I guess it's about time for me to continue this fanfic.
I guess when you write so many fanfics you forget about some of them sometimes.
My apologies.
Still, thirty-nine chapters isn't bad, am I right? With this chapter I'll be adding the total to forty, but anyways…
Chapter 40: Getting Iggy With It
Our heroes explored the airship to search for Iggy.
They could hear him laughing, which made things easier for them as they could follow the sound. Why exactly did he laugh so much? Was it because they had Luan with them?
While Iggy wasn't so hard to track, they still had baddies to contend with.
Like some Charging Chucks.
"Let's get 'em!" exclaimed one of the Chucks.
This team of Charging Chucks were the Koopa Broncos. They had once won a national championship. And they had a trophy to prove it, too.
The Chucks charged towards them.
"I've never tried playing football up in the sky." noted Lynn.
It probably wasn't such a good idea. What if the football fell to the ground? How would they play then?
Luan zapped them with electricity.
"Ouch!" exclaimed the Charging Chuck. Her attacks were no laughing matter, contrary to her personality.
Mario kicked Kooper towards them.
Some Fire Bros showed up. It seemed appropriate since they were just in a volcano.
"You shouldn't play with fire." noted Kooper.
"It's dangerous!" exclaimed Bombette.
The Fire Bros spat out fireballs at the heroes.
They ended up igniting Bombette's fuse.
She exploded.
"Aaahhh!" exclaimed the Fire Bros. That was one powerful attack. Maybe they should consider themselves lucky that most of the Bob-Ombs were on their side.
"Don't say we didn't warn you." spoke Bombette.
Some Melon Piranha Plants appeared.
"Aren't they from Super Mario Bros Wonder?" asked Goombario.
"This sure is a call forward!" exclaimed Lincoln. Twenty-four years forward or so.
The Melon Piranha Plants spat out seeds at them.
Lola blocked them with her parasol.
Lily whacked a Melon Piranha Plant with her rattle.
Lana poisoned the Melon Piranha Plants.
"I guess we should have stuck to platformer Mario games." remarked one of the melon Piranha Plants as he was defeated.
Still, being featured in a crossover fanfic made them feel special. Maybe other people would follow the author's example if they hadn't already.
The party went into the warp pipe.
Sure enough, the skinniest of the Koopalings was waiting for them.
"Hahahahaha! You're going down, punks!" exclaimed Iggy.
He launched a green fireball at them. It seemed that his wand could rapid fire.
Lincoln ducked underneath it.
He then leapt to the other side of the arena.
"He's like an evil version of you." noted Lana.
"I can see the resemblance." admitted Lisa. They both were associated with the color green, and they both wore glasses.
Some people said that she had a few screws loose as well. But she was mentally sound by comparison to him. And a lot shorter as well.
Iggy used his wand to summon Chain Chomps.
The Chomps barked at the heroes.
"Aaah!" exclaimed Parakarry. He recalled a previous incident where a Chain Chomp had barked at him while he was delivering mail.
Luna had an idea.
She heard that music could be used to soothe the savage beast.
So she decided to play a song.
This worked surprisingly well.
All the Chain Chomps fell asleep.
One of them snored.
"What just happened?!" exclaimed the Koopa. It looked like his minions had been incapacitated. How could he wake them up?
It looked like Luna just might be the VIP in this battle.
It made Lincoln glad he kept searching for his siblings. Their abilities were useful for all sorts of situations.
Iggy summoned some tornados.
They were green in color…and sent our heroes flying.
"Whoa!" exclaimed Lincoln.
"Hahahahaha!" laughed Iggy. He certainly was having a lot of fun in this battle.
"Why does he laugh so much?" questioned Lucy.
"I don't know." answered Sushie.
However, Luna hit him with a fireball.
"Ouch! That was spicy!" exclaimed the Koopaling. It seemed this girl was packing some serious firepower.
He went into his shell in retaliation. It seemed Koopalings had a habit of using that as a counterattack.
Our heroes scrambled to avoid him.
But a few did get hit.
"Ouch!" exclaimed Goombario. Those spikes hurt.
"Oof!" shouted Luan.
"I broke a nail!" complained Lola.
Lincoln attempted to attack Iggy, but he blew him away.
"Too slow!" shouted the Koopaling.
"He's quick." thought Lincoln. Probably faster than the other Koopalings they had faced so far.
The Chain Chomps began to wake up.
One of them sank his teeth into Bow.
"Ouch!" exclaimed the ghost.
She tried turning herself invisible, but the Chain Chomps began to sniff her out.
"I guess invisibility can only get me so far." noted Bow. She shouldn't overly rely on it. Was there a power block that she could use?
Watt was doing well against the Chomps.
They couldn't bite her without getting zapped.
"Hee hee!" giggled Watt. This was going well for her.
And of course, she could pierce their defense.
Luna decided to see if she could put them to sleep again.
It would be much easier if the enemy didn't have reinforcements.
However, Iggy noticed what she was doing.
This time, he tried to put a stop to it.
"How about a fireball to the face?" asked Iggy.
However, Luan zapped him with electricity.
"Oww!" exclaimed the Koopa.
This caused him to drop the fireball on the floor.
After putting the Chomps back to sleep, Luna then blasted Iggy with music notes.
"Whoaaaaaa!" exclaimed Iggy.
That attack had been a bit too much for him to defend himself against.
He fell on the floor. Now he knew why the other Koopalings before him couldn't handle the heroes.
Now there were only two Koopalings left.
And only two Star Spirits.
They sure had come a long way.
"Thanks for saving me!" exclaimed Misstar. She could tell why the other Star Spirits thought they stood a chance at defeating Bowser. They just might be able to save all seven of them.
No doubt her healing abilities will come in handy for them.
She couldn't restore FP like Eldstar could, but 20 HP wasn't bad at all.
Our heroes then left the airship and went back to the island.
The residents were happy they had defeated Lava Piranha and Iggy.
"My intuition tells me that we should ask Kolorado about something before we leave…" suggested Kooper. It would save them some backtracking if that were the case.
"Is it because you're such a huge fan?" asked Bow.
"I feel like he has something that we need to find the sixth Star Spirit." explained the Koopa. If he could help them obtain the Star Spirit, they should consult him.
Though he would enjoy talking to him again.
"If that's the case, maybe we should ask him." noted Lincoln.
Meanwhile, Iggy Koopa was being bullied by the Fearsome Five.
They drew on his face while he was knocked out.
"Hahahahaha!" laughed the red Yoshi.
Meanwhile…
"There's only two Star Spirits left! Why can't my minions defend them?" questioned Bowser. It seemed not even the Koopalings could handle the job. He heard that Iggy had failed.
"It's alright. I have a backup plan." assured Kammy. Bowser assumed that Mario and Lincoln would never get all seven, but knowing how many times Mario had defeated Bowser, it was possible that they could.
She had also made sure to hide the sixth Star Spirit pretty well. Ironically it was underneath Mario and Lincoln's noses. She thought that would be a clever hiding spot.
Though to be fair, Mario and Lincoln had already found the second Star Spirit despite how hidden it was.
But on the other hand, the baddies guarding it were a lot stronger than the ones that had been guarding the Star Spirit in the desert. Tutankoopa was much weaker than Huff N Puff was.
The Flower Fields might look peaceful, but the baddies were strong. There were even Amazee Dayzees in that area. They were known to flee, but there was an occasional Amazee Dayzee that stood their ground.
Their attacks were downright devastating.
Though if you did take one down, the rewards were spectacular.
As usual, Peach would be gathering information.
And Clyde would help her.
Kamek decided to send for another Koopaling.
He got the feeling that Ludwig would save himself for end.
He had a habit of doing that.
But admittedly, he didn't always do so.
His hunch turned out to be right.
"The Flower Fields? That's too feminine for my tastes!" exclaimed Ludwig. Though with Huff N Puff around, chances are the Flower Fields were about to become a darker place. He was going to take it by storm.
"I suppose the scent of the flowers would be nice…and I would imagine it's near water." noted Wendy. She wasn't obsessed with flowers contrary to stereotypes, but it was nice to smell them.
"It's your turn then, Wendy. Show them your girl power, if you please." instructed Kamek. He didn't want Mario and Lincoln to invade Bowser's Castle, that's for sure.
"With pleasure." spoke the girl.
Wendy left for Flower Fields.
Peach and Clyde discovered a room where some minions were taking a break from their duties.
As luck would have it, the minions were playing a trivia game.
And they knew where the sixth Star Spirit was.
Either way, it would be a good idea to play the game.
Prizes were available if they participated…and they could help Mario and Lincoln.
"Can we participate?" asked Peach.
"Aren't you supposed to be in your room?" questioned a Hammer Bro. It seemed the princess had a rebellious streak. The guards certainly had their hands full with her.
"I'm planning to go back there." explained the princess. Once she had the information Mario and Lincoln needed, of course. She imagined she would only need to do so two more times.
"Ok then! You can play!" exclaimed the bro. So long as she honored the terms of their deal.
Bowser was conversing with Huff N Puff and Crystal King.
They were surprised that they were the only ones left.
Why hadn't Mario and Lincoln been defeated by now? It seemed Bowser was sending everything but the kitchen sink to take care of things. And he was running out of ideas, too.
"I hope you two can get things under control. Five Star Spirits is just too much!" exclaimed Bowser. They certainly had a lot of power now.
"Five Star Spirits? The heroes are not to be underestimated." noted the Crystal King.
"I can handle it. If they attack me, I can just heal myself!" exclaimed Huff N Puff.
He also had powerful storm attacks. He imagined he could target the whole party with them.
Though he would make sure that the Star Spirit was well-defended, just in case.
He had hired Boomerang Bros.
And some Lakitus.
There was also the fact that in order to get to him, our heroes needed to find a way to reach the clouds.
And he would have Wendy on his side, just in case. He liked to think she would be helpful to him, considering that she had the power to create copies of herself.
He just hoped that she didn't throw one of her temper tantrums. He heard Roy of all people was afraid of her. That was saying something.
"For our first question…who is the first Star Spirit that Mario rescued?" asked the Hammer Bro.
The contestants had three choices to choose from.
Peach chose Eldstar. She remembered who had guarded Eldstar as well. It was a good thing they had managed to track him down. Having the power to restore your HP and FP was useful.
"Correct!" exclaimed the Hammer Bro. It seemed appropriate that he was the first Star Spirit to be rescued, considering he was the one who began Mario's journey.
They were in first place.
"Doesn't Chuck Quizmo have a quiz just like this?" asked Clyde. It didn't seem likely he would come all the way up here to complain, but still.
"Yes. But it's not a score-based quiz." explained the Hammer Bro. You just had to answer a question correctly and then you won a Star Piece.
"Oh. That seems fair." admitted the boy with the glasses.
"We baddies have some originality." assured the bro.
It was time for the second question.
"Who had the second Star Spirit?" asked the Hammer Bro.
"Tutankoopa!" exclaimed Clyde.
"Correct!" shouted the Koopa with a hammer.
"How many siblings does Lincoln have?" questioned the bro.
"Ten!" exclaimed Clyde.
"Where is the sixth Star Spirit?" asked the Hammer Bro.
Peach could tell the answer was Flower Fields, because the other two answers were areas as to where Mario had been previously.
"Congratulations! You won!" exclaimed the Hammer Bro.
"I knew we could do it!" cheered Clyde.
"Maybe I should have read the player's guide." remarked a Clubba.
"I'm sure you'll do better next time." comforted a Koopatrol.
As a reward, the two got a sneaky parasol.
The two went back to their room.
They had all the information they needed.
And a new way to sneak around the castle, to boot.
Meanwhile, Bowser decided to attend the quiz.
"Why wasn't I invited?" asked the Koopa King. A quiz show seemed too good of an opportunity to pass up. And given that he was a king he should at least be able to be part of the audience.
"My apologies, your highness. We thought you were busy coming up with a plan to defeat Mario!" exclaimed a Koopatrol.
"I'm having Huff N Puff take care of him. He's pretty strong so I'm sure he can handle things." explained Bowser.
Alternatively, perhaps the Amazee Dayzees could handle Mario. Their attack power was second to none. If only they were less timid.
If Huff N Puff failed, it was all up to the Crystal King.
The sixth chapter was about to begin.
I hope you liked this chapter.
I figured I should continue this fanfic.
It's gotten a lot of reviews after all. I think it's my second-most reviewed fanfic, actually.
I wasn't expecting so many.
Let me know if you want Kent C. Koopa to appear.
He's an optional boss but I can still feature him.
He appears after Chapter 5, hence this decision.
