Zoë sits next to Grace and puts her arm around her shoulders. "So, do you think your mom would let us have another sleepover tonight?" Zoë asks. Grace shrugs off Zoë's arm. "You're right, we should keep things undercover. Secrets are super sexy." Again, Grace says nothing, just looks at her laptop. "What's wrong? Did your mom hear us?"
"No, she didn't," Grace says, finally looking at Zoë. "At least she didn't say anything about hearing us."
"So, what's wrong then?" Zoë asks.
"Can we keep us a secret for now?" Grace asks softly, looking around to make sure no one can hear them. "Neither of us are out and I just want to have some time to process everything before we get bombarded by everyone."
"Are you not okay with what happened last night?" Zoë asks uncertain.
"No that's not it at all!" Grace says. Again, she looks around before taking Zoë's hand. "I really enjoyed last night. And I would like to date you, if you want that too. I really like you, Zoë."
"I really like you, too," Zoë says smiling. "And I'd love to date you."
"So can we keep this quiet for now?" Grace asks.
"Yeah, we can," Zoë says. "Although I'd really like to kiss you right now."
"Keep it in your pants, Rivas," Grace says, smirking and letting go of Zoë's hand.
"You seemed to like me without pants last night," Zoë says.
"What can I say?" Grace says, eyes back on her laptop. "You've got great legs."
Zoë rolls her eyes and shoves Grace. "That's all you've got to say?" Grace doesn't reply, just smirks at Zoë as the teacher walks into the room to start class. After class ends, they go their separate ways. Later when Zoë is going to lunch, she is suddenly pulled into the girls' restroom. Before she can say anything, she is being pushed up against the wall as soft lips she recognizes as Grace's press against hers. She is about to melt into the kiss when they break apart, both breathing heavily.
"You weren't the only one wanting to kiss earlier," Grace says.
"I'll say," Zoë replies. "You know you could've just texted me to meet you here instead of pulling me in here without warning."
"Where's the fun in that?" Grace asks. Zoë shakes her head and kisses Grace, this one softer than the first one. They leave the bathroom before anyone can walk in and head to lunch. They grab lunch then sit next to each other at a table with their friends.
"What took you guys so long?" Zig asks.
"Zoë made me wait for her and was taking forever," Grace says.
"Not my fault everyone decided to use the same bathroom," Zoë replies.
"You shouldn't drink so much coffee," Grace says. "Then you wouldn't have to pee all the time."
"I don't drink it all the time," Zoë defends.
"Zoë, you literally walk in to school with coffee every day," Tristan says. "And you keep bottles of cold coffee in the student council room. Pretty sure I saw you take 2 of them earlier. That's 3 coffees before lunch."
"I had a late night so just needed some extra caffeine," Zoë says.
"Why the late night?" Maya asks.
"I was…just busy with stuff," Zoë says.
"What were you doing?" Zig says. "It wasn't too late when Grace's mom kicked us out."
"What were you doing at Grace's house?" Maya asks Zig.
"Um…I had a homework question," Zig stammers.
"Yeah, he crashed our movie night for homework," Zoë says.
"You guys hadn't even started a movie yet," Zig argues. "So, what did you do after leaving Grace's that you were up late."
"Nothing," Zoë says.
"You just said you were 'busy with stuff'," Tiny points out. "Sexy times with a new boyfriend?"
"No," Zoë says. "I don't have a boyfriend."
"Maybe sexy times with a new girlfriend," Tristan says.
"Shut up, no," Zoë says.
"Maybe sexy times by yourself," Grace says smirking at Zoë.
"I hate all of you," Zoë says.
"So, Grace was right?" Tiny asks. "That's hot."
"No!" Zoë exclaims. "I just couldn't sleep so I was up doing random things around my house. Cleaning my room, reading, stuff like that."
"That's boring," Tiny says. "I like Grace's suggestion better. It's a hot image."
"No!" Zoë says.
"Dude," Grace says. "You have a girlfriend. You should not be thinking about other girls. Especially ones you consider friends."
"Sorry," Tiny says. With everyone going back to their lunches, Grace nudges Zoë's leg and places her hand palm up on her thigh. Zoë smiles and puts her hand on top of Grace's, intertwining their fingers. Grace squeezes her hand then eats her lunch. When the bell rings signaling the end of lunch, Zoë and Grace let go of each other's hand and throw away their trash then walk to their next class together. They sit down at a table in the back.
"That was so not cool," Zoë says to Grace.
"It's just so easy to tease you," Grace says. "And that was the perfect opportunity. I am sorry though."
"I definitely could've done without Tiny's comments," Zoë says.
"Yeah, that was uncalled for," Grace says.
"Thank you for calling him on it," Zoë says.
"Anytime," Grace says. "We may be keeping our relationship quiet but that doesn't mean I won't stick up for you."
"Just maybe try to not cause people to say things like that about me," Zoë says.
"I didn't make him say it," Grace says. "But, noted. I'll try not to say anything that could lead to that again."
"Thank you," Zoë says.
"So, am I forgiven?" Grace asks, taking Zoë's hand.
"I'll let you off easy this time," Zoë says. She leans in closer to Grace "But you owe me some kisses later."
"I think that can be arranged," Grace replies. She squeezes Zoë's hand before letting it go.
