A/N: This is a filler but it's going to get crazy from this point!

I will be posting sub-chapters after every other chapter 3

I will have to break down the different grouping because I don't want anyone confused!

Chapter 2

"Ow." Mercedes muttered rubbing her temples. She tried to steady her eyes but it was far too bright so she pulled the covers over her head and shut them again drifting off.

"Raise and shine!" James said walking into his daughter's room.

"No, it's too bright!" She mumbled from under the covers and he just chuckled.

"You do know that you could sleep all day at your place, if you'd ever go there right?" James replied earning a defiant wiggle in response.

"We need to talk about what happened two days ago."

"Wait, two days?" Mercedes asked pulling the covers down just enough to squint her eyes at her father. James Jones was an easy man to look at, very pleasing on the eyes with his deep brown skin and kind features. His large frame, deep burly voice lured in a lot of women, women Mercedes didn't care too much for because she knew they were only after one thing.

Money. The Jones were... wealthy. That's putting it lightly considering they owned half of the town and because of this fact she'd basically grown up friendless and far, far away from Cider Hills.

She'd grown up with her mother, a very mean and gorgeous woman. She completely understood why her father refused to stay married to her, she hated having to be there as a child and never understood why when she begged to live with him he refused. She would ask every weekend until she would just start refusing to go back home whenever her mother came to get her, she would kick and scream and shout but her father would always sit her down and explain that she had to go back.

He would always say I need you to be a big, brave girl and go back. She hated when he would do that because no matter how angry she was in those moments all he would have to do squeeze her hand and she would immediately feel calm. It was like magic sometimes, she would fly off into a rage and he would do it then whatever anger that existed would just be gone, sometimes she would forget the reason she was even angry. He only stopped telling her she had to go when she turned seventeen and her mother stopped coming back after he said she could stay.

She hadn't seen or heard from her mother in five years, no great loss there though because she only spoke to her when she was had to. She wanted so badly to say she never got anything good from her mother but she did, her looks. It would be an absolute crime for the child of James and Yvette Jones to have an unattractive child, she wasn't as tall as her parents but her beauty matched if not surpassed theirs. She wasn't vain, she didn't see what everyone gushed about when they would compliment her and she didn't understand why everyone was obsessed with her eyes.

They were ordinary brown eyes, she'd never seen anything special about them and would usually just smile at the compliment.

"What were you thinking wandering off drunk?" James asked.

"I was drunk, I wasn't thinking." She mumbled.

"You can't be in the woods like that especially at night and especially alone. You have to be careful, understand?" James said then asked before placing his hand on her head and just like that whatever hangover she had coming vanished.

"I didn't mean to go that far." She admitted sitting up and scrunching her face at her father's attire. "Where are you going all dressed up?"

"I- a meeting and don't change the subject. No more drinking and no more wandering… if you can help it." He instructed giving her a hard look that she challenged with a raised eyebrow before they both broke with smiles.

"Have fun at your meeting."

"Eat and get out of the house but do not go back to the woods." He replied winking at her before leaving.

"Don't go back to the woods." Mercedes mocked sighing and climbing out of bed to do just that.

Stay away.

"Oh great I'm hearing voices." She said to herself before walking into the bathroom to shower.

"Everyone, I called this meeting because-"

"Because of the woman you protected last night?" Sam's mother interrupted making him roll his eyes because he could tell by the look of the other council member's face that they were intrigued.

"No, we are no-"

"So there's a we? Will this young lady be joining us for the fall festival?" His father interrupted and Sam groaned because the rest of the council started firing off questions.

"Be quiet." He said and no one heard him making him angry.

QUIET!

The entire room fell silent and Sam had to give his self a moment to compose his anger. He looked around at everyone intentionally looking them each in the eye to further drive the point to never interrupt him again into their minds.

"Now, I called this meeting because there's a threat trying to infiltrate our borders and before any of you ask no, I don't know just yet how severe this threat is… I just know we have a problem." Sam said gauging everyone's expression before landing on his father's stern face.

Dwight Evans was a large man of few words but his facial expression was telling Sam everything he needed to know, he was not pleased about this threat. Neither was his mother but for other reasons because he could tell she wanted him to find his mate to finally come into his full powers but he couldn't until he mated. Every year after him assuming the role of Alpha his abilities would spike but he stopped growing in strength and the longer he resisted finding his mate, the more his powers began to wain.

Sam hadn't been with a woman since his first satyriasis with his ex Quinn, who was not only apart of the pack but also a member of the council. Her family was like his except that her father was his father's beta for a long time, both families believed Quinn was his mate and would become the Luna but it never happened. When a wolf met it's mate it felt like the world stopped or so he heard that was the feeling but because he was an Alpha it wouldn't come as easy, as sudden. He would have to trust whoever he mated with because they would be at his side always and that's how he knew Quinn wasn't his mate because he did not trust her.

"What are you doing to ensure the safety of the pack?" Dwight asked his son.

"Right now, I'm putting us on lock down and adding more patrols." Sam replied.

"Wait if you put the pack on lock down then that means the ball is off for the season and it's an annual thing." Quinn said furrowing her brows, Sam hated when she would do that because he knew it meant she wasn't going to back down until she got him to compromise. Quinn was beautiful, smart and very much cunning. She also like most of the council members had special abilities, hers was the ability of manipulation all she needed to do was stare at you with those pretty green eyes of hers and she could make you do just about whatever she wanted.

Her powers stopped working on him when he became Alpha and he realized their entire relationship was based on a lie, she wanted him to believe that she was his mate but he could never understand why he didn't feel the same way until his mind was completely free of the haze she put him in. After he assumed his new role no ones powers worked on him anymore but his worked on everyone including humans, though he rarely used them on them… well except for last night when he allowed the woman in so she could hear him.

"The ball as of now is still happening but it will change if I see fit that it needs to be." He answered and judging by the way she cut her eyes at him she was not happy with his answer but he didn't have the energy to fight her today.

"I'm only saying that a lot of the new, younger wolves are looking forward to the ball and the ball is good for the beginning of the satyriasis and mating season." She countered. The satyriasis was a period in which wolves', manly male wolves had uncontrollable sexual desire and their hormones would cause the women around them to go into a nymphomaniac state. This particular ball just so happened to mark mating season for them as well.

It was tradition that the Alpha would kick off mating season with a ball, this was the first time in years that both mating season and the satyriasis intertwined and it was also the first time in years that the current Alpha was unmated. Sam understood how everything looked on his end, he's anger was always evident and his lagging strength was causing his Beta, Santana to feel the pressure of taking place. She was mated and was expected to challenge him should he not become mated within the next few years. Something that Santana had warned him about and made very clear she would find his mate if he didn't hurry the hell up.

"I'm well aware but the safety of the pack I more important than a ball and it's not a priority of mine."

"Samu-"

Do not test me on this Quinn.

"Now we also need to discuss the amount of human traffic we've gotten in the past months, the woods have always been our safe place for training and doing runs but-"

"I think I can help with that." Santana chimed in nodding at her mate Britney and everyone shot her a look.

"She can enchant the woods." Santana explained rolling her eyes.

"It's too dangerous." Quinn interjected shaking her head.

"Wait, can you enchant that big of the area?" Mary, Sam's mother asked.

"I can do it." Britney answered with a sweet smile. Sam shot Santana a look and when she nodded he knew that she wouldn't have volunteered her mate for a big job like that if she couldn't do it. Britney wasn't like more wolves in the pack, her powers were oddly impressive considering she was… a bit airy. She would often make offhand comments and would base her decisions off of her cat but she was sweet and very dedicated to the pack so Sam allowed her to sit in on the council chats from time to time.

"Sam you can't honestly be considering this!" Quinn said slamming her hand down.

"I am and if you have a problem with it I suggest you get it over it and quickly." Sam answered his voice loud and thunderous.

"You're trusting the fate of our pack and this community in the hands of… Britney?" Quinn barked back and Santana stood getting ready to shift.

"If you want to remain apart of said pack I suggest you watch your temper and how you speak to me." Sam threatened and everyone on the council let out a sharp gasp.

No one had ever been exiled from their pack and Sam threatening to do it now was not only him showing his anger but him flexing his real power. Quinn had over stepped one time too many and she would bow to her Alpha or she would be forced to leave the only home she'd ever known. She would be completely isolated and no longer allowed to reap the benefits of being apart of their pack, everyone watched in silence as they had a stare down before Quinn nodded and sat in her seat.

"Then it's set Britney at midnight you will go out and enchant the woods, Puck and Santana will be your guide. I will be patrolling with Mike and Matt because there's… someone needing taken care of but for tonight everyone is be in their homes by no later than ten thirty." Sam said and everyone understood there would be no further debates.
