Hi... sorry it took so long. I haven't been confident in this chapter but I promise it's about to get good!

Enjoy!

Chapter Eleven

Dwight sat across from his brother, looking at him closely before sighing. "How is this possible?" He asked.

Stevie frowned, passing him an old newspaper. "Do you remember when the witches came out? After that girl attacked Pop?"

He nodded looking at the newspaper, seeing that it was dated for the same day of the witch's visit. "What about it?"

"Read the advertisements."

Dwight flipped through the paper before finding it and skimming over it. "It's just job postings."

"You were always more wolf than brains." His brother said pointing at a particular rolled his eyes before reading the section he pointed out.

In search of motivated individuals: Local group looking to form a group of motivated individuals who know about the history of Steelridge and want to be a part of the Guild of Reds.

Dwight looked at him confused. "What the hell is a Guild of Reds?"

"Now you're asking the right question." Stevie said, slamming down an old picture. "Anyone look out of place?"

He looked down at that picture scanning it before noticing a slice of red in the back. "Who's that?"

Stevie smirked. "Ask a better question."

"Oh for fucks sake, why is any of this important? And what does it have to do with the witch?" He asked before a feeling rushed over him, he blinked noticing his brother sporting the same expression.

"Shit, I haven't had a feeling like that since… you." Stevie said, before walking over to the desk and grabbing something else. "These witches are masterful but they didn't think about the threat it would bring forcing this to happen now."

"I… what are you saying? They picked two random children and threw them together?"

Stevie snorted. "No, that's not how it works… at all. Your son and their daughter would've met no matter what. Whether it be in the time or the next, there was no stopping this but forcing it to happen sooner than intended means they're trying to flip the tide."

Dwight looked at his brother even more confused than he'd begun. "What does this have to do with Sam seeing his very dead grandfather?"

"He saw him because he isn't dead." Stevie said, running a hand through his hair. "He was put in a sleep of sorts… from what I understand a witch owed him a favor."

"Which witch? I don't understand why they need them together or why he's attacking my son!"

"The woman from the Divine Coven… Darlene."

Sometime ago...

"Moma, why are we doing this? The council already met with the wolves."

Darlene shh'd her daughter when they reached the clearing. "I'm here!" She shouted, grabbing her daughter's arm gently. "Don't say a word and don't move."

"Wait, what?" Yvette asked before her mother waved her hand over her and everything went black around her.

"You have five minutes."

Darlene sighed. "I know you're planning on attacking us, the coven for what they decided and what my daughter did but you'd be doing more harm than good"

Howard looked at her before frowning. "So you know and came to me instead of your coven?"

"I have a child to protect… what she was wrong but attacking us will only make us even more enemies and that's not necessary."

Moma!

"Sending a clear message about our position in this town is very necessary, how would my pack respect me if I allow for a little witch to have bested me?"

Darlene ran her hands through her hair. "I can give you something better. A favor. A witch's favor is more powerful and unbreakable. No matter what it is, I will have to honor it."

Howard smirked, slowly shaking his head. "And if the favor is to give me your daughter?"

"I can not do that. You mean to harm her, I can not give you a person you intend to harm, it is against my nature and it is against the bylaws." She replied, nervously.

"Then what favor is worth preventing this attack?" He asked, circling her. "What favor do you suggest that will stop my decision?"

"The favor, once granted, doesn't have to be fulfilled until you are ready. You can summon me when you're ready to use it…"

Moma, what are you doing!?

Howard narrowed his eyes on her. "I told you to come alone."

"I am alone. No one with power outside of myself is with me." She replied swiftly.

"I smell the witch that attacked me."

"She's not a witch anymore, her powers have been stricken from her because of what she did to you." She said taking a step closer to Yvette. "She has been punished so there is no need for you to attack."

"BUT THE PUNISHMENT DIDN'T COME FROM ME!" He shouted.

Darlene shook her head. "That uncontrollable anger is why you will lose if you attack. The favor has been offered, I can't take it back. You will know how to summon me when you're ready." She said, waving her hand, revealing Yvette.

Howard snarled, beginning to shift but was stopped when Darlene snapped her fingers.

"You can never harm this child or any that she may bear, I forbid it." She said firmly before releasing him from the hold she held him under.

Howard tried to lunge at Yvette but was met by a powerful force field. "RELEASE THE GIRL AND CONSIDER THE FAVOR COVERED." He snarled.

Darlene grabbed Yvette's hand and led her away. "You don't know what you've done but you better hope he never figures out how to summon me."

"Why did you do that!" Yvette asked, snatching away from her mother. "You could've just killed him! You're powerful enough!"

"No, I'm not and you asking that proves why your powers needed to be taken away! You don't think about what will happen later or in the years to come." She replied, grabbing her arm and forcing her daughter to look at her. "You are the first witch we've had to stricten, you are the catalyst to this all! You started something bigger than all of us and don't even realize it!"

Yvette looked at her mother, seeing the urgency riddled all over her face. "What are you talking about?"

"Fate."

"So the witch's grandmother is why pop is alive?"

Stevie nodded. "Simply put, yes but why he's after her is different. She's pure power, should she ever fully tap into her powers she could reverse time I'm exaggerating but she could do some real damage."

Dwight stood, taking a step away from his brother. "How do you know this?"

His brother flashed his blue eyes at him before chuckling. "Oh little brother, there's plenty of reasons I couldn't be Alpha but it's not what you're thinking."

Dwight felt the hair along his neck stand on high. "You knew I'd come…"

Stevie shrugged. "Those witches have always been predictable, I knew when she told you that we'd be tied to them forever so I did what needed to be done."

"You're just like him…"

"Ha! That's hilarious considering you left your son alone, during a time he'd be at his weakest. How is the claiming of the witch going? I'm guessing the pack knows that the same rituals usually abide by aren't the same when an Alpha chooses outside of the pack… right?"

Dwight shot him a confused look. "He hasn't-"

Stevie raised his hand. "Spare me, you felt it just like I did. She's his and he's hers. But the minute he tries to make it official she will snap his mind in half." He said, "Besides they won't get a chance to get that far because-"

Dwight began to shift, involuntarily while Stevie winced in pain before he too was forced to shift.

"What is this! Why are you doing this!" Dwight asked.

"It's not me… something… something's… wro-"

When Mercedes came to, she felt like she was encased in a fluffy pillow before feeling a slight nudge. Her eyes fluttered open more and she saw Sam staring back at her. His green eyes replaced with yellow ones as he was in wolf form, she could feel heat radiating off of him.

"What… what happened?"

He tilted his head as if to respond to her but she didn't hear him, she could only hear the sound of the forest. Leaves rustling, the wind's soft breeze and nature.

She looked at him before realizing his breathing was labored and his eyes looked tired. "Something's wrong." She stated, sitting up and when she did he let out a low groan.

She'd been laying on him, almost nestled perfectly hidden by his large frame. His ears shifted and he tilted his head again before letting out another low groan.

She quickly got to her feet, looking him over before seeing something silver and red stuck in his back. She heard his breathing growing even more ragged, before placing her hand on him.

"I think I have to remove it." She said knowing he wouldn't be able to reply. She gripped the object and pulled on the dagger which didn't give immediately but she pulled again and the dagger came clean out.

Sam let out a loud howl before painfully shifting back into his human form. "I-I can't st-stay l-like this." He huffed out. His breathing was heavy and she could tell he was struggling.

"I… what do you need me to do? What happened?"

He looked at her before his eyes rolled back and he went limp.

"No, no, no… Sam! What happened?" She asked but he didn't respond. She quickly placed her hand over, trying to stop the bleeding but it just kept flowing.

"The only way to save him is by you leaving." She heard, seeing Quinn standing there snarling at her.

"I can't leave him. I-"

Sam began coughing, gasping for air before his eyes flew open and he let out a loud groan. Quinn ran over to Sam, shaking him but he didn't wake.

"You see! You are a curse! You're the reason he's so weak! The Luna is supposed to make him more powerful but you are going to be what kills him!" She shouted.

Mercedes shook her head, trying to figure out why she couldn't stop him. "I don't… I'm not trying to hurt him." She sobbed out. "All of this is insane, I have powers that only work sometimes. I don't know what I'm doing and I don't have any help."

Sam started breathing heavily and the blood was still coming with no end in sight Mercedes shook her head before placing her hands on his chest. "Breathe." She said softly but nothing happened and she let out a breath.

"BREATHE!" She said more aggressively but like last time nothing happened.

"HELP HIM YOU WITCH!" Quinn shouted before Mercedes snapped her head at her.

"I'm trying! I don't… I- I can't… I think I'm too weak or something… I don't know how to control these things!"

Quinn moved closer, leering at her. "Well you better figure it out quickly otherwise you'll have me to deal with." She warned.

"AND I SAID I COULDN'T!" She shouted back, feeling her anger starting to surface and the air around them became increasingly hot.

Send a few guards this way.

Mercedes felt a rush run down her spine, she had never been this angry before but the fact that she was sending for help infuriated her. Mercedes could feel herself losing her grip.

"Mercedes?"

"Sam?" Mercedes asked and his eyes flew open but they weren't green they were yellow, much like how they were when he was in his wolf form. He bared his teeth at her before sniping at her.

She moved back, shaking her head. "I don't… what's wrong?"

A devilish grin crossed his face. "You are what's wrong, you are the cause of his death and the cause of great darkness." He replied as he began to slowly shift into wolf form but it wasn't like he'd done before. It looked painful and it was as if his bones were breaking.

"Let me end this now and save a lot of people the hurt you will cause!" He growled and she tried to calm her mind but she was beginning to panic.

"Stop moving!" She shouted and he just snarled. "St-stop moving!" She shouted again holding her hand out, willing him to stop but nothing was happening.

"Your powers won't save you from this, you are a sitting duck and-" He said before falling lifeless to the ground and a large black mass shot out of him.

Quinn ran over to Sam, shaking him but he didn't wake. "WAKE HIM UP!" She shouted as the other wolves began to approach. "You were always going to be a problem but no one listened…"

Santana started to approach but something forced her and the other wolves to stop. A barrier kept them from getting any closer, she signaled for the other guards to circle around but there was no access or way for them to get closer.

"What happened?" Santana asked but her voice was muddled and warped. It was like a forcefield.

"You should be glad he sent out a distress call before passing out. You brought so much attention to us and now we have to deal with whatever caused this!" Quinn said, stepping away from Sam and closer to Mercedes.

"I didn't… mean for any of this to happen…"

"Wake him up." Quinn demanded.

Mercedes felt another rush of anger flow throughout her body, she felt threatened and she could feel hot power coursing through her veins.

"Do not test me." Mercedes warned.

Quinn snarled. "You can't hurt me, you stupid witch I have the pack with me."

"I am the assumed Luna and you will not talk down to me!" Mercedes said calmly, slowly invading Quinn's mind. "He doesn't want you, you will never be his Luna."

"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" Quinn screamed, wincing.

"SHOW RESPECT!" Mercedes demanded, forcing Quinn down on her knees.

Quinn bared her teeth at Mercedes before grunting. "You are not Luna until you've mated!"

"I SAID SHOW RESPECT!" Mercedes repeated, tilting her as she felt another surge of power jolt throughout her body.

Quinn slowly began to shift, revealing her wolf form which was larger than Mercedes expected it to be.

Until he claims you, you are a threat to us!

Mercedes let out a breath, seeing the others surrounding them before shaking her head. "I AM THE LUNA AND I WILL SHOW YOU." She shouted, lifting her hand before slamming it on the ground.

The moment her hand hit the ground everyone saw a bright glow of golden light followed by a surge of power bursting through them and Sam let out a long breath before his wound healed.

Quinn looked over at Sam as he slowly began to rise as the others were finally able to move closer to him. "A luna protects and heals her mate." Mercedes said, looking at everyone. "I don't know why this is happening but if this ball is going to make things easier then everyone needs to be united."

Quinn shook her head, "You really think anyone will believe that you're our luna?"

Sam cleared his throat, wincing as he stood. "She's right… we have to be united. There's something else out there, something far worse than we're prepared for… so we have to make this ball the moment to let anyone know that the Steelridge wolves and their new Luna is a force to be taken seriously."

"I agree." Santana said, earning an appreciative nod from Sam.

"NO!" Quinn growled before starting to charge at Mercedes, stopping when Sam stepped in her way.

"You touch my Luna and you will know a pain that no one has ever experienced. Stand down!" He said and Quinn whimpered before running off away from the pack.

"Puck go make sure she doesn't do something stupid. As for the rest of you, we have a ball to get ready for and I fear we might need to expedite the preparation. Each guest will need to check thoroughly." Sam said, wincing again.

"Well we better get her trained and we better do it quickly." Santana said, "The ball is in two days and you two haven't even… mated. They're going to know, the other wolves are going to smell it."

Sam looked over at Mercedes before frowning. "We will figure that out in time but this is more pressing than that. They can still accept her before any ritual. They have no choice, I'm choosing to stay by her side… she's saved me more than once and that can't be a coincidence."

"Well, let's get started." Santana said before guiding the others away and Sam looked at Mercedes.

"What happens now?" She asked as they slowly followed behind everyone else.

"We play the part, you and me. Alpha and Luna… but we have to be convincing, like Santana said, they'll be able to smell that you're untouched." He replied, wincing again.

"What do you mean they can smell it?"

"We have a very strong sense of smell." He said, placing his hand on his side. "You're a human so you give off certain scents. Some of you smell foul and some of you smell sweet but when we're going through a mating phase, we can also smell virgins."

"All of you can?" She asked, looking mortified.

Sam chuckled. "Only Alphas and their Betas can, which is why Santana knows and she let everyone else know."

Mercedes frowned. "Why would everyone need to know that? That's personal…"

"It's for your protection."

They reached the pack house and before she was able to ask what he meant by that she was pulled away by Santana.

"You'll see each other in two days' time when you make your entrance."

Sam looked at her before nodding and walking off. "Why are we separating?" She asked, allowing Santana to tug her down the hall into a room.

"To prepare for your unveiling."

"Did you see that?"

"Yes, I did… we need more reinforcements. The vampires won't be enough."'

"Will, why are we working with them instead of rounding them up too?"

Will Shuester was the Steelridge leader of the Guilds of the Reds. He was proud of his work, he watched his father and grandfather work hard to keep the witches that ran rampant around Steelridge ever since he was a young child and now it was his turn to do the same. He grew up hearing the stories about mythical creatures and beings but he never knew it was real until he witnessed his grandfather being controlled by a deranged witch.

He remembers hearing her laughing and taunting before releasing him and walking away like it was nothing. He'd never seen his grandfather so powerless before and it angered him to his core. He wanted to protect the people of Steelridge from that type of threat and vowed to stop any witch he'd come in contact with but by the time his grandfather passed away any sign of witches vanished.

This didn't stop him from looking and he;d managed to discover a smaller coven of witches that his team was successful in getting rid of, which is how he stumbled upon the The Divine Spirit Coven. He'd heard plenty about that coven of witches and he also knew that no witch hunter had been able to get close to them.

They were more organized and more equipped at warding off anyone that intended harm on them but they failed. They left one of their own alone and she was the one that would tip the scale on everything. He prided himself on the fact that he would be the one to rid Steelridge of one of the most powerful covens ever.

"We're working with them because they're a means to an end, after we take out the witches we will make it look like it was the vampires and the wolves will take care of them for us." Will explained.

"And what happens when that backfires?" Harmony, his second in command, asked.

"It won't this has been long planned out since I was child, it's foolproof. The Alpha is standing by the witch so we'll make it look like a vampire did it."

"That's the stupidest plan ever, it might've worked back then but did you not just see what she did by herself?"

Will bawled up his fists. "We have someone on the inside and they have close connections with that witch. We simply will not fail."

Harmony shook her head. "You're delusional if you think that those witches don't know about us!"

Will let out an annoyed breath. "Understand, this is my family's legacy and I will not rest until all of the witches in Steelridge are dead."

"You will need to call Dave, he's pretty good."

Will made a face. "No, he'll get us killed… he's too much of a hot head."

"Well, whether you like it or not we're gonna need him and we're gonna need Ken too. You should also consider calling Terri."

"Fine but if this fails because of you, I will literally throw you to the wolves. But lucky for you, we have a ball to crash." He replied with a devious grin because this ball would be the biggest event in Steelridge.

He would be able to kill two birds with one stone by bringing the witches to an end any other creature would know they were a force to be wreckin with. This ball would be the biggest ball Steelridge ever witnessed.

The ball is next! any questions you have ask away!
