Chapter 20.5

"Battle upon the Shore"

Not too far from the outskirts of Domino City, Spike and Rarity, who were off-duty, were enjoying each other's company, hand in hand. Soon, Spike and Rarity realized they were near Odaiba beach. "Spikey, isn't this Odaiba beach?" Rarity asked. "Yes, it is. I think that no one's allowed to swim in the water in the water there, but there is a public pool that people can dive into. But it's on the campus of Kyoyo Junior High." Spike responded. "Well, there's the Billabong shop right over there. So what say we go and buy the proper attire for a date?" Rarity proposed, causing Spike to go red instantly, but it soon turned to a smile.

"Okay, Rarity. Anything for you." he said. They entered the store and looked at all sorts of different swimsuits for Rarity and many different trunks for Spike. They soon found what they were looking for. 'Oh, yes. These are the perfect fit for my Spikey-wikey.' Rarity thought with a giggle. 'Wow. Imagine if Rarity wore this. She's be as hot as the sun, and twice as beautiful.' Spike thought as he blushed red and smiled.

The happy couple soon checked out and left the store. "So, Spikey, I got something special for you for our date, along with some sunblock for each of us." Rarity said with a smile. "I got something for you, too, Rarity. So let's head into the pool building and change." Spike responded. They soon head inside. "My gift for you is in here, Spikey." Rarity said with a flutter of her eyes, causing Spike to blush instantly.

"Uh, and this... This is for you." Spike said as they handed the shopping bags containing their gifts for each other to one another. Spike was first to see what Rarity bought him. "Wow! Purple swim trunks with green drawstrings and lightning bolts on it? Thank you, Rarity." said the boy with a smile. Rarity opened her bag next and blushed at what she saw. "Oh, Spikey... It's adorable! A purple and white bikini, with diamonds on the top? You're so sweet, Spikey-boo." she said before kissing her young man.

They both headed into the changing room and tried out their outfits. Spike was the first to come out. "Rarity, these trunks you got me are amazing! Thanks." he said as Rarity poked her head out of the entrance to the women's locker room. "Oh, Spikey-boo, you look as appealing as you are handsome. But just wait until you see how I look in the outfit you got me. I assure you, it's bound to knock your socks off." she said with a wink before ducking her head back into the locker room.

"Whatever you say, Rarity." Spike said, slightly nervous. But when she came out, it was like she was walking in slow motion, and in Spike's head, as his cheeks blushed tomato red, it sounded like saxophones were playing in his head as he looked at his girl. For Rarity was wearing a purple and white bikini that seemed to make her more adult than before. "I must say, Spikey, this outfit does seem a bit revealing, but that's the trend with beachwear, isn't it? Course, as long as you're by my side, I don't mind if this bikini is revealing in the front and rear. Plus, as long as you like it, darling, I'm happy to wear it." she said as she showed the full view of the outfit on her figure before winking at Spike.

"I... I..." Spike began to say. "No need to say more, Spikey-poo. Just follow me to the beach... And keep close, dear." Rarity interrupted as she put a finger on his lips before walking towards the exit. "Coming, dear?" she asked before shaking her rear a bit. Spike just lightly chuckled and followed close behind. But they were unaware that, as they left, two cloaked figures watched. "Shall we ambush them now?" asked one. "No. We wait for them to enter the pool building again." the other responded. "This isn't just for some kind of dramatic flair, is it?" asked the first figure, but the other just chuckled.

As for Spike and Rarity, she spread out the beach towel that she had purchased earlier and brought out the sunblock. "Spikey, dear, may I rub you down with sunscreen? I'd just hate to see you manly chest get sunburned." Rarity asked. "Sure..." Spike said, bashfully before Rarity set to work. 'Wow. Rarity's touching my chest, without my shirt on! Is it really okay for her to be doing this? But it feels so good. Why do I have to be nervous around my girl when she looks so dreamy?' Spike thought as Rarity rubbed him down from chest, to arms, to legs, to face, to neck and finally to back.

"There. Now, while you wait for it to soak in, I'll apply some to myself." Rarity said as she started to rub herself down. 'Wow. Her touch felt so soft and gentle. And watching her apply sunblock on herself, makes me feel weird.' Spike thought. "Spikey? Would you be a dear and put sunscreen on my back?" Rarity asked. Spike turned bright red instantly as his girl fluttered her eyes. "Uh... oh. Okay." he said, meekly. Rarity then laid down on her stomach.

"Don't forget to get between the shoulder blades." she said as she shut her eyes and prepared to embrace her darling's touch. Spike then starts putting sunscreen on her back, causing Rarity to sigh in content. "That's it, Spike. Oh, that feels good." she said lovingly. 'Truly he knows what he's doing.' she thought, reassuringly. Soon, Spike, sneakily, started rubbing her rear with sunblock. "Oh!" Rarity said suddenly before giggling. "How bold of you, Spikey." she said cheekily. Spike soon stopped. "I'm sorry, Rarity." he said. "Oh, it's fine, sweetie. I don't mind. Plus, we're the only ones here, so it's not like no one notices." Rarity replied.

"Well, maybe." Spike said bashfully. "Here, how about I help you get at my shoulder blades." Rarity offered before untying the string tying her top to body while still laying down. Spike blushed once more, but did his duty. Afterwards, she tied her top back on again. "Now, just do my front and we'll be done." Rarity said with a soothing voice. Even more nervous, Spike does so, while Rarity allows him to place his hand where her heart was located. "I love you, Spikey. And I trust you with all my heart." she said, causing Spike to smile before he finished by putting sunblock on her stomach.

"There. That wasn't so bad, was it?" Rarity asked. "I guess not." Spike responded. Soon, the two laid back on their beach towels, underneath some conveniently places beach umbrellas, and soaked in just enough rays for them to be content. "What a beautiful place for a date. If only we weren't hired as enforcers for the Battle City tournament, we could stay here forever." Rarity said as she stood up. "Yeah, but we know that something like that can only happen in the perfect summer." Spike said as he also stood up. "Well, at least we're off-duty for the next couple hours. Now, what say we go swimming, Spikey, darling?" Rarity responded.

Spike simply smiled and they head inside. But before they could dive in, they were quickly ambushed by the cloaked figures. "May we help you?" Spike asked. "Of course, just hand over your rarest cards." said one of them. "Rare Hunters!" Rarity said, clearly unhappy that the twosome crashed their date. "I am Umi, and this is my brother, Saka." said one of them as they both removed their hoods. "We seek to dominate the world, one rare card at a time." Saka stated. "Or in this case, two at a time!" Umi added. "Well, not if we have anything to say about it. Right, Spikey?" Rarity retorted. "I agree, we'll duel you in a tag team duel!" Spike concurred. "If that's what you wish, than we accept." Umi responded.

Soon, both Duelists were in place and ready to start as their Duel Disks activated. "Girls go first." Spike stated. "Well, that's generous of you, Spikey." Rarity said before blowing him a kiss. "Hogwash! Why should she and my sister have the honor of the first two turns?!" Saka shouted. "Silence, brother. We have a duel to win, we can discuss the meaning of the phrase 'ladies first' later." Umi set as all four players drew their hands, launched the hologram projectors and gave a loud and determined 'Let's duel!' as their life points set to 4000.

"First turn honors are mine." Rarity said before drawing. "And I summon Spirit of the Harp in defense mode!" she declared before her monster appeared. "I'll leave it at that for now." she concluded. "Then allow me to continue." Umi said before drawing. "And I'll bring forth the Mother Grizzly, also in defense mode." she stated before her monster appeared. "I'll end my turn with a face down." she concluded before control of the duel moved to Spike.

"My move!" the brave boy declared as he drew. "And I summon the Masked Dragon in defense mode!" he said as his monster, a level three, Fire attribute dragon/effect monster with 1400 attack points and 1100 defense points, appeared. "And I'll end my turn with a face down." he concluded as control moved to Saka. "Then it's my turn." he said before drawing. "And I play Terraforming! This allows me to bring a field spell from my deck and activate it, and I choose to play Umi!" he declared before the field spell activated, flooding the battlefield with ocean water.

"This will grant all fish, sea serpent, thunder and aqua monsters a 200 attack and defense point boost!" he explained. "And to demonstrate, I summon the Giant Red Seasnake in attack mode!" he bellowed before his monster, a level four, Water attribute Aqua monster with 1800 attack points and 800 defense points, now increased to 2000 and 1000, respectively, appeared. "And I'll end my turn with a facedown." he concluded.

"It's my move." Rarity said as she drew. "First thing I'll do is set a card face down, and then summon Thunder Nyan-Nyan in attack mode!" she stated before her monster, a level four, Light attribute thunder/effect monster with 1900 attack points and 800 defense points, now increased to 2100 and 1000, respectively, appeared. "And thanks to Spirit of the Harp being on the field, my jungle drummer can't be destroyed as per her ability, because my Spirit of the Harp is a Light attribute monster. Now, go, Thunder Nyan-Nyan, attack the Giant Red Seasnake with Thunder Drumroll!" she declared.

In moments, the Giant Red Seasnake was electrocuted and destroyed, lowering Saka's life points to 3900. "I'll leave it at that for now." Rarity concluded. "Dare to attack my brother, and you dare to attack my family!" Umi declared, quite upset, as she drew. "So I play Polymerization to fuse my Bottom Dweller and Tongyo from my hand together to fusion summon the Deepsea Shark!" she said before her two monsters gave way to one, a level five, Water attribute fish/fusion monster with 1900 attack points and 1600 defense points, now increased to 2100 and 1800, respectively.

"Due to Battle City rules, dear, your new monster can't attack." Rarity pointed out. "I don't need him to attack right now, because I summon Star Boy to the field in attack mode!" Umi retorted as her next monster, a level two, Water attribute aqua/effect monster with 550 attack points and 500 defense points, now increased to 750 and 700, respectively, appeared. "Sure he may not be much, but I activate his special ability. As long as he remains face up on the field, all water attribute monsters gain 500 extra attack points while all fire attribute monsters lose 400 attack points!" she stated as Star Boy's attack points jumped to 1250, Mother Grizzly's attack points increased to 1900 and Deepsea Shark's attack points increased to 2600.

"And now, I switch Mother Grizzly into attack mode. Go, my mighty bear, destroy the Masked Dragon!" she continued before her monster slashed the Masked Dragon apart. "You activated my dragon's special ability, when he goes to the graveyard, I can summon another dragon from my deck with 1500 attack points or less. And I choose the Blackland Fire Dragon!" Spike revealed before his new dragon appeared. "In that case, I end my turn." Umi said, slightly frustrated. "Then it's my move." Spike said as he drew. "I tribute my Blackland Fire Dragon to bring out my Black Dragon Jungle King!" he declared as his first dragon made way for his next one. "Black Dragon Jungle King, destroy Star Boy!" he commanded before Star Boy was blown to pieces, lowering Umi's life points to 3150.

"And with Star Boy gone, your monsters' attack points all return to normal." Spike added as Umi's creatures lost their 500 attack point boost. "I'll end my turn there." he concluded. "Then it's my turn." Saka stated before drawing. 'While my sister's monsters lost their extra attack power, mine certainly won't.' he thought. "I summon forth the Abyss Soldier!" he said aloud as his creature, a level four, Water attribute aqua/effect monster, with 1800 attack points and 1300 defense points, now increased to 2000 and 1500, respectively, appeared.

"I now activate my soldier's special ability. By discarding a water attribute monster to my graveyard, I can send one card on the field back to the owner's hand. And I choose to send your Spirit of the Harp back to your hand, Rarity!" he continued. Soon, Spirit of the Harp vanished from the field. "Then that means, with no light attribute monsters on the field, my Thunder Nyan-Nyan will be destroyed!" Rarity shouted as her creature was destroyed. "And now with no protection, Abyss Soldier, attack Rarity directly with Triton of the Abyss!" Saka commanded, but Rarity smirked. "Not so fast! I activate my trap card, Waboku!" she declared as her trap was sprung, shocking Saka.

"Thanks to this, I won't be able to take damage from your attack!" she explained. "Then I end my turn." Saka said, irked that his attack failed. "Then it's back to me!" Rarity declared as she drew. "I send my Thunder Dragon to my graveyard to activate its special ability, which is to summon my extra two Thunder Dragons to my hand!" she said as her two dragons came into her hand. "Next I play Polymerization to fuse them together and summon the Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon!" he added as her two creatures combined and her new dragon appeared, now with its attack and defense points increased to 3000 and 2300, respectively.

"Now, I may have to wait a turn to use its power, I can do this in the meantime! I summon the Cure Mermaid to the field in attack mode!" she declared as her new monster appeared, now with 1700 attack points and 1000 defense points, respectively. "Go, Cure Mermaid, attack the Mother Grizzly!" she commanded before the giant bear was destroyed, lowering Umi's life points to 2850. "You may have rid the field of my bear, but I activate her special ability, which allows me to summon a water monster with 1500 attack points or less to the field, and I choose the Unshaven Angler!" Umi stated as her new monster, a level four, Water attribute fish/effect monster with 1500 attack points and 1600 defense points, now increased to 1700 and 1800, respectively, appeared.

"Then I'll end my turn with a face down." Rarity responded. "My turn." Umi said before drawing. "I sacrifice my Unshaven Angler to summon my Terrorking Salmon in attack mode!" she declared before her old monster gave way to a new one, a level five, Water attribute Fish monster with 2400 attack points and 1000 defense points, now increased to 2600 and 1200, respectively, appeared. "Now, my salmon, attack the Cure Mermaid!" she commanded. "Not so fast! I activate Negate Attack, so keep your fins off my girlfriend!" Spike declared as his trap activated, stopping the attack and ending Umi's turn automatically.

"Why would you go so far as to protect her? She's not your sister, she's not your family. If I were teamed up with some random woman, I'd leave her to take the brunt of the assaults from my opponents!" Saka stated. "You obviously have little regard for women, so you must learn respect." Rarity said bluntly. "And I'll be the one to teach you." Spike said confidently as he drew. "I play Ancient Rules, which allows me to special summon a level five or higher monster from my hand, and I choose to bring out my rarest monster, the Tri-Horned Dragon!" he declared before his dragon appeared. "You Rare Hunters like rare cards, no? Well, gaze at this one, for it'll be the instrument of your defeat! Go, my dragon, attack the Terrorking Salmon!" he bellowed before the salmon was cooked alive and destroyed, lowering Umi's life points to 2600.

"But that's not all! Black Dragon Jungle King, attack the Abyss Soldier!" he ordered before the creature was destroyed and Saka's life points lowered to 3800. "I'll set a monster in defense mode and lay a facedown to end my turn." he concluded. "I should've known you'd slow me down, sister, so I'll finish this duel myself!" Saka shouted angrily as he drew. "I summon the Kaiser Sea Horse in attack mode!" he declared before his creature, a level four, Light attribute sea serpent/effect monster with 1700 attack points and 1650 defense points, now increased to 1900 and 1850, respectively, appeared.

"Next I place a facedown and activate my trap, Dust Tornado!" he continued. "My tornado will blow that facedown of yours away, Rarity!" he declared as Rarity's facedown, the Mirror Wall, was destroyed. "My Mirror Wall!" she shouted in shock. "Is gone, and now Kaiser Sea Horse, attack the Cure Mermaid!" Saka declared before Rarity's mermaid was struck down, lowering Rarity's life points to 3800. "I'll end my turn there." he concluded with a smile.

"Brute, I'll show you!" Rarity stated before drawing. "Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon, attack the Kaiser Sea Horse!" she commanded before the the attack was launched. "Not so fast, I activate Tornado Wall to protect my life points!" Saka retorted as his trap was sprung. "Think again! I activate my own trap card, Seven Tools of the Bandit!" Spike declared as his own trap activated. "You see, by paying 1000 of my own life points, I can destroy a trap card as soon as it activates!" he explained as his life points dropped to 3000 and the Tornado Wall was destroyed instantly, allowed the Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon's attack to land and destroy the Kaiser Sea Horse, dropping Saka's life points to 2700.

"Why, thank you, Spikey dear. I'll make sure you get a nice reward sometime after this." Rarity said before blowing her blushing boyfriend a kiss. "Now I'll set a card facedown and summon my Amazon of the Seas in defense mode!" she added as her creature, a level four, Water attribute Fish monster with 1300 attack points and 1400 defense points, now increased to 1500 and 1600, respectively, appeared. "And with that, I'll end my turn." she concluded.

"Who's dragging us down now, brother?" Umi asked before drawing. "I activate the special ability of one of the cards in my hand. See, since I control a water monster, my Deepsea Shark, I can summon this monster without a sacrifice. So I therefore summon my Cyber Shark!" she declared as her next monster, a level five, Water attribute/effect monster with 2100 attack points and 200 defense points, now increased to 2300 and 2200, respectively, appeared. "Next I play my rarest card, Nobleman of Crossout! This allows me to remove one set monster from play, and I choose that one!" she continued as she pointed at Spike's face down monster, which turned out to be a level four, Fire attribute pyro/effect monster with 1500 attack points and 1000 defense points called Solar Flare Dragon, before it was banished.

"No! My Solar Flare Dragon!" Spike shouted. "And now, Cyber Shark, attack the Black Dragon Jungle King!" Umi commanded before Spike's monster was destroyed and his life points lowered to 2800. "I'll end my turn there." she added before turning to her brother. "Guess not all women aren't as useless as you think, eh, brother?" she asked Saka, who just sneered. "My turn!" Spike declared before drawing. 'This'll do it.' he thought. "I use Monster Reborn to bring your Terrorking Salmon back from the graveyard and put him under my control, Umi!" he declared as the creature reappeared.

"What good would my salmon do you?" Umi asked, puzzled. "Watch! Terrorking Salmon, attack the Deepsea Shark!" Spike responded before the mighty predator was brought down, lowering Umi's life points to 2350. "Now, Tri-Horned Dragon, attack Saka directly!" he added before, with one blast, Saka's life points hit 0, knocking him out of the duel. "My brother! He may have deserved that for deriding women, but you'll pay for what you've done!" Umi shouted.

"Think again, I play the magic card, Dragon's Gunfire! As long as I control a dragon, I can either target a monster with 800 attack points or less and destroy it, or deal 800 points of damage directly to your life points. Guess which one I've chosen!" Spike retorted as a fireball struck Umi, lowering her life points 1550. "This can't be happening!" Umi shouted. "Oh, it is! Rarity, end this!" Spike said with a confident look in his eyes.

"With pleasure, Spikey, darling!" Rarity said before drawing. "I switch my Amazon of the Seas to attack mode, and then I'll have my Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon attack your Cyber Shark!" she declared before, in moments the Cyber Shark was electrocuted and destroyed, lowering Umi's life points to 850. "And now, Amazon of the Seas, end this duel!" she commanded before, with one strike, Umi's life points hit 0, ending the game.

"Foolish, woman..." Saka said before collapsing. "I failed... Both my master, and my brother..." Umi said as she dropped to her knees. "Now I do believe that you two owe us your rarest cards." Rarity stated. In no time, both of the happy couple had their rarest cards, Kaiser Sea Horse for Spike and Nobleman of Crossout for Rarity, as both Saka and Umi were put into a police car and driven off. "You foolish girl! You failed me and Marik! I never should've brought you into the Rare Hunters!" Saka shouted.

"So says the guy who hates women, including our own dearly departed mother!" Umi retorted as the two bickered back and forth while being driven off to the police station. "Well, that takes care of that." Spike said with a smile. "Indeed, Spikey. Now, where were we in terms of our date?" Rarity asked cheekily with a flutter of her eyes. "I... uh... I believe you wanted to go for a swim..." Spike responded, blushing. "Well, come, Spikey-poo, the water beckons." Rarity said as she walked back into the building. "As does your chance to hold me, in various places..." she added as she jiggled her rear a bit, teasing him.

Blushing, Spike followed her in and watched as she elegantly dived into the water. "Come on in, darling. The water's perfect." she said. Spike soon followed in and the two began to enjoy both the feel of the water and their company as they continued swimming around. A bit later, they were relaxing by the wall of the pool. "Oh, Spikey. Despite what happened with those Rare Hunters, I'm having a wonderful time on this date of ours." Rarity said before kissing her man. "It's my pleasure, Rarity. Anything for you. You're my gem, the crown jewel in my life." Spike said to his beloved. "I promised you'd get a reward for helping us win that duel earlier, but that shall come later. For now, I have something as a thank you for picking out this wonderful swimsuit..." Rarity began to say before the two started making out, uncaring if anyone else was around.

"I love you, Rarity." Spike said as he stared lovingly into Rarity's eyes. "I love you too, my little Spikey-wikey." Rarity responded before they both started making out again.
