Chapter Five: Three FlamesKai stood there amazed at what he was staring at, a little girl with blue flames in her hands. The blue light danced across her showing her stitched outfit of various materials. Kai noted she was young, no older than Lloyd was when he was first brought in.
"Hey there, can we step closer?"
There was suspicion in her eyes, but she walked past the security of her dragon. Kai stepped forward too, laying down his backpack as he stepped forward and opened his palms so that she could see he was not a threat. He bent down on his knees when he was a couple of feet away from her.
"This is impossible," He whispered while examining her flames closely.
What he thought was a solid blue flame was blue towards the bottom with a yellow top. He brought his own hand forward letting her examine the fire he was producing.
"You are a dragon like me," she whispered.
Did she honestly think she was a dragon? He could not rule out the possibility, especially with Lloyd walking around with one-fourth dragon blood. It would be better to play alone.
"Yeah, what is your name Little Dragon?"
"Wyldfyre."
"My name is Kai, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"Plea-sure?"
She must have limited knowledge of words, but if she thinks she is a dragon then that means she was raised like one, but then that raises the question of who taught her to speak. That person can shed some light on this.
"Wyldfyre are there any more dragons like me and you in this area?"
"No."
Okay straightforward, he can work with this. He looked at the dragon, its eyes still trained on him.
"What's the name of your friend over there?" he motioned towards the dragon.
"That's Heatwave, they are family."
"Want to know something cool, I used to work with a dragon like that too, though they didn't look like that," he brought his bag beside him and pulled out an old picture of him and Flame. "This is Flame, he was one of my greatest friends and was family to me too."
"What happened to him?"
She held the picture looking at the dragon puzzled.
"He met his end to Dragon Hunters a long time ago."
Wyldfyre looked incredibly sad, he thought at first, she was going to cry, but it quickly turned into a scowl. The empathetic girl that was standing in front of him had shifted into something else, something angrier.
"Those hunters you speak of, they belonged to the first realm did they not?"
He turned his head, the Dragon now standing over him. The tongue of dragons, Wu had taught him how to when Flame was first around. He had completely forgotten he knew it.
"Yes, it is," he did not like where this was going.
"While I did not reside in the First Realm when the merge occurred most of the souls have been extinguished from that realm."
He grunted, scratching his head, it was a mix of emotions that he did not care to have. He had more important things to worry about anyway. Returning his focus to Wyldfyre she was staring at him, her face returning back to its neutral state.
A yellow pop ruptured throughout the sky causing alarm to all three. The sound of aircraft rapidly coming up on them filled the air. He could hear both Wyldfyre and Heatwave growl at it.
"What is going on?" he begged for an answer.
"Dragon Hunters."
