, Jaune occupied his mind. The boy was an enigma. Whenever he believes he got him figured out, another thing indicates he understood nothing. He thought to himself, "He was able to open a portal at Hogwarts. He was able to bypass the wards of the castle. That should not be possible. Even more so, I should have received feedback from the ward about such an activity, but I received nothing."
Albus said out loud, "What is going on? Why is there such a variable?"
He had no answers to any of his questions.
As for Jaune, he was vexed. Tonight was the first day of his club, but it was delayed for tomorrow due to the incident with the Troll. He said, "It's only for a day."
Why was Jaune vexed? It was because he got a mission from the Voice, which would give him an ability that could temporarily allow him to enter his adult form, limited as it may be. However, there was a dread that he was feeling, and he would take what he could get. Something tells him that completing this mission is a must.
In the Forbidden Forest, the Troll that Jaune sent away was walking without aim. However, it felt a compulsion from deep within the forest. It heard a voice saying, 'Come to me,' 'Seek me out,' 'Find me!'
The Troll, a creature of low intelligence and survival instinct, approached the area of the voice. At the end was black smoke surrounding a round object on the ground. If Jaune were here, he would be able to know how dangerous the object was.
The Troll reached forward, and a dark tendril stretched over from the round object and started assimilating the Troll before it. In no time, the Troll was covered in a cocoon.
