The Head Girl's room was a luxurious sanctuary, enchanting and inviting. It surpassed even Bella's room at Spinner's End, where she resided with Severus. With its grand cloud-like king-sized bed and a warm fireplace, the room exuded comfort and elegance. A magnificent mahogany desk stood proudly by the window, while a corridor beckoned, leading to the exclusive Prefects and Head Girls' bathroom.
"I can't believe I get to use this enormous, bubbly bathtub!" Bella exclaimed with a hint of excitement as she stepped into the chambers.
"You're going to love it! You can even indulge in my bath oils; my Nonna sent them to me all the way from Tuscany," Imelda replied, offering a white nightgown to Bella from the wardrobe.
Bella's curiosity piqued. "You're Italian?" she inquired.
Imelda nodded, a smile on her face. "My grandmother is. I'm a Muggle-born, but she claims that her great-grandmother was a witch."
As Bella explored the chamber, she couldn't help but compare it to her modest room at Spinner's End. The stark contrast between the two made her yearn for the luxuries she now enjoyed. She imagined herself wandering through the picturesque landscapes of Tuscany, getting lost amidst the majestic cypress trees captured in the photographs.
Travel. It was something she yearned for, an experience she longed to have beyond the confines of Spinner's End.
In the study, Bella noticed numerous letters and papers scattered about, some even discarded in the trash bin.
"Those can be ignored," Imelda assured her. "Just some students begging me to cover for them."
That night, as Bella drifted off to sleep, her mind filled with dreams of power and respect. She vowed to work hard, to elevate her standards of living, and to savor all the wonders life had to offer. She also resolved to prove to all those who had bullied her, belittled her weaknesses and needs, and judged her current state, that she was destined for greatness.
One question lingered in her mind before sleep claimed her completely: How had Pansy discovered the truth about her parents' situation? It hadn't been mentioned in any of the letters she received, nor had she confided in any of her Gryffindor friends. The mystery intrigued her, and she hoped to uncover the truth in due time.
...
Bella's dream took a step closer to reality when Professor Dumbledore announced her new position as a Slytherin Prefect, replacing Pansy. The satisfaction on her housemates' faces made up for all the humiliation she had endured the day before. Her fifth year at Hogwarts couldn't have started on a better note.
Over at the Gryffindor table, the students were celebrating and throwing a party. They saw Bella as their friend and considered her appointment as a victory against the Slytherins.
"Why are they happy? It's not even their house!" one of the first-year students wondered aloud.
Bella continued to enjoy her meal, savoring the delicious Vanilla Custard, until the boisterous atmosphere in the Great Hall was suddenly interrupted by a burst of laughter. The source of the commotion was none other than the mischievous Weasley twins, Fred and George. They had decided to play a prank on the Slytherin table, much to the amusement of the Gryffindors.
In a flash of magical brilliance, the Slytherin students found themselves covered in purple and green confetti, courtesy of the Weasley twins' enchanted, self-replenishing confetti cannons.
The Gryffindors erupted into laughter and applause, seeing this as a playful act of rebellion against the usual Slytherin dominance. Bella couldn't help but smile at the sight,
"Hey Bella! Sirius says hi and he asked me to give you these," Harry said, handing her a few photos.
Bella took the photos from Harry and blushed as she glanced at them. Sirius Black looked sun-kissed and carefree in one photo, standing on a beach at sunset surrounded by muggles. In the other photo, he exuded a sense of adventure and excitement as he posed on a Harley-Davidson, wearing a leather jacket.
Feeling a mix of admiration and embarrassment, Bella quickly turned the photos back to Harry, as if afraid of being caught staring.
"Keep them, Bella. Sirius has sent me so many already! Look!" Harry showed her a full envelope with funny-looking feathers and more photos.
Just as Bella was about to accept them back, Hermione stood up and packed her bag, announcing her intention to go to the library.
"The library?" the boys questioned.
"We're going with you!" Bella exclaimed, pulling Ginny along by her robes.
"Hey! Who's 'we'?" Ginny asked, confused but willing to go along with her friends.
After the prank, Bella, Hermione, and Ginny made their way from the Great Hall to the library. As they walked down the grand marble staircase, their footsteps echoing in the empty corridors. The walls were adorned with portraits of ancient wizards and witches, their eyes following the girls as they passed by.
They strolled through the dimly lit corridors, guided by the soft glow of floating candles.
Hermione spent ten minutes reading and the rest of the hour meticulously copying information onto parchment rolls. The students were all exhausted, especially with exams looming ahead. The Gryffindor Quidditch team struggled to concentrate amidst their rigorous training. Ginny, confident that one of her crushes would do her homework, couldn't resist the peaceful atmosphere The room was bathed in a warm, golden light that filtered through the stained-glass windows,so.. she drifted off to sleep.
"Let her sleep. She's been training since six in the morning," Hermione said to Bella, the sound of quill scratching against her parchment.
Bella, dipping her quill into the ink bottle, couldn't help but share something Sirius had mentioned before he left on his travels.
"There's an important fair coming up in April. It's crucial for me if I want to pursue a career in potions. The problem is, I don't know how to attend without Severus finding out about my contact with Sirius," Bella confessed.
Hermione raised an eyebrow. "Why were you contacting Sirius in the first place? Harry was curious as well, but he didn't want to pry."
"But we're not Harry," Ginny chimed in, now awake and fully engaged in the conversation.
Bella took a deep breath and spilled the beans, revealing the source of her newfound wealth. Hermione's eyes lit up with a clever idea.
"If you want to go, you should suggest it as an educational trip. After all, you're a prefect now, and your voice carries weight!" Hermione suggested.
"I think Professor Sprout might know something about it, or even Hagrid! You can tell Professor Snape that you heard it from them," Ginny added.
"Great idea! We should pay a visit to Hagrid after classes today," Bella exclaimed, feeling a sense of hope.
